YMMV / Project: Eden's Garden

  • Awesome Art: The series has been praised for its gorgeous character designs, stellar backgrounds and for its beautiful imagery during the class trials.
  • Awesome Music: Another strength of the series is its astounding soundtrack and musical motif.
  • Base-Breaking Character: While only the prologue is available, a few characters are already spawning debates.
    • The protagonist Damon is very divisive for his arrogance and arbitrary view of what defines a "true ultimate". You either think a jerk protagonist has a lot of potential for development and he has a point that titles like "ultimate influencer" don't sound useful for society, or think Damon is stupidly antagonistic for the sake of drama and he lacks the charisma to back up his "ultimate debater" title that sounds even more underwhelming than "ultimate influencer".
    • Cassidy Amber, even disregarding the infamous rant one commenter made against her, still has a lot of detractors. Her over-the-top energy, portrayal as an overly comedic character, and uselessness in the trials is already irritating a lot of players. However, the most contentious thing about her is possibly her viewpoints. Despite politics not specifically being mentioned, the fact that she gives away most of her earnings to charity, calls her fans “Comrades”, and especially hates billionaires gives off socialist or even communist beliefs, dividing those that severely disagree with said viewpoints, or are just worrying fans that she’ll be overly preachy in a game that shouldn’t involve obvious politics. It also doesn’t help that she can be compared to other controversial streamers such as Hasan Piker. Others find her to be a funny and lovable character whose personal beliefs are very much noble and well-intentioned, doubting she’ll turn into a self-righteous Communist.
    • Kai Monteago, as another Internet superstar, is getting as much division as Cassidy Amber. His self-centered, narcissistic, and whiny nature is either annoying or funny depending on who you’re talking to. There’s also the fact that his bio states that he’s a master manipulator who uses his fans and loves to cause conflict, disappointing many people who thought he would take on a more antagonistic role, only for him to be a crybaby who has so far shown none of those traits. Others don’t think he’s meant to be a very serious character and enjoy to hate him for what he is, a spoiled celebrity who acts pathetic whenever he doesn’t have his fans to back him up. Then there’s some who just like him for being beautiful and want to ship him with Damon.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Only the Prologue is available, so not many characters have gotten much focus, but Jett Dawson is already very popular among fans despite mostly serving as comic relief and has yet to have a significant role in the story. This is due to his relationship with Mark, funny lines, and fun-loving personality. His unique design is also a source of love, as his body suit provides mystery regarding his true appearance, on top of appealing to certain fans.
  • Ho Yay: The prologue already has a bit of this between Mark and Jett. They're seen together frequently, Jett's first interaction with Mark involves enthusiastically trying to get his name, he immediately rebuffs Mark's attempts at downplaying his own skills despite admitting to having never heard his music before, brings him along when meeting up with the others outside the tree (something Mark shows little resistance to) and can be seen trying to comfort him when he starts stressing out after the practice trial. They're also paired together a lot in official art, including one where they're sitting together, Jett putting his arm around Mark and for some reason, wearing his headphones.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Cassidy Amber's voice actor is good, however, I hate Cassidy Amber. Explanation
    • TWENTY EIGHT STAB WOUNDS Explanation
  • Moe: Diana, for her sweet demeanor. as well as Eloise and Toshiko, for their shyness.
  • Narm: If you know the "Twenty eight stab wounds!" meme from Detroit: Become Human, any scene where the characters say it out loud sounds comedic instead of dramatic.
  • Ron the Death Eater:
    • Before the game's full story has even released, Grace Madison has been portrayed like this, bordering on Memetic Psychopath, if not outright being one according to the fandom, even though her behavior is mischievous, not anti-heroic. She may do it with not the best attitude, but she does want to rebel against the antagonist out of a strong sense of justice, not because of an ego, or the like. Though she does come off as a jerkass at first, it's much clearer that she's more of a Jerk with a Heart of Gold. By the end of the prologue, even though she's completely aware of Tozu's willingness to control her, she still decides to fight against him in an attempt to take him down, not holding anything back, which comes off as both a senseless and heroic sacrifice at the same time.
    • Similarly, Damon Matsu has also been portrayed as worse than he actually is. Much of the fandom treats him as a complete Jerkass and Narcissist with no redeeming qualities. While he is very egotistical and somewhat judgemental of his classmates, it's clear that he's not an actively malicious person, and his more insensitive traits are due to his lack of social skills and privileged background. Even when he gives his speech at the end of the Prologue, not only telling everyone that trusting others is going to backfire, but that their Ultimate talents contribute little to society, he's shocked when everyone starts hating him for it. He even admits that he was only trying to help everyone by making sure they didn't trust each other too easily. Damon also shows clear disgust at Cara's murder, and has trouble investigating her fake body. Despite this, some fans treat Damon like he's completely incapable of change.
  • Ship Mates: If someone ships Damon/Kai, it's fairly common to find them also shipping Wolfgang/Grace (and vice-versa). This neatly gets Wolfgang/Damon off the table.
