Go To

Patafoin's Life In Pokemon is a series of sprite animations by Patafoin based off of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. The series follows Patafoin, a Vulpix who finds himself in Wigglytuff's guild when wanting to use their map. He eventually decides to join the guild and befriends Triangly, a confused newly evolved Glaceon who Does Not Know His Own Strength, and LucasRPDJ, a Butt-Monkey Lucario.

At first, it started out as a quest to find "perfect apples" for Wigglytuff until a human starts capturing Pokemon with Poke Balls off screen, leading the Pokemon to go on a quest to find a way to defeat the human.

The series can be found here.

  • Catchphrase: "REVENGE!" is this for HardSonicStorm.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Triangly thinks the events of "Eeveelution Tournament" was All Just a Dream, but then Kwelsonic tells him that he saw him (fighting) and said he was awesome. Triangly takes this the wrong way.
    Triangly: My snoring was awesome?
  • Disability Immunity: Triangly is immune to all confusion inflicting moves... because he's been confused ever since episode 2.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Ivan the Charizard is supposed to be keeping watch of the tower's insideā€¦ but he prefers to watch his "monitor show", which apparently involves watching the back sprites of several attractive Pokémon.
  • Does Not Know His Own Strength: Because Triangly is always confused, he doesn't know what his move pool is at first, and is still learning. As the series goes on, it becomes evident that alongside the obvious joke moves, Triangly actually has access to an enormous variety of moves, including powerful moves such as Hyper Beam. An Espeon who reads his mind becomes outright terrified when they read his move pool, causing them to forfeit. Episode 11 reveals the true extent of his power when his body gets controlled by Stakataka, showing that Triangly, an ice type, is able to easily overpower Patafoin, a fire type.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Shadic15, a Gardevoir. Because of the Early-Installment Weirdness of the Pokemon being unnamed, this sets up the perfect Unsettling Gender-Reveal.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: In episode 1, none of the Pokemon are known by their real names except for Patafoin.
  • Humans Are the Real Monsters: The Big Bad of the series is a human, capturing the residents of the world for an unknown purpose.
  • Goldfish Poop Gang: HardSonicStorm the Bisharp and his two Pawnard minions, Sergey ESN and ShadowDragon23, are reoccurring villains who never get a break.
  • No Name Given: The Wobbuffet. No one knows his real name because he only says "WUZZAH!!!"
  • No-Sell: Triangly can't be hypnotized or confused by other Pokemon... because he's been confused since episode 2. He's not immune to his body being controlled, however.
  • Origins Episode: In "Eeveelution Tournament," an Eevee named Sylveon hosts a tournament to find a Worthy Opponent to test her new unique style. Triangly came up on top and thus was chosen to challenge Sylveon. At the end of the battle, Triangly uses Sleep Talk, which summons Draco Metor... which had no effect on Sylveon. Sylveon takes this as a sign that she has moved on from being an Eevee and thanks Triangly with a kiss.
  • People Puppets: Triangly is controlled by Stakataka in episode 11, who makes him use the full extent of his power against Triangly. Triangly doesn't seem to mind too badly, since he's learning new moves in the process.
  • Running Gag: Triangly can't be confused because they're already confused since episode 2.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: In episode 1, after having been wrongfully thought to have been applying for the guild, Wigglytuff gives him a green apple, convincing him to stay. Remember, Wigglytuff almost entered Unstoppable Rage when Patafoin said he likes green apples.
  • Unsettling Gender-Reveal: Gardevoir, later known as Shadic15, has been given a love confession by a Shiftry. Gardevoir laughs and reveals that they're actually a boy, causing Shiftry to get launched at the camera in shock.
  • Villainous Rescue: As Triangly is being controlled by Stakataka and is launching a huge attack at Patafoin, HardSonicStorm comes in to get his revenge, only to get hit by the attack. He gets mad at Stakataka for causing the attack to hit him and defeats him in one strike, allowing Patafoin and Triangly to escape.

Shadic15 Is a boy

Just when Shiftry confessed his feelings to Shadic1, he revealed that he is actually a guy than a girl, much to Shiftry's disturbance.

How well does it match the trope?
