Numbuh One awakes to find himself in a universe where he is not only an adult - but the President of the United States! Slowly through the day he discovers that the others are also adults, and that today is the day he signs the Bill of No Rights for Kids - which would mean the end of the KND!

Tropes that are appear in this episode:

  • And You Were There: Parodied in the closing credits where Numbuh One attempts to describe his dream to the rest of the team, only to ask about their shocked looks and then realizes he's turned into Dorothy before waking up for real.
  • Artistic License – Military: If this were reality and not a simulation (and a cartoon for children), General Beetles would never have been able to join the real life United States Armed Forces, let alone become a General, if he cannot even understand basic numbers.
  • Artistic License – Politics: Can be justified by the fact that this was all just a test of loyalty.
    • Numbuh 1 could never be the President of the United States, as he was born in England.
    • The "Bill of No Rights for Kids" would be a massive Constitutional violation.
  • Bad Future: The premise is that Nigel wakes up in an alternate future dimension (actually a dream) where everyone he knew in the KND now works for the U.S. government and is devoted to stamping out the rights of kids. Numbuh 2 is his vice-president and the most devoted to the cause of making kids miserable, Numbuh 3 is his sarcastic no-nonsense assistant, Numbuh 4 is a violent warmonger and Numbuh 5 is still loyal to the KND, but was locked up in prison by Numbuh 1 and has now gone mostly insane from it.
  • Big "NO!": Numbuh 1 when waking up.
  • Brick Joke: During the press conference, General Beetles declares he'll bring the full might of the armed forces upon the KND: army, navy, air force and marine...animals. When his forces trap Numbuh One at the Washington Monument, orcas capable of apparently surviving on dry land (and firing missiles!) are among the crowd.
  • Continuity Nod: The mysterious overseers mention Chester's Happy Headband from "U.T.O.P.I.A.", implying that they used it to influence Numbuh 1's dreams.
  • Crapsack World: Any future that can be that close to signing away children's rights has to be, especially in this show. Especially since it would realistically kickstart a Second American Civil War, maybe even World War III if things get really bad (but that's never even brought up).
  • Creepy Child: Numbuh One's son 'Shirley', who resembles one of the Delightful Children. Turns out it's an act - he's really the present leader of Sector V Numbuh Sixteen-Hundred.
  • The Day the Music Lied: When the future!KND are debating what to do about the army surrounding them, future!Numbuh One tells them to be quiet revealing that he's shaved off his great hair to be bald again like his child self and the music swells as it seems he's about to take command...only the future!KND still think he led the army there and he is ordered to be detained.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul":
    • The vice-president insisting that they stop calling him Numbuh 2.
    • Numbuh 1,600 doesn't like his first name Shirley.
  • Embarrassing First Name: Numbuh Sixteen-Hundred isn't happy with the fact that his name is Shirley and claims that he changed his name to "Veego". Hearing this, Numbuh One tells him that he's better off with "Shirley".
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Future!Numbuh Two offers to send Nigel back to his world if he signs the bill that would destroy their world's Kids Next Door. Nigel refuses, even when threatened. Hoagie doesn't get why, since he'll never see the kids he's sacrificing again and it won't affect his own world.
  • Expendable Alternate Universe: Future Hoagie tries to convince Nigel to sign the Bill of No Rights For Kids with the justification that it won't affect him because he's going to be going back to his own dimension and will never have to worry about this one. Nigel refuses to damn the children of this dimension to suffering under the government, no matter if he's from another dimension or not.
  • Fat Bastard: Future!Numbuh 2 is more obese than his kid self and more enthusiastic about stamping out kid rights.
  • Foreshadowing: Numbuh 1 is being watched over by two mysterious overseers. One feels Nigel performed very well in this test, but the other one wants him further tested.
  • Generation Xerox: Two future KND members, Shirley and Leopold, are the children of Numbuh 1 and Numbuh 5 respectively. They resemble their parents quite a bit (Shirley looks like Nigel if he wasn't bald and wears a similar outfit, and Leopold wears a hat like Abby's and shares her color palette).
  • Hope Spot: Numbuh Five-Thousand offers to take future!Numbuh One to future!Numbuh Five, who was missing from the Whitehouse staff. Turns out that she has gone insane and is not happy to see Nigel again.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Future!Numbuh Four's appearance is a clear riff on Douglas MacArthur, complete with giant pipe.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Numbuh Sixteen-Hundred realizes Numbuh 1 is telling the truth about who he is and what has happened when he shaves off his hair to make himself bald. According to him, his real dad is so vain about his hair that he would never shave it off.
  • Properly Paranoid: After waking up, Numbuh 1 is certain that was no dream and insists it was some kind of test. The mysterious overseers quickly prove to the audience that he's right.
  • Running Gag:
    • "But he's got great hair!"
    • Numbuh 1's attempts to escape by excusing himself to go to the toilet. Lampshaded by Future!Numbuh Two by joking that they may start calling him "John".
  • Sadistic Choice: Numbuh 1 is given the choice of being able to return home so long as he signs the bill into law, which will ruin the lives of children in this world. He refuses no matter what the others threaten to do to him.
  • Secret Test of Character: The episode ends revealing that it was All Just a Dream orchestrated by mysterious overseers using a Lotus-Eater Machine.
  • Shout-Out:
    • There's an obligatory "Don't call me Shirley" joke, though in different circumstances.
    • The music that plays as Nigel avoids the Treehouse traps is a pastiche of the Indiana Jones theme.
  • Similar Squad: The future KND almost look like facsimiles of Sector V. Although two of them are actual children of the KND, there is no confirmation on the connection between the rest.
  • Smashing Hallway Traps of Doom: Upon future!Numbuh One's entry to the treehouse.
  • Something Only They Would Say: When he visits Future!Numbuh Five, Numbuh One has to answer a series of questions to prove it’s really him.
  • Stealth Pun: In the future, despite his Do Not Call Me "Paul" insistence, Hoagie is still Nigel's Number Two.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Future!Numbuh Four begins counting to ten to get future!Numbuh One to surrender. Fortunately, after all these years, Wally still can't count, and needs to ask his men what comes after two.
  • Uncanny Family Resemblance: Numbuh 1 lampshades how the adult Kuki is the spitting image of her mother.
  • The Unreveal: When Numbuh One is being interrogated by Future!Numbuh Five, one of the questions she asks is, "Who had a crush on Numbuh Three? And don’t say Numbuh Four." We never get to hear Nigel’s answer because they’re then interrupted by the White House staff.
  • Wanted a Son Instead: When Numbuh One learns that he has a son named Shirley, Future!Numbuh Three explains it's because his wife Future!Lizzie wanted a girl.
  • Wham Shot: As Numbuh 1 insists to the doctor that his supposed dream was all a test of some kind, two mysterious overseers are suddenly shown watching him, proving him exactly right.
