I think it's like a Plot trope, so, basically a Genre for individual episodes?

So it sorta makes sense?

How would you do context for Tournament Arc? ... Okay, well, I guess why there's a tournament, and what the prize is, for one thing...

So, for this, the context would be "Why is the character missing, and how does it change the story?"

that's the most important thing for examples to do. if an example doesn't answer the question "what effect does this have on the story" then it's not a good example, except for things like Gameplay Tropes.

EarWorm.Cartoon Network is just song lyrics and video links. I'm not sure we can salvage it.

[up] There's a TRS thread for Ear Worm that is leaning heavily in favor of declaring it IUEO specifically because it is almost impossible to provide context for, leading to the distinct suspicion that it's so subjective as to be meaningless.

Sonic Adventures has only three examples, that aren't Zero Context Examples.

I recently commented out an entry in the "Christian examples" section of Religious Horror, which simply reads:

KULT is a good example.

I am not familiar with the work, so I can't really add to the entry. Just thought I'd post here in case anyone here is familiar with the work.

Sorry for the double-post, but I found a Zero-Context Example in Smoky Gentlemen's Club. It's the only entry in the Tabletop Games folder and all it reads is:

Vampire: The Masquerade are made of this trope.

I didn't comment it out because it's the only entry in the folder. I am not familiar with the tabletop game at all, so I thought I'd bring it here.

You can comment out the Folder markup for that folder as well, hiding the whole thing.

Characters.Fatal Fury has a ton, wow....so for characters that have no tropes at all, should tropers also comment their entries out too or ?

EDIT: Whew, done, that was a nightmare. Something I found annoying was the overuse of hyphens instead of colons for tropes, was this some standard practice long ago when the site first started? Might explain it and this page might have been around since the beginning.

Tropes on works pages used to be listed as any of

  • Trope: Description
  • Trope - Description
  • Trope (Description)

and the only rule was that the page needed to be consistent.

... I don't remember why we let it be that way for so long.

Well, it was a nightmare to clean up but at least it's done. I'm gonna guess that colons are the way to go.

Training with Hinako was just unlocked after being cut and restored by the P5, so it has a lot of ZCEs.

I was dewicking out-of-universe Ear Worm wicks for TRS and came across Main.Title Scream, which consists mostly of quotes potholed to the original work's page. It doesn't help that large portions of the page are all caps

Oof. I'm a big proponent of the idea that if a trope is really a trope, there's always something you can say to give it context, but this one's got me stumped.

It's definitely a trope, but a page full of "[Work Title] is shouted loudly by the announcer on the title screen" wouldn't be significantly better than what we have now.

[up]That reminds me of this note on Close on Title:

Note: This trope is often listed as a Zero-Context Example, as it seems self-explanatory. You can just put in "The title is shown only after the film is over." and leave it at that. This way tropers won't have to take a Wiki Walk to find out what it means.

[up]I think that would work. Saying "[Title] is shouted by [character/announcer/etc.] in [part of work]" would probably work, even if it's Boring, but Practical.

Yeah, it's one of those things where the context may be redundant, but is still preferable- mostly for crosswicking purposes.

Speaking of redundancy, what can we do on work pages where they are One-Word Title? Do we just...

This should describe the look, right? And the link is broken anyway... From Web Archive, it seems like it's a cropped version of this, that just shows Amy.
