This episode provides examples of:

Overall:

Bag That Bunny:

  • Attack! Attack... Retreat! Retreat!: This line from Elmyra when Calamity gets caught in the trap he set;
Elmyra: We got him! We got him! We got him!
(Elmyra sees Calamity is in the trap.)
    Elmyra: We didn't get him.
  • Butt-Monkey: Calamity, thanks in part to Elmyra interfering with his plans to catch Buster.
  • Closest Thing We Got: After Calamity fails to catch Buster three times and sets off the trap in his third attempt, Elmyra decides to make Calamity her pet rabbit, because that way, she'll save three months' worth of allowance.
  • Jerkass Ball: Calamity unsuccessfully tries to catch Buster for Elmyra, and ends up becoming her pet. He escapes from her and the rest of the Elmyra Swarm in the second wraparound.
  • Rule of Three: Calamity makes three attempts to catch Buster; the first with a net and an ACME jet-powered pogo stick, the second with an ACME bunny extractor, and the third with a trap using a basket of carrots as bait. None of these are successful, thanks in part to Elmyra's interference.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Calamity is about to quit after his second failed attempt to catch Buster results in him getting flattened by Hamton. It takes Elmyra promising to pay him three months of allowance if he succeeds to get him to resconsider.
  • Seesaw Catapult: When Elmyra interferes with Calamity's second attempt to catch Buster with the ACME Bunny extractor, she presses a button that launches Calamity into the air, causing him to land on the seesaw. Hamton is on the other end, eating a popsicle, and is launched into the air, where he lands on Calamity. Calamity later gets launched by another seesaw when he sets off the trap from his third attempt to catch Buster.
  • Suddenly Speaking: Calamity says, "Uh-oh!", when Elmyra gets mad at him when his third attempt to catch Buster fails.

Lifestyles of the Rich and Rotten:

  • Affectionate Parody: Of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.
  • The Ahnold: Arnold the Pit Bull.
  • Grail in the Garbage: Monty has many expensive treasures in his dumpster.
  • Right-Hand Attack Dog: Arnold serves as this to Monty.
  • Rump Roast: Arnold's butt catches fire when he accidentally falls into Monty's popcorn machine in a failed attempt to catch Buster and Babs in Monty's private cinema.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money! : Montana Max. He cancels his interview that he had scheduled with Buster and Babs so he can count his weekly allowance, even after Buster and Babs call him out on this.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Monty chases after Arnold with a mallet for failing to kick Buster and Babs out of his mansion, Arnold says that he's going back to Romania, where it's safe.
  • Tearing Through the Movie Screen: At one point in the episode, Buster and Babs watch 3D movies in Monty's private theater, and Arnold tears through the projection screen. Buster and Babs duck as Arnold pounces at them, causing him to land in the popcorn machine and burn his butt. Babs then comments on how life-like the 3D movies are, almost swearing they were real.
  • Trash Landing: When Monty has Arnold kick Buster and Babs out, Arnold tosses the two rabbits in a dumpster with Monty's discarded expensive treasures.

The Anvil Chorus:

  • Anvil on Head: The entire premise of this short.
  • Butt-Monkey: Plucky. He stars in this short for the sole purpose of getting hit by anvils.
  • Here We Go Again!: This short ends with Plucky starring in the 1812 Overture, wherein he gets blasted in the face by cannons.
  • Karma Houdini: Buster and Babs receive no comeuppance for their repeated dropping of anvils on Plucky or blasting cannons in his face. They even manage to avoid getting hit by the last anvil that says, "THE END".
  • Moral Guardians: The Adults Against Funny Cartoons Chairperson, who monitors the violence in this short. She ends up getting flattened by an anvil.
  • Oh, Crap!: Plucky thinks he's safe from anvils when he hides out in a building, only to find out that said building is the ACME Anvil Factory.
  • Who Writes This Crap?!: Plucky reads the script and complains about having to get hit by anvils every three seconds or so. He asks who wrote the script, and the camera cuts to some anthropomorphic anvils typing on a computer.
Plucky: Let me see that stupid script!
    (Plucky reads)
    Anvil drops on Plucky . . . anvil drops on Plucky . . .
two anvils drop on Plucky . . . GIANT ANVIL DROPS ON PLUCKY?!?
This is insane! Who wrote this slop?
(Cut to giggling anvils typing away)
    REWRITE!
