YMMV / Dinosaur Adventure

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: The duck narrator keeps making suggestive poses while a crow looks on excitedly.
  • Common Knowledge: Since the "Yee" meme comes from the Italian dub, many international fans believe it's an Italian cartoon, but it was actually made by Dingo Pictures, a German animation company.
  • Designated Hero:
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Italians love to snark at this film, obviously for Bile Fascination reasons and because it has the worst Italian dub ever. After being popularized by Yotobi's review, it was a Youtube Poop source in the past.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Tio's father tells Kree not to try breaking open the egg with a hammer because "You could hit his head!" Later in the story, Kree's flying lessons cause Tio to get a concussion, forcing his parents to send him away from Kree.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: There is now a dinosaur called Yi. Not quite "Yee", but close enough anyways. That it could even fly like Oro wants to makes it all the funnier.
  • Informed Wrongness: Tio’s parents are viewed as wrong for wanting to keep their son away from Kree after his “flying lesson” leads to Tio having a concussion. Not to mention that Kree was angry that Peek told Tio’s dad what happened rather than have him take responsibility for Tio’s injuries.
  • Memetic Molester: Cree the pterodactyl is often considered one due to his specific insistence on being around Tio as much as possible from the moment he hatched, even up to outright encouraging Tio to lie to his parents and to meet up in secret after his parents forbid him from being around him. Not helping matters is that one of the final lines in the movie is him trying to do the same thing to Tio the 2nd as well
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • A video of Peek from the Italian version of Dinosaur Adventure singing along to some background music via pitch-shifted bits of dialogue, only to be interrupted by Oro saying "Yee" became massively popular, spawning several variants with either the characters or song replaced, due to the catchy music, the odd face of Oro, and the randomness of the whole thing.
      • It is also the first video on the Important Videos Playlist, which further cements its meme status.
      • Peek's "Papa" from the same scene is equally memetic since there's rarely a "Yee" video without it.
  • Narm: The Italian dub, to the point that Yotobi couldn't stop laughing at the voices of the characters. Yotobi also made a review of Hercules, another Dingo Pictures movie, which he described as "the worst animated movie ever made" but at least the Italian voices were decent.
  • Never Live It Down: Oro spoke "Yee" only once, solely in the Italian dub (in the original German version he says "Peek", the name of the character he was talking to), but people will always call him the "yee" dinosaur.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • When the volcano erupts, Tio and Kree take shelter in a cave with some crocodiles, and are forced to stay there for a week until things are safe enough to go back outside. Think about that. These characters are forced to spend an entire week in a dark cave, knowing full well about the death and destruction occurring outside, and not knowing if their loved ones are going to live. Anybody going through that is horrific, and when you remember that one of the group is a child, the horror intensifies.
    • The scene where it is revealed that some dinosaurs turned to cannibalism. The English dub admitely fails to sell the horror here, but some actually have some dignity and take off the ambient noise, making this pretty unsettling.
  • The Scrappy: Despite the popularity of the "Yee" meme that involves him and Oro, Peek is by far the most hated character.
  • So Okay, It's Average: Some feel that Dinosaur Adventure is one of Dingo Pictures' better films. While it's not very good and has its own stupid moments (gorillas appearing in the Dinosaur Age and some of the dinosaurs turning into meat eaters), it's at least watchable. On the other hand, Phelous called it one of the worst Dingo movies he reviewed, though that was only the second time that he had reviewed a Dingo Pictures Film, and he has covered many more since then.
  • Take That, Scrappy!:
Kree: Shut up, Peek! You're a freak!
  • Watch It for the Meme: Watching for Oro's "Yee". You need to see the Italian version for that as it never happens in the original German dub or the English dub.
