Main Characters
The main protagonist of the story. When he was young, he had been taken in and raised by Dixon, the leader of the mercenary group Alten Schwart. Growing up surrounded by a strong troupe, he possesses merit as a mercenary even though young. His personality is decided by the player.
- Can't Drop the Hero: Like all Growlanser protagonists, he's mandatory for every battle.
- Hello, [Insert Name Here]: Crevanille is the default name.
- Heroic Mime: He never says a word during the game.
A boy collapsed in the forest and rescued by Crevaniel and Regina. Since then he has come to live with them as a member of Alten Schwart. He is gentle and always positive. It became Crevaniel's duty to look after him.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: His gentle nature, coupled with his choice in fashion, leads to this mistake.
A daughter of the Mayfield noble family. She was raised sheltered as a lady, so she has ignorance of the ways of the world, and her pride is high. Once she decides something, she dislikes turning from it.
- Minidress of Power: Changes into this when she becomes a party member, along with an Important Haircut.
A master fencer with reputation in the continent. Invited by military authorities of nations, he instructs fencing. He is a man who is strict toward himself and others.
- Cool Old Guy: A master swordsman, and the oldest of the protagonists.
A mysterious girl from a parallel universe. She has ears and tail like a cat but seems to dislike being regarded in the same light as one.
- Cat Girl: Her race, which is called Pesac.
Pupil of the master fencer Hien. He faces forward to the future so much that sometimes he is not able to see immediate surroundings, and it seems that he is unable to read situations. Ever since his life was saved by Pamela, he serves as her guard.
- I Owe You My Life: To Pamela, who saved him in the past.
Other Characters
Dulkheim army officer, generally in charge of Reinfaltz base. From his military achievements in the Eizenvant battle, he is adored by the citizens as a hero.
- Devil in Plain Sight: Although hailed as a hero by commoners, his constant stern expression, coupled with always being seen in his army uniform, indicate that he's a force to be reckoned with.
- One-Winged Angel: During the final battle with him in the normal route (both versions) of Wayfarer of Time. He actually merges into his summon.
Leading person of the magic research in Dulkheim. It is said that if it were without him, the utilization of magic stones would have been ten years later. When he immerses himself in research, he forgets food and rest.
- Hero Antagonist: In both the original and the modified route.
A strange man living in dark side of Dulkheim, performing dirty work for Deringer. In the Dulkheim military, there is an unofficial secret information department where such things as prisoner interrogations and assassinations are carried out.
- Eyes Always Shut: His eyes remain closed in all of his portraits.
- Mad Doctor: The Protagonist and Frayne suffer months of debilitating "experiments" under his care. And he even enjoys doing it!
- Smug Snake: He enjoys putting his unwilling test subjects through his torturous "experiments".
Valkanier Royal Guard member, a rank respected as mighty warriors. Her merit and military achievement are strong even though she is a woman. It is said that she inherited her fencing skill from her mother.
- Lady of War: She's respected for both her tactical and fighting prowess on the battlefield.
The princess of Marquelay, who wants peace and to unify the four nations in the continent.
- Leotard of Power: The main component of her regular outfit is a pink and white leotard with gold trim.
- Luke, I Am Your Father: She is Remus's twin sister and reveals as such to him late in the story.
An angel, an enemy of humankind. For an unknown reason he appears and causes mass destruction with great power to humans.
- Light Is Not Good: He's an angel that's attempting to eradicate humanity.
Not belonging to any country, Vester is a mysterious man who moves only for a peculiar objective.
- Devil in Plain Sight: His intimidating appearance is quite indicative of his behavior.
- Evil Wears Black: Vester, in a world of mostly Color-Coded Armies, tromps around in nearly-all-black looking for all the world like Sephiroth, but then he barely even tries to hide his sinister intentions even to his allies.
- Manipulative Bastard: He manipulates several countries to go into wars so he can distribute summoning spells among them. In an individual scale, he also turns Meline and Cynthia, the survivors of the village he destroyed, into his loyal servants by promising them that their dead parents will come back if they help him bring about the apocalypse.
- One-Winged Angel: In the final battle of both versions of the standard route in Wayfarer of Time. After killing his human form, and using the Sealing Medallion on him, he turns into a much more demonic form. The modified version of the route for the PSP version adds another form on top of that.
A girl that is trapped in the "void".
- Last Episode, New Character: She only appears at the very end, meeting Crevaniel when he falls into the void world.
