The Grim Reaper

The Grim Reaper as he appears in The Sims 4.

Debut: The Sims: Livin' Large
Appears in: The Sims: Livin' Large, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, The Sims 4, The Sims Medieval
The personification of death, the Reaper first appeared in the Livin' Large expansion for the original game, and has consistently appeared across the series since then. When a Sim dies, Grim will make his appearance and reap their soul, leaving behind a gravestone or urn. His characterisation has changed throughout the series, sometimes making him cruel, other times as a more neutral or even friendly figure.
  • Chess with Death: In most games, a living Sim can challenge him to a contest for the chance of saving whoever he's currently reaping.
    • In the first game, he goes with Rock–Paper–Scissors, though only if he's in a good mood. Beating him means he lets the dying Sim live, while losing might lead to either him finishing the reaping, or he may raise the Sim as a zombie.
    • In the second game, he plays a "Which hand is it in?" game, the 'it' being the dying Sim's soul. Notably, this is not a 50/50 game as it may seem, as the pleaing Sim's chance is based on their relationship with the person they're trying to save.
    • The third game is the most literal, as he actually does play Chess in this iteration. His skill at chess is above average, but nowhere near unbeatable, so an experienced Chess player has a good chance of saving the recently departed.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle / Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: In The Sims 4, evil chickens (yes, chickens) from the Cottage Living expansion will straight up fight him to either save their owner or ward him off their property. They will always win the fight regardless...
  • Did You Just Romance Cthulhu?: Grim is the proverbial Cthulhu in this case, as Olive Specter of Strangetown has a memory of Woohooing with him, with the implication that this is what lead to the birth of Nervous Subject.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: He is a fair bit nicer in The Sims 2 than the other entries, particularly if someone with high aspiration dies of old age, where he'll arrive wearing a lei, alongside a pair of hula dancers, and offer the Sim a drink before calmly guiding them to the afterlife.
  • Everybody Hates Hades: In The Sims 4, if asked about his relationship status, he'll reply that "The forces of evil have no time for romance", painting him as a Card-Carrying Villain.
  • Sadistic Choice: The end of Vincent's story in Life Stories has the Reaper offer one of these. He is willing to resurrect Naomi, who was just crushed by a falling satellite, but only if Vincent gives up his earthly belongings. The player gets to decide which choice Vincent makes.

The Therapist

Debut: The Sims 2 (only appearance)
A strange NPC who only appears in The Sims 2 if a Sim's Aspiration Bar goes too low and suffers from Aspiration Failure. His main purpose is to calm the Sim a bit before disappearing. He can only be seen by the Sim in question implying that they are only hallucinating him, so other Sims in the area think they've gone crazy by doing the "You're Crazy!" gesture at them.

Mrs. Crumplebottom

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/crumplebottomnpc_7.png
Debut: The Sims 2: Nightlife (only appearance)
A relative of Agnes Crumplebottom taking up the mantle of the purse wielding old fashioned crone. She appears in the Nightlife Expansion Pack of the Sims 2 terrorizing unsuspecting couples on community lots should they publicly display affection.
  • Ambiguously Brown: She has tanned skin, which stands out since most other members of the Crumplebottom family are fair skinned.
  • Ambiguously Related: How exactly she is related to the other Crumplebottoms is not known.
  • Handbag of Hurt: Her reaction to public displays of affection.
  • Hate Sink: Clearly not meant to be very likeable. She purely exists to be a local nuisance and she doesn't have a tragic backstory like her predecessor.
  • Iconic Item: Her purse.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Wears practically the same outfit Agnes did in Hot Date, and just like her, responds to public displays of affection by beating on the couples with her purse.

The Mother Plant

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_mother_plant.png
Debut: The Sims 4: StrangerVille (only appearance)
A deadly alien plant and the main antagonist of The Sims 4: StrangerVille.

This alien plant resides in an underground laboratory and is the main cause of StrangerVille's "strangeness" because she creates bizarre fruit and other objects that cause infections and possess local Sims. It's unknown how she even got there in the first place, so it's up to the player's imagination.

The story of this pack involves investigating the "strangeness" and either defeating her to stop the infections, or befriending The Mother, which is easier said than done since your "relationship" with her starts in the high negatives.
