TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

Go To

Prematurely launched pages and pages that weren't fully fleshed out at the point of launching, are a big problem. Since these usually share several problems at once, this thread is aimed at re-running them through the TLP for fixing - the usual fix - or cutting them if they are too bad.

Problems this thread deals with include bad names, not enough/bad examples, unclear description, etc.

For the interested, here's a list of recently created pages. Launches

Note: Please do not request a mod to unlaunch drafts that don't have any issues besides lacking a launch notice/24hr launch notice. While 24hr launch notices are mandatory, there are a few exceptions to the rule. If you see a draft's sponsor launch a TLP without an announcement, it's best to remind them of our TLP Guidelines first. If they continue to repeatedly launch drafts without a launch notice, you can report them on Ask The Tropers or the TLP Community Issues thread.

Re:Cat Pee Marathon: OK, let's see here:

  • Name was obviously chosen to be witty over informative
  • The description is only two sentences long
  • It links to two nonexistent tropes
  • No examples
  • Linking to an Article Within the Article
  • No wicks aside from the aforementioned self-link

Murdering A Blackmailer Doesnt Count has no examples, no indexing, no inbounds, and poor link formatting, not to mention its questionable status as a trope at all. I...honestly don't even know what to make of this.

I'll just cut Cat Pee Marathon. No redeeming qualities, so to speak.

Regarding, Murdering A Blackmailer Doesnt Count I'll vote for a cut too.

Murdering a Blackmailer etc. -I can't for the life of me remember the name, but I swear there is a trope about killing the bad guy not counting because bad guy, and it doesn't even have to be a Disney Death. So it not only stinks, the title reeks of the same but more specific.

Cut it.

How about Costume Gorn? Added on the 22nd Feb 2013, it's just a stub with no examples and no wicks. Add to cutlist?

Are you thinking of Pay Evil unto Evil?

Anyway, definitely agree with cutting Murdering A Blackmailer Doesnt Count. That page is no better than Cat Pee Marathon was.

Costume Gorn can be cut as well, I think. I've cut that "Blackmailer..." trope.

I just stumbled upon the page Unusually Interesting Sight, which is a stub created without any examples, without YKTTW, and without much in the way of a description. I recommend killing it with fire.

Sorry I'm late, but there are Portal shipping tropes that don't fit in YMMV. e.g. Sleeping with the Boss is one of those tropes that is canon unless stated.

^^These can go on the main trope list. They don't need their own subpage either.

Love Thy Neighbor: Plausible trope idea if it's not already covered, needs a lot of work and likely a new name. YKTTW that sucker.

I think it needs a new name because the adage "Love thy neighbor" has far too entrenched a cultural meaning to work as the name of any trope that's not involved with that meaning -and LTN is a Romance trope, which is a few steps away from the cultural meaning.

I don't think it's covered elsewhere, but I do agree with you that it's a valid concept, Candi, though I'm blanking on any examples off the top of my head.

Recurring Mook Considering that I can think of four 1980s' shows off the top of my head with recurring bad guy flunkies, and could probably think of more from over a greater area of time if I bothered, I'd say it's very likely a trope already exists covering the concept.

Plus that writeup is terrible. Cut it.

Today's worklist is Fruity Robo, a stub work page; creator was messaged.

Also, ~Isaacs Laughing, I've cutlisted Hataraku Maou-sama because a) it's in the wrong namespace, b) we don't put hyphens in the URL and c) all trope examples refer to the existing work page The Devil Is A Part Timer.

Also, The Dangerous Brothers is a work page created in Main/.
