Laugh or scream. Either is fine by him.

In General

  • The first three episodes sees Haruka (Oni Sister) swearing fealty to who she thinks is Taro Momoi (and getting it right in the third episode) and getting kicked away so hard she's sent flying. For extra hilarity when combining with ther teammates into Don Onitaijin, she forms the right leg, which fans note is also the leg they used to kick her.
  • In the opening, you can see the Anoni scrambling away from Don Onitaijin in fear as the mecha grows giant. It's incredibly silly, particularly when a shot of the mecha's face is shown; from a high-rise office window!
  • Any time Don Momotaro lets out his signature Evil Laugh. The timing for when he lets it out is comedy gold.

Main series

    Don-Episode 1: Avataro
  • Taro's whole encounter with a down-on-his-luck law student.
    • The law student is clearly in a bad mood, but Taro doesn't take no for an answer (because he can't forge his signature) and forcibly takes his hand to sign the package in a haphazard way.
    • When the law student tells him to essentially piss off, Taro spews some old-fashioned advice at his expense. Then seeing the horrific state of his apartment, he takes it upon himself to clean the student's entire apartment in two seconds flat, writing a sign of "Victory!" to put on his forehead. This somehow works up the law student to get it together and start studying his butt off.
  • Haruka does an Electric Slide twice to who she thinks is Taro, having taken Jin's words of swearing loyalty to mean that she has to physically kneel before him and swear fealty.
    • The first time, she swears loyalty to Sonoi as she thought that he was Taro, based on the fact that he saved her last night. His response? Kick her right in the shoulder.
      • Even better: This scene was featured in the opening. So the very first shot we get of Oni Sister in the series proper is her getting kicked aside.
    • The second time, she swears loyalty to Tsuyoshi because of his "peach-colored" (pink) glasses, only for him to tell her that it's clearly the wrong time to do this before transforming.
  • Don Momotaro's Big Entrance includes a group of men carrying him and his Enya Rideon onto the battlefield while a group of woman dance in front of him, with him yelling out a bunch of philosophical phrases about bonds and whatnot. The sheer absurdity of this is enough to stun the entire battlefield for at least a few seconds.
  • In response to the above, Haruka turns to the camera and has to ask the audience that he can't possibly be Taro, despite of all the signs that directly connect the two.

Don-Episode 2: Big Peach, Small Peach
  • Tsuyoshi's Trauma Conga Line is played entirely for laughs here: he has his shoulder dislocated, his bike was stolen, he got made fun of at work, and was almost hit by a truck when walking with Miho. It's implied that his life was like this before he became Kiji Brother, only getting worse after getting chosen by Jin.
  • When Tsuyoshi was chosen, his sunglasses appear, and struggles to place itself onto his face before knocking his existing glasses away.
  • Despite Tsuyoshi's insistence that his shoulder is fine, Taro takes it upon himself to push his shoulder back. It somehow works.
  • An article of Haruka's plagiarism accusations has an Unflattering ID Photo of her at the top.
  • Taro's inability to lie gets fully shown off here.
    • A coworker of Taro's decides to play Rock–Paper–Scissors to get his side. Taro automatically tells his coworkers what he's going to put down before their game, instantly losing every single time. Sanae's reaction indicates that this is a regular occurrence.
    • Taro's coworkers decide to compliment Sanae when she's about to call him out, telling her that she's way younger than she looks. When she asks the question to Taro, he earnestly tells her that she looks exactly 68 years old. This becomes a Running Gag throughout the episode, so much so that it leads Sanae to becoming Ressha-Ki.
    • At the end of the episode, once Sanae stopped worrying about looking younger, she asks how old she looks. Taro naturally replies that she looks 68, to the bewilderment of his coworkers. However, he does tell Sanae that she looks much happier now than ever before, which makes his answer more Heartwarming.
  • Haruka decides to put on a pair of cartoony glasses, even when Kaito says that they're ridiculous. They manage to work for the most part until Shinichi figures out her identity... through the writing on her hand.
  • For viewers of Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger, it is rather amusing that Kaito has no idea of the phrase "Zenryoku Zenkai" when Haruka uses it on him.
  • Shinichi trying to pay for his drink with a haiku, which Kaito somehow accepts. Cue him giving a flowery haiku about spring wind after seeing a pinwheel, complete with a single tear running down his face.
  • Haruka somehow gets pushed hard enough by Sonoza to where she's floating in the air.
  • Tsuyoshi Avatar Changing into Ryusoul Pink makes him keep the skirt, to his confusion. He still manages to hold his own however and later on admits that it is not so bad.
  • The image of the tiny Don Momotaro Alter somehow beating up Sonoi and Sonoza must be seen to be believed.
  • When Taro returns to his body, he strangles Ressha-Ki with his legs... while also strangling Haruka.

    Don-Episode 3: Thief of Light
  • Shinichi's house apparently got hit with a localized earthquake when he was chosen to be Saru Brother.
  • It turns out that even Haruka’s own aunt, a detective, doesn’t believe her innocence (either that, or she does and is just messing with her).
  • Haruka faces a few misfortunes after deciding to tag along with Taro.
    • The both of them get ignored by woman for some reason, so Taro decides to move along. Haruka is utterly confused by this.
    • Haruka gets hit in the face with a door, no thanks to the resident's aggravation at how late they were.
    • She gets harassed by two older men, only getting saved with Taro's intervention. While the incident itself is not funny by any means, the way that Taro dispatches the men certainly is - he flicks a couple of peanuts right at their foreheads, somehow generating enough force to knock them out cold. Haruka doesn't see any of this, so she assumes that she actually knocked them out, thus assuming that Taro is just really weak. It doesn't help that he got punched in the face just beforehand.
  • Haruka's face after Shinichi ignores her question.
  • Taro decides to use the Don ToQ Momotaro Alter to go after Kurokuma's van. Cue Haruka naturally panicking at having to take over driving his van while he does this.
  • Even while skipping the palanquin, Taro manages to still make a Big Entrance by riding into battle with the EnyaRideon, crashing into all of the Anoni. Haruka asks why he even bothers with the palanquin in the first place, while the Anoni she's holding nods in agreement.
  • Shinichi does an Ass Kicks You to an Anōni to show off Saru Brother's bright red buttocks as a design reference to the Japanese macaque, the monkey species of his Animal Motif.
  • Shinichi assumes that Oni Sister is based on a rabbit in response to her assumption that Saru Brother is based on a gorilla. Haruka questions why he thinks that, all the while jumping like a rabbit.
  • When Haruka decides to swear fealty to Taro, he ends up kicking her in the side so hard, it sends her flying. He then goes on to fight his own teammates out of sheer frustration at Kurokuma's death. Haruka could only look at the audience in sheer exhaustion.
Oni Sister (slouching): Nope, I'm done.

    Don-Episode 4: Onigiri Oni
  • Haruka getting flung into a river after Taro kicks her through a dimension door.
  • Frustrated at Taro’s behaviour from the last episode, Haruka tries going to talk to him at Shirokuma Express… only to find that they’ve closed to investigate Kurokuma stealing their lights. The Shirokuma Express sign even tilts at her yelling.
  • Jin immediately kicks out Haruka from his digital prison after a few moments of silence. Haruka complains that he gave her nothing useful.
  • Taro suddenly going at lightning speed to clean the onigiri restaurant.
  • After doing Taro's exercises from earlier in the day, Tsuyoshi unfortunately faces some intense back pain, with Miho having to put on a pain patch.
  • Tsuyoshi immediately straightening his back after Miho tells him to, despite his back pain.
  • Haruka and Shinichi look more inconvenienced at the reveal of each other's identities, no doubt stemmed from their previous interaction in #2.

    Don-Episode 5: Holed Up Dog
  • The whole series of coincidences leading to the Hostage Situation is just full of this.
    • Tsubasa runs into Haruka at Shirokuma Express. In order to keep her from encountering the police pursuing him, he breaks into the store with her and pretends that he's fallen in love with her. She goes along with it is to use it as manga material, much to his bewilderment. This continues even when learning that the man who just "confessed" to her is a fugitive and that she essentially is in a hostage situation.
    • Tsuyoshi comes by wanting to thank Taro, but has a sudden Potty Emergency and barges in for the toilet when Haruka opens the door. He recognises Tsubasa after that and tries to report him to the police, but Haruka cuts him off at all his attempts. Having nowhere else to run, they bond over eating a loaf of bread.
    • Taro comes in to prepare Shirokuma for re-opening the next day, but finds that Tsubasa had stolen the bread from a parcel. Rather than bringing him to the police, he drags Tsubasa over to the recipient's home to apologise and forces him to clean her toilet to make up for it. The police then spot Tsubasa when Taro still brings him back to Shirokuma Express, intent on punishing him with more work.
    • Shinichi, in pursuit of Keisatsu-Ki, ends up encountering the police barricade at Shirokuma Express and attempts to assist the police with their demands, abeit unsuccessfully with random poetry. Having enough of this, Haruka comes out demanding for a Getaway Driver, giving Shinichi the opportunity to barge in and just muse at the apparent situation.
  • Unlike the Gokaigers, the Donbrothers are unable to transform into different colored rangers, causing Haruka to be left out of the Ryusoulger transformation.

    Don-Episode 6: Pheasant's Short-Lived Glory
  • Sonoza's attempts at laughing are absurdity in its purest form, especially with the camera zooming in on his laughs.
    • The results of him squishing his face with his hands are just as much of a Nightmare Face as they are absurd.
  • Jin is more helpful than usual, but still cuts the questions off by claiming that "visitation hours" are over and moodily hiding In the Hood.
  • Tsuyoshi's Imagine Spot about him and Taro's duel have him on the losing end all three times. While the first two are fairly plausible, being a sumo match and arm wrestling, the third one has Tsuyoshi losing to Taro in thumb wrestling. All the while, Tsuyoshi keeps on losing more articles of clothing.
  • When Taro goes into Don Momotaro's Alter Mode, everyone starts fusing over his seemingly lifeless body. Everyone but Tsubasa, whose idea of getting him to wake up is with a kick. Tsuyoshi tells him off like if he was an unruly child!

    Don-Episode 7: Herd Of Teachers
  • Haruka is now called "Plagiarist" by her classmates, much to her chagrin.
  • Haruka tries to imagine herself winning a manga award and gaining everyone's favor... only for her imagination to shift to her fighting off a Hitotsu-Ki, complete with her accomplishing a cartwheel to get away from the monster. Taro catches her just as he comes in.
  • Shinichi goes through the same Imagine Spot as Tsuyoshi last episode, complete with him losing more articles of clothing as Taro beats him.
  • Taro and Shinichi start battling with tongue twisters.
  • Sonoi mocks Sonoza's Annoying Laugh, politely.
Sonoi: Sonoza, I don't mind you learning to laugh, but you still have long way to go.
  • When Taro pushes Haruka out of the way, she ended up in a kneeling position like a petulant child in the background.
  • Taro opts to spank his teammates after he defeats Chikyuu-King.

    Don-Episode 8: Long-Haired Captive
  • When Haruka goes up to the long-haired artist, she politely asks him to stop drawing her... only to find out that he was actually drawing Kaito. When he starts raging that he can't find a good muse, Haruka asks him to draw her instead. He drops some cash and promptly leaves, leaving an awkward Haruka simply standing there.
  • When Sonoi makes his appearance, Haruka only yells "watch out" before getting pushed out of the way... again.

Don-Episode 9: Broken Taro And The Robotaro
  • Haruka reading True First Love Hero, the manga she supposedly plagiarized. When asked by her boss how it is, she replies that it sucks. She then turns her head and admits that it was actually pretty good.
  • Taro's parade looks more akin to a funeral service due to his exhaustion. Everything's in monochrome, the usually-lively music slows down and weakens, his throne is replaced by a futon, and his miko dancers look as though they'd rather be somewhere else (with one of them even looking at her phone), while the palanquin carriers look just as tired. When he goes out to battle, everyone quickly makes their exit.
  • With Taro rendered utterly useless after losing his powers, Shinichi is very tempted to challenge Taro to a duel and has the same Imagine Spot two episodes ago, except that he's the one delivering a Curb-Stomp Battle this time. He pushes the thought away after Haruka calls him out on it.
  • Once it turns out that the café also sells kibi dango as part of its secret menu, Haruka tries to search for other hidden items. Kaito stops her from seeing any of the other items by simply pushing the boards back every time she flips it over. For extra hilarity the item she nearly saw is Colorful's Colorful Sundae.
  • Tsuyoshi tries to tickle Sonoza into laughing. Sonoza doesn't buy it and instead asks him on how to cry. Tsuyoshi gets creeped out by this and promptly makes his exit.
  • Haruka screaming to the audience in utter confusion on what is happening, complete with multiple camera angles capturing her outburst.
  • Tokumei-Ki's method of attacking is no different from a child playing "Red Light, Green Light" or "Tag".
    • In the final fight against this Hitotsu-Ki, he summons a group of Anoni to play as well, and some of them comes out of doors still in casual attire.
    • In one of the "Red Light" moments, we are treated to a scene you'd only see in a cartoon: An Anoni has his hand on his head as if saying "Oh, Crap!", another is being held by Oni Sister in a chokehold, and there's one suspended in midair and ready to hammer down Don Momotaro.
      Tokumei-Ki: Staaaaare~
  • Tsuyoshi's concern the moment he's freed after Tokumei-Ki's defeat.

Don-Episode 10: The Rainbow the Oni Saw
  • Kaito smoothly avoids answering Haruka's question about Zenkaizer Black by poiting out that she has enough Kibi points now that she can retire from the team and get her life back, which she jumps at without a second thought.
    • Kaito's sudden delayed look of horror after he mentions this and Haruka immediately perks up, as if he was either expecting Haruka to refuse as a test of character and then suddenly noticed she wasn't falling for it or because he was just trying to deflect the question with something that would catch her interest and then realized too late that would mean Haruka would immediately jump at the chance.
  • The entire episode sees Haruka wearing a Fun T-Shirt that reads "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME", reflecting how she feels about everything through the episode (and the story in general).
  • Haruka becomes increasingly jealous of Marina because she is pretty, competent and not the Butt-Monkey of the team. She makes lunch for Taro and he enjoys it!
  • Haruka tackling Kaito to force him into putting her back on the team after her 10-Minute Retirement ends actually manages to knock him off his high horse for a moment.
  • After getting everything restored to normal, Haruka wakes up in the place where Marina was standing, announcing “Oni Sister, Haruka, is here!”. Taro, who has seen her just standing there the whole battle, immediately calls her out for it.
Taro: That's obvious! Why do you need to announce it?!

    Don-Episode 11: Dog's Disturbance
  • Kenji Sayama running after Tsubasa should be frightening, if he weren't hunched over and his running weren't sped up.
    • In addition Sayama leaping several feet in the air to flip over Tsubasa on the bike and cut off his escape seems to have been accomplished by launching a dummy in the air, making the whole scene look rather comically cheaply done.
  • Tsubasa hallucinating that Haruka is his beloved Natsumi, causing her to Bitch Slap him when he gets too close to her comfort. When Tsubasa realizes his mistake, he kicks Haruka away. Haruka, outraged by this, tries to attack him with a shake weight only to be stopped by Tsuyoshi.
  • Haruka, Shinichi and Tsuyoshi swapping between fighting against the Hitotsuki and taking care of Tsubasa while trying to maintain their Secret Identity.
  • Tsuyoshi went to the hospital after stepping on a caltrop Shuriken-Ki dropped and came back with medicine, which Haruka assumed would help Tsubasa and administered it right away. Tsubasa suddenly wakes up and darts to the toilet. Turns out that it was actually a laxative because Tsuyoshi himself has been feeling "blocked off" lately. Haruka calls him out for thinking of himself in this situation.
  • Haruka and Shinichi decided to go to battle while waiting for the stock for the rice porridge to cook. Cue Tsuyoshi being pulled into the battle while hopping on one leg from burning his leg with the boiling water.
    • And what follows? Saru Brother sending Kiji Brother flying into the Anoni, but not in the way he is used to.
Saru Brother: Now fly true, pheasant shuriken!
Saru Brother tosses a now spinning Kiji Brother.
Oni Sister: And fly he did.
    • Before then, a Haiku:
Saru Brother: A summer cold is / The Source of the sound, with your / Coughs in one-eight notes
Oni Sister: looks to the audience Cough! Cough!
    • While doing so, he immobilizes two Anoni and lays on them, and after the fact Oni Sister comes into view to do the fake coughs.
  • When Kiji Brother gets teleported into battle in the midst of praying for Tsubasa, he slips and goes on to praying for a salary raise before realizing it and correcting himself.
Kiji Brother: Please let Mr. Inuzuka get better! Please let Mr. Inuzuka get better! Please let me get a pay raise! Oh wait, no! I mean— Please let Mr. Inuzuka get better!
  • The seeming plot error of Haruka not knowing Kiji Brother was Tsuyoshi despite briefly meeting him in battle in the first episode is explained. He's so generic looking Haruka wasn't able to commit his face to memory, and her flashbacks to it show him with a Henohenomoheji for a face.

Don-Episode 12: The Moon is a Loony Liar
  • Cafe Donbura has a new employee: Kilala Kira, an idol wannabe who is a little over-the-top in her attempts, to the point Haruka can only think one thing: "ANTITHESIS!"
    • Kilala's cutesy act gets on Haruka's nerves so much that she bends a metal tray in half as if it were made of paper.
      Kaito: Haruka... the tray...
      Haruka: (menacingly) You say something?
      Kaito: ...No...
  • Tarou gets to taste Haruka's specialty: beef stroganoff and gives it a score... of 25.
Haruka: (takes the plate away) I shouldn't have bothered!
  • Kilala excuses herself from wearing Donbura's work uniform, claiming that the chest was too tight, angering Haruka when Kaito reveals that was her uniform and Kilala claims to be jealous of how "slim" she is. When Tarou works in Haruka's place, he meets Kilala and things get even worse from there:
Tarou: If you work here, why aren't you wearing the uniform?
Kira: Oh, the chest was just too tight!
Tarou: Then take those pads off.
Fan: What is he...? That's not—
Kira: (mentally) The irk of this man...
  • Shinichi, Tsuyoshi and Haruka confronts Tarou about his inability to lie after giving away to the police that Tsubasa just jumped the fence. And in the middle of the talk about him having to lie a little:
Haruka: There's such a thing as little white lies! I haven't been able to make beef stroganoff after what you said!
    Tarou: That's a good thing.
(Haruka takes a moment to realize what he just said, and almost hurls a plate at Tarou, only to be stopped by Tsuyoshi who calms her down)
    • His inability to lie is so strong, that even trying to say a small lie like "I am a woman" results in him collapsing and losing his pulse for a moment, driving the other three into a panic. Shinichi concludes that lying could actually kill Tarou.
  • Immediately after reviving, Kilala asks Taro what score he would give her performance. He goes up and bluntly states that she got a 25 in a heartbeat. Once again, Kilala gets immensely pissed off.
  • After transforming, Don Momotaro slaps Oni Sister's back and laughs.
  • Inu Brother gets teleported into the battle and barely dodges Oni Sister being thrown his way, resulting in this exchange:
    Oni Sister: Pupper!
Inu Brother: Barkbark! For the last time, I'm not a dog!
  • The combination into Don Onitaijin is a sack full of comedy that is opened this episode. It takes the Zenkaigers' combining to a whole new level. (For context, the final scene of it's combination sequence and it's first few scenes human sized have the thing sitting on a stool. It's first scene in the digital city battlefield? Using one of the existing buildings as a throne.
Oni Sister, Kiji Brother, Inu Brother, Saru Brother: What the fudge?!
    • Just everything every Donbrother says while being part of Don Onitaijin.
    • The fact a dedicated transformation step of Don Onitaijin is devoted to it gaining abs.
  • Uchuu-King pelvic thrusting right after transforming into his giant form.

    Don-Episode 13: Goodbye Taro
  • While the four Don Brothers that are acquainted discuss team strategy, the identity of Inu Brother is brought up as none of them knows who it is, with Haruka being suspicious it's an actual dog. And she's looking at a plush toy dog while saying that.
  • Sononi is at an aquarium restaurant and a guy comes to hit on her, only for her to knock him out with one punch without even looking. And the other guy at another table gives her a shocked look.
  • Taro's inability to lie also comes with the inability to give an honest praise (they didn't earn yet) to his companions, causing him to (briefly) drop dead as if he tried to lie. Unlike last episode, where the team was understandably panicked, they just shrug it off this time.
    • And in contrast to their panic last time this time they just shrug it off.
  • Zyuden-Ki dances to samba, and that extends to Zyuden-King, which really pisses off Oni Sister.

    Don-Episode 14: Substitute Jiro
  • As the Donbrothers battle the Noto generals, Jiro jumps into the fray by... throwing rocks at the Noto. Which does jack-all against their armored monster forms. Even Sonoza manages to genuinely laugh at that.
    • Just Jiro's heroic antics alone is something people poke fun about behind his back. Although they do admit they'll miss him back at his hometown.
  • While in Don Onitaijin, before they fight Kousoku-King, Saru Brother takes this time to deliver a haiku:
Saru Brother: I hear you say "hey" / And it's as if a rainbow / Shines from within you
Don Momotaro: What in the world...?

    Don-Episode 15: Welcome Back Taro
  • Tsubasa is still on the hunt for Natsumi when he runs into Tsuyoshi, with the ensuing conversation leading to Tsuyoshi offering his help to find Natsumi. As Tsubasa digs up an old photo, Tsuyoshi finally sees this Natsumi for the first time, and has a massive reaction... because of the filter that's rendered her unrecognizable anyway. Adding to the hilarity is that the filter is a dog filter.
Tsuyoshi: How am I supposed to tell what she looks like?!
  • Inu Brother is about to face off against Gekisou-Ki when Oni Sister and Saru Brother arrive. His response?
Inu Brother: I'll leave him to you; I've got somewhere to be! (runs off)
  • As Oni Sister and Saru Brother confront Gekisou-Ki, Jiro — this time with a giant boulder on a trolley in tow — jumps in once again and throws the boulder at Gekisou-Ki. The latter easily dodges it due to his Super-Speed, which results in Saru Brother being nailed in the head.
  • While heartwarming, Haruka tripping over a board and hugging Taro is actually pretty funny.

    Don-Episode 16: Darkness Switch
  • Jiro imitating everything Taro does, even down to the minute gestures such as checking his watch.
  • Jiro being awful at everything that the others are good at, much to the chagrin of Haruka, Shinichi and Tsuyoshi.
    • This gem when Jiro presents his manga to Haruka:
Jiro: You can plagiarize it, if you like.
      Haruka: REJECTED!!
  • When Tsuyoshi mentions he turned last episode because of Miho, Jiro - not letting him explain she's his wife and she was injured — suggests he break up with her, assuming that it was her fault. Tsuyoshi reacts predictably, but the hilarious part is Haruka hiding her face with the serving tray as Tsuyoshi processes what Jiro just said.
  • While Inu Brother is fighting, Jiro comes by and — mistaking him for a real dog — gives him dog food. Inu Brother actually eats it before realizing what he is doing. Before he can yell at Jiro, Jiro asks him to "shake" and Inu Brother actually responds like how a dog would at that command.
    • That makes the exchange between Oni Sister and Inu Brother back in episode 12 even funnier in hindsight, because it means he did act like a dog. It also means either Jiro came to the exact conclusion they did, or he asked about the last member earlier at the shop and their response was "No idea, he might seriously just be an actual dog" and Jiro believed them.

    Don-Episode 17: Light and Wings
  • Tsubasa declares to Sononi that he's not going to debate what love is, for fear of being embarrassed... and then proceeds to cheesily describe love as a guiding light for people to move forward.
    Sononi: ...And that wasn't embarrassing?
  • In order to help Tanabe reconcile with Kanako, Tsubasa dresses up as a monster. Jiro then comes across him, assumes he is up to no good and beats him down. He later runs off looking for Natsumi, while still pretending to be a monster, evoking all the expected reactions from passers-by.
    • Even better: his costume looks like a stock monster from the Showa era.
  • Turns out that the one who saved Kanako when Tanabe fled from the Hitotsu-ki back then was none other than Tsubasa, and that caused Kanako to fall in love for Tsubasa. She's so obsessed with that she decorated an entire room with his Wanted poster. Tsubasa naturally flips out over this several times over.
  • The above leads to the situation being switched in a comical fashion: Tanabe's Hitotsu-ki doesn't come out, but Kanako's does instead because she saw Tsubasa again and became even more obsessed with love only to be disappointed when he turns into Inu Brother.
    Inu Brother: What a twist!
  • Taro is teleported in the scene while being carried on the shoulders of Haruka and Shinichi, with a paper fan in his hand, as if he had been riding his palanquin. He even has a slight smirk on his face. Haruka and Shinichi instantly throw him off after the fact.
Shinichi: We are not your palanquin!
  • The bird-themed Monster of the Week has an exploding egg attack. It's initiated by spreading its legs as it flies overhead, so it's pretty clear the come from, well, just where you'd expect on an actual bird. Don Momotaro willingly takes the attack, plopping on his back as the explosion hits him.
  • After Avatar changing into Dragon Ranger, Jiro states that he feels like an older brother. Taro isn’t impressed.
Taro: What are you babbling about?
    • His irritability continues into the Don Onitaijin combination, wherein he tells everyone to stop talking for once.

    Don-Episode 18: A Jawsome Strike
  • While the other Donbrothers make their case against Jiro joining them, Haruka holds up the same dog plushie from #13 "representing" Inu Brother and pretends to speak for him, even doing a "woof". And then Kaito chips in with a "woof" of his own.
  • Taro challenges the other Donbrothers to land just one strike on him, with them doing a random penalty (sit-ups, squats, etc.) for every failed attempt. Naturally, hilarity ensues:
    • Jiro actually tries the "Look, a UFO!" trick, with predictable results (though Kaito falls for it). His penalty: 500 push-ups.
    • Tsuyoshi, knowing full well he doesn't stand a chance against Taro in a straight-up fight, decides instead to swipe a beansprout from Taro's ramen. His penalty for failing: 200 step-ups... which he proceeds to do right in the middle of the restaurant, to the other customers and staff's bewilderment.
Waiter: Sir, not on the chair...!
    • Tsuyoshi's Imagine Spot involves Taro laughing with him. Perhaps that is a good reason he doesn't laugh while untransformed.
    • Shinichi tries to snipe at Taro from the rooftop with a paintball gun, only for Taro to block and counter the shot with a pot lid, which is later revealed to have Shinichi's penalty (10 reps up and down the stairs) written on it with a marker.
    • Haruka actually has a thunderstorm brewing behind her and her hair flying wildly like some horror movie villain while plotting her own attempt.
Haruka: All of my comrades have fallen! I must avenge them!
    • Haruka's plan: give Taro a box contains a spring-loaded boxing glove that will activate when he opens it, disguised as "homemade cookies". At first, her plan goes off without a hitch, but when Taro mentions that the box was his "first earnest gift from a woman"; she tries to grab the box back out of guilt before it opens. Naturally, it opens right in her face, hitting her so hard she falls on her back. Her penalty: 100 sit-ups.
    • Out of options, everybody just decides to hit Taro head-on.
      • Jiro goes from the second story of the Shirokuma Express building, but Taro easily blocks him.
      • Haruka prepares to hit Taro with a squeaky hammer when he comes around the delivery car, only to accidentally bonk Sonoi on the head instead, much to her horror. While indignant, he decides not to murder her and no one even questions why he was in the car with Taro in the first place.
      • Tsuyoshi and Shinichi go at Taro with a couple of poles that they borrowed, only for Sonoi to tell Taro to duck while he easily slashes the poles with his sword.
    • When everyone decides to simply go to Jin for advice on this, he surprisingly gives it to them with no questions asked.
    • And the one who finally scores the strike at the end of the episode? An old woman Taro forcefully tried helping.
  • Haruka brings up that Gii-chan would be long dead by now to Taro, who is clearly distraught by the team's lie. Tsuyoshi instantly covers her mouth, Shinichi cringes, and Jiro nods his head in agreement.
  • Out of nowhere, Sonoi brings out that in the Noto world he is considered quite the fashionista, in response to Taro indirectly dismissing how he dresses when he was delivering a package. Taro looks subtly off-put by the random statement.

    Don-Episode 19: Hello Ghost
  • Haruka's lack of motivation to fight just because she got pulled into battle seconds before her snack. Her snack is later denied because Yuriko says it'd spoil her appetite for dinner.
  • Minako understandably creeps Haruka out, so she berates her in full view of Yuriko. Yuriko naturally ends up utterly baffled by what Haruka's doing, which makes Haruka question if anybody can see Minako. Haruka then notices that while she can see Minako on the couch, there's no one but Haruka reflected on the mirror. She does a Double Take only to see Minako nod excitedly as she thinks "A ghost?!" and does a typical ghost gesture with a horrified expression. Minako casually (and excitedly) delivering the info that she is a ghost and that she is aware of it creeps Haruka out even more.
  • Tsuyoshi realizes that by holding his breath that he could see Minako, and tells Shinichi to do the same. Tsuyoshi and Shinichi's shock when they see Minako appear in front of them is a little over the top, moreso for the latter. Not helping is Minako appearing in front of them with puffed cheeks every time they hold their breath.
  • Kaito is merely amused by the scene unfolding in front of the trio, casually revealing when Minako claims him as "Shinzo" that he could see her all this time.
  • Taro testing if Minako is indeed a ghost by shoving his hand in her ghostly body results in her having a rather tame yet amusing reaction:
Minako: Shinzo... You're such a perv!
  • Tsuyoshi finds a business card of Shinzo and screams in excitement, startling everyone in the office.
  • To try and help her move on, Taro, Kaito and Tsubasa took Minako on a date, but things didn't go well for some reason:
    • Taro's Serious Business attitude meant that he wouldn't stop to "waste time" appreciating the roses. After sharing thirty onigiri for lunch, he raises her desire to go "skydiving", so he took her for a flight across the sky in his Robotaro form, laughing all the way.
    • Tsubasa turns into Inu Brother just to appeal to Minako's fondness for dogs and pleads that she doesn't bring this up with the others. At this point, even if she did enjoy her time with them, Minako concludes that him and Taro are not normal people.
    • Apparently, she considers Kaito to be the worst. He comes on a motorcycle in an absolutely fabulous outfit and asks her for her hand. The problem is, he was so charming that all the girls around swoon over him instantly. When Minako tells that to Haruka she concludes:
Minako: He is 100% a cheater!!
      Haruka: (mentally) ...I got nothing.
  • Earlier in the episode, Hanamura has been messaging Haruka to talk about getting their relationship back, and that frustrates Haruka because he should call her instead. At the end, he sends her a series of messages, and she calls him in frustration to confront him about not calling him proper, only to realize it has been his mother sending her those messages and be justifiably shocked.

    Don-Episode 20: High Nose Elegy
  • The plot kicks off with Jiro thinking of Rumi, of how she might be crying because he's not there, only for two things to swing it into funny territory: it's him who cries every single time, and she is just casually enjoying a popsicle every single time (and thinking he is a dummy when he goes away). This goes all the way to when they were children.
  • When Taro leaves the Donbrothers, Jiro wastes no time in renaming the group to Dragon Fires, much to their disappointment.
  • During their roll call before the training, only Jiro is excited. Tsuyoshi is puzzled, Shinichi is mildly bored, and Haruka is flat out annoyed.
  • While training, things don't get much better as the team start running up the steps in the rain. Tsubasa joins them, but he fakes seeing a cop to flee the training unseen after realizing that it was too much for him.
  • Sonoi and Sononi are discussing what to do with Don Murasame, but are then approached with an offer for acting roles in the True First Love Hero, while Sonoza is way in the distance enjoying mangas a little too much.
  • When Sonoi is fighting Don Murasame, Sononi interrupts him to remind him that they have to go rehearse.
  • While waiting to receive an award, the Dragon Fires all sports noses long enough to rival Usopp’s. After Kaito tells them about their high noses and how Taro has been secretly helping them, the long noses instantly come off.
  • As the team help Taro, Kaito stays behind to take the glory for the Dragon Fires, long nose and all.
  • Haruka shouts in disbelief when she sees that Kaito received the award instead and is appearing in a trending photoshot magazine, causing everyone in the book store to jump in bewilderment.

Don-Episode 21: Extreme Way of the Ramen
  • The guys who captured Shinichi because they suspected he was Shirai used noodles to tie him up.
  • Kaito started selling his photobook in the Café Donbura, much to Haruka's disappointment.
Haruka: (thinking) Now he's selling them here...
  • After Sonoza kidnaps Haruka, he explains that after reading her manga it gave him a weird feeling of this activity in his chest.
    • Even funnier: Sonoza is so blinded by his desire to understand that feeling that he didn't notice Haruka is a Donbrother.
    • Sonoza's antics in general are this: he speaks in an agitated manner, gestures excitedly with his hands in the air, and bosses Haruka around.
    • Haruka's face of disbelief when Sonoza criticizes her like an editor would.
  • Saru Robotaro's transformation has a phase focus on his butt getting armored and bigger.

Don-Episode 22: Hellish Path of Manga
  • As part of her attempts to appease Sonoza, Haruka writes up several scenarios based on the people she knows:
    • First off is a High School AU where the main characters (who are all New Transfer Students) are analogues of Taro, Tsubasa, Tsuyoshi, Sonoi, and herself. The first three have their personalities switched around (the Taro analogue is a nerd, the Tsubasa analogue is a nervous wreck, and the Tsuyoshi analogue is a Hot-Blooded teacher) and the Sonoi analogue is The Charmer. All of them fall for the Haruka analogue (named Haruka Kanata) at the drop of a hat.
    • The next one is where it's revealed that Haruka Kanata is a Magical Girl whose alter ego is a mix of Oni Sister and Bishoujo Kamen Poitrine. The enemy she fights against is the Taro analogue who transforms into an Anoni with a cape.
    • The third attempt has Haruka use a joke that somebody else used earlier against Denji-Ki. Sonoda, the Sonoza analogue, then suddenly shows up (to which Sonoza questions if Sonoda is based on him) and Haruka Kanata beats the crap out of him. Haruka's Oh, Crap! at the realization that she let the earlier fight influence her manga is hilarious.
    • The fourth one has the Haruka and Sononi analogues as Magical Girls who transform through the power of dance. This one is the attempt that Sonoza actually likes.
    • Every single time Sonoza can't understand some of Haruka's ideas in the manga or when he's about to question her about them, his eyes darts around like he's reading something only he can see.
  • Tsuyoshi and Shinichi are against Jiro being a part of the Donbrothers because of his berserk Split Personality. Taro is for keeping him around because it will force them to stay alert. Shinichi contorts his face Haruka-style and his hands twitch as if he's fighting the urge to strangle Taro.
  • Due to their Ranger names having "Don" in it, Taro concludes that he and Jiro are from the Don Clan. Jiro further theorizes that he and Taro may be brothers, setting up a possible heartwarming moment... only for Taro to then dismiss that idea, much to Jiro's chagrin.
  • While tearing up one of Haruka's rejected drafts, Sonoza actually eats the paper.
  • The visual expression of Haruka's slump is her dressed up as one of Don Momotaro's dancers, excitedly dancing and repeating "slump".
  • Apparently simple jokes and haikus can appease Denji-Ki's desire for an "interesting" story, which Haruka promptly complains about.
    • The fact that Shinichi composed a haiku about brain freeze.

    Don-Episode 23: Inu, Become a Dog
  • The fact that even though it's clear as day that the Inu Brother form is not an actual dog, Tsubasa still gets treated as a dog somehow.
  • The ending. The Kijino couple stumbles upon the destroyed shrine and they repair it, praying at it which breaks the curse on Tsubasa. However, at this point, a girl had taken dog!Tsubasa in as a pet, and he transforms back to normal while he’s at his new dog house, collared and eating out of a dog bowl. The final shot of the episode is of Tsubasa and his so called owner looking at each other very awkwardly. And yet he soon continues to eat while the girl pets him.

Don-Episode 24: My Son, the Puppet
  • Haruka’s reaction to the fact that not only does Jiro have a Split Personality that they weren’t privy to, but that there are two other heroes they don’t know the identities of, one of whom hasn’t been seen in a while.
    Too many mysteries!
  • The idea to get around Taro's inability to lie was to do ventriloquism with a pair of earrings that acts as camera, microphone and speaker, which in itself presented two glaring flaws: mismatching voice (since Shinichi and Tsuyoshi speak for him) and the fact that the ventriloquists couldn't resist to interject in their own manners (such as Shinichi busting out a Haiku out of nowhere and Tsuyoshi mentioning Miho again).
  • Seeing Taro trying to act like Shinichi while the later busts out a Haiku through him? Funny. Seeing Shinichi's furious reaction when his school is mocked? Hysterical.
    • And Shinichi's bad mood continues well into the Ninja-Ki fight: when Jiro arrives to fight and regains control of himself to apologize for what his wild side did, Shinichi punishes him by turning into Saru Robotaro, punching Jiro in the gut and knocking him aside.
  • Haruka has a few too many facial overreactions to all the absurd going around, such as Taro implying he managed to understand how to play piano, or Shinich and Tsuyoshi inserting their own personality traits in the character Taro is trying to play, and her reactions range from an Aside Glance to a Goblin Face.
  • Haruka gets the great idea that to resolve the situation, she needs to go to where Taro and Tomoko are at and pretend to be his wife. Taro instantly dies once again, while Haruka chastises herself for forgetting about his condition.
    Haruka: We’re totally lovey-dovey, right?

    Don-Episode 25: Heroes at Work
  • The first scene has Tsuyoshi announce that he is changing, before ducking into a booth with the usual transformation voice playing… only to cut to him in workers’ overalls.
  • In his despair to get some money to maintain himself, Tsuyoshi suggests to Kaito that he deserves payment for his work as a Donbrother, but Kaito retorts that "superheroism is volunteer work". Later he asks Jin, only to be dismissed with his usual "visiting hours are over".
  • When the Donbrothers comes to confront Dai-Ki, who wants a "performance", Taro declares he will give him one and proceeds to go in dancing with two juggling pins while everyone goes in doing the opening dance, and when Dai-Ki flees, Shinichi strikes the same pose he does at the opening with a rather off-tone "Yeeeaaaah".
  • Tsuyoshi's Paper-Thin Disguise when Haruka and Taro shows up at where he works selling ramen constitutes of seaweed for fake brows, mustache and beard, and naruto for eyes. It’s so absurd that no one should fall for it, yet it works due to how exhausted they are from work.
  • Just how much does Taro rate Tsuyoshi's ramen? 32 points.
  • Turns out that Shinichi’s aversion to money is so strong it burns him to the touch. Later on he is seen selling haiku with oven mitts on.
  • Taro of all people misunderstands Tsuyoshi entirely, mistaking his problems with his wallet (futokoro) as "problems with his mother" (ofukuro), having a "pain in the neck and might not make it", and that he "is being bled dry". Never has this series suffered so much from Poor Communication Kills.
  • Both awesome, heartwarming and funny is that after all the misunderstanding, the Donbrothers help Tsuyoshi increase business the restaurant that was about to close from poor sales using their powers as Donbrothers, culminating with Taro bringing his palanquin and dancers into the restaurant to serve people and provide entertainment.
  • As Tsuyoshi and Yamada make up, Haruka’s narration brings up that Tsuyoshi was once a Hitotsuki like Yamada. Tsuyoshi argues back that the incident should’ve been forgotten, to which Haruka says that she doesn’t think people will forget it anytime soon.

    Don-Episode 26: Overstepping the Finale
  • Kaito's reasons for "ending Donbrothers" are rather absurd, like their fighting never ending or specially the fact that he just watched the last episode of Kamen Rider Revice.
  • Sonoi and Sonoza are casually enjoying a drink and a dessert at the Donbura Café, and just the sight of the two causes the Donbros to jump and demand to know their reasons to be there. Yet Kaito doesn't even flinch.
  • Although none of the Donbros won the MVP award, they are given a consolation prize: Kaito's second photoshoot book. Which they all return with the absurd pretenses that they got something to do or somewhere to be. But Tsuyoshi takes the cake for most absurd excuse because he claims he heard Miho calling him.
  • The ending has Sonoi grimly declare that he will defeat Don Momotaro... before proceeding to blow bubbles into his drink.

    Don-Episode 27: A Serious Showdown
  • Taro decides to go for a swim, and dives into the pool... only to immediately run into Sonoi. While underwater. The two even have a conversation while somehow understanding one another.
  • Sonoi waits for literally hours for Taro, only to find out that Taro is delivering packages. After the latter insists that he needs to deliver all of his packages before doing anything else, Sonoi relents and even offers to help.
  • When Sonoi and Taro are talking, the former makes a comment that they should fight without any regrets, comparing it to discarding the remains of a fruit just eaten. Taro points out that even if you throw away a fruit, the seeds remaining will just grow another fruit. Sonoi decides to compare their duel to throwing away a worn-out pair of shoes, which Taro seems to agree with. Sonoi makes a slightly confused expression and admits in his head that he much preferred the first comparison.

Don-Episode 28: The Secret of "The Secret"
  • Mizuho wants Tsubasa to teach her how to be a Phantom Thief, but he points out that she defeated the whole purpose by writing her real name on the calling card. Later on, after she steals the painting successfully, Mizuho leaves behind a calling card… with the name scribbled out.
  • As the bids climb higher and higher, Shinichi and Haruka worry that their budget won't be able to afford it, with Haruka calling Kaito for advice. On Kaito's suggestion, Haruka announces her next bid... in kibi-dango. The entire room (aside from the Pheasant Consultant duo, Mizuho, and Tsubasa) Face Faults.
  • Much like in #21, an exchange of items is stymied by the fact that both items in question are fakes (Mizuho using fake money to acquire "The Secret" at an auction, only to acquire a copy of the painting instead). What makes this funny, however, is that Sano, the owner of the painting, put up the copy of the painting for auction by accident instead of the real one.
  • Toradora Onitaijin's finisher involves it separating for it's components to perform a coordinated group attack. The second blow involves Saru Brother slamming his rear into the monster. What comes before him? Oni Sister doing the exact same thing.
  • At the end of the episode, Haruka brings Kaito a painting except it is not the painting he wanted, brut rather an off-model painting of Haruka blowing up a balloon made by Sano instead of Takeo. He immediately returns it to Haruka and hurries to the back of the cafe.

    Don-Episode 29: Mournings and Murasame
  • The mere thought that the Noto Council thought it was a good idea to hide the invitation for Taro in a packaged sandwich.
    • Once the Donbrothers tries to play back the invitation, it starts cutting off. The cause? Beef sauce damage.
    • During the funeral, Taro feels obligated to question what the Council was thinking when they sneaked the invitation in the sandwich. As compensation for making him lose his appetite, he forces the Council to eat the sandwich.
  • As Bakuryuu-Ki is rampaging around about people being slow, suddenly the Donbrothers appears around him and they all look startled simultaneously, with the Hitotsuki taking a few seconds to compose himself and start fighting back.
  • While being massaged in preparation for Sonoi's funeral, Taro complains that he likes it harder multiple times, until he pins the masseur down and shows how it is done, following with a laugh when the masseur taps out.
  • While fleeing from a feral Shinichi, Oni Sister yells out that she wishes she had wings.
  • Because his powers were stolen, Taro's Donblaster only puffs out smoke out when he tries to transform. He later picks up the Ninjarksword, which allows him to transform and, when it tells him to keep fighting, Taro simply tells it to mind its own business and tosses it aside. Kiji questions on whether that counts as littering.

    Don-Episode 31: Pupper Unmasked
  • Don Momotaro talks Inu Brother into meeting the team at Café Donbura after the then flawed Tensou-Ki fight. A child and a woman brings in three dogs, and Haruka gleefully mistakes them for Inu Brother. One of the dogs is even called Taro and appeared in earlier episodes, and Taro Momoi is rather surprised by this discovery.
  • There's something to be said about Tensou-Ki going around shouting about "diet" and "losing weight", specially when he prompts his victims about that.
Tensou-Ki: You... You wanna lose weight?!
  • Ryuji, after being mistaken as Inu Brother, assumes he has been scouted, thinking the Donbrothers are a band. And when Haruka introduces herself as the Oni, he imagines her as a metal rockstar, a "demon on stage".
  • Tensou-Ki's host eats easily over twenty large bowls of Katsudon, and he was merely cutting back on his diet a little.
  • Ryuji accepts Tsubasa's offer to meet with the team in his place, and Ryuji does go there, but showing a more edgy lone-wolf persona for them, which manages to please Haruka, Tsuyoshi and Shinichi, who mimics some of the hammy lines he spouted but with their original twists.
  • Tsuyoshi kept going at Miho's salon and saying "I like you" to her until she accepted. But what sells it is the disembodied cheering when he celebrates it excitedly.
  • Miho interrupts the would-be duel between Ryuji and Tsuyoshi by declaring she's already married and gesturing Tsuyoshi to lay his head on her lap for her to clean his ear. In the middle of the park.
  • Not only does Shoko look nothing like Miho, she's mixed-race and has very sharp features compared to the average Japanese woman so Ryuji mixing them up at all makes him look like either an idiot or extremely face blind.

    Don-Episode 32: Showdown Part 2
  • The entire episode doesn't even try to hide the fact it's copying off the "A Serious Showdown" episode, which was only five episodes ago. Yes, this means that Minoru Ohno returns again.
  • Sononi asks Sonoza how many times he has been reading First Love Hero, and he responds this is the 83rd time.
  • Just as with his duel with Sonoi, Taro fails to show up to his with Sononi and Sonoza due to his job, which leads the two to confront him. Sononi actually uses the same line as Sonoi did, which causes Taro to realize that this situation seems oddly familiar. Sure enough, upon turning around he sees Sononi and Sonoza donning Shirokuma caps and offering to assist him.
  • Speaking of Sonoi, just seeing the formerly quiet fighter revived using Don Momotaro's behavior is a real gem to behold. He even copies Tarou's Evil Laugh the exact same way with very silly expressions.

    Don-Episode 33: The Wasshoi Bird
  • Kaito using his Geartlinger in an operating room and Zenkaizer Black in a surgeon's outfit. Clearly, the Karizakis have rubbed off on him despite being long off the airwaves.
    • The surgery room where Kaito performs surgery is also property of the Café Donbura. When he says the Café Donbura is well equipped, he means it.
    • Already fitted as a surgeon, Kaito doesn't pass up the chance to quote the greatest Toei surgeon, albeit with his own spin on it:
Kaito: There is nothing I cannot do.
    • There's also Kaito serving drinks as Zenkaizer Black while using the Geartlinger as a beverage pitcher. He also takes the cartoonish route of putting a funnel in Taro's mouth and dumping the cups' contents down the hatch.
  • Sonoi taking leadership of the Donbrothers in Taro's stead shouldn't be funny, but the fact he writes "Noto" on Shinichi, Haruka and Tsuyoshi's foreheads is rather amusing. At the end, Haruka and Shinichi are busy trying to clean their foreheads.
  • Tsuyoshi turned into Taiyou-Ki is a riot due to how about 85% of his dialogue is "Miho!" or "Miho-chan!". But a couple of them stands out more than usual:
    • When he goes screaming "Miho-chan!" before taking a portal door out the Café Donbura, he stops midspeech, sizes up Taro, and books it through the nearest portal door.
    • The first things he says to the Anoni coming to his aid is "Miho-ch—You are not Miho-chan."
  • We get multiple shots of GolDon Momotaro... and the last one before he starts to attack is one of his back before Oni Sister barges in and begins her question rant.
  • After defeating Taiyouki, the Donbrothers present group together, with Saru Brother feeling GolDon Momotaro's cape.

    Don-Episode 34: Natsumi Meets Me
  • Turns out Shinichi and Haruka still have "Noto" on their foreheads, which they try to cover up with oversized bandages, while Tsuyoshi apparently managed to get it off. Tsuyoshi then proceeds to flash what may be the smarmiest grin ever at them.
  • Sonoi finally gets to have oden... and it's apparently so good that he reverts back to his original personality. And also the fact that despite the oden apparently being that good, Taro only gives it a 32 out of 100. This leads to the owner becoming a Hitotsu-Ki, and Haruka even lampshades that this is all Taro's fault.
    • The oden being good is what makes him shed a single tear with Taro's essences and help Taro realize what is going on, then Taro suggests he has a taste of mustard, which causes even more tears from the heat and spiciness, and clears him up.
  • When the three way battle Donbrothers VS Noto Generals VS Tokusou-Ki happens, Kiji Brother tries to swoop at Sononi, but she swipes at him and he splats against the building in the back before fluttering aside like a paper bag to the wind.
  • The first thing Kiji Brother and Saru Brother do after combining? Complain that they can't see anything due to the Omikoshi Phoenix's wings blocking their view.
  • Tokusou-King goes on all fours and attempts to pee on GolDon Onitaijin's right leg, to Oni Sister's horror. Inu Brother, however, isn't having any of it and kicks Tokusou-King away.
Inu Brother: Quit being more doggish than me!
  • Due to being absent from the conflict in the previous episode, Tsubasa is completely confused as to why Don Momotaro is suddenly golden.
  • Behind the Scenes pictures shows the faces of Sononi and Sonoza after having a taste of mustard. They didn't enjoy it.

Don-Episode 35: The Song of Origami
  • Tsuyoshi, in a dark mood from the previous episode's events, noisily stirs his iced coffee, to Taro's irritation.
  • When Tsuyoshi snaps at Taro, Haruka, and Shinichi, with Shinichi getting the most complaints, to which he lampshades while counting in his fingers.
Shinichi: (thinking) Once again... The most complaints were aimed at me.
  • Tsubasa prepares food for Jin and delivers to him, lampshading that he expected Jin to say his usual catchphrase and dismiss him. Jin visibly gets upsets and does exactly that until Tsubasa apologizes.
    • Shortly after the above, Jin brings up his crime: raising Momotaro. That prompts Tsubasa to remember all the times Taro randomly would attack them while saying they weren't good enough at the beginning of the show and coldly remark he did a bad job raising him.
  • Jirou tries to join the fight despite his injuries, but Rumi prevents him from joining by hugging him. He's then so overwhelmed by her scent that he passes out.
  • During the repeat of "Kenji Sayama"'s incident in the ramen store, the chef feels obligated to say "Not this again!" before getting his face dunked into a bowl just like that time.

    Don-Episode 36: Dog Versus Dog
  • "Tsubasa" finds the food in the restaurant he raided to be bad, which he takes the time to raid the kitchen and cook better dishes.
    • Just the sight of "Tsubasa" trying to force feed his meal to the other Donbrothers.
  • Once again, Haruka does not seem to notice that "Natsumi" isn't human even when Natsumi is confronted by the Noto and then leaps into the sky.
  • While Don Momotaro is fighting the two Juutos, Sonoza runs over to assist him instead of Sonoi. Sonoza then takes out a note (apparently written by Sonoi) and starts reading out the lines... only to immediately ruins the dramatic effect because he can't read some of the words, which causes Tarou to lean over his shoulders in confusion and Sonoi to bang his head to the ground of the nearest rooftop in frustration.
  • The Donbrothers finally do a Roll Call...That's quickly derailed by "Tsubasa" trying to attack them, to the point that the logo glitches out.

    Don-Episode 37: I, Ni, Za and Shi
  • When the Donbrothers (minus Tsubasa, as always) are eating at the oden stall, the Nouto trio also come in and reveal that they've apparently become regulars. Sonoi smirks at Tarou as though trying to one-up him. Tarou then makes a snarky remark, which causes Sonoi to use Sononi, Sonoza, and Haruka as his messengers in telling Tarou not to get cocky. But the message distorts into Sonoi paying for all the food there. Cue Sonoi banging his hands on the table in frustration, and we can see Sonoza in the background asking if it was his fault, and Sononi pinching his cheek as though to say "yes, it is".
  • Sonoshi turns out to be quite the Neat Freak, as their first appearance has them wearing a mask as though to not have to smell the food at the oden stall, remarking that it's not worthy to be put into their mouth, and their next appearances have them use a fire extinguisher on the Donbura cafe and other bystanders, just to "clean" them. The face of utter shock and confusion Kaito has when he comes out of the back rooms of Cafe Donbura and sees everyone covered in white dust seals the deal.
  • Inu Brother mistakes the Noto trio appearing shortly after Sonoshi as trouble and is about to get at them too, but Don Momotaro simply grabs him by the head then kicks him so hard that he disappears until way later in the episode. Viewers joked that he was still flying off until then.
  • During the cleaning of Cafe Donbura, Sonoza grabs the mop off Haruka and does an air guitar chord for no reason.
  • Shinichi points out about Haruka and Tarou's closeness to Sonoza and Sonoi respectively, and then remarks that it might be nice if he also makes a bond with Sononi, unaware that she's already bonded with Tsubasa. As such, when he tries to give her a slice of cake to flirt with her, she promptly shoves it at his face. Haruka and Sonoza even say that he deserves it.
  • During the Team Power Walk for their confrontation, everyone is calm and composed. But Haruka's thought is nothing of short of her excitedly exclaiming "It's time!!!", as if she waited this long for a rollcall.

    Don-Episode 38: Gobbledygook Cooking
  • Tsubasa becomes a wanted man again thanks to his Juuto's doings.
  • How does Tsubasa try to one-up a chef? A mental cook-off where the two rapidly exchange words on how to cook carbonara and Neapolitan pasta. Most of the team have a deadpan Jaw Drop to all of this, while Taro has an eyebrow quirked with an equally deadpan expression.
  • While cooking, Tsubasa reveals that his father was a cook and also an innocent man on the run. Haruka's immediate thought is that "it runs in the family".
  • In order to pay for the extravagant dinner, Tsuyoshi is seen hurrily cleaning the floor of the restaurant to pay for it.
  • Tsuyoshi, Shinichi and Sonoi transforming to fight for the world's best eggs.
  • Jiro being a massive dork when seeing Rumi off and even following the bus, to the point her inner monologue and disinterested face basically scream "Enough already."
  • Haruka, Ja-Ki, Sonoi and Taro getting the floating feeling from eating the various cuisines in the episode. What makes it doubly hilarious is that Sonoi and Taro somehow got it.

    Don-Episode 39: A Lucky Push of a Button
  • The very reason Kaito is out of Café Donbura is because somehow his previous two photobooks sold well and they are making a third.
  • Haruka finds a safe, they use her, Shinichi and Tsuyoshi's birthday as combination to unlock it, and Jiro pushes the obvious "bad news" button labelled with "DANGER! DO NOT PRESS!". Couldn't they bite a more obvious Schmuck Bait? Oh wait, Jiro does back at his hometown, by finding an exactly similar switch and pressing the button without a second thought.
  • Before being mashed about by Don Killer, Tsubasa turns to see Don Killer behind him, exchanging glares before the later grins and he vents out his frustration at being caught.
  • While Don Killer is The Dreaded, he also creates a good amount of Black Comedy. Examples of this include slapping Sonoza and Metronomic Man Mashing Tsubasa, Tsuyoshi, and Shinichi in that order.
  • One of the things that immediately bothers Taro and the Donbrothers is the resemblance Don Killer and Don-Killer Killer have to Taro and Shinichi respectively, although they came to the obvious conclusion: it's aesthetics.
    • The fact that the Don Clan decided to make a second Killer Robot to kill off the first Killer Robot if the latter went rogue and literally named it 'Don Killer Killer.'

    Don-Episode 40: Dangerous Love Wagon
  • Haruka's driving skills goes from a terrible amateur known as "instructor killer" to Speed Demon to professional at Car Fu in the span of one episode. Although the whole ordeal took day after day after day after day after day after day.
    • Haruka's face once she went full Speed Demon could be described as someone reaching their climax and still going.
  • Don Murasame chasing after Tsubasa and Sononi is portrayed very tensely up until Haruka abruptly runs Murasame over while driving.
  • The episode closes with Haruka promising to take the others for a ride in a very beat up car. And when they refuse, she chases after them by reversing after them.
    • Heck, the fact that we're seeing Taro of all people beating a hasty retreat is amusing to consider, especially given how he treated his teammates at the start of the series.
    • As she's reversing, the trunk door bounces open, looking like a maw that is about to devour our three scrambling companions.

Don-Episode 41: Serving the Santa Clause
  • The Noto trio actively asking about Santa (also seeing Sononi wearing a fake beard).
  • Sonoza complaining that Sonoi and Sononi's smiles are too seductive.

    Don-Episode 42: Don-Lifting Family
  • Every single time Taro hiccups, he looks hilariously embarrassed and confused.
  • The entire fake-family scheme in the episode, whose members and their roles include:
    • Shinichi, the central character here, who manages to fail a haiku and only be slightly disappointed.
    • Haruka as his young "sister" dressing in colorful clothes and being an energetic teenager.
    • Tsuyoshi acting as both the "father" AND "mother" of the family, although he spends most of his screentime as the second.
    • Tsubasa, as Haruka's "boyfriend" and being a rather poor actor for once.
    • Jiro, as Haruka's other "boyfriend" who claims to be rivals with Tsubasa but actually gets along with him.
    • Taro, as Shinichi's "older brother", who has a severe case of the hiccups.
  • Tsutomu Kameda, the con artist posing as a priest, tries to persuade each member of the "Saruhara family" to relinquish a valuable item to "appease the vengeful spirits", and it fails with hilarious outcomes:
    • Haruka is haunted by her pet cat — dubbed "Stroganoff" — whom she claims resents her because she once put a sock on its head.
    • Tsuyoshi by the spirit of someone he loves, but Tsuyoshi being Tsuyoshi blurts out Miho's name and throws a tantrum over them getting her involved. Haruka handwaves that as Miho being her late "sister", causing another upset complaint from Tsuyoshi.
    • Tsubasa being haunted by the spirit of a dog made him think of that as both a Stealth Insult and an allusion to the time he DID get haunted by a dog and it wasn't exactly a fun experience.
    • Poor Jiro gets deliberately ignored by the con artist.
    • Shinichi is being haunted by a scarecrow of all things, which prompts him to pantomime one perfectly, much to his chagrin and Haruka's amusement.
    • Taro's sheer "I don't care, I'll live with it, it's a part of me after all" makes the con artist reel back speechless.
  • Come the night, the con artist attempts to rob the house, only to witness Tsuyoshi talking with Miho through the phone and assume he can talk with the dead, Tsubasa having fallen asleep drunk over oolong tea, Haruka turning into a "monster" (Oni Sister), Dangerous!Jiro threatening him when he bumps into him, and Taro briefly dying from trying to say he is the older brother.

    Don-Episode 43: A Time-travelling Mystery Unravelled
  • Haruka being able to recognize Naoki Shiina from Tsubasa's drawing, despite Tsubasa... not being the best artist.
    • Tsuyoshi is later seen coloring in the drawing.
  • The Running Gag of Jiro giving Haruka an encouraging thumbs-up, only to get shot down every time.
  • Haruka and Shinichi's alternate future selves are... not what anyone expected.
    • Future!Shinichi is loaded, is actually able to touch money without getting burned, and composes tanka instead of haiku, much to Shinichi's consternation.
    • Haruka has a hilariously hard time taking in that Naoki Shiina is none other than her future self, and that she got together with Future!Shinichi. The second revelation elicits a childish taunt while the two are drawing.
    • One would expect them to be in the present because something terrible happened in the future, but no: Future!Haruka was merely taking a vacation using her Kibi Points and Future!Shinichi came to bring her back.
    • First thing Future!Haruka does when she sees Taro is slug him in the face, and he doesn't budge an inch. In fact, her reaction amuses him. She was gonna do it again if Future!Shinichi didn't stop her.
  • Tsubasa, once again, has to "be the animal", this time dressing up in the bunny costume to allow Future!Haruka to flee from Future!Murasame.
    • And then Sononi takes over because she was upset with him not hunting the Jūto, and when she has had enough of running away the next time she sees Tsubasa she decides to fight him instead, out of spite for the rough day she had.
  • There is something funny to be said that Haruka supposedly plagiarized Naoki Shiina, when in truth it was her future self all along. Doesn't help that Future!Haruka forgot to clear up the whole plagiarism allegation.

Don-Episode 44: White Revealed, Black Revealed
  • Choudenshi-Ki bear hugs Taro and asks him for praise, to which Taro simply compliments his strength, causing the monster to let go, satisfied and embarrassed, at which point Taro just slashes him away. Now think back on how Taro used to struggle to come with honest compliments.
  • Haruka's delayed reaction to realizing Tsubasa is Inubrother had her taking until she's sleeping to finally absorb it all, and she took it rather poorly at that.

    Don-Episode 45: Kakamura, or Gagamura
  • Haruka is completely at loss by the whole talk of Miho and Natsumi, to the point the screen is full of question marks.
  • The Nōto Trio are ill-prepared with elevators in Japan when they find out how many people are going in.
  • Taro slams a fridge door on Inu Brother, trapping him inside, just because he could.
    • Terasaki interrupts their argument by asking if they are thieves, to which both of them stare back and give frantic headshakes in denial.
  • A short running gag this episode is Tsubasa refusing to be ordered... Until Taro rephrases his request with a question and Tsubasa begrudingly complies.
  • Tsuyoshi posting missing persons posters of his wife? Not funny. Him plastering the posters on every available surface like a notecard on a corkboard, on the other hand...
    • One of the first things he says while running away as Hyakuju-Ki: "So many Mihos!"
  • Hyakuju-Ki's rampage draws in Oni Sister and Saru Brother, with the former recognizing the Hitotsu-Ki to be Tsuyoshi and the latter being quick to point out that what happens twice can happen thrice.
    • Tsuyoshi getting humiliated by King-Ohja disguised as Don Onitaijin. If that wasn't enough, he gets manhandled by Sonoshi's gang in a 3-on-1 mugging before getting captured by them, made even funnier when Sonoroku sends him flying with his mace. And considering Tsuyoshi's antics regarding his possessiveness towards Miho, you can't help but enjoy his misery as he really had it coming.
  • Sonogo's introduction involves her shoving an admirer's face into a plate of pasta. At least he found it to be delicious.

    Don-Episode 46: A Natsumi Night's Dream
  • The now-outcast Noto Trio wants to show their true sincerity to the Donbrothers as a sign that they want to form an alliance. However:
    • Sononi attempts to use her seduction tactics to talk Shinichi into teaching her haiku, he speaks one line and immediately cuts there, realizing he was almost tricked. Yes, this is the same Shinichi who tried to woo her.
    • Next is Kaito saying the true form of sincerity is money, bringing up a Japanese hand sign for money before he was urged to lower his hand. This coming from the same Kaito that at the series' start accepted a haiku as a form of payment.
  • While mulling over the option of using money as a sign of sincerity, Sononi suggests using the allowances granted to them... except that she spent all of hers on beauty products, Sonoza on rare manga, and Sonoi on oden.
  • After GolDon Momotaro intimidates the cat Juto into staying in the forest, we are treated to the Juto making possibly the hastiest retreat in Sentai history ever.

    Don-Episode 47: The Don-No Conference
  • Before the conference can formally start, Kaito proceeds to take their orders, but Sonoza demands to know who Kaito is:
Sonoza: (speaking into the mic) I wanna say something first. I've been wondering this for a long time... Who exactly are you?
(The noto trio fixates on Kaito)
Sonoi: (thinking) Nicely done, Sonoza. This man is definitely something special.
    Kaito: I am...
(Now the Donbrothers fixates on Kaito as well)
    Kaito: Something special.
(Both sides have reactions ranging from unfazed [Taro], to Head Desk [almost everyone on the large table], to Face Fault [Tsubasa])
  • With everyone confirming that his beloved Miho is actually a Juto, Tsuyoshi promptly has an Imagine Spot of him marrying one and about to kiss. The image causes him to faint out of sheer revulsion, to Haruka, Sonoza, and Sononi's amusement.
  • As Sonoshi devours the entire set while going on a human-abducting spree, Sonogo and Sonoroku look on in exasperation, glad that they don't have to interact outside of work... and then Sonogo proceeds to do the same during her human-abducting spree, with the other two giving the exact same reaction.
    • Later on, an annoyed Sonoshi et al arrive at Café Donbura, complaining about the original Trio and Donbrothers not showing up to fight despite Sonoshi and Sonogo making the effort to draw them out. Sonoroku then proceeds to look straight into the camera and point out how he wouldn't go that far, complete with Laugh Track.
  • After learning how Tsubasa used his Kibi points to revive her, Sononi tries to blow him a thank you kiss... who rejects it because he's taken and still mad at her.
  • When Jin joins the conference, he does a double take when he realizes Kaito is the one serving them drinks and snacks, before bowing to him and calling him "True Hero" for everyone's confusion.
    • There's also the fact he loves his Pu'er tea with a LOT of sugar cubes, to the point Shinichi, Haruka and Tsubasa are baffled.
  • Both teams end up in a tie at 4-4 after voting whenever the Ex-Noto trio join the team or not, so how is it solved? Have Sonoshi et al join in the voting in favor of their deserters joining the Don Brothers, turning it into 7-4.
  • Kaito being utterly confused at how the place became deserted.
  • Jin points out that the Donbrothers group despite being based on the story of Momotaro contains a member based on the Oni, who were the enemies in the story. While he points out it was to represent the idea of being open minded and willing to accept enemies into their ranks, Haruka's initial horrified reaction is assuming that means she's obligated to become the "last boss" of the story.

    Don-Episode 48: The 9 Donbros
  • Sonoza asks Kaito on how he can pay his bill if he is broke, and Kaito's idea is to immediately put him to work in the café. Little wonder Sonoi and Sononi are in stunned silence the moment they see him.
    • When serving Shinichi his parfait, Sonoza deliberately drops it on his lap.
  • Sonoroku's idea of rampaging is "helping" people get rid of things. Read: sending it straight into the nearest Ideon door.
    • Of course, Sonoshi and Sonogo points out how terrible of a helper he is and that they would hate to be anywhere near him if they weren't a team.
  • It's revealed that Sonoi has started working as an oden seller, only to get Sonoshi and his crew as customers. He promptly puts on a disguise... which falls apart rather quickly due to the Overseers' insults, which earns him a fire extinguisher blown in his face courtesy of Sonoshi.
  • Sonoi takes every opportunity to refer to the rival group as Sonoshigoroku, which genuinely irritates them.
  • The new trio decide to attack Sonoi while he's the last one standing against the current Hitotsuki... which would've worked had they not chosen to do so blindfolded. Cue Sonoi slipping past the three stumbling idiots and rescuing his trapped teammates.
  • Yet again we have policemen after Tsubasa's hide, and he doesn't even know why. Cue yet another chase and him finally realizing what Kaito meant with misfortune.

    Don-Episode 49: Last Memories
  • During the team's sound off during training, Tsuyoshi starts crying when he sees the tan line from his wedding ring and Sononi tries to get next to Tsubasa to no avail.
  • As if to rub the salt in the wounds of the Overseers, Taro, Sonoi, and Jiro decide to finish them off blindfolded when the three couldn’t do it last episode.
  • The Overseers' latest plan to defeat the Donbrothers? Track down Minoru Ohno and turn him into a Hitotsu-ki. Things... don't go as planned.
    • Mrs. Ohno's reaction to Minoru turning into a Hitotsu-ki again.
    • The fact that Minoru — due to his multiple Hitotsu-ki possessions — is now pretty much famous among Noto circles.
  • Their plan having backfired on them, the Overseers have little choice but to ask the Donbrothers for help. This includes cheerily welcoming them as they visit the oden stand (red carpet and all), serving as their waiters and acting chummy, which disturbs the Donbrothers.
  • Minoru orders five fish cakes, throws them around, and it boomerangs back to him, which he eats accompanied with comical mouth stretching and a cartoony bite sound.
  • The stall owner being baffled at the crew leaving him behind.
  • During Taro's birthday (which Kaito claims to have gotten the date wrong somehow), they ask him if he figured out what happiness is and Haruka guesses it is being with all of them. While he admits having figured happiness, he vehemently denies that it is being with them and promptly dies. Kijino checks his pulse and smiles widely that Taro died, much to everyone's excitement, and while Haruka IS excited, she stops for a moment to think if this is really a good ending.
    • Tsubasa is the only one among the group to show concern over Taro's apparent death as he likely isn't aware of the repercussions that comes with Taro lying.

Don-Episode Final: We Have Made True Bonds
  • Sonoshi ruining a wedding with his fire extinguisher.

Movies and Specials

Donbrothers Meets Den-O: Aim for it! The Don-O
  • General:
    • Just the sheer Refuge in Audacity in revolving the shorts around Momotaros's Trademark Favorite Food.
    • Momotaros and Don Momotaro making their grand entrances, hanging out with the monster, destroying him not long afterwards, and bantering afterwards.
    • The fact that Momotaros of all people is beaten in the Ham-to-Ham Combat sessions.

    Donbrothers Meets Senpaiger
  • In Donbrothers Meets Senpaiger, Don Momotaro shows off several Avatar Changes of Red Rangers along with Zenkaizer. One of them is Red Buster and unfortunately for Taro, he briefly gets Hiromu's chicken weakness as he freezes up when he sees a chicken on the magnetic compass.

Avataro Sentai Donbrothers: True First Love Hero
  • The whole premise of the movie is this. A movie adaptation of True First Love Hero (the manga that Haruka supposedly plagiarized) is being produced and the producer wants the Donbrothers and Noto to star in it. Naturally, the quirks of both groups get in the way of production.
  • How do the Donbrothers end their role call session? Posing overtop an image of Don Onitaijin... Which would be Awesome if not for how hilariously the image is stylized.
  • The trailers alone are filled with this.
  • The director's sense of realism is that everything should be as awkward and over-the-top as possible, giving the lead roles to Haruka and Taro after Sonoi and Sononi's professional acting displeased him.
  • Once given the acting role, Haruka hastily gets into it and starts applying makeup, then comments how after the 30s you can't be a hero anymore, with a metaphorical bullet heading to Shinichi before he calmly redirects it to Tsuyoshi.
  • The plot of the movie in the movie quickly devolves into a zombie apocalypse with Sonoza as the first zombie, Taro (as Hiiro) turning into an actual super hero, a white horse-headed prince (who turns out to be Tsubasa, who once again complains about being the animal), then Taro dying during in a love confession he had to ad-lib, followed by the zombies crucifying Haruka as a bait to draw out the Hero, and lastly everyone trying to hijack the hero role. And the director liked every moment while the producer looked so done.
    • At various points through the movie, everyone stops what they are doing so Haruka can explain how she got in this situation.
  • Haruka has been dreaming that she was receiving a New Actress Award, when in truth she was sleeping on her seat before the test screening.
  • As expected, the test screening is a flop, the movie was canceled, but at least Naoki Shiina liked it! Of course she would like, since she is Future!Haruka.

    Avataro Sentai Donbrothers VS Zenkaiger
  • The entire roll call being interrupted.
  • After being revived, Taro makes his entrance by popping out of his coffin.
  • At the end, when the others agree to return to being Donbrothers, Taro says they need to be subjected to training again. The film then ends with Taro attacking his teammates.
  • While Isao returning as Hakaizer is undoubtedly awesome, how he transforms is a sight to behold; rather than a physical gun-like Transformation Trinket like the others, he mimes it with a Finger Gun... and it WORKS.

    Avataro Sentai Donbrothers vs Donburis
  • The reveal that the love letter was for Don!Kaito... from Don!Stacey. Haruka for her part is disappointed the letter wasn't for her after all.

Meta

  • The press conference was filled with these moments.
    • The press conference showed not one, but two fakeout trailers (with punny names to boot) before premiering the actual trailer. The first one centers around the "Avataro Sentai Donburis", with the team parodying their roll call with various donburis. The second had the Noto introduce themselves as the "Avataro Sentai Donfragrance", with the trio spraying perfume to hammer the point home.
    • The casts actually came out as the "Donburis" and "Donfragrances" before the "messenger" had to rectify what was happening with his messages. You could even hear one of the Noto cast members cracking up at his sudden appearance.
    • The messenger who's been sending out and constantly apologising for the wrong title notices was eventually revealed to be Guest Star Kiita Komagine (Kaito Goshikida), who reveals his role as an alternate Kaito/Zenkaizer Black in this series. Despite dropping the messenger disguise, he's still giving last-minute notices to the host, including one last wrong title at the end of the press conference claiming the actual title of the show was "Avataro Sentai Dondancers".
  • The announcement of the "Don-Chan" variety spin-off on the Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club brought a lot of laughs when it was revealed that first episode actually had the cast make donburis, all the while repeating the "Avataro Sentai Donburis" gag.
  • The official Super Sentai TikTok seems to be more focused on the cast's tomfoolery doing various trends and other random videos than actual promotion of the show. Judging by the views and likes, it seems to be working to their favor.
  • When you have THE classic Yandere-powered Slasher Smile from a Toshiki Inoue series, Kouhei Murakami himself, and then combine him with this year's model with Hirofumi Suzuki, you get double the terror!
