Main Characters/Residents of Share House Kitayama

    Kyouya Hashiba
Voiced by: Masahiro Itou (Japanese), Jerry Jewell (English)

The main protagonist, a downtrodden man who unexpectedly traveled through time from 2016 to 2006 and decides to remake his life and attend the arts college he wanted this time to fulfill his dream.

  • The Ace: Even in the original timeline he was an exceptional employee, doing the work of several people and singlehandedly improving his department's process despite being someone his boss found on the street, though it ultimately wasn't enough to save the project from getting cancelled. In the new timeline he quickly gains a reputation for being able to bring his team through any situation through his leadership, though it backfires since his teammates realize that they Can't Catch Up and burn out.
  • Chick Magnet: Shinoaki, Nanako, and Eiko all had feelings for him at some point.
  • Honor Before Reason: Despite ending up married to Aki and having a daughter with her, he decides to sacrifice this happiness, because he can't stand it when his friends are less happy than him.
  • Improvisational Ingenuity: Gets a reputation of being able to salvage projects from potential disaster his second time through. For example, when they accidentally borrow a standard camera instead of a video camera while working on a short film, Kyouya gets the idea of piecing together a narrative through still shots.
  • The Leader: Because of his extra 10 years of experience, he becomes this.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Kyouya going back in time leads to him getting involved with the Platinum Generation and affecting their lives, though it does have negative consequences:
    • Tsurayuki quits college because he feels he Can't Catch Up to Kyouya, and thus never becomes the esteemed light novel author Kyouichi Kawagoe.
    • Shinoaki gives up her art after marrying Kyouya
    • Nanako's music career never takes off.

A resident of Share House Kitayama with a talent for scenario writing. In 2016, he's a popular light novel author under the penname "Kyouichi Kawagoe."

  • Can't Catch Up: Tsurayuki thinks this way about trying to surpass Kyouya, who seems capable of handling anything thrown his way. Despite being the same age, Kyouya seems so much more capable and experienced than him. While this is because of his extra ten years of life experience before going back in time, Tsurayuki has no way of knowing that. This culminates in him dropping out of school.
  • Temporal Paradox: Tsurayuki had the Pen Name "Kyouichi Kawagoe", after his home town and "Kyouya is #1". This causes Kyouya to freak out, but also raises questions about his trip to the past.

  • Unrequited Love: In 2018, she has feelings for Kyouya who's married to Aki.
