Go To

  • Celebrity Voice Actor:
    • In the Latin American Spanish dub, the Grinch is voiced by Eugenio Derbez and Donna by also the Colombian actress Fanny Lu.
    • In the Japanese dub, the titular Grinch is voiced by the movie actor Yo Oizumi, better known for videogame fans as the Japanese voice of the titular Professor Layton and also playing Kureo Mado in the Tokyo Ghoul live-action film. Donna is also played by fashion model Anne Watanabe.
    • In the Brazilian dub, the Grinch is voiced by Lázaro Ramos.
  • Fake American: Benedict Cumberbatch (who is British) voices the Grinch with an American accent.
  • Meaningful Release Date: The Grinch is said to have had to deal with Whoville and Christmas for 53 years. This film was released approximately 52 years after the original animated adaptation from 1966. In addition, the film began its run in some theaters on November 8, 2018, eighteen years after the release of the 2000 Live-Action Adaptation.
  • Out of Holiday Episode: The US DVD release was on February 5, 2019.
  • Playing Against Type: Prior to co-directing this film, Scott Mosier had been Kevin Smith's producer on his first eight films (Clerks to Zack and Miri Make a Porno). Not exactly the guy you'd think would direct a children's film.
  • Referenced by...: For Christmas 2018, SiIvaGunner was taken over by Illumination's The Grinch, though this was mainly a reference to the "Grinch Leak".
  • Role Reprise:
    • In the Latin American Spanish dub, Ruben Cerda returns to provide the titular character's singing voice, like he did for the live-action film.
    • In the Swedish dub, Andreas Nilsson returns to voicing the titular character just as he did for the 2000 movie.
    • Frank Welker returns as Max after previously doing the vocals in the live action movie.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Brad Dourif was to narrate the film but had been replaced by Pharrell Williams.
    • The studio originally wanted Benedict Cumberbatch to voice the Grinch using his natural voice, but Cumberbatch felt that it would make more sense for the Grinch to have an American accent, especially since the rest of the cast is made up of American actors.
