John Allen Amos Jr. (born December 27, 1939 in Newark, New Jersey) is an American actor. Amos best known for his role as James Evans Sr. Good Times from 1974 to 1976. Amos has also made appearances in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The West Wing, and the film Coming to America.
