Goofy Gods Comics was a Slice of Life web comic on Webtoon based on Classical Mythology in the modern world.
The comic can be found here.
Tropes:
- Adaptational Context Change: Persephone and Hades' relationship is redefined as both being willing participates, rather than a Perfectly Arranged Marriage setup by Zeus.
- Adaptation Personality Change: Classical Mythology was largely a World of Jerkass to reflect how the Ancient Greeks saw the world. Most of the characters in the comic are rewritten to fit the story.
- Hades goes apathetic of most things, to a dork
- Zeus is a lot nicer in the comic
- Celebrity Paradox: Harry Potter exists as a fiction within the universe of the comics, but the characters from the comic interact with from there.
- Green Thumb: Depending on the issue, Persephone can have full control over local plant life, to life just forming around her, to the local plant life reflecting her mood Fisher King-stlye.
- Goth: Persephone often dresses like this
- Informed Attractiveness: Hades hides his face under a The Grim Reaper-hood and mask. Persephone asks to look at it and quickly hides it again, saying no one should see it.
- Laser-Guided Karma: A swimmer poops in the ocean, so Posiedon repays the favor on his house.
- The Power of Love: Hephaestus is able to make panties that glow blue in the presence of true love.
- Rule of Funny: Some characters are rewritten, given new jobs, etc. to fit a joke. Examples:
- Zeus is given the job of "Greeter of the newly deceased at The Pearly Gates in front of Fluffy Cloud Heaven" that usually goes to St. Peter. This despite being the after life in Greek myths being different for mortals, than what shows up in Christian myths.
- Shoutout:
- For Halloween, Persephone hopes Hades will dress up like Groot, but instead he dresses up as Bulbasaur
- Disney characters often popup, like Zeus chasing away Mufasa during the cloud scene of The Lion King (1994).
- Dobby and Voldemort from Harry Potter shows up
- Mario from Super Mario Bros. swims through Poseidon's ocean
- Zeus uses The Six Stats from Dungeons & Dragons in creating a person.
- Persephone gets the idea to defend against a Zombie Apocalypse from Plants vs. Zombies
- Strange Minds Think Alike: Hades brings Persephone out on a date, to all of his favorites places (like an abandoned amusement park). After the date, both of them describe it as a lot of fun to the people who they are talking to.
- Zombie Apocalypse: Hades goes to take a nap, and when he wakes up, he is pinned to the bed by Cerberus. By the time, Cerberus is awake, 6 months have gone by and one of these has started.
