Satsuki Amamiya and her best friend An Kiriyama were the members of the Photography Club in her school, with the former who looked up to her senpai and the club leader Sakihara. That is until Sakihara and the rest of the third-year members of the said club graduated, leaving Satsuki in a predicament and the club falling in shambles.

Through mere coincidence after Satsuki's camera didn't arrive on time, both her and An visited the address of the said person and encountered Haruno Akiyama, an aspiring manga artist who wants to write a manga that "makes you want to go there" with high school students acting as the protagonists. Then, the duo encounter the member of their school's another club, Sakurako Shikishima, the president of Cinema Club who also faced the same inevitable as the Photography Club. When both clubs are at the verge of closure, Sakurako made a decision to merge two clubs into one, birthing the Cinephoto Club.

Altogether with Haruno and the motoblogger Kako Komada, Satsuki and her group had a new goal in mind: to take pictures across real-life tourist spots in Japan to help Haruno out for her manga!

Mono is an Iyashikei manga that is written and illustrated by Afro, creator of Laid-Back Camp. It began serialization in Manga Time Kirara Miracle, the magazine's former sub-arm, in October 2017 before it was moved to Manga Time Kirara Carat. It also takes place within the same universe as Laid-Back Camp. In January 2024, it was reported that an anime adaptation is in development. and was officially announced the following March. The 37th anime from Manga Time Kirara, it will be directed by Ryouta Aikei with character designs from Takuya Miyahara and series composition by Youko Yonaiyama. It will be the first anime produced by the newly founded Soigne.

Not to be confused with the Japanese music band of the same name.

Mono provides examples of:

  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • Satsuki is called as "Sacchan" by An.
    • Haruno calls both Satsuki and An as "Sacchan" and "An-chan", respectively.
  • Broken Pedestal: Played for Laughs. In the first chapter, Satsuki looks up to the president of Photography Club Sakihara as her role model. But after Sakihara graduated, it led to Satsuki being the only member of the Photography Club along with An, causing the former to hide under the table of the now-empty club room in desperation.
  • The Cameo: A few from the author's previous work Laid-Back Camp since they take place within the same universe:
    • Chapter 7 has two. First is a glimpse of Chiaki Ogaki's head in one of the panels. Then, a glimpse of Rin Shima riding on her signature moped at the highway.
    • Chapter 8 has a cameo of Aoi Inuyama.
    • Chapter 13 has not only Nadeshiko Kagamihara appearing in this manga, but her family also appears alongside her after winning the Mega Meal Challenge.
  • Caught on Tape: When An's camera was inserted into Taishou's tail and it was roaming around the city for ten days, it recorded a video of a turf war. This left the rest of the group unsettled over what they discovered during Taishou's ten-day disappearance.
  • Chekhov's Skill: The photography skills that Satsuki learned from Makinohara later becomes important in the story, where she not only does it for her hobby, but to take pictures for Haruno's own manga.
  • Club Stub: Both the Photography and Cinema Clubs were on the verge of being disbanded, thanks to its lack of members after the rest of them graduated. While both clubs later brought back on the brink thanks to its subsequent merging as the Cinephoto Club, the whole club only has four members (including the absentee Tajima who seldom visits the said club).
  • I Should Write a Book About This: Her manga's premise that she creates is about a high school girl in a Photography Club, whom she uses the photos her own group takes as well as Satsuki as inspirations for her story.
  • Iyashikei: Like its predecessor, Mono is about the group's heartwarming adventures and their friendship, creating a pleasant experience.
  • Last-Name Basis: Despite An being a close friend to Satsuki, the latter calls her by her last name. Inversely, An calls her by her Affectionate Nickname "Sacchan".
  • Slice of Life: A very laid-back story about the daily lives of the Cinephoto Club and their own adventures.
  • The 'Verse: The manga is set in the same universe as Laid-Back Camp. See The Cameo for examples above.
