Gumball and Darwin try to find out the name of their neighbour, Antlers Guy, but accidentally blow his witness protection cover.

Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: The first episode focusing properly on Gary (the "antlers guy").
  • Bait-and-Switch: The episode opens up on a mailbox and a fire hydrant with the same colors as Gumball and Darwin, presumably as disguises to hide from Gary. The camera then cuts to reveal the actual Gumball and Darwin wearing snow suits.
  • Continuity Nod: Gumball signs a form as Zach W.
  • Cruel Twist Ending: Darwin and Gumball seemingly convince the mobsters that Gary/Harry is dead by destroying a dummy replica. As Gary celebrates that he can keep his life as his current home, it turns out the dummy was destroyed that way by accident, as they'd actually set his entire house to blow up.
  • Destroy the Evidence: When Gumball looks through the mailman's mail to learn his address (only for each letter to be address as 'recipient'), Darwin shreds the letters afterwards so that no one would know. Gumball then points out that they could've just put the letters back in the mailbox.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Richard's method to avoid the mailman, whose name he doesn't know either, is to stay inside on the couch and just have everything delivered. As Gumball and Darwin point out to him, however, the mailman would be the one delivering everything. Same thing with the JarPotties he has around the living room.
Richard: Didn't think that through either.
  • Endangering News Broadcast: To learn Gary's name, Gumball and Darwin sent out a notice asking about him, complete with his address, a map to his house, what his house looks like, and that the key is under a garden gnome.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Darwin thought it would snow, so he and Gumball put on snow suits to hopefully blend in with the snow. Gumball then corrects him that it's June.
  • Gave Up Too Soon: When the mailman visits Gumball's class, Gumball throws himself and Darwin out of a window to avoid the awkwardness of not knowing his name, which just makes them miss Principal Brown introducing him by name seconds later.
Darwin: Maybe we should've waited. Principal Brown was about to tell us his name.
    Gumball: Yup, I panicked.
  • Idiot Ball: Really, Darwin? Did you really have to shred up the letters when you could've put them back in the mailbox.
  • The Mafiya: Gary is being hunted down by two criminals with obvious Russian accents.
  • Noisy Guns: Two mobsters repeatedly cause a metallic clicking sound as they reach into their jackets, implying but not showing that they are armed.
  • Oh, Crap!: In the third flashback of their encounters with Gary, Gumball and Darwin get so shocked when Gary enters the classroom that they immediately crash through the window to flee just before Principal Brown can say his name.
  • Real Name as an Alias: When pretending to be a package deliverer, Gumball signs a form as "Zach W.", which used to be his name.
  • Skewed Priorities: At one point, Gumball resorts to attempting to open a letter addressed to the neighbor in order to find out his name. When Darwin points out that opening somebody else's mail is illegal, Gumball states that he would rather be in a literal prison than "a prison of social awkwardness".
  • Suedonym: The mailman Gary Hedges turns out to be in witness protection under an assumed name. He was previously known as... Harry Gedges.
