Mary Poppins is a multimedia franchise which started with a series of British children's novels written by P.L. Travers. After it was adapted to a Disney film in 1964, media related to that film soon followed, most of it also produced by Disney. Most related media was made after Travers' death, given her disdain for Disney's interpretation.
The works in the franchise follow its namesake Magical Nanny as she watches over multiple generations of the Banks family children, teaching them lessons while leading them through whimsical scenarios.
