The fanfic, as with other Iron117Prime works, tends to make a lot of references to other media. However, because it was one of his earlier fanfics, there is often the case where the author's own works get recursively referenced in the fanfic.
Fairy May Cry
- Mundus's 'offer' to Precht has him ask 'Would you rather serve in Heaven, or rule in Hell?' When his new minion makes the same offer to Dante, the Son of Sparda gives War's response, saying he chooses the option that a coward wouldn't.
Devil's Retribution
- Lucy is given her family's ancestral weapon early on (which was a gift from Sparda), the Morningstar. Likewise, in her fight with Flare, she wields both whips like Trevor Belmont.
- Sanctus reveals to Lucy that he killed her father by indirectly placing a tumor on his head, not unlike Ego being the one killing Peter Quill's mom.
- This would not be the only fanfic by Iron117Prime to feature the primary antagonists using the body of a protagonist's parent to further their plan.
- When talking to Michelle, Dante mentions that Lucy once tried writing a horror book about an Invisible Man.
- The talk between Nero and Sparda is basically the same as that of Bakugo and All Might following the former's victory in the Joint Training Arc.Sparda: You gave me chills.
Nero: What? You got a cold or something? I thought you were a ghost. - Sapphire calls out Ivan's desire to take down Fairy Tail only resulted in a massive case of tunnel vision, not unlike Leonardo calling out Hans in Frozen Turtles. Her decision to switch sides and team up with Laxus mirrors the actions of Gino and Nonette in Code Prime, during the Black Rebellion.
- Kurenai warns Kagura about how revenge can be poisonous and it can turn one person's character for the worst, similar to how Aunt May warned Peter about it. It's also a recursive one to Code Prime where Mrs. Kozuki warns Suzaku, Arcee, and Kallen about the same.
- The nature of Kurenai and Kagura's relationship is similar to that of Optimus Prime and Lelouch vi Britannia's, respectively.
- During Dante and Vergil's fight in Devils and Dragons, the two have an exchange similar to Stan and Ford Pines.Dante: Slugfest, bro! Me and you!
Vergil: It's 'you and I'. (slams him into the ground) Grammar, Dante. - Sparda gives Gray some advice that no matter how powerful a weapon may be, its user will always be its core flaw.
- Kyrie's new spells with her Arc of Seraph are stated by Word of God to be inspired by the Goddess Clan from The Seven Deadly Sins.
- One of Lady's new Steel Devil Slayer spells is called Nemean Cestus, a pair of lion-faced gauntlets that create shockwaves.
- After Moloch succeeds in making Dante angry, he quickly finds himself sent flying and disarmed of his weapon. This is followed by Dante contemptuously kicking it towards him, and saying the below line as the demon looks at him in fear.Dante: Pick it up. Pick. It. Up.
- The end of the fight between Dante and Moloch in True Justice has the latter down and shouting at Dante to show no mercy, just like the Final Battle between Commander Cruger and Emperor Gruumm. Instead, Dante refuses to kill him and takes off Moloch's remaining horn, just like Cruger does to Gruumm, the difference being the first horn Moloch lost to Sparda long ago rather than Dante again.Dante: Now they match!
- Lucia's smack down on Minerva draws parallels to Top's beatdown on Frieza, even going as far as to squeeze their head in one hand.Lucia: Trash deserves to be tossed, correct?
- Likewise, Orga shooting and impaling Jura In the Back brings to mind Sorbet doing the same to Goku during Frieza's return.
- Juvia's Finishing Move during her fight with Sting is called Roar of the Sea Dragon.
