Recap / Code Prime - R2: Revolution, 26 "Make Them Hurt"

Go To

As Omega Team's injuries are tended to, the Grand Alliance plan to make V.V. hurt for his actions.

  • An Arm and a Leg: Rai's left arm is too injured to save and has to be amputated.
  • Batman Gambit: Lelouch calls Megatron from a captured Decepticon mine and reveals that Rai and Bulkhead survived their encounter, knowing that Megatron would send V.V. to them for another chance at taking them out and "redeeming" himself.
  • Big "WHAT?!": V.V.'s reaction when a furious Zero launches himself at him from Cera's Akatsuki.
  • Cruel Mercy: Megatron doesn't do anything himself to punish V.V. for his failure, simply saying his punishment will be the knowledge that all his enemies are still alive, including Bulkhead and Rai, who he failed to kill, as well as Optimus and Lelouch, the two people he hates most and defeated him in battle.
Megatron: Even knowledge alone can be more torturous than any physical punishment I can inflict.
  • Establishing Character Moment: This is Clara Lanfranc's full appearance; as the Cyborg pilot of the Dark Fafnir Knightmare.
  • Eye Scream: Lelouch gouges out Nemesis Prime's optics in order to blind V.V., as being sealed inside the mech's body means he's reliant on those optics to see.
  • Internal Reveal: Lelouch learns V.V. was the one who killed Marianne and crippled Nunnally from the immortal manchild himself.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: When Megatron shows up with reinforcements to prevent the Autobots and Black Knights from taking the incapacitated Nemesis Prime captive, Lelouch and Optimus know that they can't win and so reluctantly call for a retreat.
  • Mind Rape: Cera takes V.V. out of commission by forcing him to experience the deaths of his mother and Charles, and the harm he's inflicted on countless people.
  • Mirror Match: Optimus fights Nemesis Prime.
  • Never My Fault: During their fight V.V. blames Optimus for everything that's gone wrong for him and Charles throughout the story. Optimus refuses to listen, pointing out how V.V. ultimately has no one to blame but himself for his misfortune.
  • Not Helping Your Case: When Knock Out and Sky-Byte report Nemesis Prime's action to Megatron and state how he is too dangerous and unstable to be allowed to roam the ship freely, after Knock Out suggests that the psychopath be contained and restrained, Nemesis threatens that if Knock Out tries he'll grind him into scrap metal. This only further enforces their point to Megatron.
  • Pretender Diss: Nemesis Prime is subjected to several of these, compared to both the Decepticons and Optimus Prime.
    • Several Vehicons remark how the little punk isn't actually one of them and is just a "wannabe Prime" and a parasite. Unfortunately, this causes Nemesis to attack them in a rage due to his inflated ego.
    • After it is revealed that Nemesis failed to actually kill Rai and Bulkhead, Knock Out remarks "some Prime" and that at least Optimus can get the job done.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: In response to V.V.'s rant from above, Optimus inflicts an epic one onto the arrogant immortal-turned-Cybertronian.
Optimus: You see the people of this world as tools to use, pieces on a chess board to be directed and manipulated, but they are so much more than that. They are free to choose whatever path they want in life, be it good or ill, and nobody has the right to take that freedom from them. Not even you. You killed Lelouch's mother, crippled his sister, and hurt so many others… and you may have indeed set him down a path you wanted… but I helped him to show what other paths he could take. I didn't direct or tell him what he should do, I simply showed him what he was capable of. He chose this path of his own will, chose the path away from what you and your brother wanted. But you are here of your own choice. Not his or mine.
    Nemesis: Shut up!
Optimus: You chose to plot with Charles. And while I'm not completely certain of the circumstances, I can likely assume that you chose to go to Megatron, assuming your own immortality could trump whatever powers he had at the time. You chose to underestimate him and that led to where you are now. You are imprisoned and enslaved now, because of your own choices. Not mine and not Lelouch's, and you have no right to blame us for that.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Rai and Shirley admit their feelings for each other after he recovers from his injuries.
  • The Reveal: Hot Shot disappeared last chapter because he snuck aboard the Nemesis, where he's hiding while planning to steal the Decepticons' Iacon Relics.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Despite their best efforts, the Autobots are unable to take V.V. out of the war. Being forced to give him up again.
  • Villainous Friendship: Sky-Byte willingly volunteers to help clean Knock Out of the damage he received on his mission for no other reason than to help a fellow Decepticon, and tries to help him and a Vehicon during Nemesis Prime's brief rampage.
  • The Worf Effect: The Decepticons' new Dark Fafnir Knightmare is able to shrug off everything that the Black Knights throw at it, even Kallen and Suzaku's Combination Attack.
  • You Have Failed Me: Megatron is pissed when he realizes that Nemesis Prime failed to kill Rai and Bulkhead, and declares his only hope for redemption is to bring him Lelouch's head. He fails that as well.
