Looks like there's an impostor among us.note

The twelfth episode of Battle for BFDI and the 43rd episode of the overall series, in which Match is eliminated and the featured challenge is for each team to spot the impostor.

Tropes include:

  • Angrish: When Book mistakes Taco being on another team for her abandoning her own team, she angrily spouts gibberish.
  • Badass Fingersnap: Used by Four to begin the challenge.
  • Breather Episode: This episode counts as one, only having major consequences for a few teams.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Snowball has no clue why Fanny would be mad at him during Cake at Stake, even though he nearly completely decapitated her in the previous episode because she told him to just let Flower do the challenge to not invoke her wrath.
  • Cover Identity Anomaly: Most of the impostors get caught because of this. Taco (as Tree) kills someone, which is against Tree's team policy, Basketball speaks as Rocky, Lightning (as Pin) doesn't remember the incident "she" is supposed to have witnessed, and so on.
  • Dramatic Irony: Many of the fake contestants have acted noticeably more different even before they were found out. Puffball (as Basketball) continued to oscillate even though she wasn't flying, Spongy (as Lightning) flew around much more frequently, and Pin (as Taco) kept worrying whenever someone tried getting her to talk.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Eraser decides that the only way to know who's the fake is to do more things. He says this as Puffball floats behind him with Rocky's trademark smile.
  • "Freaky Friday" Flip: A contestant from each team has their minds placed into the body of another contestant, and the others must rule out the impostor in order to secure immunity for their team.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: Eraser goes crazy when he realizes that Foldy is a pentagon.
  • Hidden Depths: Spongy is revealed to enjoy skydiving, ping pong, table tennis, tightrope walking, flying balloons, flying airplanes, and...sailing airplanes?
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Lollipop. Unlike the rest of her team, Lollipop has realized the truth behind Taco’s supposed “betrayal” and sticks up for her.
  • Lame Pun Reaction:
X: (as Four) iance is safe, which means that Team Ice Cube will melt its way to the elimination zone!
Four: (as X) That is a really bad joke!
X: (as Four) But we switched bodies again, so it's... it's actually YOU who told the bad joke!
  • Large Ham: Taco does a noticeably bad job acting like Tree by overacting after suddenly figuring out she could just smash Bottle to get out. Lightning is especially like this when pretending to be worried about Needle.
  • Lost Food Grievance: Needless to say, Bomby is not happy about Black Hole destroying his banana, and lets him know exactly how he feels about it.
  • Made of Iron: It is revealed that Fanny survived her supposed decapitation from the previous episode, and isn't shown to have trouble functioning at all.
  • "Oh, Crap!" Smile: Basketball's reaction to getting caught as the fake Rocky.
    "Uh, I mean...bulleh?...."
  • Parting-Words Regret: After chewing out Match in the previous episode, Bubble resolves to forgive everyone else to prevent similar incidents from happening.
Bubble: What if... what if this happened because I didn't forgive her? I can't let that happen to anyone else.
  • Shown Their Work: The impostor on Team Ice Cube, the losing team, was on iance, the second-to-worst team, meaning you didn't know who the impostor was until the very end of the challenge.
  • Skewed Priorities: Bomby is more concerned about how Black Hole destroyed his banana when Flower knocked him off the staircase in the previous episode rather than how he prevented him from impacting the ground and exploding.
  • Spot the Impostor: The featured challenge for this episode.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Bratty Half-Pint Firey Jr. is at his worst here when, in an attempt to find the impostor, he badmouths his teammates throughout the entire challenge. As a character not really shown to do much before, this might as well be an Establishing Character Moment.
