incendiary is an animator on YouTube who creates fan animations of several works, mainly The Binding of Isaac. They usually feature audio from other sources, and focus on one character as they go about their lives.

Their YouTube can be found here.

Nothin' to see here but these tropes.

  • Art Shift: During Edith's dream, the artstyle shifts to something more akin to the original game's cutscenes.
  • Break the Haughty: Tainted Jacob's run starts off rather well with Jacob strolling about with pride, gathering a ton of money early and getting Dead Cat from a Hell Game. Then he walks into a monster trap room indicated as having free money and... well, see Wrestler in All of Us.
  • Came Back Wrong: The Tainted characters are all this. After death, the playable characters end up respawning in Home as a corrupted, darker version of themself. It's stated that this somehow is a crucial step in bringing back Isaac. Death after that appears to be final, though.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Despite being focused on The Binding of Isaac, its titular character is conspicuously missing. This is actually invoked by the series itself, referencing his disappearance as an in-universe mystery going on in the background. He finally makes an appearance in "Edith: Eyes of the Parish," but only as a dream.
  • Dead to Begin With: Tieing into her debut video, Bethany is dead by the time Maggy goes to collect her soul for the Binding process. The problem that the party has to deal with is the numerous dips keeping them from gathering it.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The first few videos mostly used singular clips for their audio. It was "Tainted Jacob" that made the shift to using many different sources of audio. The next video to return to this general format, "Tainted Lazarus," still uses more sound effects than the earlier videos, alongside background music from The Binding of Isaac itself.
  • Easily Forgiven: Esau initially hates Jacob as much as he does in-canon, but by "Moriah Undergrounds: The Binding of Isaac," they've made up, with Esau coming to Jacob's defense when Lazarus shows up.
  • Fat Bastard: Tainted ???, befitting his voice's source, is fat and crude. The main difference is that ??? is a lot shittier.
  • Flip Personality: Tainted Lazarus constantly flips between Dead and Alive, both arguing at each other calling the other a faker. Eventually, they come to a Split-Personality Merge.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The quick pace of the videos helps hide some easter eggs, such as Esau's birthright in Jacob's possession or Apollyon's messages to Edith. A common easter egg hidden like this is some text thanking the viewer for pausing.
  • Going Postal: Downplayed with Tainted Magdalene. In earlier episodes she was a much more genuine, if grouchy, librarian, but as of "Edith: Eyes of the Parish," she's started stealing from the Cathedral alongside Dead Lazarus.
  • Halfway Plot Switch: "Tainted Apollyon" starts as a parody of Animal Crossing, but after Apollyon gets serious about trying to catch a blue spider, it suddenly shifts to a parody of Pokémon.
  • Hidden Depths: For a statue made of salt who can only move via Teleport Spam, Edith apparently is a good enough fighter to be Apollyon's sparring partner.
  • Only Sane Woman: Out of everybody, Edith is the only one in the Cathedral to notice Tainted Maggy and Tainted Lazarus carrying a large bag around, but she can't do anything about them due to being external security. Not even the internal security acknowledges them, although there's not much they could do being an immobile Bishop. Maggy sends her back home with The Fool once the work day ends to make sure she doesn't investigate on her own free time.
  • Original Generation: In the background of "Tainted Lazarus" is a human woman resembling Edith playing with Apollyon. Given Edith's original story in the Bible, her human form may be her untainted form, with her salt counterpart originally created for Antibirth being her Tainted version.
  • Punny Name: When full names are given, they're almost always a pun.
  • Retirony: Keeper specifically notes that that the episode of "Tainted Keeper's Change Chase" in "Moriah Undergrounds: The Binding of Isaac" will be the last show of his career, but the show cuts to a technical difficulty screen as Lazarus kills him seconds later.
  • Sadistic Game Show: "Tainted Keeper's Change Chase" downplays this. While the show itself is pretty normal, Greed ends up winning a free knife, which Tainted Keeper claims "was inside [Greed] all along"… meaning he was stabbed through the chest with it.
  • Split-Personality Merge: Tainted Lazarus comes to this by the end of his video. He can also summon a reflection of himself (not unlike his Birthright) that is completely under his control.
  • Synthetic Voice Actor: Strangely enough, Tainted Keeper is this, also making him the only character to not primarily speak in audio clips.
    • In the last part of "Moriah Underground: The Binding of Isaac," Delirium and ??? use this as they look over the unconscious Judas and Lilith.
  • Who Writes This Crap?!: Tainted Keeper ends up firing the trivia question producer of "Change Chase" after said questions make no sense in the slightest.
Tainted Keeper: Question 2: When is Tainted Lilith? (Beat) Who wrote these questions?!
  • Wrestler in All of Us: Tainted Jacob enters a wrestling ring, conveniently as Dark Esau shows up. He then begins beating his brother to a pulp eight times over thanks to Jacob possessing Dead Cat, whilst acting like a wrestler. Esau then pulls this on Tainted Lazarus after he kills Jacob, obliterating him with a shoulder slam.
