This episode has examples of:

  • Aside Glance: Sam says he's a big fan of Lou and admires his career. He then says he's sorry to see such an impressive career end tonight, prompting this surprised reaction from Lou.
  • Cooking the Live Meal: Narrowly escaped by Robin. Kermit had told the Swedish Chef that he'd be on in the second half of the show, but due to Fozzie's roller-skating act still needing work, Kermit makes the Chef go on before he's ready. The Chef then tries to take his revenge by cooking Robin.
Robin: [as the Chef raises the knife] Uncle Kermit! Somebody! Anybody! HELLLLLLP....!
    [Kermit and Scooter rush onstage.]
Kermit: Wait a minute! Hold it! Stop! Cut, cut, cut!
Robin: Don't say cut, say stop!
[Scooter hustles the Chef offstage as he protests in mock Swedish.]
  • Dancing with Myself: Gonzo can be seen doing this in the background towards the end of At The Dance.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Kermit makes the Swedish Chef go on before he's ready, so the Chef tries to cook Kermit's nephew on stage.
  • Dog Walks You: Floyd gives Lou Rawls Animal's chain, warning him not to let Animal chase any cars. Cue Lou getting dragged away.
  • Failures on Ice: Or onstage. Fozzie's roller-skating act goes fine at first, but then...
Fozzie: Uh... I'm gonna tell this next joke while skating... skating backwards, and with my foot in the air, wiggling my ears. [He raises one foot and starts wiggling his ears.] Here it goes... y'hah! Hoh! Aah! Okay... a guy walks into a diner. There's a horse behind the counter. The guy just looks at the horse. The horse says, "What's the matter, surprised to see me here?" And the guy says, "Yeah, did the cow sell the place?" AAAHH! [He crashes into the side of Statler and Waldorf's box.]
Statler: He was doing okay until he fell off the stage.
Waldorf: Wrong! He was doing okay until he came on the stage.
[They chortle as Fozzie gets up.]
Fozzie: "Did the cow sell the place?" [Laughs weakly.]
  • Furry Confusion: "Sonny Boy" sees Link Hogthrob share the stage with an actual piglet and dote on the little guy.
  • Hourglass Plot: Fozzie's roller-skating misadventures force the Swedish Chef up the bill before he's ready. Later on, Fozzie still isn't ready to do an act yet, while Chef is skating around backstage like it's nothing.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: After Fozzie finally manages to get the hang of skating, he tells Kermit that learning to skate is very difficult. A few seconds later, the Swedish Chef comes in, skating like a pro. He even does a loop-de-loop right next to Fozzie, as if to rub it in.
Fozzie: [irritated] Easy for you to say!
  • Interactive Narrator: The cast of Veterinarian's Hospital notice the announcer and ask who he is. He explains that he's the one who says "And now, Veterinarian's Hospital..." which leads to the sketch being done over again.
  • Papa Wolf: Kermit rushes the stage, after Robin cries out for help.
  • "Pop!" Goes the Human: Implied in the Veterinarian's Hospital sketch. Dr. Bob claims he only lost one patient due to accidentally giving him too much nitroglycerine.
Dr. Bob: Him I lost. But I found him again.
    Janice: Where?
Dr. Bob: In Iowa, Minnesota, North and South Dakota.
Piggy: That was him all over.
  • Rollerblade Good: Fozzie plans to perform his routine on roller skates and spends much of the show practicing, with hilarious results. Statler and Waldorf think it's a good idea, because "a moving target is harder to hit."
  • Self-Deprecation: After the Veterinarian's Hospital sketch is done over, the narrator dismissively notes the same corny jokes were done twice.
  • Stupidest Thing I've Ever Heard: The Newsman reports on people getting mallarditis, a disease that turns people into ducks.
Newsman: Mallarditis? That's the silliest thing I ever... Quack! Quack! Quack!
  • This Is Gonna Suck:
    • When Floyd warns to not let Animal chase any cars, Lou can guess what's going to happen and has this reaction.
    • Robin when he sees he's been made a participant in a Swedish Chef sketch.

Statler: I loved tonight's show!
Waldorf: Really?
Statler: Course not! Just wanted to see if I could say it!
