The ultimate dilemma for any Sarah Nexus, given she's utterly devoted to her friends/family/rulers/etc- In the end though, she'll probably reject the chance if she doesn't believe accepting would get her Precious Person what they want one way or another.

Cornelius Hawking, on the other hand, can easily become a Well-Intentioned Extremist- Though it ultimately depends on how deeply he values the other person, but even if he does accept he'll attempt to get them their ultimate goal regardless.

Trisha Mallard would almost immediately accept since she doesn't want to lose her father- But will stop short upon realizing she doesn't know how it works. Doing so will also make her acknowledge her father wants to be happy, so in the end she'll reluctantly reject the chance.

Psych, believing she doesn't have anyone would accept without any delay- But upon realizing there really is someone she cares about freaks out, desperately wanting to return their Possibility- Yet she'll be unwilling to have it revoked, given she wasn't A Real Girl / Born prior.

Living in a world with rampant enslavement of the artificial and/or non-human life that few bat an eye, your character eventually discovers they're actually a Half-Human Hybrid and has even encountered some of their non-natural/human family.

While the Gifted are Half-Human Hybrids, they aren't enslaved or looked down upon, although they hardly ever see their parents.

Calia's reaction to discovering that she's a Gifted (half Terran, half Arcane) would be that of initial shock and wonder, as she would love to learn more about her parents. After finally meeting her mother in her story, however... she realizes that her parent was mainly using her, and in fact gave birth to her as part of a takeover plan.

Amber's reaction to discovering that she's a Gifted (half Terran, half Arcane) would be of pleasure, pride and excitement, as it affirms her cool powers. After finally meeting her mother in her story, she'd try to reconcile despite her mother being part of the Arcane's takeover plan of Terra 102.

Your character needs to find a way to talk with the highest authority in their country/world. How do they go about doing it?

Jo marches up to the front door (or as close as she can get to it without being shot) and yells out that she needs to talk. This goes as well as you'd expect it to.

Bram studies the law books very closely indeed, and manages to set up an appointment for the very next day. Some of the paperwork involved is so obscure most people have forgotten it even exists.

Jacob knows a guy who knows a guy who can ask a guy to talk to a guy who...you get the idea.

Lilly Speaking to kids about fire hazards would be right up her alley, as Lilly has long aspired to be a role model figure. She would prepare for the speech well, and she'd cover all the important topics from the safety measures one should take in the presence of common fire hazards to what one should do if a fire occurs. She'd always stay on-point and not go out of her way to provide entertainment/jokes for the kids, but the majority of the children would still be engaged by her enthusiasm.

Bloom Even though Bloom's late elementary age herself, she'd still be able to make the schoolchildren fear fire hazards... although she'd most likely spend so much time drilling in how dangerous fire is through horrifying fire-related stories that she'd forget to mention how to protect oneself from the fire hazards. The children who are faint of heart would be irrationally paranoid around anything flammable for weeks, and even the tougher kids would find themselves noticeably more cautious around fire hazards.

Clyde "Uh... hi. I'm here to talk to you about fire, I guess. It can be fun sometimes, but- [sees the teacher glaring at him] ...Oh, guess I'm not supposed to say that... let's start over. Fire's bad always because it burns people and stuff. Seriously, getting burned is really bad, I know. If you don't want to get burned, you probably shouldn't touch fire or... uh... eat matches, or whatever it is the dumb kids are doing. So, uh... yeah. Don't do it." [Leaves classroom]

And so the people's tax dollars are once again put to good use.

Your character catches sight of their boyfriend/girlfriend/significant other with their back turned (if your character doesn't have one of those, their closest friend will do). Your character starts talking to him/her about a personal topic meant to be just between the two of them... until the person your character is speaking to turns around and reveals that he/she was not your character's significant other, but rather a complete stranger who looks like him/her.

Pemnurg immediately begins using his records, "1002 Ways to Use These Records," as throwing stars to hunt the local wildlife. His luxury, a lighter, is used to set Shakespeare's works ablaze, warning passing ships that "Hey! I'm trapped on this island!" The Bible he keeps — although he has no idea what it is, there's something about it that tells him "This is kind of a big deal."

Stamatios wakes up on the island. Beside him lies a source of electricity, the record player, the Bible, and eight records...entitled "How to Escape Deserted Islands for Dummies." He looks up at the sky, and yells "PEMNUUUUUURRRG!!!!"

Mr and Miss Fairwell have been to an Eldritch Location before, and in fact "live" within one. As such, they might not be too freaked out. However, if they were to enter this certain one... they would not see anything.

Thanks to being entities of nonexistence, who have been completely erased from the space-time-altreality continuum, they neither have a "past" nor "future" on the timeline.

Lethe names his puppy something from folklore or history and appreciates it as one of his few companions in the fortress where he's being held. The thing winds up being adorable- medium-sized, shaggy, with big eyes that are perfect for begging- but also has at least one vaguely disturbing feature, in keeping with its master's status as the vessel for an Eldritch Abomination

There's a sort of Domesday book that's updated every era, but for the current era:

  • Bet Thomma—in between meetings, randomly shaking down passersby in the agora—"What is that you're eating? Why? Did your father teach you to sew that? Where are you going? Do you think about your affirmation every day? Yes, its important. All history leads to you and I, so..." Talks to experts, joins forums, and spends a lot of time just looking at anything beautiful and trashy and remembering what thoughts each provokes in her before inevitably concluding that the current era reflects herself in x way because y.
  • Samreth —in the same situation—"Give me your tablet, and the keys to your house too. Don't fret, you're going to be famous." Proceeds to lazily glance over the home for about three minutes and list off things she feels aren't too long to type and arbitrarily names the home style as Transition Architecture and the collection of websites on the Tablet as Low-brow circa S.B.T.E. before scribbling in any overlying themes she can think of just before the due date.
And repeat all over the sympoliteia.

You get a case, your first as chief in the court in fact. Then just as you walk in, the de facto chief of staff and long-time dignitary takes your chair, calls the meeting and tells you to wait outside while he finishes working.

Khrazzen would at first assume that his little sister Esssaad is playing a prank on him. When she just keeps going, he'd grab her and carry her off (Esssaad is basically a five-year old) to their species' equivalent of a doctor. Given that their species knows of numerous Eldritch Abominations and possession-capable beings, he's fearing the worst.

Wolfe: After a few jokes to himself along the lines of "they must've heard I was turning up", he would look for some means of signalling for assistance.

It would creep him out somewhat but that wouldn't stop him exploring and trying to find out why and how the ship was abandoned (e.g. are the lifeboats still in their moorings?)

Justice's first impulse is to have his heart skip a beat, then begin looking for survivors. Upon finding none, he quickly abandons the ship to warn his fellow crewmates that something is very, very wrong.

Diamond tries to take control of the ship. If successful, she will use its radio to contact the nearest friendly planetary outpost that there is a massive derelict ship floating around in space with its crew and passengers recently gone. If unsuccessful, she will take all information she can gather before getting out of there.

Osprey begins by quickly searching the ship with her super speed. Upon finding no one else there, she makes a dash to the escape pods. Clearly this is not the place she wants to be.

Wingman activates his tracker to search for the crew and passengers. Upon finding none, he goes to the bridge, gathering all the data he can. He then radios the nearest outpost about the situation, leaving a tracker on the ship so that it can't disappear. He then quickly evacuates.

Glen and Agnes (they're married) would ideally want a relatively ordinary house with enough space for the kids they eventually want to have. Agnes specifically would like to have an edible garden containing some of her favorite foods such as blueberries, cherries and carrots, and Glen would want a large room to be used as a study filled to the brim with papers and writing equipment. Only problem is their funds are very low due to a depression. While the edible garden may come about since a home grown supply of food would be beneficial, the house itself probably would not end up being more than one floor, contain only the necessities and take a long time to be able to complete, assuming they could do it at all.

Anton would have a lot of fun with this. He's the boss of a sort of Irish crime family (even though he's not Irish) and so would take this opportunity to make an expansive hideout for his workers. On the surface he'd make the place look like a large but otherwise normal house, and the average person who enters it would see it as normal too. However, Anton would make sure to have a cool secret passage somewhere that leads to a huge underground area which contains such attractions as a well-stocked bar, a public lounge with a stage for performances, a meeting room for making plans, and a sub-basement meant for his organization's brand of mechanical work (through another secret passage). He'd make the basement's architectural design stand out a lot when compared to the purposely ordinary upper floors by doing things like making the walls oddly shaped or designing the lounge area to have two levels (a "main floor" and a balcony). He'd probably be able to afford all this too, his organization makes a lot of money.

Isabelle is a member of Anton's crime family, but she's one of the very few that has drastically different preferences from her colleagues when it comes to an ideal homestead. She'd like an isolated area for her place, preferably in a cold climate. She'd like it built to be very sturdy out of mostly dark wood, and have the place protected by a tall spiked fence. She'd also make sure the house is placed and designed so she has a vantage point over the surrounding area, being able to see everything from the inside of the house (and shoot any trespassers with a shotgun). The inside of the house wouldn't contain much more than the necessities, aside from one room set aside for memorabilia and a fancy fireplace for her to sit beside in a nice chair while drinking vodka. She's not much of a carpenter, so she'd have to get someone else to build it. She'd definitely be able to build up the funds from her job for such a place given a few years time, but because Anton holds her in high regard for her good work he might be willing to make such a project easier for her.

A stranger walks by your character, and that person doesn't notice their wallet/other money carrying device slipping out of their pocket or bag. Your character, however, does notice the wallet on the ground, but only after that person is out of sight. Your character picks it up unnoticed by anyone else and finds that inside there is a large wad of bills (or other form of currency) that adds up to about 500 dollars in value, as well as that stranger's ID card (or other setting-appropriate form of identification information). What does your character do with this money?

Audrey would take it to the police station to hopefully be found. She'd be sorely tempted, enough that she'd struggle a bit to get herself to hand the money over, but she's not a theif.

Eve might take the money if she can justify it as necessary—if her parents are in a tight spot financially, for instance. Otherwise, she'd take a hundred and take the rest to the police station.

Your character is locked in a doorless, windowless room with an old woman, a young man and a baby. They have to shoot one to go free—due to some magic, they can't turn the gun on themselves, and their captors are nowhere to be seen.

Khrazzen would probably pick the young man. His species live in small, closely knit family groups and generally don't consider killing any being outside their respective family group immoral or reprehensible in any way. However, aged women are the highest in the family group's hierarchy, and killing another family group's leaders or newborns tends to start blood feuds, so he'd pick the young man so that there wouldn't be a chance for him to unintentionally start one. Given that his family group is just himself and his sister, who is their species' equivalent of a preschool-age kid, he really tries to stay out of any kind of conflict. Also, Khrazzen has yet to grasp the idea that not all species share the same values, so he'd do this regardless of whether the three were humans, giierans (his species) or something else entirely.

Rhode would be incredibly confused about the advanced firearm she's been given (she's from a setting where flintlock firearms that hold more than one bullet have just been invented, not that she's even heard of such a thing) but she would pick the old woman, if only for the fact that she has lived a full life already, while the young man and the baby still have much to live for. Plus, she'd consider the possibility that she has to fight their captors, and the young man would prove more useful in that situation. And while she is very much an aggressive criminal who kills for (sometimes for the mere chance of gaining) money, she still never even considers harming children.

Jonah Ashland would first perform a reality check. He's a lucid dreamer, and considering that he fights nightgaunts, evil forces that assume the form of apparitions created by the human subconscious every night, he'd definitely want to know whether the scenario is real or dream. If it turned out to be real, he'd first look for any way to get out of the situation, and when none are found, he'd pick the old woman (for the same reasoning as Rhode, though he'd be much more reluctant about it considering that he's never really killed anything). If the reality check proved that it was a dream scenario, however, he would first try to reality-warp his way out of the situation, probably by creating a doorway into the wall. If he still couldn't get out, he'd be incredibly confused as for why it isn't working (there are some beings in the setting that can override a lucid dreamer's abilities in the dream world, but there's only a few and the way they do it is easily recognisable). Then, he would get as far away from the three other people as possible, take turns pointing the gun at them, and ask them uncomfortably personal questions (nightgaunts that possess people can pretend to be them in the dream world, and while they gain all the possessed person's memories, their thought processes work so differently that they don't understand why, for example, humans would react to a complete stranger casually asking about their sex life with shock instead of just answering the questions). When no typical nightgaunt reaction comes from either the old lady or the young man, he'd point the gun at the baby. The two others' ability to answer proves to him that they're lucid dreamers (non-lucid dreamers don't react to a lucid dreamer's presence), but babies are too young for lucidity and Jonah knows this. So he immediately suspects a nightgaunt. He's once encountered a nightgaunt that took the form of a baby, so he knows not to take chances. Besides, people don't die in reality when they die in the dream world, so if it turned out to be a rare lucid infant, there would be no real harm done. (Aside from the baby's parents, who would wake up to the sound of crying in the middle of the night, but they're probably used to it)

Same scenario.

Wolfe would hold off until absolutely sure that there was no chance of rescue or any other way out and ask the old woman and young man if either volunteers to be the one to die - working on the assumption that an escape for him is an escape for the other survivors, too.

If neither volunteered, he would choose the old woman as she's already lived a lengthy life - not that Wolfe is exactly young himself - and the young man and (especially) the baby have the rest of their lives ahead of them.

The sheer mathmatics of four people dying - one of which is a baby - or one dying to save the other three cannot be escaped... but Wolfe would not be happy about it at all.

He would then kill as humanely as possible - the mercy of a quick and painless death.

On being released, Wolfe would then sink every resource he has and call in every favour he can to track down those responsible for the situation and he'd be making sure they "fell down the stairs" and "walked into the walls" on their way to the cells - numerous times.

Same.

Val feels that if she must play the executioner, she may as well take upon the roles of judge and jury as well. She converses with the two capable of speaking, relying both upon her rhetorical and cold reading abilities to suss out any information that may aid in making her final decision, pitting the two against one another if necessary. In the end, if she feels that neither of the two are deserving of such a fate, she turns the gun upon the infant, who she reasons hasn't fully realized personhood or awareness, and unless one of the other two offer to take its place, that is the one she would kill.

Syla hails from a clan in which elders are important in decision-making, so she quickly rules the old woman out. As for the baby, she still remembers the trauma inflicted upon her family when her brother was taken away at such a young age and can't bring herself to kill it either. In the end, being from a land where those in their prime frequently are sent to war upon one another, killing the young man is an easy decision for Syla.

Cardinal Noboyuki actually deals with stuff of this nature on a daily basis, due to the way the Tarsian political system functions. Should the Imperial in power begin displaying totalitarian tendencies, he can begin manipulating the other members of the council into plotting against them. Then it's a simple matter of turning public opinion against the ruler and getting them deposed. Should things get really out of hand, Noboyuki will step in personally and force the tyrant to abdicate.

While your character was sleeping, their soul became detached from their body, trapping them in the Dreamworld.
