Main series

    Episode 1: I Am King

Episode 2: A King for Whose Sake
  • Kogane and Boone interrupt Racules' broadcast to N'Kosopa to plead for Gira to come home. Gira can only shout Racules' name in sheer anger as the king's knights take them away.

    Episode 4: A Lordly Reception
  • Before Kaguragi hands over Gira to Rita, for the first time we see him drop the act and apologize for what he is about to do. He seems to genuinely regret having to sell Gira out to protect Toufu, but the safety of his kingdom and its people come before everything, even his own feelings or morality.
Kaguragi: I beg for your forgiveness. My people are my life. For their sake, I will cover myself in mud and dirty my hands. That is who I am... the lordly king, Kaguragi Dybowski!

Episode 5: The King of Winter is Coming
  • When Morphonia suggests that Gira blame Rita for his incarceration, he simply responds that he can't hate them because they're upholding justice — however ruthless it may be. He sadly notes that even though he understands this, it's still incredibly frustrating because he can't speak for himself.

Episode 7: The Fury of the Gods
  • The Reveal that Hymeno's parents were assassinated 15 years ago via lethal injection, with Hymeno being a first-hand witness to it.
  • When Yanma claims that Hymeno should direct her revenge towards the assassin instead of God Scorpion, Hymeno angrily responds that he doesn't know what it's like to lose someone he loves. Yanma's response to her claim is eerily somber.
Himeno: You have no idea what it's like to lose the people that you love!
Yanma: (turns his head towards Hymeno) You're right, I don't. (turns back to his laptop) I've never met my parents. That grief from losing them... is simply a luxurious privilege.

Episode 10: The Fabled Guardian Deity
  • After losing to Desnarok, seeing the cocoons empowered, losing Gira, and their advisors passed out from having been strangled by Desnarok to near death, the four kings are ready to throw the towel and evacuate their kingdoms. The hopelessness is visible even in Rita's eyes.
  • Among all of the monarchs, Yanma is shown to be the most shaken by the situation, constantly being shown on the verge of breaking down. His conversation with Shiokara is simply heartbreaking to watch, as he uncharacteristically refers himself as the king when he tries to defend himself being the sole protector of N'Kosopa while clearly trying to hold back his tears.
  • When Morphonia asks Rita if they think they can protect Gokkan on their own, they bluntly admit that they can't. However, because of their devotion to neutrality, they feel that they need to do it on their own for the sake of their people. Morphonia sounds like she's on the verge of tears when she responds to their claims.

Episode 11: Mysterious! The Man in the Spider Mask
  • The episode cuts to Kogane and Boon, who are unaware that Gira is alive, wondering if the rumors are true that he is dead. Boon wants to go to the funeral to find out and ask Kogane if she thinks Gira is truly dead, but she deflects the question.

    Episode 12: The Sixth King
  • After giving cryptic clues to the other King-Ohgers throughout the episode, Jeramie finally reveals his backstory to them and the audience — he is the son of the sixth hero of Tikyu and a female Bognnarok who fell in love with each other during the war 2,000 years ago. The two were seen as traitors by their respective races and all historical records of them were erased. In order to protect Jeramie from the prejudice he would face if his mixed heritage were discovered, his parents had to seal away his powers, something he was subjected to as a mere child. This motivated Jeramie to bring about a world in which all bigotry was eradicated.
Jeramie: I'm neither human, nor Bognarrok. This world is full of people who exist on the margins, out of the sight of kings like you. They live, as much as anyone else, but they're not treated as such.
    • The build up to the moment you can see his frustration as his mask cracks and finally breaks, showing the stress he been under after 2,000 years of being alone, stuck between two worlds, neither of which would want or accept him.
  • The reason Kaguragi aligns himself with Racules is revealed: Racules has Kaguragi's sister, with the veiled threat that her life is safe as long as Dybowski remembers who in charge. You can see the normally perfectly controlled Kaguragi struggling to keep his composure.

    Episode 13: The Angry Spider
  • Yanma shares his Rags to Riches life story with Jeramie, who decides to trust him and even lends Yanma the Venomix Shooter for examination after sharing how important the gun is to him. It turns out to be an extremely poor choice as Yanma's first idea is to uses the illusion ability of Venomix Shooter to create a giant whoopie cushion to prank Racules with. As if desecrating a precious family heirloom was not bad enough, the Bognaarok attacks again, so not only does Jeramie feel betrayed by Yanma, he is sick and tired of Bognaarok's constant warmongering. He gives everyone "The Reason You Suck" Speech, slaughters the attacking Bognaarok and takes the kings' OhgerCaliburs to punish them for their pettiness. What makes this doubly tragic is this was entirely preventable if it weren't for Jeramie's insistence on obfuscating the true intentions behind his words.
  • A depressed Gerojim comes back to the underground lair after interrupting the Gira/Racules fight in #8 because apparently he has a death wish, which Desnarak is all to happy to fulfill. He gets strangled and then sent off on a suicide mission to either capture Jeramie or never come back. Jeramie pities him even as he is rampaging through Shugoddam.

    Episode 14: Together with Moffun
  • Throughout the episode, the normally poised and regal Hymeno is consumed by grief as all she can think of is killing Jeramie to avenge her parents. Even with the team trying to dissuade her, she is deadset on avenging her parents without figuring out the truth.
  • We find out that after the Fury of the Gods, Hymeno and the rest of the current generation had leadership thrust upon them after the deaths of their respective regimes. It really hits home how young Hymeno was when we see her as a child surrounded by servants as she sits on the throne, all the while she looks on with a clear expression of discomfort.
  • Rita calls out Jeramie for his ignorance towards Hymeno's feelings, telling him that expecting others to read between the lines without knowledge of their situation is incredibly ignorant. It causes Jeramie to realize how much of a Hypocrite and a Jerkass he been the whole time.
Jeramie: It seems that I was the one who didn't read between the lines.

Episode 15: A Visit to Suzume
  • While still in disguise, Gira stumbles upon the orphan kids who are all still depressed over his apparent death, looking incredibly saddened as Kogane walks past him.
  • Jeramie admits, problems with family was also his weakness, and feel sad for Suzume after what happened before.
  • Gira asks Kaguragi how can he be okay with Suzume's situation. While the latter responds that Gira shouldn't worried, it's clear that he is incredibly conflicted by her decision.
Gira: When you were worried for your sister, I could tell that it wasn't a lie. Isn't your heart... crying right now?
  • Suzume staying with Racules, well-intentioned as it may be, means Kaguragi's attempt to save her and keep Toufu out of Racules' grasp are rendered moot, as he finds himself having to keep playing toadie to keep everything he loves safe.

Episode 17: A King Does Not Flee
  • As if Jeramie didn't have it rough already, Racules drops the bombshell that he helped revive the Bognaarok juggernaut Daigorg. He does not take this well, having to delude himself into believing that only he can achieve peace in order to cope with the situation.
  • After releasing Gira to hurry and save Yanma before Daigorg crushes him, Shiokara has a moment where he bawls when he witnesses Yanma's possible death.

Episode 18: The Crown of Beginnings
  • While Jeramie's Heroic BSoD is Played for Laughs this episode, it's still a little heartbreaking to see him so hopeless after what he's witnessed.
  • Gira tries to get Racules to remember his childhood dream, recalling that Racules wanted to be a king alongside his people, unifying them under one nation. When it looks like he's about to crack, Racules dismisses it as a child's fantasy, which causes Gira to give him a powerful The Reason You Suck speech about what it means to be a true king.
    • The memory of the past becomes more tragic, not only because we saw that Racules was good person who has now become a petty tyrant, but also we see two brothers who loved each other so much, who now hold ideals so vastly different they are willing to kill the other for them.
  • When Racules returns to Shugoddam, the throne room is empty. While he is a villain, it's a reminder that he thrown away everything in his quest to rule over Chikyu, and he doesn't have anyone or anything else.

    Episode 20: Duel of Kings
  • Racules' reaction to seeing Boshimar turn into Kamejim is to give him the Death Glare and question for how long he has been spying, what happened to the real Boshimar, and whether or not Kamejim killed him. Knowing his aide was long dead and that he has been used by the Bugnarook all along pushes Racules deep into Tranquil Fury as he marches towards Kamejim and the Sanagims.
    • In Racules' mind, Boshimar is seen giving a slightly embarrassed but friendly smile.

    Episode 23: Shuggodam's Moving Castle
  • Gira is restless at the throne, while listening to his people's plea for help and screams, but is told by Yanma to stay because he needs to activate the castle as soon as it is ready. When questioned how it feels, Gira dons a mournful expression while claiming "It's painful...", with Yanma telling him to bear it and make the kingdom's pain his own.

Episode 24: King Of The In-between Vs King Of The Abyss
  • Jeramie coming to a realization that he is responsible for creating the discrimination between humans and the Bognaarok from the legend that he made. Which is why it would make coexistence between the two races seem impossible.

Episode 26: Birth of a New Kingdom
  • Dethnaarok's fate was effectively set into stone: As Gerojim reveals, eating a Shugod's soul shortens their lifespan and will lead to their death soon enough. Had he lost, won, or turned over a new leaf, nothing would have changed for him and he would still die.
    • Hymeno points out that Gerojim has grown giant before, and Gerojim poetically implies he has been dead all along and that only his ghost remains, although it can also be that he feels dead inside for having consumed Shugod's souls before.
  • The little black God Tarantula tries to console Dethnaarok, knowing what is bound to come and apparently offering their own soul if needed, but Dethnaarok tells them off. If only so for their own well-being.
  • With the duel over, Dethnaarok is on the verge of a Heel Realization, only to be impaled by Kamejim's Mushimalpin and is about to be blasted by some force from outer space, yet there is Jeramie pitifully trying to save his life in vain. Knowing this, Dethnaarok relinquishes his kingdom and people to Jeramie and tosses him out of the blast zone. What is left of the former Bognaarok king is only his shadow burned into the pavement of Shugoddam.
    • Earlier the little God Tarantula was scouting a few flowers around Bognaarok territory. What for? For Dethnaarok's grave, of course. Or rather: to place it where the former Bognaarok King's shadow is forever burned.

    Episode 29: Unqualified King
  • Jeramie sacrificing the peace between the five kingdoms and Bognaarok so that Gira and the others can remain kings is heartbreaking, especially when he wanted to bring them closer together. The monarchs all look absolutely heartbroken and silent at his selfless actions to save them.
    • The fact that Jeramie worked so hard to achieve his dream of humans and the Bognaarok coming together... only to be forced to throw it all away and render his efforts All for Nothing.

    Episode 30: Frozen Balance
  • Karras did all she could to seal away Grodie, and yet, all her efforts were for naught as his sealing was undone and she ended up being killed for it, and revived as a pawn by the same person she tried to seal away.
  • The state of Grodie’s zombies is pitiful - they retain parts of their personalities and intentions, but are barely aware of what’s happening around them, leaving them stumbling around agitated and clumsily lashing out. Karras attacking Ishabana felt less like a berserk attack or mindless violence and more like she remembered she needed to use her powers to seal away some great evil, but couldn’t understand where she was or who she needed to fight.
  • It is not entirely evident, but knowing that Karras was dead on arrival has actually managed to shake Rita a little.
  • Hymeno is about to break in tears when she is trying to stop Rita from sealing themselves with Grodie.
  • Siron being unceremoniously killed off, just as he finally found his wife after 15 years of separation.

Episode 31: Love Lasting 2000 Years
  • We see the main reason Nephila isn't around by the present day; she died protecting Jeramie from the other Bognaarok soldiers in the past. To make it worse, she died in front of his eyes, and even under his sealing mask it's made very clear that he's utterly broken at her death.
  • When Nephila has to be finished off by Jeramie, only the sad music and their voices are heard, as to drive home this is not some grand scene or anything... It's their final farewell.
  • Jeramie had said before that the lack of subtext in the phrase "I love you" meant it was too simple and straightforward for him. Here, as he says goodbye to his mother one last time, its something he'd always wished he'd been able to say to her.

    Episode 34: Shugo Mask's Counterattack
  • The royals return from Earth, expecting a warm welcome from the people of Tikyu... only for their subjects to hurl rocks at them angrily, thinking that their kings have abandoned them. Adding insult to injury, the five countries have already been taken over by the Jesters and Shugo Mask, who is Racules in disguise.
  • Gira is initially tempted to let Shugo Mask have his way, since he on the surface did what Gira couldn't; bring peace to everyone on his own.

    Episode 35: Don't Cry, Slack-Jawed Tanuki
  • Rather than give in to Hillbill's demands, Yanma destroys his personal computer, the heart of his kingdom's network, just to save Shiokara. Shiokara cries after seeing what Yanma sacrificed to save him, with their kingdom now in ruins. Not that it really bothers Yanma, as he affirms that they can rebuild the kingdom.
Yanma: Don't cry, you slack-jawed tanuki. We're just starting from 0.
    • In the flashback, when Yamma is threatened by the yakuza-like boss to work for him or he'll come after his loved ones. His response? He doesn't have the privilege of having something he'll miss.

    Episode 37: Iroki's Rebellion
  • Iroki and Kaguragi's story is that Iroki was aware of the poisoned rice and hoarded it to protect everyone, but got labelled as a tyrant. This led to the passionate rice farmer Kaguragi leading a rebellion against her, only for him to see her in her dying moments pleading to lie about what he saw and to claim he killed her. By the time he comes out of the burning castle, he is nearly catatonic, looking into the distance, as his sister realizes their queen's blood is on his hands.
    • When told to cut her down, Kaguragi was unable to, hyperventilating and looking at the sheathed sword in his hands. When Iroki realizes he cannot do it, she angrily calls him a "traitor" and dies to the fire and poison instead.

Episode 40: We Are King and Prince
  • Gira does not take it well to being revealed to be Dagded's creation and looks very close to breaking, especially because once again Racules turns Shugoddam against him.

    Episode 42: King Rcules' Secret
  • The fact that Rcules essentially gave up everything to obtain the power to kill Dagded and end his rule to ensure that the people of Shugoddam and by extension the entire planet will finally be saved from the terror of the mad galactic king.
  • For a moment, Gira dreads Rcules is going to die in his arms, and holds him close, mumbling "Brother..." in a tearful tone especially since he just learned the truth behind his brother's evil actions and see him as the Cool Big Bro he remembered.

Episode 43: The King's Great Sin
  • Boshimar dying to Kamejim, trying defiantly to protect Gira from his grasp.
  • Causus' last conversation with Rcules, where he's trying to convince his son to put aside his emotions and see Gira as a tool to destroy Dugded in order to save the future of humanity in Tikyū. From the way he's telling this, it is clear that he's trying to convince himself of what he's saying just as much as his son.
Causus: Rcules, unless the Galactinsect King is slain, we have have no future. Put Gira to use and battle out enemy.
Rcules: I can't, sir. Gira is my brother!
Causus: If you understand the pain of losing your family, then imagine thousands, tens of thousands, of our people feeling the same pain. To save our people and to save their future families, you must kill your emotions. That is a king's duty.

Episode 45: Heirs Of The King
  • Minongan openly weeps over Hilbil's death and demands to be the one to avenge her death.

Episode 46: Behold the Beauty of Life
  • Grodie's pitiful tone when he realized he's not dead can hit quite hard, since he has been given a hope spot not long ago and realized it had been yanked from him somehow.
  • The Bognarook graveyard, numerous Sanagim graves marked by their gun shovel, and next to the entrance is a massive slab of Shuggodam pavement where with Desnarak's burned silhouette, whom Jeramie still pays his respects to.
  • After Hymeno expresses how she hates the thought of others dying and how she wishes everyone could be immortal, Gira reveals he actually is scared of being immortal because he feels that is not the same as being alive. Thankfully, Hymeno comes to realize that he can't be immortal, since he too is aging like a human being.

     Episode 47: Silence God
  • Corsus's attempts to defy Dadged end up to be All for Nothing when Dadged reveals that he wanted Gira to de-evolve and become like Grodie, rendering his efforts pointless in the long run.

     Episode 48: Farewell, Dear People
  • The entire episode can be considered one long heartbreak after the other:
    • Jeramie's narration is set over a desolated Shugoddam, with most of the monarchs unconscious and bleeding as Gira inches towards Dadged, intent on making one last stand no matter what.
    • The content of Jeramie's narration is uncharacteristically solemn as he recalls why people create stories, capping this off by stating that the Ohsama Sentai's final story is set to begin, truly setting the stage for their last battle.
    • With the idea of Yanma's upgrade being completely nixed due to the circumstances of Jeramie's Proof and Dadged's rapid-fire attacks, Rita declares that the Ohsama Sentai are to initiate Evacuation Plan Zero. While the team try to fend off Dadged on Tikyū for as long as they can, the citizens are to board onto the Caucasus Kabuto Castle find a new home, hopefully creating the weapon needed to defeat Dadged with the King's Proofs, with the citizens and retainers being none the wiser until the time came.
    • Gerojim accidentally releases the message stored on Jeramie's Venomix Shooter, which accidentally reveals the entire plan to Tikyū's people. They are left in complete silence after the message is over, clearly reeling.
    • Douga confronts Rcules for hiding the truth being Zero, rebuking him for not stopping the monarchs. Rcules completely breaks at this, clearly afraid that his little brother and his comrades are going off on what is essentially a Suicide Mission for the sake of their people. What's more, he tries to convince the people that they need to trust Ohsama Sentai, but his reactions afterward clearly indicate that he's not as convinced as he wants to be.

Episode 49: The King is Here
  • Gira, the only monarch still able to stand and fight, is unable to do anything but watch as God Caucasuskabuto suddenly crashes after takeoff, rendering the evacuation plan null and void. Sure, the viewers may have known that nobody actually went through with it, but it does very little to dilute the sheer anguish clearly seen on Gira's face.
  • Once the support from the Land of the Dead have to return to the afterlife, it is shown Boshimar And Douga side by side at a moment, and as Boshimar disappears it is clear that Douga is holding back his tears.
