Lapin à la Cocotte is a series of the escapades of a 72 year old lad named Altaire who is determined to resurrect his dead mother. It's not so easy to be a young flesh eater in an unfamiliar yet wondrous world.
This work contains examples of:
- Actually Not a Vampire: The Cruzes are something other than human but Orpheus is adamant they are not vampires. But what are they? He's not telling.
- A God Am I: Leviathan and his dangerous god complex.
- Ambiguous Gender: Altaire is a classic case of "is that a boy or a girl?" Gender wise he's a boy. He just likes looking "cute".
- Bad Liar: Carnelian doesn't often lie but when he does...:Carnelian: Don't look at me like that! S-seriously, I'm not lying..
- Babysitter Friendship: Despite nothing she is doing was part of the job description for a nanny, Solange grows to really care for Altaire.

- Conspicuous Consumption: Despite Evmania's charity work and usual humility, she LOVES opulent spending and she is fortunate enough to be wealthy enough to afford anything. She is sometimes embarassed by the excessive spending.

- Expy: The whole Cruz line is based on Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow's Soma Cruz, reincarnation of Dracula.
- Goth Girls Know Magic
- Idle Rich: Everyone in Altaire's group of wierdos except Leviathan and Solange.
- Jerkass: How the pretentious Orpheus often comes off. This pretentiousness often gets him teased, making him more irate.
- Fertile Blood: Leviathan uses his own blood to resurrect the dead. It's not a quick process as it takes weeks to make one decent half-conscious wight. And this is after multiple lifetimes worth of progress.
- Kicking Ass in All Her Finery:
- Killer Rabbit: The Cruz trio; Evmania, Orpheus, and Altaire can turn into rabbits but prefer flesh to any sort of grass. Actually the inspiration behind the title. Lapin = Rabbit That's why Evmania calls both her son and grandson by the pet-name "Lapin".
- Kindhearted Simpleton: Gu Ming Ming Chaiya is not the smartest tool in the box but her intentions are always good.
- Lonely Doll Girl: Isadora is difficult to get along with so she does not have many friends. She often feels lonely and keeps dolls as company.
- Mistaken for Profound: Altaire, naive as he is, considers Karenin's ramblings as truths whether or not they have any basis in reality.
- Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: Not only does Dr. Karenin not have proper schooling for his occupation, he also is also a lich who is, and has for god knows how long been utterly obsessed with a dangerous mixture of arcane blood magic, the undead, and mental instability.
- No Indoor Voice: Carnelian tends to be VERY LOUD.
- Omnicidal Maniac: [Leviathan in his bad end. His very own way of proving his godhood to the world.]]
- Polite Villains, Rude Heroes
- Power Crystal: What Carnelian's family made their fortune selling.
- Rich Bitch: Isadora's unintentional persona to others.
- Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: Mini is from an eastern noble family but you wouldn't know that from the way she carries herself.
- Silk Hiding Steel: You would be hard pressed to find a lady kinder or more gentle than Evmania but her abnormal physical strength is nothing to scoff at considering she can rip your limbs right off!
- Spoiled Sweet: Carnelian is pretty kindhearted for the heir of a filthy rich business tycoon.
- Stupid Good: Sometimes Carnelian can make very questionable decisions but would never do so maliciously.
- Talkative Loon: How Mini is regarded by everyone else. Especially exasperating considering Altaire often takes what he says at face value.
- There Are No Therapists: Double Subverted. Evmania and her father have been trying to get Isadora help for ten years or so but she refuses to be helped.
- The Fool - Mini.
- They're Called "Personal Issues" for a Reason: Isadora has a lot of issues but refuses to tell anyone, including therapists, about them.
- Wide-Eyed Idealist: Altaire has incredible luck but when he occasionally finds himself in trouble, he remains as beacon of hope to everyone around him.
