Humans

    Astrodude
The human main protagonist. Ever since he was a kid he dreamed of going to space. When he finally got to accomplish that dream, he learns that the planets can talk, and it freaks him out.—-
  • Got Volunteered: He's often forced to do missions that he otherwise wouldn't do, such as survive on the surface of Venus, terraform Mars, or find life on Titan.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: His name was never revealed. He was nicknamed "Dude" during the tests, and later "Astrodude" by the Solar System.
  • Token Human: He's explicitly stated to be human and while there are other people, he's the only major recurring human of a series centered around Genius Loci.
    Houston
Astrodude's boss who assigns him tasks to do in outer space.
  • Bad Boss: He cares very little about Astrodude's well-being and often puts him in danger on missions, some of which he is completely aware of.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": He is frequently called "Houston" but has said that's not his real name.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: At times he has shown to care for Astrodude after all, like he sent a robot named "SAR" to rescue him while he was suffocating on Mars' atmosphere without a suit (as part of a test).
    Astrodude's wife
Astrodude's wife who often checks in to make sure Astrodude is ok. She also provides helpful information to him through research.
    Astrodude's son
Astrodude's son who is fascinated with outer space. He is frequently seen playing with a rocket ship.

Stars

    Sun
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sun_24.png

"Do you know the best time to eat sushi?."

  • Ax-Crazy: He is over-the-top insane and has fires solar flares at stuff without much care.
  • Big Bad: He threatens to shoot solar flares at anyone who wishes to leave his orbit.
  • Can't Take Criticism: He NEVER accepts any form of it, and if his thoughts and opinions are not agreed on, he becomes Ax-Crazy.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He might be Ax-Crazy, but when the Earth heads towards him, he is very concerned and tries to talk him out of it.
  • It's All About Me: He can be very self centered, such as in "The HEAVIEST Planet Is..." where he keeps the trophy for being the heaviest celestial body in the Solar System, when the contest was which planet it was.

Inner Planets

    Mercury
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mercury_6.png
Yeah, yeah, right. Thanks, I mean, of course I'm bigger than Pluto! I mean why wouldn't I be? I'll always be bigger, oh I'm Mercury baby! I'm the best!t
The first planet from the Sun.
  • Butt-Monkey: Is constantly pushed around a lot by Venus or The Sun.
  • Shrinking Violet: He is incredibly cowardly, considering his abuse from others.
  • Talking Down the Suicidal: The episode “The Earth is heading to the SUN!?”, has him and The Moon try to talk Earth from committing suicide, which fortunately succeeds.

    Venus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_04.png
Well, keep talking, and you'll get a makeover!
The second planet from the Sun.
  • Embarrassing First Name: When he learns the origin of his name from Astrodude (the Roman goddess of love and beauty), he is nothing but horrified, and the planets immediately tease him.
  • Jerkass: He loves to torment the rest of the inner planets, namely Mercury.
  • Samus Is a Girl: He is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty as stated above and is male. In Astrodude's son's dream, he is even portrayed as a girl due to this.

    Earth
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/earth_69.png
Everyone will be happier this way.
The Third Planet from the Sun.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Before his Character Development, he liked to gloat about having a moon unlike Mercury or Venus, and doesn't like to count Phobos and Deimos on Mars, but he is much more nicer compared to hot-headed Venus.

    Mars
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mars_0.png
I don't care if we're no longer friends, I will protect the Earth and everyone on it!
The fourth planet from the Sun.
  • Only Sane Man: Compared to the rest of the inner planets, Mars is the only one without any weird quirks.

Outer Planets

    Jupiter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jupiter_2.png
"Oh, Is HE back?" Is he really back?".
The fifth planet from the Sun, and the largest in the Solar System.
  • Gentle Giant: Despite his large size, he is laid-back and supports the inner-planets by giving them advice.
  • Dark Secret: Jupiter and Saturn both did something very bad in the past, in which the two gas giants regret and often feel guilty about it.
  • The Smart Guy: He's the most intelligent of the planets. If someone who isn't Astrodude gives a space fact, then it's most likely him.

    Saturn
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/saturn_48.png
Whoever you are, if you harm us first... we will.. harm you second!.
The sixth planet from the Sun.
  • Has a Type: It is implied in "Who's THAT planet!?" that he is attracted to Eris.
  • Manchild: Compared to Jupiter, Saturn is much more emotional and Prone to Tears.

    Uranus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/uranus_34.png
I don't care! I thought we were mates, mate!
The seventh planet from the Sun.

    Neptune
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/neptune_08.png
Listen, there are a hundred things about me that make me special, and the least of them is that I am a planet.
The eighth planet from the Sun.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: He's wacky to say the least.
  • Go Mad from the Isolation: As seen in "Why is Neptune Missing” his odd traits such as his short-term memory was revealed to be caused by the insanity from loneliness for 165 years because of his orbit.
  • Nice Guy: He might be a bit wacky, but he is one of the nicer planets who hasn't had any jerkish moments. He also remembers the names of all his moons and doesn't mind that they are rebelling against the planets.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: The entire Moon Revolution arc happened because he wanted to know how Saturn got his rings.

Beyond Neptune

    Planet X
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/planet_x.png

Earthly moons

    Moon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moon_90.png
I guess he's unique, but we all are in our own way!
  • Talking Down the Suicidal: The episode “The Earth is heading to the SUN!?”, has him and Mercury try to talk Earth from committing suicide, which fortunately succeeds.

    Dark Side of the Moon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_dark_side_of_the_moon.png
Thought you'd never ask.
  • Split-Personality Team: When the Moon fails to convince Titan to release Astrodude from Titan's subsurface ocean, he lets him threaten Titan into doing so.

Martian moons

    Phobos
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/phobos_3.png
YEES! BIGGEEEERRR! Hehehe.
  • The Cutie: Along with Deimos he is small and easily excitable.

    Deimos
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/deimos_9.png
Maybe you can crash into Mars, and we can use the space debris to grow BIGGER!
  • The Cutie: Along with Phobos he is small and easily excitable.

Jovian moons

    Amalthea
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amalthea.png

    Thebe
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/thebe.png
What? You don't know my name either?

    Io
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/io_5.png
Now let's go, woohoo!
  • Friend to All Children: Neptune's small moons like hanging around him.
  • Gasshole: Justified, as being the most geologically active body in the Solar System, and having volcanoes that release sulfur dioxide; he spits the stuff out when he gets into a coughing fit.

    Europa
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/europa_7.png
Call another moon "babe" again, and I'LL PUSH YOU OUT OF YOUR ORBIT INTO THE VOID OF SPACE.
  • Manipulative Bitch: Europa was able to convince the other moons of the solar system to join the moon revolution, by referencing to how the planets underestimate them.

    Ganymede
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ganymede.png
Everyone knows the Earth's a pretentious jerk!
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite his hatred towards how the planets treat the moons, when he sees that Jupiter isn't in the right state of mind when Europa chews him out, he calls her off.
  • Jerkass: He misnames Phobos and Deimos, calls Dione by a pet-name in front of his own girlfriend - much to both her and Dione's dismay, and is overall just rude to his fellow moons.
  • Rejected Apology: Even after the Earth apologized for his actions to Titan and to the other moons, both Ganymede and Europa still ordered the Moon to open fire.

    Callisto
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/callisto.png
I don't have dreams, only nightmares.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She wasn't really evil in the first place, but she turns against Ganymede and Europa and protects the Earth along with Io.

    Elara
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elara.png

Saturnian moons

    Mimas
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mimas.png
Yeah, our planet killed several moons to make rings! Like who does that?
  • Eye Scream: Herschel takes the place of his other eye.

    Enceladus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/enceladus.png
I DON'T RESPOND TO THE NAME ENSALADA!
  • Berserk Button: Don't call him "Ensalada," even though he admits that his name sort of sounds like it.

    Dione
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dione_1.png
Great logic there pal, 'cause that's the same thinking planets use to undermine us, you IDIOT!

    Rhea
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rhea_8.png
And you two are smaller than me so…

    Titan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/titan_99.png
Why does everyone think I'm a pla- NO! I'm a moon! Named Titan!
  • First Contact: Invoked. Wanting to prove that Earth isn't so special for having life, he forces Astrodude to search for life in his subsurface ocean.

    Hyperion
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hyperion_9.png

    Iapetus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/iapetus_2.png
You do know Jupiter alone can absolutely obliterate every single moon in the solar system if he wants to, right?
  • Two-Faced: The colors of his hemispheres (and his eyes) give off this appearance.

Uranian moons

    Miranda
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miranda_3.png
She must be scouting the edge of the Kuiper Belt just in case Uranus comes looking for us

    Ariel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ariel_06.png
Go away! Go away!!

    Umbriel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/umbriel.png

    Titania
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/titania_5.png
We are not revolutionaries, we are survivors.

    Oberon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oberon_5.png
I just don't want to turn into space dust because of an evil planet!

I don't even know what's happening...

    Triton
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/triton_1.png
YEEEESS! HAHA! You did it Triton. Got rid of the annoying kids and escaped that chaos unscathed. Heh. Suckers.

  • The Big Guy: Triton is the largest moon out of all the Neptunian moons, which he is seen as the big brother to his fellow moons.
  • Lone Wolf: Claims he's this.

    Nereid
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nereid.png
Do you have new stories for us? What did you do out there?

Yeah! We’ve been going on forever!.

Dwarf Planets

    Ceres
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ceres_4.png
  • AxCrazy: He is mentally unbalanced as he behaves a lot more chaotically and psychotic compared to other planets, even more than the Sun.

    Pluto
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pluto_36.png
Is it weird... that I don't care?

    Haumea
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/haumea.png
I... Don't wanna talk about it.

    Makemake
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/makemake.png
Are you twin planets? ..Or twin dwarf planets? You seem to be tidally locked.

    Eris
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eris_8.png
Besides, who decided that planets are the cool kids? We can be cool too, you know!

  • Deadpan Snarker: She is implied to be this. When Saturn and Uranus meet her and ask her for help, she annoyingly denies. Despite this, Saturn seems to dig her.

Plutonian moons

    Charon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/charon_67.png
I don't care if you're my planet or if I'm your moon; for me, you'll always be my dance partner.
