I feel like if you want to have a Leatherface that is not infantile, you would have to make the Ed Gein inspiration more prominent than any other interpretation, including Norman Bates and Buffalo Bill.
It's been 3000 years…I don't really know if Sidney falls into the same category as Laurie (and now Sally). She was always part of the Scream franchise, there never was a big "triumphant return" moment compared to the others.
You and I remember Budapest very differentlyAdmittedly, Ed Gein wasn't exactly a rampaging psycho sort either, with only a handful, maybe just two, killings. Mainly, he was just into arts and crafts with bodies, with a focus on trying to live inside his mother's skin.
Leatherface isn't the villain of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, though.
People seem to forget he's just a tool for his family.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.I could see the idea of an Abled in the Adaptation Adaptational Villainy Jedidiah Sawyer (if Leatherface's true name remains the same) being The Patriarch of his family and running a black market cannibal dish business like a Corrupt Corporate Executive while maintaining a publicly respectable facade. It would be very much different from the Tragic Monster Leatherface we've known over the years, but it would be more relevant considering the prevalence of Corrupt Corporate Executive becoming more and more well-known in Real Life.
And as for the main protagonist being Sally again, I would rather her (and the other Cannon Fodder characters with her) be young adults instead of older following the 1974 original (like how Rob Zombie did Halloween (2007) with Laurie, but better).

"I usually specialize in Dragon-types, but now I'm a fairy and specialize in Fairy-types. See the irony?" - IrisI think Leatherface is better as a Dumb Muscle, but I do think this franchise has a tendency to forget Leatherface is just the Face Of The Band for the Sawyer family. The whole appeal of the first movie is the interplay between these colorful maniacs in a bizarre family dysfunction. Drayton Sawyer (a.k.a the Cook) would be a perfect one for a Corrupt Corporate Executive type. TCM 2 (a underrated gem) even does some satire with him:
TCM 2 also includes Chop-Top, another great addition to the family.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Yes, they're a Big Bad Ensemble and the Cook's whole deal is the fact that our heroes can be lured in by him.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. So who here has heard about the Winnie The Pooh Blood and Honey Movie coming up?
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?https://variety.com/2022/film/news/winnie-the-pooh-blood-and-honey-director-1235278405/
That's the one. This is going to be amazing.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?I loved how there'd be an infinite number of puns for a phrase or a Tagline for that film.
"You can call me Winnie The Shit now".
"Honey, I'm home".
"Piglet, let's make pigs of ourselves".
"And you thought he was all fluff".
"Oh bother".
"Hey cop, I'm the bad kind of pig".
"It'll be unbearable".
I could spend all day coming up with these.
Maybe he'll use bear traps as weapons or drown people in honey?
Piglet, let's make pigs of ourselves
For some reason this screams A Machine For Pigs to me.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?"Now Pooh had some very unusual adventures, and they all happened right here in the Hundred Acre Wood." I guess the adventures extend to murder.
It's been 3000 years…Terrifier 2! Art is back in the house!
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?Kick him back out!
This movie sound ridiculous. I have no idea how they're going to give us two hours and fifteen minutes of Art when the absolute thinness of the original was so clear; the movie basically got by on his creepiness and the gross-out gore. If it's anywhere near amusing, they're going to burn through those things to the point where we won't need a third or fourth Terrifier.
On another slasher note, I recently watched Orphan: First Kill, which is much more slasher-like than its predecessor, and a true delight if you enjoy your slashers with campiness. The effects on Fuhrman are passable, but the real fun begins when the movie proves to have a twist almost as messed-up as its predecessor. If you enjoy knowingly silly horror, give it a shot.

I want to know what happened in the 1970s to inspire all the summer camp slashers.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Just watched Camp Slaughter. It was entertaining, very schlocky. Still wondering about the nature of the time loop... are only people who killed that night aware of it?
I couldn't really make sense of it, and I watched it twice.
The late Sixties and Seventies were a bit of a rocky period for the USA, to put it lightly.
It's also why so many dystopian sci-fi works were made in that time.
Disgusted, but not surprisedIs this the best place to drop discussion for The Invitation?Seeing it tomorrow and the premise really interests me. But then again, I know that its going to be average at best, if not bad. But hey, I need something cheap to see this year rather than high brow arthouse or blockbuster franchise junk.
Where's my yummy yummy Porgs. It looked like Get Out (2017) meets Ready or Not (2019) from the trailer, so I'm expecting Nathalie Emmanuel to make it out.

A very generic looking film which reveals way too much in the trailer.
Yet I’m seeing it tonight because I like the idea.
Where's my yummy yummy Porgs.x4 But why summer camps? The Burning and Friday the 13th came out within a year of each other.
I loved The Invitation, I watched then watched it again.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.
@Gaon: I also don't think that many people are interested in a story about Sally compared to Laurie or Sidney. Compared to the other two I legit don't think a lot of people know who she is or care ?
