Call Me Kara is a The Flash (2014)/ Supergirl (2015) crossover fanfiction written by Speedforce 1229. It takes place after the events of Season 1 for Supergirl and after Season 2 of the Flash, though because the ending for the Flash had not come out at the time of the fanfic's writing, the author instead presumed what was going to happen: namely Zoom getting defeated.

Barry Allen is unable to keep his mind off of Kara Danvers aka Supergirl, the alien he had met when he had crossed over to another Earth, and when Cisco is trying to tell what is wrong he comes into contact with him, vibing that Kara is in mortal danger and in threat of dying. She has, in fact, been shot with kryptonite bullets by DEO agents under command of the President. Barry immediately breaches to her world and brings her back to his Earth to receive treatment.

Call Me Kara contains examples of:

  • Adorkable: Both Barry and Kara. It's the foundation for their relationship.
  • A Form You Are Comfortable With: Deconstructed when Jeremiah let's J'onn know that he's alright with J'onn taking on the appearance of Hank Henshaw, despite the fact that Jeremiah only knew the man as a villain, because he knows that J'onn finds it more comfortable.
  • Alliterative Name: Alexandra Allen, Kara and Barry's daughter.
  • Badass Normal: Almost too many to count. The Arrow, the Black Canary, Batman, Red Arrow, Alex Danvers (later Valkyrie), Nyssa Al'Ghul, Katana...
  • Boldly Coming: Kara and Barry get together, have hot, enthusiastic sex and have a daughter.
  • Brought Down to Normal: Kara, when she goes through a solar flare. She promptly uses this as an opportunity to go out and get drunk for the first time. Later, when she gets pregnant, she is subjected to random power outages that makes her lose her powers.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Barry managing to breach into Kara's apartment and get her back to his Earth just in time to save her life.

    • The Legends and Diggle later pull this when Kara, Barry, and Oliver fight Savage, Wilson, and Harkness.
  • Big Eater: Both Kara and Barry, by default, even having a food battle in the earlier chapters.
  • Boxing Lessons for Superman: Both Barry and Kara go through this to utilize their powers to the fullest extent. Kara receives hand-to-hand combat League of Assassins training from Nyssa Al'Ghul, while Nyssa pushes Barry to learn to use his vibrations offensively. Both of these skills come in handy when they take down their respective Big Bad.
  • Can't Have Sex, Ever: Invoked and then averted. Kara has Winn build her a red sun radiation bracelet so that she and Barry can have sexy time without her literally snapping him in half.
  • Celebrity Paradox: Played for Laughs when it's shown that Melissa Benoist exists in Supergirl's universe by mentioning that Alex was attracted to her, bringing up all the shows that Melissa Benoist has been in.
  • Advertisement:
  • Comically Serious: Oliver, naturally.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Oliver, Captain Cold, Barry (occasionally), Thea, Sara Lance...
  • Dream Team: The Justice League, in both universes. While there are bigger threats that need the whole League's attention, Weather Wizard immediately surrenders when he finds himself being confronted with Earth's mightiest heroes.
  • Expendable Alternate Universe: Averted. Even though Kara was effectively betrayed by her home dimension, she still cares about what happens to it, and when Darkseid shows up both she, Barry and the whole Justice League go to her Earth to fight.
  • God Couple: Supergirl and the Flash are, without question, the two most powerful beings in the realm of their own universe, with Kara able to fight Darkseid (though killing him is a different matter) and Barry killing Doomsday with an Infinite Mass Punch.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Discovering that he can't be killed without Hawkgirl, Kara throws Vandal Savage into space.
  • Healing Factor:
    • Both Kara and Barry have this power naturally, though it takes a backseat to their more spectacular powers. Nyssa points out how valuable of an ability this is and convinces Barry to train this ability to heal from injuries in seconds as opposed to hours, which Kara also learns to replicate (albiet on a lesser scale).
    • Unfortunately, Doomsday also has this ability, and its immortality is one of reasons Barry trains to master the Infinite Mass Punch, as nothing else would be able to kill it.
  • Heroic Build: As a result of their powers, Kara and Barry are always in tip-top shape. However when Kara gives birth to Lexie, she purposely keeps her powers deactivated so that she can enjoy her time just being a normal mother. Barry also learns to use his powers to look more muscular so that he can scare creepy guys away from Kara.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Oliver and Barry; Kara, Sara, and Caitlin.
  • Interspecies Romance: Even though Kara is able to receive blood transfusions from, look like, and actually manage to have a kid with one, she's still not human.
  • Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex: For both Kara and Barry. She risks breaking him in half with her strength, so she needs to be Brought Down to Normal, and Barry's powers make him...quick. Luckily his Healing Factor extends to his other biological functions. This is later inverted when Barry learns to use his powers to make himself more durable.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: Kara and Barry's first fight occurs when she walks in on him and Iris hugging after sharing lunch. Of course, she was already upset, given that that day was the anniversary of her planet exploding.
  • Motor Mouth: Kara's usually like this, but it gets turned Up to Eleven while drunk.
  • Power Fist: Barry's most powerful technique, enough to split planets and even kill Doomsday- the Infinite Mass Punch.
  • The Medic: This fic really focuses on how important Caitlin's role as Team Flash's resident doctor is, especially in the earlier chapters when she saves Kara's life with extensive surgery after she's shot with Kryptonite bullets
  • Never Gets Drunk: Barry, unfortunately, has to be sober every moment of every day. Averted for Kara when she gets her red sun bracelet so she can get drunk, along with other things.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Oliver gives one to Barry and Kara regarding how much they rely on their powers. It's well-intentioned, though.
  • Screw Destiny: Doctor Fate straight up tells Kara that she was destined to die on the floor of her apartment.
  • Super Strength: Kara has this power, and she's in fact the strongest hero around.
"You have to be kidding me," she whispered. The blonde had hit with enough force to shatter three feet of concrete.
