     Hikari

     Akashi

  • Dub Name Change: His name is either Alan or Aaron in the English dub.
  • Fiery Redhead: He is usually mellow, but when the antagonists upset him, he can get very angry.
  • Girlish Pigtails: His earlier design sported these. While his old design remains in the title card, these were scrapped in later stories.
  • Henpecked Husband: He is usually depicted as this whenever he's in a relationship at the start of stories featuring him.
  • Obsessed with Food: Loves to eat, and occasionally, his episodes would either have him as a chef or trying to get a special meal at a restaurant, only for something to go wrong.
  • Official Couple: He is often paired up with Hikari or Midoriko.
  • Theme Naming: His name is derived from the Japanese word aka which means red referring to his red hair.

     Midoriko

A green-haired woman who wears glasses.


  • Dub Name Change: Her name is Melanie in the English dub.
  • Otaku: She is often depicted as a geek who loves anime and video games in stories featuring her. Some stories comment on this by having the antagonists attack her geekish looks or interests.
  • The Glasses Gotta Go: A few episodes have the antagonist change their tune about Midoriko's looks once she takes off her glasses.
  • Opaque Nerd Glasses: She wears glasses with a spiral swirl.
  • Signature Laugh: She tends to laugh at the end of her sentences, particularly when she's plotting revenge.
  • Theme Naming: Her name is derived from the Japanese name Midori, which means green referring to her hair color.

     Tetsu

  • The Bartender: He frequently works at a bar, where the protagonists usually hang out.
  • Dub Name Change: His name is either Theo, Ted, or Thomas in the English dub.
  • The Gambling Addict: He often gambles, which is the cause of his money woes.
  • Henpecked Husband: Like Akashi, he is often depicted as this in stories where he is married, with the only difference being that his abusive wife divorces him at the start of the story and thus he takes revenge earlier than the other characters.

     Aoto

  • Bad Boss: He plays this role quite often.
  • Dub Name Change: His name is either Andrew, Aiden, or Alex in the English dub.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Often appears as a yazuka member when he isn’t an antagonist and often uses those connections to punish the villains.
  • Jerkass: He is very insufferable to an extreme degree.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He is this in episodes where he's good.
  • Loan Shark: He is usually depicted as a loan shark who gives insane interest rates to the antagonist(s) of the story who borrow money from him.
  • Spoiled Brat: Some episodes have him getting spoiled and being free from consequences thanks to the influence of his father.
  • Theme Naming: His name is derived from ao which means blue, referring to his hair color.
  • Yakuza: Some episode have him part of a gang or yakuza.

     Shino

A dark purple-haired woman.


  • Dub Name Change: Her name is either Sharon, Sophia or Sheila in the English dub.
  • Gold Digger: She is frequently cast in this role and often cheats on her current husband with a CEO if married.
  • The Mistress: She frequently cheats on her husband or boyfriend.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: Several episodes have her being a terrible sister-in-law to the protagonist. She can even sometimes plot schemes to get rid of them.
  • Theme Naming: Her name is derived from "shi", the alternative reading for "murasaki," which means purple, referring to her hair color.

     Rose

A red-haired girl. She usually works as a bartender.
  • Best Served Cold: She is quite vicious when it comes to getting revenge.
  • Fiery Redhead: She is usually a cool-headed person but she can get very angry if sufficiently provoked.

     Mizuki

  • Dub Name Change: Her name is either Michelle or Miranda in the English dub.
  • Meaningful Rename: In her first episode, she was named Teresa, before it was changed to her current name. An episode explained that she changed it since she didn't want a name that sounded like ghosts.

     Hiromi

A grey-haired man depicted as Hikari's father.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He may seem standoff-ish but he truly cares about his family.
  • Papa Wolf: He will trouble bust anyone who gives his family a hard time.
  • The Quiet One: He rarely speaks, and usually speaks in "Mmms" with the tone depending on his mood. Akashi is often terrified of him due to this.

  • Crusading Lawyer: He will often help the protagonists get justice against the antagonists through the law.
