YMMV / Fast X

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: Try saying the title, particularly fast. See how long it starts to sound like something else.
  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Aimes is Mr. Nobody's successor and the current leader of the CIA, only with Tess being his second in command. However, it is possible that since Tess was Nobody's daughter that Aimes wasn't really meant to be the leader of the organization, as he might have even usurped his position without him knowing.
  • Catharsis Factor: Letty and Cipher's cat fight in the Antarctica prison is definitely this for all the crap Cipher got away with during the events of The Fate of the Furious and F9.
  • Complete Monster: Cipher returns. See that page for details.
  • Evil Is Cool: Dante Reyes is even more evil and dangerous than the already ruthless Cipher, being able to outwit the resident Invincible Hero Dominic Toretto at every turn and even ends the film completely victorious, a first for the series, yet Jason Momoa's flamboyant charm helps endear many viewers to his side while also being genuinely threatening to the heroes.
  • He Really Can Act: If there's one thing everyone universally agrees on, it's that Jason Momoa brings his all as Dante Reyes, showing off his acting skills by playing a Large Ham Sissy Villain for a change, while also coming off as a genuine threat.
  • He's Just Hiding: Given how frequently characters in this series turn out to be Not Quite Dead (Letty, Han, Gisele), it's no surprise that many believe Jakob survived his apparent death and will turn up just fine in the next movie.
  • Memetic Mutation: Fast Ten Your Seatbelts.note
  • Nightmare Fuel: While also counting as Black Comedy, Dante keeping several visibly rotting corpses around just to talk with them is some disturbing imagery, which can catch even longtime viewers of the franchise off-guard because of how sparse prior movies delved into horror themes like this.
  • One-Scene Wonder:
    • Gisele being revealed to be Not Quite Dead at the ending of the movie, who shows up in a nuclear submarine to rescue Letty and Cipher from the Agency's Antarctic base.
    • Hobbs returns in The Stinger as the other big target of Dante's revenge. He awesomely tells him to Bring It.
  • Padding: After the mission in Rome, the team is scattered all across the world, but only Dom and Jakob really receive a big focus in the movie. The rest of Dom's family don't really do much to advance the main plot along; Tej, Roman, Han, and Ramsey's group's role pretty much amounts to a "Shaggy Dog" Story when they finally get to where Dom is only for their plane to get shot down by Aimes, while Letty is trapped within the Agency's headquarters in Antarctica along with Cipher and both of them only managed to break out by the end of the movie. In both cases their arcs can simply be described as mere set up for the next movie
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: While not universally disliked, Jakob Toretto wasn't really that memorable in the previous movie. However, Fast X does a lot to give him a spotlight to the point that he's the one person in Dom's circle that receives the most focus in the story outside of Dom himself, where he becomes a much more likable Cool Uncle to his nephew Brian and gets a couple of cool action scenes and warm moments, culminating in a moving Heroic Sacrifice in the climax to save Dom's life after finally making amends with him. It also helps that pairing him up with Little B allows John Cena to easily slip into the slightly goofy, kid-friendly persona he perfected in the WWE, while still remaining a total badass.
  • Shocking Moments: Aimes shooting down the plane that Tej, Roman, Han, and Ramsey are all on, thus revealing himself to be Evil All Along after what appeared to be a convincing Heel–Face Turn during the bridge shootout earlier in the movie.
