The main female protagonist. One night, where she had gone to her high school to get her sleeping pills she had forgotten there, she finds her crush Yoohyun in her classroom, near a window looking shocked. Gaeul looks down and sees the lifeless body of Yoohyeon’s secret girlfriend, Eun-seol. The next day, she promises to keep his secret, as long as he obeys her.
- Abusive Parents: Her father beats her regularly.
- Affectionate Nickname: Taeseok nicknamed her "four eyes". Gaeul obviously finds this nickname offensive but it is obvious that Taeseok calls her that way more out of endearment than out of malice.
- Beautiful All Along: At the end of the chapter 44 she is revealed to be quite the beauty without her glasses and with some makeup on.
- Character Development: At the beginning she is selfish, superficial and self-absorbed but as time goes by she starts to feel remorse for her actions and is much less naive thanks to Hyomin.
- Chick Magnet : Dude magnet in this case. Hyomin, Taeseok and Yoohyeon all ended up falling for her.
- Color Motif: Often depicted with a red background.
- Desperately Craves Affection: Despite the fact that her relationship with Yoohyeon is based on blackmail she desperately wants him to love her which makes her weak to his manipulations.
- Fake Relationship: Gaeul is known among her classmates for having a "fling" with Yoohyeon. Later on Hyomin and her pretend to be a couple to protect her from Yoohyeon.
- Inferiority Superiority Complex: At first Gaeul behaves very arrogantly towards Yoohyeon whom she believes to have under her control and scorns one of her friends for her lack of intelligence but she herself lacks self-confidence and hates herself.
- Insecure Love Interest: Gaeul feels this way for Yoohyeon and later on for Hyomin
- Really Gets Around: It is rumored that she asks boys out and that in return she sleeps with them because of her sudden involvement with Yoohyeon and Hyomin but in reality she didn't really date either of them.
- Love Hungry: She has a crush on Yoohyeon, and when she saw him at a crime scene, instead of reporting him to the police, she blackmailed him so that he will be romantically involved with her.
- Lust Object: Gaeul is this to Taeseok when she is wearing make-up. Every time he meets "makeup" Gaeul he tries to hit on her.
- Secret-Keeper: She is this to Han Yoohyeon, at first by of her own free will and then by force because Yoohyeon blackmails her by threatening to destroy her family.
- Trauma Conga Line: Gaeul is physically abused by her father at home, and has been implied to have been bullied at school until high school.

- The Ace: Yoohyeon is not only good-looking he is also a model student and a very popular youtuber. No wonder that for Gaeul he is at the top of the highschool's hierarchy.
- Belated Love Epiphany: Realizes he has feelings for Gaeul after she starts dating Hyomin.
- Chick Magnet: Unsurprisingly a lot of girls are attracted to him.
- Color Motif: Often depicted with a blue background.
- Crazy Jealous Guy: Zigzagged. It is highly debatable whether or not he has any kind of positive feelings towards Gaeul due to her blackmail however the "relationship" between Hyomin and Gaeul upsets him a lot. Averted once he genuinely falls in love with her, he just accepts her rejection and doesn't insist any further
- The Dog Bites Back : After months of abuse at the hands of Jang Hana, he eventually kills her.
- Evil Former Friend: He is this to Hyomin, as they were best friends in middle school until "something" happened and broke their friendship.
- Graceful Loser: When Gaeul rejects him because she's with Hyomin, he takes it remarkably well.
- What Does She See in Him?: Most people who hear that he and Gaeul are flirting don't understand why Yoohyeon would be with someone like her.

- Anguished Declaration of Love: He gave one to Gaeul after becoming jealous.
- Crazy Jealous Guy: He becomes unusually aggressive when Taeseok tries to hit on Gaeul.
- Men Can't Keep House: His place is a mess and he doesn't really seem to want to clean it up.

- Nice Guy: Hyomin is sincerely a good person and cares about the people around him even if he may seem rude at first.
- Love Revelation Epiphany: Hyomin realizes that he has feelings for Gaeul after she confessed her love to him.

- All Girls Want Bad Boys : He is clearly a textbook example of the «bad boy»cliché and a lot of girls are attracted to him. He is also one of the protagonist’s love interest
- Attractiveness Discrimination: He seems to sees "makeup Gaeul" only as a possible future sexual conquest and doesn't seem to really care about her or respect her, while with "glasses Gaeul" he is nice and seems to genuinely appreciate her. Note that he has no idea that "makeup Gaeul" and "glasses Gaeul" are the same person.
- Becoming the Mask : He started to fake interest in Gaeul to understand why Hyomin likes her and ended up falling for her too
- Beware the Silly Ones: He may look innocent when he is alone with Gaeul, but he is still a delinquent.
- Brainless Beauty: He is handsome, but he is clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed, as he totally fail to see that the pretty girl he is attracted to and the girl with glasses he befriended are the same person.He is also not good at all at school.
- Cool Bike: Taeseok drives one.
- Kissing Under the Influence: In episode 66, Taeseok kisses Gaeul who is completely drunk to the point of being out of it.
- Ladykiller in Love: He has a lot of hookups with women he doesn’t seem to really care about but it is implied that he has genuine feelings for Gaeul
- Odd Friendship: With Hyomin his childhood friend as they have little in common. Also with Gaeul.
- Smoking Is Cool: He is usually seen smoking a cigarette, which goes with his delinquent image.
- The Casanova: Taeseok flirts with many girls.
