Just when you thought you'd caught them all.

Petalburg. Dewfon. Slateport. Long ago, the three towns connected together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Dewfon Town softlocked. Only the boat, master of all three towns, could travel between them. But when the chat needed it most, it stuck. Three gyms passed and my HM slave and I discovered the new surfer, a HM slave named Kapawondo, and although his surfing skills are great, he still has a lot to learn before he's ready to reach Dewfon.
Copypasta from the TPP chat.

Twitch Plays Pokémon (TPP) is a series of social experiments in which commands representing buttons on an original Game Boy Advance (up, down, left, right, A, B, L, R, start, and select) are entered into a chat on Twitch, and then translated into a game of Pokémon via an IRC bot. In short, hundreds of people are fighting over a controller. Throughout its life, Twitch Plays Pokémon has spawned hilarious characters, memorable moments, and even a few religions.

Twitch Plays Pokémon Sirius is the seventh run of the seventh season, which began on June 13th, 2020, and ended on June 23rd, 2020. Pokémon Sirius, the game featured, is an extensive hack of Pokémon Emerald, set in Hoenn after a meteor fall drastically altered the landscape and environment of the region, and caused some whole new species of Pokémon to appear. Among the 203 Pokémon featured in Sirius' Pokédex, 83 are brand new species, although it doesn't stop the chat from commenting on how the remaining 120 returning species are such convincing "fakemon" they almost look official.

Sirius broke the recurring tradition of runs set in Hoenn featuring a girl protagonist with a Fire-type starter, the Host chosen instead being a boy named BBCBBHH who began his adventure with the Grass-type Nimbleaf, whom he christened A06HHHHHH. Over the course of the game, BBCBBHH assembled his very own team of Sirius-exclusive Pokémon and Breloom.

This run is notable for introducing a whole new set of "fakemon" chat badges awarded upon capture ; unlike the few "fakemon" badges that existed before (MissingNo., Pumbloom, Phancero, and the Naljo Guardians) and were numbered from #2000 onwards, these have received their own set of numbers, ranging from #001-sirius to #202-sirius. This run also marks the return of "Commander Mode", which had been introduced in Theta Emerald EX as a nerfed version of the "Military Mode" from Crystal Anniversary, and makes it so that specific commands (move, catch, run, etc.) will automatically translate to the next input needed to perform the desired action.

See also here for the archived status of the run.

Twitch Plays Pokémon Sirius contains examples of:

  • Deadly Euphemism: The trendy phrase in Dewford Town was randomized as "LESS LIVING". Whether one interprets it as the latest fad being reducing the number of people alive or shortening your own lifetime, it's hilariously wrong.
NPC: "LESS LIVING"... It's the hottest thing in cool!
  • Glitch Entity: Near the end of the run, players went after some of the event Pokémon of Emerald. Due to being Dummied Out of Pokemon Sirius, they ended up kind of wonky.
    • Deoxys had its name show up as "???????", its cry distorted, and its type change from Psychic to Electric/Dragon. While it was not seen in the run proper, its backsprite was higher placed than it should've been too.
    • Mew had the correct cry and type, but its name turned into "Oooo". Additionally, the "Pokémon Storage" section of the run status page had it show up as a Chikorita (still with "Oooo" as its species name), while the "Pokédex" section had it listed with both the name and sprite of ??????????.
  • History Repeats: Sort of averted. While Torchic is not a starter option in this game, this still marks the very first time after six main runs set in Hoenn that a non-Fire starter was picked, with the Grass-type Nimbleaf being chosen instead. Not that it saved it from later being boxed and eventually released.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Among the NPCs in Dewford City that are discussing the randomly-generated trendy phrase, which in this case turned out to be "LESS LIVING", is one that delivers this gem of logic:
NPC: I can't imagine what life would be like without "LESS LIVING"!
  • Mythology Gag: Some variations on the "Dewfon" copypastas, which popped up in the chat all throughout the run after some users pretended that the game was softlocked due to Mr. Briney's boat being stuck in Dewford City (which was not he case), were variations on other popular copypastas from TPP.
    • Based on the "This song is amazing" copypasta from Twitch Plays Touhoumon:
This boat is amazing; it conveys a lot of softlocks. After the Dewfon part in the middle, it sounds like you have no chance of getting the second badge, but then the game quickly recovers and you feel full of hope again. It keeps alternating between a softlock and progress. Finally, everything goes downhill when the last save state is loaded.
    • Based on the "I troll only because of your sins" copypasta, although missing a few parts due to the character limit on Twitch chat messages:
You know what I hate? The fact that we 10% of the playerbase end up softlocked due to the "leave the boat in Dewfon" attitude. So the solution I propose is people please for the good of the run: make something for putting us back. I think we need further actualization on the last savestate if you will. Have you ever heard the phrase: softlocking is about the boat, not the second badge? I don't like softlocking. Its self sacrificial in nature.
  • Permanently Missable Content: Subverted with Lylapse and Ganimede, two Legendary Pokémon that were knocked out when first encountered. While this would normally make them permanently unavailable, the stream operator eventually fiddled with the game to make them appear again, allowing for another chance at catching them.
  • One-Letter Name: The team's Necrosia was named "U", which pulled an amusing twist on several in-game messages ("U fell asleep", "U gained experience", "Goodbye, U"), and, among the people who disliked it, prompted jokes such as "U Sucks" or "Fuck U".
  • Running Gag: Sirius continues the running gag of names resembling "ass" that started during The Gauntlet with an Abra nicknamed "ASSS".
  • Tyop on the Cover: The message that gave birth to the several copypastas about the boat being stuck misspelled the name of Dewford Town as "Dewfon". As a result, every subsequent copypasta spelled the name as "Dewfon" as well. invoked
  • Unintentionally Unwinnable: Played With. After blacking out in Dewford Town and being sent back to Slateport City, some people began claiming that, because Mr. Briney's boat was still back in Dewford Town, they were now locked out of the second badge. While this wasn't actually the case, as the game does handle that situation and moves the boat to a shore the player can actually access, it still ended up being the source of several copypastas that the chat kept posting all throughout the run.
Hello, we got a problem, we can't finish the game because the boat is stuck at Dewfon and we don't have the second badge, is it possible to make something for putting us back please ? Like the last save state ? Thanks for your reading.
  • The Unpronounceable: The team featured some serious tongue-twisters, including but not limited to A06HHHHHH, AABBDDEE, 001111110Z, and Acwww’ FA. The main character himself, BBCBBHH, also qualifies.
  • Utility Party Member: Kapawondo's stats are not particularly impressive, but he is a permanent fixture of the team nonetheless due to being able to use Surf, Waterfall, and Rock Smash outside of battle.

Hello, problem is fixed, we finished the game because the boat is no longer stuck at Dewfon and we have the second badge, we didn't need something for putting us back please ? No need for last save state ? Thanks for your reading.
