Jou and Mimi, accompanied by their Digimon, Ogremon, Meramon, Yukidarumon, Gekomon, and Otamamon, see the city part draining from Spiral Mountain and realize that Taichi and his group must have defeated a Dark Master. Ogremon identifies the final Dark Masters as Piemon, the strongest of the four. They continue on to find more Digimon who are willing to help them, and when Mimi says that she's hungry, Gekomon, Otamamon, and Yukidarumon go to get food for her. Palmon tells them that they're being nice to her because they like her, causing everyone else in the area to react awkwardly. Especially Jou.

Jou reflects on what Shin had said to him: that he should pursue what career goal in life he wants to do, not one his father wants him to do. He wonders if Yamato has found what he wants to do in life.

Hikari and the others set up a grave for the Numemon and look for Piemon. Piemon watches them from his observatory and decides to give them a "welcome" in the form of LadyDevimon, the Evil Counterpart of Angewomon.

Mimi regains her normal cheer, but Jou is troubled over what he's been thinking about. The group runs into the corrupted Village of Beginnings, where they look in horror at the frozen DigiEggs. Jou hears Yamato's harmonica and runs towards the sound, followed by Mimi.

With the help of Andromon, Koushirou uses his laptop to locate where they are in Spiral Mountain. They realize that they're at the top, which is where the Dark Masters are said to live — or to have lived, given that three of them are dead. They're attacked by LadyDevimon. LadyDevimon proves to be a formidable opponent, able to simultaneously take on six Digimon: two Ultimates (Angewomon and Andromon), three Champions (Angemon, Kabuterimon, and Birdramon), and Agumon. She effortlessly swats aside most of them except Angewomon, who is able to graze Ladydevimon with her Holy Arrow while the others distract her. Unfazed, LadyDevimon delivers a brutal uppercut that knocks Angewomon back.

Agumon insists on going ahead, evolving, and defeating her, but Taichi wisely realizes that while LadyDevimon can be easily defeated by WarGreymon, the others' Digimon should be able to eventually defeat LadyDevimon and Agumon needs to store his energy as the trump card. Because Taichi knows that Piemon won't be easy to defeat, he tells Sora to go out with Birdramon, Takeru, and Angemon, and find Yamato and the others before Piemon appears. He acknowledges that the experiences he's recently had have taught him that he can’t keep fighting recklessly and needs to make an appropriate plan. Sora, Takeru, Birdramon, and Takeru depart as Taichi commands, while Kabuterimon and Angewomon stay behind to hold LadyDevimon back.

Jou is disappointed to find that the one playing the harmonica isn't Yamato but Elecmon, who's depressed after seeing the Village of Beginning destroyed. Mimi invites Elecmon to join them in the fight against the Dark Masters, to which he agrees after hearing that Takeru and Patamon are fighting as well. Jou asks Elecmon where he found the harmonica and Elecmon says that he found it right there on the beach, making Mimi realize that Yamato must be nearby.

Jou tells Mimi to take their Digimon friends and find more allies while he and Gomamon go off after Yamato, saying that while he's aware Gomamon will never make it to Ultimate level, he still wants to be useful and do something that only he can do. Mimi is initially hesitant, but decides to honor his request.

LadyDevimon begins to overpower Angewomon with her battle-savvy, easily dodging Angewomon's Holy Arrows and countering her punches, even as Angewomon takes painful blows from Ladydevimon in meelee and struggles to repel her Darkness Wave at range. When LadyDevimon begins tossing Angewomon around like a rag doll by her long, blonde hair, Kabuterimon super-evolves to AtlurKabuterimon to save Angewomon. However, after AtlurKabuterimon catches her, Angewomon scolds him for interfering and once again lunges at LadyDevimon, with their brawl devolving into a slap-fest.

Angewomon: (slapping LadyDevimon) "It's on, bitch!"
LadyDevimon: (slapping Angewomon back) "What's wrong with you?"
Taichi: U-um...
Koushirou: Women are pretty scary when they're angry...
Hikari: (cheering) Don't lose to her! Get her! Take her down!

LadyDevimon wins the Cat Fight by defeating Angewomon with a Round House Kick, sending her crashing on the ground and knocking her out. LadyDevimon prepares to finish Angeowmon off with her Darkness Spear. However, AtlurKabuterimon intercepts the attack at the last moment and turns the tables, clearing the way to Piemon. Taichi sees Piemon approaching and Agumon warp-evolves to WarGreymon. Taichi urges WarGreymon to be careful as Sora and Takeru try to find the others, Mimi continues to gather allies, and Jou sets off in search of Yamato...

Tropes

  • Bitch Slap: The climax of the battle between LadyDevimon and Angewomon takes the form of a slapping match in which the two repeatedly strike at each other's cheeks while screaming indignantly at each other.
Angewomon: (slapping LadyDevimon) "It's on, bitch!"
LadyDevimon: (slapping back) "What's wrong with you?"
  • Brutal Brawl: Even though both of their signature attacks are ranged attacks, the bulk of the combat between Angewomon and LadyDevimon consists of a fierce melee in which the two exchange punches, kicks, and slaps.
  • By the Hair: LadyDevimon grabs a hold of Angewomon's tresses during their fight and tosses her around like a rag doll while insulting her hair. AtlurKabuterimonmanages to catch Angewomon after she is hurled away by LadyDevimon, but the enraged Angewomon tells AtlurKabuterimonto stay out of the way and shoots out of his hands to engage LadyDevimon in a slapping match.
LadyDevimon: (spinning Angewomon around by her blonde hair) "Never did like that bleached look!"
AtlurKabuterimon: (catching Angewomon) "Are you all right?"
Angewomon: (struggling to free herself from AtlurKabuterimon's grip) "Let me go! Let me at her!"
  • Cat Fight: The battle between LadyDevimonand Angewomon, both among the most powerful Ultimate Digimon in the series that specialize in holy and dark powers, takes the form of a slapping, hair-pulling catfight. The boys are infatuated with the fight, while Hikari cheers on Angewomon like a soccer mom.
Taichi: Wow, look at 'em go!
Koushirou: I know I shouldn't watch this, but I can't take my eyes off!
Hikari: (pumping her first into the air) Get her Angewomon! Knock that witch's block off! Go!
  • Designated Girl Fight: The fight between LadyDevimonand Angewomon is pretty blatantly made for the sake of having a girl catfight — the fight at one point degenerates into them slapping each other silly, and it's even called "The Girls' Battle" in the Japanese title!
  • Heroic Second Wind: After her initial defeat, Angewomon's desire to defeat LadyDevimon overrides her exhaustion and allows her to rise to fight again.
  • In the Back: LadyDevimon lands a dropkick on the small of Angewomon's back during their battle, sending her crashing into a nearby mountain, cracking the rocky cliff surface and creating a small crater with the impact.
    LadyDevimon: "Oops, sorry, Blondie."
  • I Shall Taunt You: LadyDevimon taunts the Digidestined throughout the battle, treating them like "adorable little boys" who are fighting for her attention. LadyDevimon's insults and mock flirtations fluster and enrage Angewomon to no end, goading the angel into charging recklessly into battle against her rival. LadyDevimon reacts to Angewomon's fury with even more mockery and laughter, elegantly sidestepping Angewomon's ferocious attacks and gracefully countering the her blows.
LadyDevimon: (laughing seductively) Welcome, adorable little boys!
LadyDevimon: (extinguishing the Digidestineds' attacks with an elegant flick of her wrist) "I'm sorry, are we just pretending? Let me know when you're ready."
LadyDevimon: (landing a dropkick on Angewomon) "Oops, sorry, blondie!"
LadyDevimon: (swinging Angewomon around by her hair) "Never did like that bleached look!"
LadyDevimon: (after defeating Angewomon) "This game is over! You're grounded, goldilocks!"
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Agumon tries to fight LadyDevimon in his Rookie form, this goes as well for him as you expect.
  • Multi-Directional Barrage: At the beginning of the battle, Angewomon, Angemon, Kabuterimon, and Birdramon all simultaneously swarm LadyDevimon, only for the fallen angel Digimon to knock all of them back simultaneously with her Darkness Wave, which unleashes a screeching horde of ravenous, demonic bats alight with unholy flames to engulf her foes.
LadyDevimon: (laughing) "You just made my job a lot easier."
  • No-Sell: LadyDevimon effortlessly swats aside Andromon, Birdramon, and Kabuterimon's attacks with an elegant flick of her wrist, as well as gracefully sidestepping attacks from Angewomon and Angemon.
LadyDevimon: "I'm sorry, are we just pretending? Let me know when you're ready."
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Angewomon develops this attitude towards Ladydevimon as their battle progresses, angrily snapping at AtlurKabuterimon and shouting at him to get out of the way and not interfere, even as he is literally in the process of saving her life multiple times.
  • Post-Victory Collapse: Angewomon devolves into Gatomon and falls into Kari's arms visibly exhausted
  • Round House Kick: LadyDevimon defeats Angewomon in their catfight with a brutal one, knocking Angewomon out of the sky and sending her plummeting to the ground. Angewomon hits the ground with such force that it sends up a billowing mushroom cloud of dust and creates an impact crater.
LadyDevimon: "Enough of this! This game is over! You're grounded, Goldilocks!"
  • Scissors Cuts Rock: LadyDevimon narrowly but consistently overpowers and defeats Angewomon in each of their one-on-one clashes, even though Angewomon is aided by her allies and enjoys a type advantage over LadyDevimon.
  • Xanatos Gambit: LadyDevimon's attack is one of these for Piedmon, every move the kids can take work in his favor. If AngeWomon fights LadyDevimon then she'll be too worn out to use her Holy Hand Grenade powers to stop him when he makes his move. If they instead use WarGreymon to fight LadyDevimon then he'll use up valuable energy and burn out faster in the next fight.
  • You Fight Like a Cow: Angewomon and LadyDevimon exchange insults throughout their fight. LadyDevimon's banter is sardonic, superior, witty, and mockingly flirtatious, while Angewomon just curses at LadyDevimon and calls her "witch" or "bitch." LadyDevimon just laughs and variously calls Angewomon "blondie" or "goldilocks."
LadyDevimon: (landing a dropkick on Angewomon) "Oops, sorry, blondie!"
Angewomon: (clenching her fist) ""Now you're in for it, you witch!"
LadyDevimon: (swinging Angewomon around by her hair) "Never did like that bleached look!"
Angewomon: (clenching her fist) ""It's on now, bitch!!"
LadyDevimon: (defeating Angewomon) "This game is over! You're grounded, goldilocks!"
  • Zerg Rush: LadyDevimon is greeted with simultaneous attacks from Angewomon, Andromon, Angemon, Kabuterimon, Birdramon, and Agumon.
