Rage Breaking Point / Fan Works

Go To

Times where people hit their Rage-Breaking Points in Fan Works.

Crossovers
  • All For Luz: In chapter 11, Luz reaches hers after she discovers the mangled corpses of her recently murdered teammates, including her First Friend, Julia Wittebane. This leads to her committing a near Total Party Kill in her Roaring Rampage of Revenge on the two enemy teams.
  • Ruby Rose hits this in Chapter 70 of BlazBlue Alternative: Remnant. After Terumi admits to killing her mother, Summer Rose, she completely loses it and lashes out at him in pure rage.
  • Child of the Storm:
    • Harry finally snaps in chapter 74 of the first book, after his father, Thor (formerly incarnated as James Potter), is shot and put into a coma in front of him just as him and Jane are attacked by heavily armed HYDRA troopers. Since this is shortly after Luna Lovegood was shot by HYDRA for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and he was actually killed by Daken before being resurrected by the Phoenix, this is not surprising. It is also absolutely terrifying and it is made perfectly clear that if Jane hadn't been there to talk him down, he'd have slaughtered every single one of the HYDRA troopers without batting an eye.
    • Chapter 75 shows that he's still in the throes of Tranquil Fury and that a murderous rampage is still on the cards, as evidenced by his ripping out Gravemoss' heart - not that the guy didn't deserve it, mind you - and only his friends are holding him in check.
    • And then in the sequel, this happens again after a brutal Trauma Conga Line during the Forever Red arc, culminating in him snapping and becoming the Dark Phoenix. A spectacularly violent Roaring Rampage of Revenge ensues.
  • In Cinders and Ashes: the Chronicles of Kamen Rider Dante, Hoshi was put into a downward spiral of doubt when he realized that he based his story's villains off of Setsuna's bullies. It was made worse when a bunch of information came to him all at once. What made him snap was a moment where he believes his Cool Big Sis was murdered, he finds out that his friend had a role in the death of Setsuna, and was made to believe that Meteora killed Mamika, all in the same span of a minute. This culminated in Hoshi literally exploding into his Rider form and spending the majority of a chapter in a Roaring Rampage of Revenge.
  • In A Different Medius, this is the reason Azurai murdered Buwaro's birth parents, and the people at the 'troubled youth' camp Azurai was sent to as a teenager.
  • The Dragon and the Bow: When Snotlout, Tuffnut, and Fishlegs (who was only a tagalong) show up to mock Hiccup at the forge after they and Astrid ruin his chance to befriend Merida, Hiccup hits Snotlout and Tuffnut with his hammer before chasing them all away. He then goes on a Calling the Old Man Out/"The Reason You Suck" Speech to Gobber about how no matter what he does, he cannot get any support or respect from anybody and that despite how important the treaty is, he is the only one who is actually trying to make it work. This definitely gets a reaction from Gobber and Fishlegs.
  • Fantasy of Utter Ridiculousness: The events of the main story and everything she dreamed about since then left Patchouli with a deep enough distrust of Coop and his antics that it verged on trauma. When she found out in the Extra Stage that Megas's crew had returned, her stress and anger steadily rose. When she lost a game of Rock–Paper–Scissors meant to determine who would serve as Coop's escort during his visit, they skyrocketed; and when Reimu tells her to suck it up and deal with it, they finally cause her to snap, screaming angrily and—in a moment that takes everyone off guard—bodily hurling Reimu at Megas's head.
  • Near the end of Goggles and the Tears, Gordon Freeman struggles to stay cool while aiding several other time-displaced one-man armies like him in stopping SHODAN from taking over the multiverse, but he finally flips out and pulls a gun on Elizabeth when he refuses to accept her explanation of Constants and Variables, in the face of his own experience with physics and teleportation. He only backs down when Booker DeWitt tells him to.
  • Ahsoka Tano in I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For managed to make it through her sham trial and expulsion from the Jedi Order with her cool mostly intact. Even finding out that Barriss Offee, the one who framed her for a terrorist attack and mass murder, is getting off without punishment only earned a short angry rant. But when Shaak Ti claims that Ahsoka doesn't have the right to be angry over all that's happened, because it leads to the Dark Side, Ahsoka snaps and goes on a curse-laden rant about how the Republic and Jedi Order completely screwed her over and no one was willing to defend her except Anakin. The Jedi Order was all she'd ever known and they took everything from her without a token protest and never apologize for it, then tell her she's wrong to be upset by it. The entire time, her magic is throwing nearby objects around in a swirling vortex, several of them launched directly at Shaak Ti.
  • Infinity Train: Blossoming Trail:
    • The first chapter sees Chloe enduring a series of stressful events, starting with her classmates learning that Ash is the Alola Champion and pestering her to challenge him. Due to her inexperience, she gets curb stomped, and Goh and her father promptly show far more interest in her than they have in ages... or rather, in her battle. Reinforcing her belief that they care more about Pokémon than they do about her. Having to endure them happily chattering about the fight and critiquing her loss while being forced to eat a food she deeply dislikes pushes her over the deep end, leading to her lashing out and starting an argument that culminates with her running away — and encountering the titular Train.
    • A Flashback in Chapter 11 reveals just how far Sara and Yeardley took their bullying in the past, dumping red paint all over her costume for the talent show... and then, when she put together an alternative outfit in order to perform, dumping more paint onto her. They even knocked around her little brother Parker with one of the paint cans! When Chloe attempts to guide him away without any further confrontation, Sara tosses out one last barb at her back about how her father never pays attention to her, pushing her completely over the edge. It doesn't end well for Sara.
  • JoJo New Universe: In Stardust Crusaders, while Fluttershy is the same Nice Girl and Friend to All Living Things she is in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, she still has built up frustration whenever girls try to flirt with her boyfriend Jotaro Kujo. So when Midler, one of their enemies, starts flirting with Jotaro despite trying to kill him and the other Crusaders inside her Stand High Priestess, Fluttershy finally snaps and uses her Stand to grow thorns and tear up the inside of High Priestess's mouth, which also damages Midler in return.
Fluttershy: THAT'S IT! I've had all I can take from other girls flirting with my boyfriend! With my classmates I could quietly tolerate it so long as they kept their parroting to a minimum. Anne was able to be subtle with her attraction. But now an enemy is doing the flirting? I've had all I can stand!
  • Metal Gear: Green:
    • When the African Refugees are told to go home by the heroes, instead of doing what the heroes requested, the refugees began attacking the heroes, viewing their ignorance, plight and attempt to take those actually helping them away as them demanding they go fuck off and die, all while freeing the captured MSF members.
    • Ocelot becomes fed up with Aizawa's incompetence, refusal to accept reality and calls him out for his inability to teach, resulting in Fudaki's death.
    • When receiving the recent report on MSF advances and finding out Langa's forces were nowhere near the front, Luan flips into a berserk state, breaks the table the map was on, and after calming down enough, orders the officer giving the report to call back all his forces.
  • The Mountain and the Wolf: The Wolf taunts Baelish into attacking him in blind rage by triggering a flashback to the original duel that served as his Start of Darkness. Unfortunately (for him), when he snaps out of it he realizes that he did no damage whatsoever except to his own ego (and Arya is sick with laughter at him).
  • In Neither a Bird nor a Plane, it's Deku!, Izuku tries his best to sound unaware of his spaceship's existence and distance himself from it while being held hostage by the the Ultra-Humanite. But as the Villain continues to pat the ship over and over while mentioning how he's going to take it apart to learn its inner workings, Izuku eventually snaps and screams at him to stop touching it, which convinces the Villain to finally try to execute him.
  • Pokémon: Loud Version Kanto:
    • After being repeatedly blamed for Lynn losing several games, Lincoln avoids attending her championship softball game...only for her to still accuse him of being responsible for her loss. He snaps back that she's just a Sore Loser who refuses to admit that she lost fair and square, triggering her own rage-breaking point.
    • When his parents reveal that they're shipping him off to Kanto, Lincoln explodes, calling them out on their blatant Parental Favoritism and treating him like he's the only problem rather than addressing Lynn or the other girls' issues. He's so enraged by their blatant double standards that he refuses to say goodbye when they drop him off at the airport, breaking Rita's heart.
    • Rita reaches her own breaking point when Lynn Sr. not only joins in on their daughters dismissing Lincoln as "bad luck", but tells her that the girls want to board up his bedroom again. This spurs her to start standing up to her family, declaring that anyone who dares touch his room like that will be forced to sleep outside, as well as having their possessions sold as they did to Lincoln before.
    • Rita hits another one during Lincoln's second progress report. Lynn cruelly reveals that they sold his stuff so they could go to the beach without him, causing him to end the call early in tears. Rita calls Lynn out for being a Big Sister Bully and grounds her for a month, along with banning her from sports.
  • Shadows over Meridian:
    • Elyon finally blows up on Caleb in Chapter 10 for his refusal to accept responsibility for his part in the entire situation with Jade/Kage (treating her like a monster created by Phobos with no proof), and how he keeps making things worse, especially with his determination to kill Jade/Kage no matter what, even after Elyon has just said she's trying to find a peaceful solution.
    • In Chapter 28, Jade's mounting frustration and anger from having to deal with Vera's infiltration attack on Snowpoint finally boils over after Vera tries to kill her with a cave-in. She proceeds to go full Oni and threatens to unleash the full might of the Shadow Realm, risking the entire mountain and everyone in it before being talked down.
  • Shinji endures five days of testing of his new telekinetic abilities in Shinji's Nightmare before he finally snaps and instead of moving the one thousand kilogram weight set up, lifts the destroyer in the Geofront 300 meters in the air to get the tests to stop.
  • The Superheroics of Haruhi Suzumiya: Izuku endured Katsuki's bullying for seven years straight before Haruhi transferred into their 6th grade class, showing him what having a real friend was like. When Katsuki learns that Izuku isn't going to follow him to Aldera Middle School, he blames and demeans Haruhi... and Izuku punches him, calling him out on treating him like garbage and declaring that he's done waiting for his friend Kacchan to come back.
  • Thousand Shinji: Shinji badly wanted to punish his father for abandoning him, but he decided that Gendo was not worth his time so he repressed his anger and focused on bonding with his new family: Asuka -his girlfriend-, Rei -his sister-, Misato -his surrogate mother-, Toji and Kensuke -his friends-... but then Gendo forced Asuka to cripple his best friend and kill her best friend. Shortly after Asuka's mind got shattered during a battle, Misato got jailed... and he found out that their mothers' souls were locked into the Evas to make them work. So he decided he would repair Asuka's mind, break Misato out -killing whoever got in the way-, obliterate the Geofront and kill and torture his father and the Seele members (in that order).
  • In Weiss Reacts Volume 2, Sun, normally pretty calm, loses it when Blake's manliness obsession goes too far.

101 Dalmatian Street

  • In I AM A DE VIL Dylan overhears his parents talking about him and calling him useless. He gets very angry and yells at the both of them. He yells about how he worked so hard and the sacrifice he made. Doug tried to speak to him, but Dylan interrupts him and yelling at him saying he's not his Dad and yells at his mom. Then he runs away from home.

Ah! My Goddess

  • Urd in This Time Around rages against Belldandy after the goddess cockblocks her for the nth time and eyes Keiichi (Urd's boyfriend in this story) while he gets dressed. Part of Urd's problem is that not only has Belldandy been keeping her from getting laid for weeks now (albeit unintentionally), but Belldandy is far more skilled than her at reading auras and should be able to tell that Urd was trying to get her out of the house so she and Keiichi could make love.

Animorphs

  • All Assorted Animorphs AUs: In "What was Tom and Aftran's first conversation like?", Tom is passive at first and lets Aftran do whatever with him... but when she mentions Jake, he bursts into a rant about how he'd make a terrible host.
  • In Ghost in the Shell, Tom learns about the fugue state, which is when a Yeerk dies of Kandrona starvation and its memories are dumped into the host's brain. He asks Jake why he never told him that he saw some of his memories when Temrash 114 died, which leads to Tom ranting about how Jake didn't do more to save him during the war.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

  • Avatar: Legend of the Guardian: In "The Crossroads of Destiny," Xia initially tries to defend herself to a suspicious Katara, but when Katara declares that she should have known better and as the Fire Lord's daughter, things like deceit are in her blood, she snaps and stuns Katara speechless by revealing what Ozai is really like as a father, up to and including his burning Zuko's face and banishing him.

Code Geass

  • In Code Geass: The Prepared Rebellion, Euphemia, normally the friendliest and least confrontational character in the story, rips Cornelia a new one for both her attempts at recreating the Shinjuku Massacre and for hiding it from her. Euphy coldly tells her that Cornelia's refusal to perform her own duties as Viceroy and not informing the Sub-Viceroy (Euphy) of military operations within her jurisdiction are both serious crimes, even for an Imperial Princess. Likewise, Euphemia is sick of Cornelia monitoring her finances, reading her mail, and having her Knights follow Euphemia everywhere.

Dragon Ball Z

Encanto

  • May I have this dance?: While Mirabel was sad about everyone forgetting her birthday, she was willing to shrug it all off when the family offers to throw her a late quinceañera. Then Alma snipes that she doesn't "deserve" a party, spurring her granddaughter to rip into her:
Mirabel: I don't DESERVE one? I've been taking care of Antonio since I was 10 years old. I practically raised him because you all are always too busy. I try everyday to help you in any way that I can. I do nothing but help and love this family. I deserved MY night and you all screwed me over. Isabela got her night. Dolores got her night. Luisa got to have her night. EVEN CAMILO GOT HIS OWN PARTY THIS YEAR. I wanted NOTHING more than for you all to be here. I didn't want a big party. God knows who I would even have in my court because I don't have friends my own age if you haven't noticed. I just wanted to have my dance and be with my family as I became a woman and now I'm being told I didn't DESERVE that? You want to know why I don't want a party anymore? Because there's nothing left to do. Antonio changed my shoes and I had my first dance, I made my dress by myself and screw the fucking flowers. I had my quince. You just weren't there.

The Familiar of Zero

  • In Loopholes, Louise snaps when Guiche claims she's paid Tabitha to pretend to be her familiar. She launches into a combined Motive Rant and "The Reason You Suck" Speech about how, unlike her, Guiche has never worked for his magic. While she spent countless hours practicing in secret or studying in the library, he sat on his ass and flirted with pretty girls. Now after all the effort she's put in to finally achieve something, he's trying to take away her sole magical accomplishment. After all this, Louise roars that she will flay him alive and have his hair commissioned into a doily.

Fate/Grand Order

  • Fragments of Chaldea: Arturia spends most of Fragment 8 in a funk due to all of the various "Saberface" Heroic Spirits in Chaldea. Then Cu cracks one to many jokes about it... without anyone realizing that Artoria's drink was spiked with a potion that amplifies her current feelings (itself tampered with to magnify the effects). The result? The birth of Mysterious Heroine X and a murderous rampage that takes eight Servants to stop.

Final Fantasy VII

  • All Along the Watchtower: The story follows Reeves Tuesti during a "Groundhog Day" Loop, constantly trying and failing to prevent his Shinra co-workers from dropping the Sector 7 plate. This leads to a build up of frustration both of his own failings and President Shinra and the other executive's disregard for human life, the latter having been stewing for gears before the loop started. At the end of the first chapter, when Reeve's attempt to convince the president to remove the emergency drop from the plates fail due to Shinra's obsession of control over Midgar, Reeve's finally snaps and attempts to strangle him to death, which fails when Shinra shoots him with his hidden pistol. He spends several loops trying to kill the other executives and getting killed in the process before his anger finally subdues and feel sicken by his past actions.
  • Us and Them: Aeris, after finding out that a botched rescue attempt wound up separating her from her parents for ten years, goes on a long and angry rant.

Firefly

  • In Freedom to the Free, Wash, Kaylee, River, and Simon are kidnapped by slavers. Simon suffers the most because he's trying to protect the others, complying with the slave owner's demands for sex to keep River and Kaylee from being violated and looking out for Wash when the pilot is brutally beaten in an escape attempt. After they're rescued, Mal questions Simon about the little girl they were asked to bring with them, and Simon panics and runs off. Wash snaps when Jayne makes a rude remark about it. He's literally shaking with anger and grabs Zoe's gun from her holster to flat-out threaten Jayne's life if he ever says anything like that again.
  • In Wash’s Beginning, Wash has been teased by Jayne ever since joining the crew. He finally gets fed up and gives Jayne a string of Chinese that criticized his sexual preferences, questioned whether his parents were married when he was conceived, compared his intelligence to a slightly retarded monkey, accused him of flatulence at inappropriate moments, and questioned his fashion sense.

Harry Potter

  • Professor McGonagall hits hers in Chapter 2 of Brutal Harry, calling out the faculty for their inaction with the troll incident that almost killed Hermione and Snape for his Jerkass behavior of taking his grudge against James out on Harry, warning him that his blatant favoritism of the Slytherins will no longer be tolerated. She saves the harshest words for Dumbledore in particular, calling him out on ignoring her warnings about the Dursleys and letting multiple problems (including Snape's unprofessional behavior as a teacher and the bullying issues at the school) slip through the cracks.
  • In an omake for Dungeons and Drow, Luna finally gets back at her bullies with a little encouragement from Hermione (who herself has been taught by the titular Drow). Four older girls hex and beat Luna then lock her in a closet before breaking into her trunk. Said trunk contained Devil's Snare and Peruvian Darkness Powder, which smothered any light or flame used to drive off the Devil's Snare. Shacklebolt later notes that both objects are completely legal to own and the only reason anything happened was the bullies breaking into Luna's trunk. When giving his report, Shacklebolt quotes the Hogwarts motto "Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus".
  • In Bobmin356's fanfic Parallels, Harry Potter is a dimension hopping super powerful mage that has entered a reality where most of his family and friends are alive, but pureblood ideals are even worse than in canon- and Ron and Ginevra Weasley are gleeful subscribers to that viewpoint, no less, earning Harry's disdain. It quickly comes to a head when Ginevra tries to frame Hermione cheating on Harry using Crabbe, Goyle and a ridiculously powerful lust potion, and when Harry finds out what she had planned, his rage goes straight through red hot, to white hot, to Tranquil Fury in five seconds flat, promising dire retribution for the entire Weasley family if Hermione ends up permanently affected. Hell, he subtly threatens Dumbledore by simply stating that if the culprits were still in the castle tomorrow they would not like his reaction- which would be utterly nuclear given his frankly godlike levels of power.
Harry: Did you think I wouldn't forgive [Hermione]? You're nothing but a petty, foolish child, Ginevra, and I'll see you get the Kiss for what you've done.
Hetalia: Axis Powers

Hilda

  • Hilda and the howling woods: Hilda gets a few frustrating revelations in quick succession in the early chapters. First she gets scared by a werewolf watching her in the middle of the night twice, had a difficult conversation with her mother over her Disappeared Dad, found out from The Rat King that the werewolf is her dad, which means she herself might be a werewolf. She braves through the knowledge well enough, but the last straw comes when she finds out The Bellkeeper who helped her a few times in Season 2 is her father, she finally snaps, gets into an argument with the subject of her rage, and in the heat of the moment, tears off a silver bell charm from her neck that he gifted her earlier and throws it away. She transforms into a werewolf on the spot and almost attacks her friends.

The Hunger Games

  • Inevitably happens in Some Semblance of Meaning with Career tribute deuteragonist Obsidian. He is willing to put up with the other Careers' indifference to the death of one of their own. He's even willing to keep his mouth shut when they maliciously joke about killing Vale next, just after the death of her district partner, Kit. But when they kill a defenseless fawn for the fun of it, that is the final straw that drives him to pull a Heel–Face Turn.

KanColle

  • In The Greatest Generation chapter ten, a seemingly neverending series of misunderstandings tests Yvonne's patience until she cannot take it any longer, upon which she makes a Precision F-Strike and floors Musashi with a single punch.
  • In a 4-koma for Pacific: World War II U.S. Navy Shipgirls, New Jersey shows Iowa her canonical version. While at first maintaining a stoic composure, she finally gives in after hearing the very suggestive lines of the latter and beats Jersey's face to a pulp.

Katawa Shoujo

  • Mean Time to Breakdown: Iwanako tends to 'deal' with her issues by bottling them all up and pretending nothing's bothering her. As her circumstances keep detoriating, she struggles to keep everything tamped down, even after receiving an ill-timed "The Reason You Suck" Speech from her teacher after being hospitalized by Emi's Crash-Into Hello. Then the one responsible for sending her there shows up, admits she'd been warned about what caused the problem in the past... and Emi's mom pokes her head into the room. Seeing that Emi's mom is there for her when her own family is nowhere in sight pushes Iwanako past her breaking point, and she finally explodes.

Kirby

  • In Wings Of Change, inspired by the anime, Kirby is increasingly stressed both from the ungrateful Cappy Town people and his struggles in learning to fly with his new wings. He eventually reaches his last straw and explodes with rage after Dedede shows everybody a hilarious compilation video of Kirby's flying fails, making everyone bar Meta Knight laugh, even if it was mainly in relief after an attack by Dark Matter.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

  • The War Is Far from Over Now: Tony grows increasingly stressed over the course of the civil war, going from planning to chew out Steve and his helpers over all the trouble they've caused to deciding to make them deal with the paperwork. Once he sees the video of the Winter Soldier killing his parents, he snaps and fully reactivates Extremis.

Mass Effect

  • In Mass Effect: Human Revolution, Adam has a Tranquil Fury-fueled Heroic Second Wind when Toombs calls him an Illuminatus.
  • Mass Effect: Murphy's Law: Sean, the main character of the story, has experienced two of these so far. He expresses deep regret every time he loses control of himself (though one can hardly blame him given both circumstances.)
    • He employs waterboarding during his interrogation of Lynda Embry as revenge for all the people she got killed aboard Aldrin Station earlier in the story.
    • After discovering the morgue and the body of a dissected child in the Teltin facility on Pragia, he loses his temper and stabs the Cerberus mortician who was hiding in the room to death in a blind fury. This was AFTER beating the man and Sean having blood spat on his face.

Miraculous Ladybug

  • Cheshire:
    • Marinette lets some of her anger and sadness slip through at Master Fu and Mister Bug when she goes to meet them in person after Kim is outed as King Monkey.
    • Earlier, she vented to Adrien to "get with it", thinking that he was complicit with the bullying.
  • CONSEQUENCES: Several characters hit this during SUN'S WRATH:
    • First, Adrien snaps at Lila when she tries to strongarm her way into accompanying him to the hospital where his boyfriend Luka has been taken.
Adrien: FOR FUCK'S SAKE, IF YOU DON'T TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF ME NOW I WILL RIP YOUR FUCKING ARM OFF AND BEAT YOU TO DEATH WITH IT!!!!!!!
    • Lila promptly plays the victim and starts simpering to their classmates about how mean Adrien was, pushing Marinette past this point as she calls her out on trying to make everything about her.
    • Gabriel then intentionally Invokes and Exploits this by ordering Adrien to leave his comatose boyfriend's side for a photoshoot, enraging his son enough to make him vulnerable to akumatization.
    • When Hell-ios threatens to drop an innocent boy to his death unless Lila trades herself for his safety, the other civilians hiding with her try to convince her to make the self-sacrifice until she finally snaps "You think I care about some stupid brat?! Drop him for all I care, I'm not going out there!"
    • Finally, after Ladybug manages to talk Adrien down from strangling Lila to death after being deakumatized, Lila immediately sneers " Am I supposed to be grateful, Ladybug?" Ladybug promptly lays her out flat in one punch.
    • ZOMBIZOU features another example. After Lila repeatedly whittles down the group of survivors with her Chronic Backstabbing Disorder, she turns around and taunts Ladybug with how she wasn't able to protect anyone else. Ladybug subjects her to a Neck Lift, slamming her back against the wall and nearly strangling her to death before she can force herself to relax her grip.
  • Crimson and Noire: Tikki was willing to put up with a lot of distrust and jerkish behavior from Plagg towards Adrien in the months following Monarch’s debut. Aside from the fact that the two of them have known each other since the beginning of time and understand each other perfectly, she's seen the way previous Black Cats were treated and knows why Plagg can't bring himself to trust people to treat his partners well. But when Plagg immediately responds to Crimson Beetle's offer of a gift by saying the best gift would be never speaking to him again, Tikki loses it and tells Plagg he has no right to treat one of her kindest partners in centuries that way when Crimson Beetle has always unflinchingly supported Lady Noire.
  • As part of a plan to take Lila down in the high road, Marinette becomes Lila's biggest supporter and drags all her classmates into catering to her every whim. This naturally has the effect of wearing down her classmates and resent Lila for having to sacrifice so much of their time and energy on her (yet they don't blame Marinette because as their "Everyday Ladybug", they simply think she's just helping somebody in need out of kindness). After several months of this, when Marinette suggest welcoming Lila back from one of her "charity trips" with a huge party, Adrien can't take it anymore and explodes into such a colorful rant, Marinette is genuinely shocked:
Adrien: I’m sick and tired of her taking advantage of Marinette’s kindness and doing all this stupid shit for a disability I know she doesn’t have! Tinnitus from saving Jagged Stone’s kitten from a fucking airplane strip?! Arthritis?! Gluten-allergy?! She eats more pastries than I do on photoshoot sets, with the number of disabilities she has, she should be fucking dead by now—
—And she played me like a fucking idiot, forcing me to write her notes and tutor her, I don't even see my friends enough as it and now this, and she's got even Marinette to believe her and she’s clearly using her to get free stuff like the clothes she makes and she's just so full of shit, I can’t take playing nice anymore, I'm at the end of my fucking rope—
  • I'm In Love With Another Boy: When Ladybug confronts Chat Noir over how frequently he's been skipping akuma battles as of late, only showing up late if he bothers to make any appearance at all, he declares that she's 'overreacting'. Hearing this convinces her that the only way to deal with her nominal partner is to reclaim the Black Cat Ring from him. This also reveals to her that the reason why Chat Noir had been missing so much is because Adrien had been busy playing a Deliberately Distressed Damsel to make her rescue him all the time.
  • Of Patience and Pettiness: Adrien hits one in "Confrontation" after hearing Eden compliment Marinette on treating Paris' heroes like people and respecting their privacy, as he's convinced that Eden is being deliberately passive-aggressive and accuses her of being Ladybug. This sets off Alya, who rounds on Eden and demands to know if their friendship was all fake, accusing her of being a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing. This concentrated assault leads to the completely confused and innocent Eden getting akumatized into Asian Beetle, thanks to Hawk Moth exploiting her anger over their wild accusations.
  • In Scandal Scandal, Adrien has been worn down by Lila taking advantage of his promise to be her friend as long as she stops painting Marinette in a bad light to harass him and snooping into his private stuff without permission. Then, she decides to claim on TV that the two of them are dating, and Adrien's father decides to force Adrien to go through with the idea. Adrien snaps and proceeds to find a public place where he'll be able to catch another journalist's attention and swiftly demolish all of Lila's lies.
  • Scarlet Lady: After Chloé vandalizes Marinette's birthday gift for her, Mme. Bustier pulls Marinette aside. Though she reassures her that she's not being punished, she completely ignores her 'star student' revealing how hurt she was and encourages her to Turn the Other Cheek and forgive Chloé despite how the other girl isn't even pretending to be sorry. This spurs Marinette to snap at her for blatantly disregarding her feelings and coddling the Spoiled Brat Rich Bitch.
  • An untitled one-shot features Marlena and Otis commissioning Marinette to design a dress as a birthday gift for their daughter. When the big day arrives, she delivers the dress but surprises them by leaving, revealing that Alya uninvited her when she refused to make her a dress to wear to her party for free on short notice. Their bafflement turns to mounting anger as they watch Alya cheerfully celebrate without her 'best friend', gushing over their gift and declaring that she's glad Marinette didn't make her one. But what tips them over the edge is Lila falsely claiming she hooked them up with an Italian designer, spurring them to cancel the party, reveal the truth, and kick everyone out so they can confront their daughter over her entitlement.

Monsterverse

  • Abraxas (Hrodvitnon): Vivienne Graham, who was known to be Beware the Nice Ones when she was human before her transformation into a Two Beings, One Body Titan and her Trauma Conga Line, hits this when Alan Jonah's Mook Lieutenant trying to provoke a reaction out of her works too well; she explodes, whilst San takes control of their shared body and paints the walls with blood in retribution for the emotional harm to his sister.
    • In this non-canon crossover post by the author, Abraxas!Maia Simmons is disgusted that Canon!Maia Simmons doesn't have any of her practical intelligence or reservations about their father's plans, but she doesn't lose her temper to the point of getting physical until Canon!Maia mentions that her universe's Ren Serizawa is hooking his brain into Ghidorah's skull.

My Hero Academia

  • Deku in Class 1-B has Izuku finally hit his limit during his one-on-one match against Bakugo in the Sports Festival Finals. During their match Bakugo continues to insult and berate his former victim for lying to him about "hiding his Quirk just to make fun of him" while Izuku tries to make peace and tell his former friend that wasn't the case. However, Bakugo angrily brushes off Izuku's goodwill and insults him to the point of mockingly saying that he feels sorry for his mom for having "such a useless, Quirkless, son who hid his Quirk just to look down on him". This caused Izuku to snap as he began angrily began a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown on Bakugo while giving him a "Reason You Suck" Speech after seeing that there is no reasoning with Bakugo as he's nothing more than a selfish, self-centered bully.
  • Izuku in Internet Friends manages to get through All For One viciously tearing apart a post he made online (neither knows who the other is) about who the top ten heroes should be, and even bounces back with some encouragement from other users. But once All For One goes on a rant against All Might, Izuku replies with a detailed "The Reason You Suck" Speech detailing exactly why All For One is wrong about All Might and why the man has more than earned his ranking as the top hero. Izuku then ends it all with a Precision F-Strike.
Izuku: Your vile character and inability to accept a dialogue unless it revolves around you putting down others proves, in the end, that you care nothing for what quirk and other forms of analysis really are. They are not your hobby. Being a petty son of a bitch is.
  • In Karma in Retrograde, Touya Todoroki has done his best to be good after learning all the horrible things he does as Dabi. But when Bakugou pushes his buttons one too many times, Touya snaps, silencing everyone else in the room with sheer, unbridled rage.
Bakugou: I'm sorry. I’m sorry I don’t feel like being friends with someone who kidnapped me and had a hand in forcing All Might into retirement - someone who murdered people and almost killed his own brother before he got hit with a Clean Slate Quirk.
    Shouto: Bakugou-
Touya: What do you want? (spins in Bakugou's direction) What do you want from me? (holds his hands up with his palms out) What can I possibly do for you to get off my case? You want me to beg for forgiveness? Get on my knees and tell you all the wrongs I did and can't fucking remember? You want me to leave? Drop out? Don't worry; you’ll probably get your wish after all this shit. Maybe they'll throw me in jail too. Might as well. There isn't a point to me being here. Everyone is trying to make themselves feel better, but the truth is this is a worthless experiment that is only going to end with me locked up.
    Iida: That's not-
Touya: It is and don't try denying it! I'm a charity case. You know what's even worse? Monoma was right: I wouldn't be here if I wasn’t a goddamn Todoroki. (throws his hands in the air and drops them) If I was some nobody - and I am, trust me, just ask the number one hero - I would've been carted off to prison. But just like he was afraid of - like U.A. is afraid of - my existence is a mark against heroes. It's an embarrassment, a shame, a smear. They've gotta fix it somehow. Oh, I know, let's give him a 'second chance' until he turns back and we lock him up forever. That won't fuck him up even further!
  • In Monster, teenagers Hizashi and Shota are captured by a crazy guy who experiments on Hizashi. Hizashi was already thinking of breaking the guy’s neck but when the guy tells him he sold Shota and taunts him about having the buyer send videos of the training process and “seeing your little moonlight spreading his legs like—“ He doesn’t get to finish because Hizashi snaps and grabs the guy through the cage bars and slams his face into said bars hard. He can’t do much else muzzled and caged but Shota was also told he’d been sold and he decided to take action to free himself and get help and fortunately both boys are saved.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

  • The Apprentice, the Student, and the Charlatan: Nova Shine has three separate instances in the first half of the story where he tries to keep himself in control as three separate ponies manage to push his buttons (all unintentionally) until he finally starts screaming at them (and in one case, letting loose reflexive magic).
  • After managing to contain his anger for most of the story, Nav completely snaps in Diaries of a Madman, upon being trapped in female form after his gender-switching artifact stops working.
  • A Diplomatic Visit:
    • Twilight has one. It's not easy to trigger, but under the right stimulus, she can utterly lose it, as seen in the Froggy Bottom Bog incident, and in chapter 21, it's hit hard - her conversation with Princess Luna manages to hit at least a few of her triggers until she goes out to scream herself into unconsciousness afterward, and later when she's woken up by Swift-Pad because she inadvertently caused a panic by teleporting, it pushes her over the edge again; thankfully, she maintains enough control to keep from causing physical harm and to let Spike talk to her without fear soon afterward. When she's explaining this to Swift-Pad later, she makes it clear that she's not happy to have this issue, given the loss of control it represents, and that she regrets lashing out at him verbally like she did.
    • Twilight crosses it again in chapter 11 of the third story, Diplomacy Through Schooling, when Tirek destroys both her home and the school she founded and goes full-on One-Winged Angel. The only reason he survives is that she wants him to live in eternal torment.
  • Escape from the Moon: Spliced Genome's comes in the sequel The Mare From the Moon, when, after close to three hundred years of behaving herself, she's killed again... destroying all the hard (and harmless) work she's been doing, causing her to decide she's had enough and she's leaving now.
  • The Flash Sentry Chronicles: Lightning Dust's attitude and disobedience but manages to stay calm. When Lightning asks why she should care she almost got Rainbow's friends killed because they aren't her friends, Rainbow finally snaps and slams into Lightning, pinning her down and screaming that caring about what happens to those around you is basic "ponanity".
  • Her Inner Demons: Sci-Twilight's transformation into Midnight Sparkle is revealed to be this: the bullying and mistreatment from her peers left her feeling enormous resentment toward them. The events of the Friendship Games was the last straw.
  • A Moon and World Apart: Throughout the story, since Luna and Celestia's reunion, Cadance has been doing her best to mediate between them, and ensure that Equestria and the Lunar Republic can make a peaceful alliance. But in chapter 21, when alarms start going off on the moon and Celestia decides to confiscate a letter aimed at Cadance herself, refusing to let Luna see it when the latter thinks it might be related to the alerts going off, Cadance finally blows her stack and starts angrily yelling at them in the Royal Canterlot Voice (noted as the first time she's used it since Celestia taught her how, outside of practice), especially Celestia for trying to keep her mail away from her.
  • In the Pony POV Series, Dark World!Derpy's life has basically been a living hell not including the last thousand years she's lived in a Dystopia. But she's still a cheerful ditz most of the time (despite being the new Element of Loyalty and one of the group's main fighters). Then the Valeyard decides to basically tap-dance on her Berserk Buttons as he tries to painfully kill the group. She finally takes her entire life out on him in a moment of Tranquil Fury, beating him to death after his regeneration template is destroyed, killing the Valeyard incarnation of the Doctor for good.

Naruto

  • Androgyninja's A Drop of Poison:
    • During her dinner at the Uchihas, Sakura hits one when Fugaku bluntly advises her to transfer out of Team Seven, causing her to go off on the clan head.
Sakura: You can keep your fake concern and shove it, because we both know the real reason you want me off that team, and it has nothing to do with my health.
Fugaku: I find your tone disrespectful—
Sakura: Well so do I! I find your tone, and your words, and your implications insulting. I am not shinobi-born, Uchiha, and where I was raised respect is earned, so it looks like you're all out of luck.
    • Ino hits hers at the start of her preliminary match with Sakura, and promptly targets several of her former friend's Berserk Buttons, hammering them until Sakura goes off as well.
    • After the attempted invasion, Sakura well and truly hits this point when Sasuke blithely blows off how he was supposed to help evacuate civilians during the attack. During the confrontation that follows, Naruto learns how Sakura was forced to kill several enemies and acts like she committed a Crime of Self-Defense, spurring her to turn on him and call him out on his naivete.
  • Naru-Hina Chronicles: When Naruto is finally told who his parents were, the suppressed anger at his childhood mistreatment boils over. It's enough to make him brush off Hinata in favor of lashing out at Kakashi. A round of intense taijutsu training helps him calm down.
  • In Nine Tailed Serpent, Hinata reaches her breaking point while fighting Neji. Rather than give up or fight a losing battle, she activates his seal.
Hinata: Enough! You forget your place slave. Cease your squawking and return to your cage!
  • The Somewhat Cracked Mind Of Uchiha Itachi: Played for Laughs. After one Tora mission too many, Sasuke snaps and sets the damn cat on fire. He heals it afterward, but this incident along with Naruto learning the Shadow Clone jutsu is what convinces Tora to stop running away so often. Itachi's reaction to all this is to get drunk and have his first-ever hangover, while his temporary replacement, best friend and cousin Shisui, names Sasuke as his new favorite cousin.
  • After Team 7 is eliminated from the Chunin Exams (due to Jiraiya interfering when they're attacked by Orochimaru) in Team 7's Ascension, Neji demands to know how their chips will be distributed now that a fourth of their alliance is out. Hinata throws all of the chips at him and yells that he's a miserable human being.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

  • A Crown of Stars: After the Third Impact Shinji and Asuka became the tools of the dictators running their world. Asuka was turned into a plaything for years, specifically. Shinji knew that the woman he loved was being hurt daily but he hated to kill and he was powerless to stop it, so he repressed his rage for several years. Then he heard one of them badmouthing her and threatening her and he wanted to kill him with his bare hands.
  • The Second Try: Shinji. Having been sent back in time, Shinji has been suppressing rage at his asshole father and SEELE for the stuff that went down in End of Evangelion. He also keeps calm even though he and Asuka resolved their issues, got married, and had a child after Third Impact but lost that when both went back in time. Shinji then watches Eva-02 (piloted by Asuka, again) blow up. Shinji becomes Death incarnate and mows down an army of Evas before almost causing Third Impact himself. He snaps out of it, barely, when Asuka finally draws his attention to the fact she bailed out in time.

Odd Squad

There's a brief Pet the Dog moment where Olympia and Otis arrive and oblige her by saying "Who's there?" after her initial "Knock knock", but it doesn't last for long, as Jamie then begins raging about how she forgot the entire setup of the joke, and by extension, her plan to attack the town. She eventually admits defeat and pulls a Screw This, I'm Outta Here.
  • Olive's Last Partner has Olive be close to unleashing her rage at Oscar when he explains what Blobisites do, but she doesn't actually blow her stack until the next chapter, where she lets Oscar know exactly how she feels about him hurting her over the many years they've known each other with a "The Reason You Suck" Speech.
Oscar: I don't have another gadget to help us. I wish I hadn't left my Freeze-Ray-inator back in the Lab. Maybe I could've frozen over the pipe to plug the opening in the pipe... (sighs) I wish-
Olive: (mocking Oscar) I wish, I wish, I wish! Let me tell you what I wish! I wish you had just let me go with Otto, and we would've been finished by now, not about to drown trapped in the basement! I wish Ms. O had never liked you enough to let you work in the Lab, and leave me to solve cases solo when I had only just joined the Squad! No, you know what I wish? I wish you had never been my partner!

One Piece

  • This Bites!: Deconstructed during the Enies Lobby arc. Sengoku finds himself increasingly enraged with every outrageous thing said/done on the SBS broadcast (which is transmitted to every Transponder Snail in the world), but his advanced age means he can't handle the stress. Just when it seems his temper has finally reached the boiling point, he collapses from a (non-fatal) heart attack and remains in poor health for months afterward.
    • Cross hits his terrifying peak when he reveals the truth of Queen Otohime’s murderbto Kuroobi and Chew and the effect they had on an entire generation of fishmen(albeit his emotions are getting amplified by Popora’s powers…). One-Punch Man

  • In Enemy Number One, Saitama is mostly just a little annoyed with the constant attacks by "weirdos" (Heroes from the Hero Association) and deals with them as they come. • In Act IV chapter 16, Rason hits his when he discovers that the Almighty and the other angels are fully aware of Hokuto's plan to revive Alucard, but cannot/will not do anything to stop him because having been born human, Hokuto is still considered sacred and untouchable to the angels until he actually dies with sin; the revelation that his Lord and fellow angels are essentially going to forsake all life on Earth because of their laws completely pushes Rason over the edge, to the extent that he explicitly calls out the Almighty Himself over his pro-human/anti-monster ways.
    • In Act IV chapter 28, Tsukune hits it once again with Hokuto; Hokuto had kidnapped and threatened his family, brainwashed Felucia, set Kuyou loose on Yokai Academy, and just stabbed Moka and thrown her off of his airship right in front of Tsukune himself, so Tsukune is understandably furious, even outright telling Hokuto after becoming a full-fledged vampire in chapter 31 that he will never forgive him before beating the ever-loving shit out of him.
