Nayak: The Real Hero is a Hindi Live Action Film released in 2001 that follows the story of Shivajirao Gaekwad, a journalist for a news channel named Q TV who is an outspoken critic of Maharashtra Chief Minister Balraj Chauhan's policies. Frustrated with Gaekwad’s questions, Chauhan agrees to give Gaekwad the position of Chief Minister of Maharashtra for one day to prove to him how he can run the state better. Gaekwad accepts the challenge and cleanses the state of all corrupt ministers and arrests Chauhan in the last five minutes of his term. Chauhan gets frustrated and spends the second half of the film plotting the end of Gaekwad.

Nayak: The Real Hero contains examples of:

  • All-Loving Hero: After Gaekwad's term as Chief Minister is over, the people of Maharashtra hail him as a hero for cleansing the state of corrupt politicians.
  • Artistic License – Law: Multiple instances can be found here. Indian law mandates that a person may not be arrested under any pretext unless the court proves them guilty of the crime they are being accused of. Of course, our hero doesn't care about the law and casually arrests every single corrupt leader.
  • Artistic License – Physics: The characters in the movie are capable of gravity-defying stunts that even the absolute strongest humans cannot perform.
  • Covered in Mud: Apparently gives you superpowers as proven by Gaekwad demolishing Chauhan’s goons during the Kichad (Hindi for mud) Fight Scene.
  • Defensive Feint Trap: Gaekwad pretends to have been overpowered by Chauhan’s goons only for him to lure them into pursuing him and then beating the hell outta them.
  • Fanservice: Gaekwad is stripped completely naked during the later half of the Kichad fight scene and the only reason the film hasn’t been given an Adults Only Film Rating is because he is Covered in Mud.
  • Fight Scene: No Hindi movie is complete without one and this film is no exception. Gaekwad has to fight off against Chauhan’s goons but is overpowered by them and has to run away initially only for him to bite back in a Defensive Feint Trap.
  • Frame-Up: In the end, Shivajirao Gaekwad frames Balraj Chauhan for attempting to assassinate him, causing the latter to get absolutely demolished by the former's body guards.
  • Giving Them the Strip: Gaekwad removes all his clothes to avoid getting burned alive.
  • Glass Weapon: Used by Gaekwad while fending off against Chauhan’s goons.
  • Gonzo Journalism: The film begins with a couple shots of news channels focusing on distracting the public from Chief Minister Chauhan's immoral acts
  • Intrepid Reporter: Shivajirao Gaekwad, the protagonist, falls under this category as he always tries to expose Chief Minister Balraj Chauhan's lies.
  • Machete Mayhem: Near the end of the Kichad fight scene, Chauhan’s goons are shown to wield machetes to cut Gaekwad up into pieces.
  • Run or Die: Gaekwad must do this to not get cut to pieces by Chauhan’s goons.
  • Sinister Minister: Chief Minister Balraj Chauhan and his friends fall under this category according to his assistant himself.
  • Sleazy Politician: Chief Minister Balraj Chauhan is known to lie about everything throughout the film to gain votes including his family background. He has also been exposed to have stolen 500 crore (50 billion) rupees from the public.
  • Toilet Humour: When Shivajirao Gaekwad authorises the arrest order for every single corrupt minister in the state of Maharashtra, they all flee to the toilet in a Last Ditch Move to avoid getting arrested.
  • Vapor Trail: In the Kichad fight scene, the goons initially try to kill Gaekwad by setting him on fire with the help of petrol but he wakes up at the last minute and manages to run away because of Plot Armor.
