Gonna use this to practice for an unpublished works page now. =)
Grey Snow
Note: These tropes apply to the current incarnation of the story and not the future rehaul. Details may change.
- Abusive Parents: Button's father (physical), Nickel and Train's father (emotional), Doc's father (emotional). Daddy issues, ahoy! Also, Jack's mom, before she died.
- Blue Bishōnen Ghetto: This was more or less the original concept of the story, when the creator was 15 years old or so; i.e. a story full of pretty guys. Fortunately this is somewhat averted by the current incarnation, which has a more realistic aim for the characters.
- Braids, Beads and Buckskins: Averted(?) with Asher, who wants nothing to do with 'his culture', thanks to familial issues. Subverted with Doc's (dead) mother, who was very in touch with her heritage, but lived and worked in an oftentimes racist environment, and so dressed in a typical "American" style.
- Child Prodigy: Luther Gideon.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Pretty much everybody except Asher. The creator actually made a list ranking the characters in order of who had the most fucked up back story.
- Dark Skinned Blond: See King's wtf-ish chibi avatar. Makes no damn sense but his appearance change is being saved for the rehaul.
- Depraved Bisexual: Pistol, though whether he likes women at all is questionable, so he could also be read as Gayngster.
- Evil Albino: Subverted with Ice. He's no more evil than any of the other main characters, and actually less so than some.
- Five-Token Band: Make that Twenty Token Band. The cast is possibly unjustifiably diverse.
- Foe Yay: Out the wazoo. One of the original premises, really.
- Grey-and-Grey Morality
- Harmful to Minors: Key components of nearly all the troubled pasts.
- Ho Yay: Urban and Doc, primarily.
- Is That Cute Kid Yours?: Happens occasionally to King, given how closely Button clings to him when they're together.
- "L" Is for "Dyslexia": Ice, in particular, though this may be due to the vision impairment stemming from his albinism.
- Lonely Rich Kid: Cash.
- Loser Guy: Asher.
- Manchild: Jack, 19 years old with the mentality of a child, courtesy of being born to a drug-addled prostitute. Also suffers from ADHD.
- Mysterious Past: Played straight with Stealth. Applies at least somewhat to several other characters, at least in the main story.
- Neighbourhood-Friendly Gangsters: For supposedly threatening street gangs, the two groups do little to show this off. The aggression of certain characters and mentions of criminal activities are the only thing saving them from becoming The Gangsters Who Don't Do Anything.
- Parental Abandonment: At least half the cast.
- Psycho Supporter: Nickel for Pistol. Maybe.
- Really Gets Around: King.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Councilman Terry.
- Satisfied Street Rat: Breaker, King, Pistol, Rush, Crimson.
- Slice of Life: Owing partly to the creator's enjoyment of the genre, partly to her inability to plot.
- Stoic Spectacles: Urban.
- Straight Gay: Echo. Also, Urban, but no one knows it yet, including him.
- Street Urchin: About a third of the cast in their youths.
- The Artful Dodger: Nickel, when he was young.
- The Medic: Doc, aka the mysteriously noncombative gangster.
- The Reveal: Terry turns out to be the father Urban never knew.
- The Un-Favorite: Train, before he left his family.
- Tragic Mulatto: Played straight somewhat with Urban, with possibility of self-loathing of his Caucasian side.
- Transsexual: Patrick Hensley, born Patricia.
- Troubled Child: Button.
- Tsundere: Adele.
- White Gangbangers: Rush, Sanders, Ice, Shark.
- White-Haired Pretty Boy: Ice, though this is questionable, since he is an actual albino and not spectacularly good-looking.
- Word of God: Half the information on this page.
- Wrong Side of the Tracks: 90% of the main cast.
