Recap / Code Prime - R2: Revolution, 25 "Toxic Nemesis"

Go To

The cause of Omega Team's critical state is revealed, not only with a showdown against Squadron X, but with the Nemesis Project's fruition — in the form of something darkly familiar...

  • And This Is for...: Bulkhead gives V.V./Nemesis Prime a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown while listing his victims in-between blows.
Bulkhead: This is for Rai! For Nonette! For Cera! For everyone you and your evil brother have hurt... for everything!
  • An Arm and a Leg:
    • Ironhide obliterates Blackout's right arm and left leg before decapitating him.
    • V.V. severs Wheeljack's right arm with his Energon Axe.
  • Big "NO!": Rai, right before his Taking the Bullet moment.
  • Character Death:
    • Overload dies after he triggers Wheeljack's grenade trap, earning a hole in his chassis that's further fragmented with Tox-En.
    • Blackout gets his head ripped off by Ironhide.
  • Establishing Character Moment: This chapter marks the full appearance of Nemesis Prime, Shockwave's 'Project Nemesis' with V.V. as his operator.
  • Everyone Can See It: Bulkhead comments on how everyone can tell Rai loves Shirley.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Nonette's Galeschin gets sliced in half mid-section by V.V./Nemesis' arm blade, though Nonette herself survives.
  • Immortality Hurts: Despite the protection of Nemesis' body, V.V. could feel the poisonous effects of the Tox-En shoved onto him, to the point it burns enough for the immortal to scream in pain. Which he truly deserved in this chapter.
  • Kick the Dog: To prove how much of a bastard V.V. is, he mockingly laughs at Rai's Taking the Bullet action. That action, however, subjected him to a well-deserved beatdown by an enraged Bulkhead.
  • Love Epiphany: The others' teasing helps Rai realize that his feelings for Shirley aren't just a crush.
  • Off with His Head!: Ironhide not only twists Blackout's head around, but then pulls it out completely.
  • Oh, Crap!: Most of Omega Team's reactions when learning that V.V. is the pilot of Nemesis Prime.
  • Restraining Bolt: The Dark Energon used in the mixture to bring Nemesis Prime online allows Megatron to control it enough that V.V. can't attack him or Shockwave.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Barricade gives V.V./Nemesis a pretty epic one after the latter allows his immaturity to get the better of him one too many times.
Barricade: I'm not here to babysit you! You don't wanna be treated like a kid, then act your age! Megatron told me that you and your brother were among the most cunning humans on this planet, which isn't saying much given how weak your race is. Prime is strong and smart, and he knows how to use both his strength and intelligence! You wanna stand a chance against him? Do the same! Stop being that little whiny brat V.V. and start being Nemesis Prime! Or throw another temper tantrum, and I'll have Soundwave use a spacebridge to zap you to the center of the sun!
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!:
    • One of Lugnut's rants about the glory of Megatron gets interrupted by Wheeljack slamming his feet into the Con's face, telling him he talks too much.
    • Repeatedly, V.V.'s attempts at gloating get cut off by others telling him what a Manchild he is.
  • Taking the Bullet: Rai does this to save Nonette from V.V.'s attack, leaving his arm to be mauled when the Knightmare's frame caves in from the blow.
  • Uncertain Doom: Hot Shot disappears during the diversionary fighting with Squadron X, and what happened to him isn't revealed before the chapter ends.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: It's noted by both sides that V.V.'s Nemesis Prime chassis gives him Optimus' strength, but none of his combat training.
