    Plots about Luz
  • It's also surprisingly common to find plots about Luz dying. Expect angst from the surviving characters in mourning, usually especially Amity. However, not all fans have the heart to make it permanent.
  • Luz being Eda's daughter, biological or otherwise, and growing up on the Boiling Isles as a normal witch. In either case, Camila is usually also a witch who's married to Eda, and Luz is either the product of her first marriage or was conceived through Homosexual Reproduction. If Camila isn't around, it's usually that she either died before the story or is simply Adapted Out.
    • Stories where Luz is Eda's biological daughter will often include Luz inheriting Eda's curse and upon learning that Lilith cursed Eda, the latter cuts ties with the former for causing Luz to suffer as she did.
    • Many stories that don't have the above happen will have Lilith think this is the case through various misunderstandings.
  • Stories about Luz's life back on Earth that cover Luz's school life, usually depicted as Luz being bullied by her peers and rejected and/or humiliated by a crush. This, in turn, causes Luz to have some self-esteem issues. Thus, fics like these tend to be angsty.
    • In some of these fics, Luz gets Forced Out of the Closet by either a classmate or one of her crushes, which causes her to be bullied even more.
  • A number of fanworks exist exploring the idea of Luz being possessed by the Collector, whether unwillingly or as part of a Heroic Sacrifice to stop Belos. This concept draws from the theory that such a thing would happen in the show, due to a half-portrait teaser of the Collector's true form drawn by Dana Terrace prior to "King's Tide" bearing a notable resemblance to Luz. Though "King's Tide" ultimately Jossed this concept in canon, some fanfics still continue to utilize it.
  • Fics where Luz regains her half-Titan form from the finale are becoming increasingly common. Usually, she'll be afraid at first, but will quickly come around. Amity will also find it very attractive. However, there are some fics that take it more seriously..

    Luz's Family
  • There are many stories about Camila ending up on the Boiling Isles either sometime after Luz does or at the same time as her. In those stories, she stays in the Demon Realm (or at least visits frequently) so she can look after Luz, and often develops a relationship with Eda in the process.
    • These may come with a side of Luz's father, an Abusive Parent who either left or was thrown out by Camila for hurting Luz, showing up and being none too pleased at being replaced and taking his anger out on either Camila or Luz.
  • In the wake of the first season finale, many fanfics have popped up that run with the idea of Emperor Belos being Luz's father. How serious these fics take the concept run the gamut from earnestly exploring the possibility to making as much fun of it as possible, but either way, it is common for these stories to reveal that he's actually been Good All Along, or at least an unknowing/reluctant pawn of a greater threat, so Luz feels comfortable bonding with him. These fics also began the fanon that his first name is Alexander.
  • Stories where an abusive family member manages to take Luz away from Camila, either legally after the events of canon make Camila look like a bad mother or by kidnapping her, are starting to see some degree of use. Luz undergoes a severe Break the Cutie and when her Boiling Isle allies find out, they are pissed.
  • Several stories have Camila getting harshly called out by one or more of Luz's True Companions due to sending Luz to Reality Check Camp, either because they misinterpret her reason as "wanting to get rid of Luz's creativity" rather than "curbing her more destructive tendencies while helping her meet kids more like her" or the fic depicts the camp as being home to Cure Your Gays abuse and they discover this fact before Camila does, assuming Camila wanted Luz to suffer said treatment. If it's the latter, this ultimately leads to Both Sides Have a Point; Camila should have made sure the camp was safe for Luz before sending her but she did have Luz's best interests at heart.
    • These fics latter got compounded by the reveal of "Creepy Luz" in the latter half of season one, with the Isles gang additionally calling her out for not being able to realize she's been living with a shapeshifter. These fics usually have them as being more in the wrong, as it is acknowledged that Camila had no reason to suspect that such a switch was even possible let alone happening under her nose and "creepy Luz" is a very good actor.
    • Post-"Yesterday's Lie", this can now come in the variation that when Luz's True Companions find out about the forced Reunion Vow, they assume Camila did it out of spite (this usually is Amity's opinion in this scenario, though King, Willow and Gus can share it) or out of misguided "care" (Eda's opinion, with her comparing Camila to pre-Character Development Gwendolyn), ironically imitating Camila in refusing to let Luz explain the actual situation before making their decision and sticking to it despite Luz's attempts to tell them the truth.
  • Fics where Camila suddenly gets all of the texts and videos Luz sent her between "Young Blood, Old Souls" and "Yesterday's Lie" have popped up. These fics are usually one-shots, due to the simplicity of the concept, and are almost always angst.
  • For much of the show, details of Luz's father were incredibly scarce beyond him obviously being absent. As a result the man became something of a modular being, whose role differed depending on the interest of the fanfic or story. Divorced, just having been there for a single night with Camila, dead, abusive and driven out of the home, Belos, some other character frequently from the other side of a crossover, alive but busy, there was no solid fanon on the guy outside of explaining why he isn't at home often. The general use of him was either to create a Freudian Excuse for some of Luz and/or Camila's quirks such as Luz's fondness for escapist fantasies, be a source of additional angst, or allow Luz to access a power from another franchise in a crossover by inheriting said power from him. It would eventually be clarified that Mr. Noceda is dead and has been since Luz was young, though it is still up in the air how much of an impact his absence has on the two Nocedas specifically outside of the specific day of his passing.

    Plots about Amity
  • One of the most popular ones early on about Amity was that she's adopted, as it would explain both her appearance (having brown hair as a child, but obviously dyed green hair as a teenager), and why her parents put so much pressure on her to succeed. Plus, it matched with the song "Little Miss Perfect", which became the character's unofficial theme song within the fandom. These fics died out after the creator jossed it, confirming that Amity is a Generation Xerox of her mother, who makes her dye her hair so she'll match her siblings.
    • After that, a new subset of stories started springing up that had Amity being the product of an affair between Odalia and someone else, and from there, another subset of stories started to develop that have Amity being abandoned by her mother and adopted by Eda. On the flipside are stories where, despite the physical similarities to her mother, Amity is actually the result of her father having an affair, with Odalia being a resentful guardian who forces Amity to meet impossibly high standards to punish her for Alador's sins; this can also come in the flavor of "someone took advantage of Alador in a way that resulted in Amity's birth", with Odalia's resentful guardian coming from her resenting Amity for representing someone hurting her husband.
  • There are many stories where Amity's parents learn about her crush on Luz by either reading her diary or finding her Gromposal note and kick her out of the house when she refuses to accept the idea of not being allowed to like girls and/or humans. These stories often have Amity being beaten as she's thrown out or running away and end up with her seeking sanctuary at the Owl House. Funny enough, Alador actually raises no issues with Amity dating Luz, expressing nothing more than an initial surprise when he learns about it (while referring to Luz as Eda's girl) and then not pressing the matter further. Likewise, Odalia has no problem with Amity having a girlfriend, she just has a problem with Amity having Luz as a girlfriend.
  • Since Amity had no involvement in the last two episodes of the first season thanks to being stuck at home with a broken leg, it's common to see stories where she gets to be involved and join Luz and King on their mission to rescue Eda, in turn forcing Amity to definitively cut ties with Lilith and the Emperor's Coven and stick with Luz and her friends.
  • In stories taking place in the future, Amity is often depicted as either having stopped dying her hair and going back her natural brown or only having green tips. Of course, then Amity in canon chose to dye her hair an entirely new color (purple) instead.
  • Since "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door", fans have been coming up with short comics and scenarios on how Hooty kidnapped Amity and put her in an owl pellet.
  • Stories that retells the events of Lost in Language will always change the events of the diary incident so that Amity is made aware of Luz defending her from her siblings' attempt at exposing her entries to the public rather than her believing that Luz is on board with them due to a misunderstanding.

    Plots about Lumity
  • In general, Luz is often written as being far less Oblivious to Love than she is in the show and the only reason the two of them aren't together yet is that neither one works up the nerve to tell the other how they feel. There later turns out to be retroactive canon basis for this, as following "Escaping Expulsion" this becomes Luz's attitude towards Amity up until they hook up in "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door".
  • Luz and Amity meeting each other earlier than in the show and making a better first impression on each other, thus allowing for their relationship to develop faster.
  • Amity will end up on Earth for one reason or another and have Luz to either interact with if it's temporary or guide her through her new life if it's permanent.
    • If this type of story is after the end of summer, Amity is usually on Earth so Luz can show her her home and introduce her mom to her girlfriend.
  • There are several of these for Grom, all of which lead to a Relationship Upgrade:
    • Amity stays as Grom Queen, leading to Grom revealing her crush on Luz and Luz saying she would have gone with Amity if she had just asked her;
    • Luz picks up the piece of Amity's note that just has her name on it. This has Luz thinking that Amity's afraid of her, which forces Amity to come out with the truth about how she feels;
    • After Grom is defeated, Luz and Amity either have a Convenient Slow Dance that leads to a Big Damn Kiss or one of them confesses to the other as they're going home;
    • Either in the immediate aftermath of Grom or in the days following, Luz tries to figure out who Amity wanted to ask out, completely unaware that it was her.
  • As mentioned above, a common Fandom-Specific Plot for Amity has her parents being homophobes who learn about her crush on Luz by either reading her diary or finding her Gromposal note and kick her out of the house. These stories often have Amity being beaten as she's thrown out or running away and end up with her seeking sanctuary at the Owl House, and from there, the two end up admitting their feelings to each other. This take predates the Word of God of the Boiling Isles being a Non-Heteronormative Society and still persists after it, though not to the same extent. Indeed, Odalia does object to Luz dating her daughter, but only because she's a wanted criminal and not because she's a girl.
  • Human AUs often recreate Luz and Amity's dynamic by making Luz a weird social outcast and Amity a brilliant popular girl and/or jock of some sort.
  • In stories where Luz ends up on the Boiling Isles at a young age, she often befriends Amity, thus leading to a Childhood Friend Romance between the two. Willow may or may not end up included in the romance but is almost certainly a friend to both.
  • Many fics make use of Luz and Amity's early development designs as the looks they adopt as older teens. Though it's just as, if not more common, for the designs to be used in AUs where the two are fully recharacterized to be older teens who are more assertive and engage in Snark-to-Snark Combat, leading to a Slap-Slap-Kiss-type romance between the two.
    • A variant on the above is people making these "beta" versions of Luz and Amity into their older sisters. Beta Luz will usually be named Victoria, Lucera, or Lucia, while Beta Amity is more consistently named Amelia, and the Slap-Slap-Kiss dynamic between them will usually result in them hating the idea of their younger sisters getting together. Beta Willow is more rarely used in this role, but does appear occasionally.
  • Angsty fanfics about Amity developing Hanahaki Disease because of Luz's obliviousness and of her feelings possibly being unrequited is really starting to rise up in popularity.
  • Fics about Luz and Amity having their secret Azura book club at Amity's hideout at the library are common.
  • Stories where someone works out Amity's feelings for Luz before Luz herself does and hurts Luz to hurt Amity or abducts her to blackmail Amity have started to pop up.
  • Often in sharp contrast to their parents, Emira and Edric are often shown to be complete Shippers On Deck for the couple. Gus and Willow are as well.
  • While rare, there are stories that choose to pull a Deconstruction on the pairing, generally by having the first meeting between Luz and Amity, where the latter had the former nearly dissected to prove a point, not be Easily Forgiven by Luz and in fact make them start the relationship in the wrong foot.
  • An Angst prompt which has seemingly spiked in popularity following "King's Tide" involves Luz being fully petrified by Belos, with Amity breaking down upon finding her girlfriend and often vowing to seek revenge.
  • It’s pretty common in fics and fanarts set in the future for Luz and Amity to have a daughter via Homosexual Reproduction named Azura.

    Others & Miscellaneous
  • One popular story idea is "The Raven House", in which Lilith is the cursed witch wanted all across the Boiling Isles known as the Raven Lady, Amity is the human girl trying to learn magic, and Luz is the young witch she competes with. These stories tend to keep everyone's personalities largely the same as in the show, although Amity is occasionally depicted with Luz's more upbeat personality.
    • A variant on the above has a witchling Luz being Eda's apprentice and daughter, either adopted if it's just her, or step-daughter if Camila is also in the story.
    • In most of these stories, the reason that Amity ends up in the Boiling Isles was because she was running away from home and Lilith's palisman stole something from her bag when she wasn't looking.
  • The aforementioned original concept art versions of the characters (nicknamed "Beta" characters) are often used for Darker and Edgier stories, especially after Dana posted this on twitter.
    • In line with the above artwork, Beta!Luz is frequently depicted with a bat covered with miscellaneous runes as her weapon of choice.
    • Beta!Luz and Beta!Amity are occasionally portrayed as elder sisters to Luz and Amity respectively, while still holding a torch for the other.
    • Another popular concept is to have the characters from the Beta or Pilot concepts, and/or several other AUs coexist in a multiverse, and have them interact with each other through interdimensional travel. Having Luz in particular interact with all her versions a la Into the Spider-Verse is a common feature. This multiverse can also include crossovers with other properties, especially Amphibia and Gravity Falls.
    • Characters without a Beta counterpart (such as Gus) will frequently be redesigned and characterized to fit in the motif of the characters with Beta designs.
  • One common type of AU essentially reverses the premise by having Luz be a witch who ends up on Earth for one reason or another and has to deal with human versions of Eda, Amity, etc.
  • Before canon revealed the true purpose of the Day of Unity, there were many fanfics who adopted the idea that it was Belos' plan to create a Merged Reality between the human and demon realms for some unknown goal.
  • Crossovers with Little Witch Academia are common, due to both shows having a very similar premise (a Muggle with brown hair attends a school for witches and has endless romantic subtext with a green-haired witch prodigy). These stories often has Luna Nova be another school on the Boiling Isles, and Luz and Akko bond over their similar struggles with magic. Wether Akko is a witch or another human in these stories vary, as do the age difference; Either sticking with the idea that the green, blue and red teams are close in age to Luz and her friends (canonically, the teen cast of Little Witch Academia are two years older than Luz), or going with the idea that Akko & co are an older generation, already adults by the time Luz ends up on the boiling isles.
  • Stories where Lilith acts like a mother to Amity, and occasionally Edric and Emira, are very common, even though Word of God states that Lilith and Amity were never close.
  • Thanks to their implied cameo in "Young Blood, Old Souls", there are many stories that run with the idea that Eda, Lilith, and Amity's parents, Alador and Odalia, all knew each other during their time at Hexside, with Lilith often being depicted as having an Unrequited Love towards Odalia.
    • There is also a sizable amount of fanart pairing Eda with Odalia.
  • Post-season one finale, fanfics and fanarts about Lilith moving into the Owl House after betraying Belos became very popular. More angst-y takes on the concept will depict some lingering tension between Lilith and Luz/Eda/both over the former's actions during season one. This does happen in canon, though Lilith consistently gets along well.
  • A common subject for fanart is to create a theoretical cursed Owl Beast form for Lilith (sometimes called a "Raven Beast"). This became even more popular following "Young Blood, Old Souls" where Lilith took on part of Eda's curse, which led to stories and fanart about Lilith transforming into her cursed form for the first time. This eventually happens in season 2.
  • AUs where Lilith and Eda reconciled before adulthood, often through Lilith confessing to cursing Eda and why and Eda being angry at her but eventually forgiving her, see some popularity. These stories tend to feature Lilith as Luz's cool honorary aunt who secretly acts as Eda's inside woman in the Emperor's Coven.
  • A recurring plot is Camila receiving a call from Reality Check Camp that Luz never showed up before Luz has a chance to text her, resulting in her filing a missing person's report and getting the police to try and find her. This gets jossed in season two, where it's revealed in addition to Vee swapping places with Luz almost immediately, Camila decided to drive her daughter to camp herself at the last minute, meaning that this was never an issue.
  • In Crossover Fanfics, a detective-like character from another story ends up picking up the case for one reason or another and goes to the Boiling Isles to bring Luz back home.
  • In stories where Luz does end up going to Reality Check Camp, it'll be revealed that the camp is actually a front for something magical.
    • If Reality Check Camp isn't supernatural, it'll be revealed, either through Luz going there or Camila hearing something on the news, that the camp engages in conversion therapy, with Camila feeling terrible about what she subjected her daughter to (and in stories where Luz never went there, being relieved that Luz escaped).
    • Not overwhelmingly popular but there are some stories where Luz ends up at Reality Check Camp, finds it to be toxic and somehow finds her way to the Boiling Isles, where she throws herself into magic training even harder to move past her trauma; Eda and her friends are generally murderously angry when they find out what Luz went through before coming to the Isles.
  • There are many stories that depict Boscha as The Atoner trying to make amends with Willow for bullying her for so many years, usually ending with the two becoming a couple.
    • The show's subreddit has seen some backlash to this, resulting in a number of fanarts and fanfics depicting Boscha as an egomaniacal-if-clueless Determinator Hopeless Suitor to Willow, who clearly doesn't return the sentiments and shuts any attempts at flirting or relationship building down hard. Frequently Played for Laughs.
    • Then after some backlash to the backlash, a third variant emerged that mixes the two ideas together by having Willow and Boscha be dating, but sees Willow often teasing and poking fun at Boscha (typically in a lighthearted way) as a kind of karmic payback for her past bullying.
  • Human AUs where everyone resides on Earth and there's no magic are very common.
    • Eda is still Luz's mentor figure and runs a local store. Prior to the introduction of her canonical lover Raine, she often doubled as Camila's girlfriend or wife as well. Usually, Eda will have some kind of disease of disability that she jokingly refers to as "the curse".
    • During the show's first season, these fics would depict King as a pet dog or cat. After Season 2A recontextualized his relationship with Eda, it became more common to have him as her son instead.
    • Willow and Gus maintain their status as Luz's equally nerdy friends. Likewise, Amity starts out as an Academic Alpha Bitch and/or jock, while Boscha and her friends are the school bullies whom Amity feels obligated to hang out with.
    • After their formal introductions in Season 2, it's common for Vee and Hunter to show up in these fics as Luz's siblings: the former as her more reserved twin sister, and the later as their older brother (who may or may not be adopted). It has even become common to see this dynamic in other AU fics as well; in which case these characters are either made to be human like Luz, or they retain their original backstories, having somehow ended up on Earth and getting adopted by Camila years prior to the first episode.
  • An Instagram post from Dana Terrace states that Edric and Emira were stood up at Grom, and while it was never stated who stood them up, it's common for people to act like they were stood up by Jerbo and Viney, respectively. With the latter, it's common for fanart and fanfics to have Viney stand up Emira by accident because she was having problems with Puddles and for the two to have a private dance sometime after Grom.
    • Branching off of that, in fanfics, Emira and Viney are often written as an Official Couple who have been together for a while, usually to have their relationship serve as a Foil to Luz and Amity's.
  • The idea of Viney/Emira hitting a road block when Viney overhears Emira's "friends" badmouthing her and takes it to heart because Emira insists on keeping their relationship quiet (usually either to protect Viney or because she's relishing having something that's just hers, rather than shared with Edric) sees decent use.
  • Arranged Marriage AUs pop up and come in a couple of flavors though one of the most popular ones is that Amity, for whatever reason, discovers her parents plan to force her into a marriage; ironically this can involve her being forcibly engaged to Boscha, with the problem with her crush on Luz not being that Luz is female but that Luz isn't a witch (how sympathetic Boscha is varies).
  • In stories where Amity gets kicked out, it's somewhat popular to have Emira be forced to choose between her parents' approval and her love for Edric, as with Amity out of the picture, he becomes the new unfavored child; angsty stories have her pick her parents, driving Edric to run to the Owl House and leaving their relationship in disarray for a long time, possibly even forever if the author wants to really break hearts, while more optimistic ones have her pick him and flee Blight Manor.
  • For a while, some fans wrote AUs for "Escaping Expulsion" where Luz's deal with the Blight parents involved her agreeing (sometimes unknowingly) to be their Sex Slave for a set amount of time; Break the Cutie sets in quickly and all of Luz's friends and the Owl House residents are pissed once the truth comes out, with some stories involving Alador and Odalia being murdered over it and most of them involving Amity and the twins disowning their parents in absolute disgust.
  • AUs that use various fictional rivalries such as Fur Against Fang or "Human vs. magical creatures" see good popularity and commonly place the Blight siblings on the opposite side of the divide as Luz, Viney and Jerbo to create a Star-Crossed Lovers scenario.
  • "Emperor's Coven!Emira still loves Rebel!Viney" stories are well-liked and commonly come with a side of "Emperor's Coven!Amity still loves Rebel!Luz" and "Emira was forced into the Emperor's Coven by her parents, wrecking her relationship with both her twin and the girl she loves" (if Amity was forced into the Emperor's Coven instead of running, her relationship with Luz was similarly damaged).
  • In fanworks, Emperor Belos is almost always approving of Luz and Amity's budding relationship. This is especially common in stories where he's Luz's father. Canon would imply that he wouldn't seeing as he killed his own brother for romancing a witch.
  • More of a fandom specific non-plot, but most fanfics tend to have King Demoted to Extra compared to canon. While King is never missing entirely and rarely (if ever) bashed, with the focus being on any of the above mentioned plots, he tends to get forgotten. He is mostly used for comic relief when he does appear, and AUs without magic generally replace him with a non-speaking animal version of himself over making him human. After the reveal in "Echoes of the Past" that Eda took King in as a baby and basically raised him like an adopted son after discovering he's sapient, there have been calls in the fandom to respect this by making him human in non-magic AUs more often. King getting himself legally adopted by Eda and taking on the Clawthorne name four episodes later in "Eda's Requiem" will more than likely strengthen the shift in tone.
  • With The Reveal that "creepy Luz" has replaced the real Luz in the human world, fans are already planning their own renditions of Camila's reactions to this development; they tend to be pretty angsty, with her feeling like she's a failure as a parent.
    • Post-"Yesterday's Lie", it's becoming popular to do a story where Camila A) finds out just how bad Luz's school life is (usually after having Vee attend school as Luz to cover up Luz's continued absence only to suffer all of the Kids Are Cruel and Adults Are Useless Luz experienced but kept a secret) or B) finally receives all of Luz's videos and sees both that Luz was trying desperately to make it home with Camila as the sole reason she wanted to come back and just what Luz would be leaving behind if she returned to Earth and stayed there; in either case, she suffers a severe My God, What Have I Done? because now she realizes just what kind of Sadistic Choice she forced on Luz too late to fix it.
    • If the reason for the discovery is option A, Camila goes full-on Mama Bear on the useless school staff, especially if they blame Luz for her suffering; typically the end result of this is Luz no longer being a student at the school and Camila setting up homeschooling via some kind of virtual learning for when Luz returns (and for Vee to take advantage of in the meantime).
  • A more comedic plot is to have Belos' reason for wanting the portal be something comically mundane, like wanting to buy ice cream or hairspray from the human realm because it's not available in the Boiling Isles.
  • Boscha is a Flat Character and a sociopathic bully in canon, but there's a decent set of stories that give her more depth.
    • A particular subset is the redemption stories, where Boscha, either through her own or by external factors, comes to realize what a jerk she's been and decides to work on herself. Willow (or to a lesser extent, Skara) being her romantic interest is optional.
    • Some stories also give Boscha the backstory of having been a bully victim herself back when she was younger, until she adopted her harsher persona in order to make everybody fear her.
    • As a popular type of Fanon, there are many stories that tackle the idea that Boscha might be a Witch-Demon hybrid, and the complications about it.
  • Since the forced friendship between Amity, Boscha, and Skara is mostly kept on the background, fans like to write stories that put particular focus on this relationship, whether it's an angst fest where everybody is miserable, or a fluff fest where they get along just fine.
    • Out of the three, Boscha and Skara will be invariably shown to have been the closest to each other rather than Amity. Whether they develop into a Childhood Friend Romance or not depends on the story.
  • Since Amity's comment about Skara being mean doesn't hold up with what we see of her, several stories tackled this issue, either making this an example of Amity jumping into conclusions, or revealing Skara to be a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing who's good at acting like a Nice Girl.
    • There's also the flavor of "Skara is mean but innocently so in contrast to Boscha's For the Evulz" or "Skara makes a Heel–Face Turn"; naturally both of these can be combined having an Innocently Insensitive Skara come to realize how much harm she's been causing and being distraught and eager to make up for it.
    • Additionally, there's the option of expanding on why Skara's friends with Boscha; usually it's because despite knowing Boscha is Hated by All, Skara believes if she doesn't have her by her side, she'll do some serious damage. This is proven true due to Boscha exposing one of Amity's secrets (often her crush) to Luz to create drama between them, causing Skara to end their friendship which plays a key reason for Boscha's redemption stories.
    • After the epilogue showed Boscha as one of the guests of Luz's "King-Ceanera", some Boscha stories show her gradually making amends with Luz and her friends before the events of the epilogue.
  • A minor Story Arc; if a fic wants to expand on the multi-track system, expect either Amity or Skara (or both) to be one of those students. Amity will often take up healing (due to having an empathic nature on top of it being an Actor Allusion to Mae Whitman's role as Katara) or become an all-track student alongside Luz and Skara will have beastkeeping (due to being interested in it, but the reason may vary).
  • Once "Hunting Palismen" aired, fans immediately started writing stories where the Golden Guard/Hunter leaves the Emperor's Coven and flees to the Owl House after Belos tries to kill his Palisman.
    • Such stories usually make Hunter become a brother figure to Luz. In fact, many AU stories already depict him as her (step)brother.
  • A popular plot point involving Hunter's redemption involves him springing Raine from their imprisonment or going to the Owl House crew and telling them about how to break Raine out; in the latter case, he may not have planned to do a Heel–Face Turn but ends up in severe danger, with the Owl House being his only hope of safety. While his relationship with the Owl House residents starts off understandably rocky, he and Luz develop a sibling relationship, with King cautiously following Luz's lead.
  • Ever since "Knock, Knock, Knocking on Hooty's Door" revealed there's a Calamity Box in the basement of the Owl House, many crossovers with Amphibia have Luz bring it up to the Calamity trio (usually Anne, sometimes Marcy) and they often utilize it to travel between worlds. Said stories often reveal that the second Calamity Box has only one gem which is linked to Luz, making her a Calamity warrior with her own unique magic powers.
  • After the implication in "Eclipse Lake" that Hunter is literally an ingredient in Belos's plans, meaning his uncle has no qualms about killing him to get what he wants, stories began to surface where Hunter discovers Belos's intentions and terrified, flees to either the Owl House or Blight Manor to beg for help and shelter, ending up in the Owl House either way since he can't exactly hide long-term with the Blights. Yet again, he and Luz develop a sibling relationship in this scenario. In canon, however, he ends up running from the Owl House after learning the truth, in part because he needs time alone to process everything and because the Owl House is a known location that Belos could find him in.
  • Another popular plot for Hunter's redemption is Belos discovering his Palisman and either destroying it or threatening it, in spite of how much Hunter tells him that Flapjack is his friend or not dangerous. This causes Hunter to realize that his uncle is Beyond Redemption and that he needs to flee.
  • "Yesterday's Lie" spawned a lot of interest in what Vee was doing at Reality Check camp and how she fit in with the other kids.
  • Several fans have begun shipping Vee with the cheerleader resembling Amity seen in the first episode to serve as a foil to Lumity, as well as showing how Luz's old classmates may prefer the "new Luz".
    • Not as popular but this can come in the flavor of "Vee has a crush on the cheerleader but it fizzles out when she overhears her object of affection making comments about how nice it is that 'Luz decided to stop being a freak', making Vee realize she was Loving a Shadow and instead of being the girl of her dreams, the cheerleader is her adoptive sister's worst nightmare."
    • A more humorous take on the Vee dating the Blonde stories is to have the Blonde mistakenly flirt with Luz, or spotting Luz on a date with Amity and thinking Vee is cheating on her.
  • Since Odalia was confirmed to be the one who forced Amity to dye her hair green so that she matched her siblings, many fans have decided that the reason that she hasn't flipped on her younger daughter over her new purple hair was because she simply didn't notice due to being too busy dealing with the Emperor's Coven.
  • Several fanfics feature Luz teaching her friends about the human realm, highlighting just how different the two worlds are.
  • Stories and fanfics about Vee and her summer camp friends getting into hijinks together, as well as the group finding out about Vee's true form and past are slowly getting really popular.
    • In some of those fics, Vee and the goth girl usually get shipped together.
  • Due to the Boiling Isles' boiling rain, anytime a witch, especially Amity, experiences rain in the human world they will initially freak out as a stock plot moment in any fic where a witch is in the human world long enough to have rain. This would become Ascended Fanon in Season 3.
  • Stories that share the features of Belos being Philip Wittebane (or his brother) and Flapjack having been one of their Palisman show Belos not consuming it - usually due to nostalgia.
  • Azura the Good Witch is just a fictional series and character in canon, with no indication they're even Very Loosely Based on a True Story to imply she existed. Many stories, however, have Azura be Real After All. What tends to happen after that is up in the air, but she generally takes an interest in Luz.
  • Since Hunter gets a scroll at the end of "Any Sport in a Storm", many fics feature him being technologically illiterate and having to be taught how to text, evidenced by how he is apparently a very slow typer. The next episode confirms this given how many punctuation errors he makes.
  • After a scene in "Any Sport in a Storm" where Boscha mocks the Purple Prose of the Azura series after Luz tries to recruit her to her and Amity's book club, some story concepts have ran with the idea of Boscha actually liking the books (Notably, Boscha has her eyes closed while dramatically reciting a passage from the book, implying that she has it memorized). Usually either Played for Laughs, in which case Boscha is embarrassed about liking the series, or played more for sincerity, in which case Boscha will bond with Luz and Amity over their shared love for the series.
  • In many pieces of fanart, the reason for the falling-out between Darius and Alador was because of a rejected romance: Either Alador and Darius competed for Odalia's love or Darius and Odalia competed for Alador's. Odalia or Alador made their choice, and Darius was left behind and grew bitter because of the rejection. The latter interpretation is slightly more popular than the former.
    • The Darius x Alador pairing grew in popularity after his wife Odalia left him because he disapproved of her collaboration with Belos.
  • In the wake of "Hollow Mind", many fanfics were written where Hunter is comforted after his panic attack, usually by Eda, Darius, or Willow (the last one is very popular for shipping fics).
  • In a crossover with another series, Belos generally will be the one of the few, if not the, only person on the Boiling Isles with extensive knowledge of the other crossover's lore and existence. This will usually be shown via Wham Line moments where Belos is aware of something major about the other half of the crossover. This is frequently combined with Luz being related to said crossover element in some way, but the two can be exclusive if the crossover does not directly alter Luz's backstory.
  • In "O Titan, Where Art Thou", Steve mentions that he knows a good therapist. That same week, the finale of Amphibia revealed that Sasha grew up to become a therapist, leading to a number of crossover stories where Sasha is Steve's therapist.
  • In a similar idea to the above, since the Amphibia finale implied that Marcy still had to move away with her parents to an unknown state, crossover stories where Marcy and Luz meet each other and become friends is quickly becoming common. This leads to Luz meeting the former's friends and possibly recognizing Anne, based on their interaction in the short Comic-Con 2021 crossover. However, it's revealed in Marcys Journal A Guide To Amphibia that Marcy's family moved to Massachusetts, though it is adjacent to Conneticut.
  • There have been many fanfics depicting what occurs immediately after the end of "King's Tide". There are many variations but the basic structure of these fics goes as follows:
    • Camila welcomes the children inside, she asks Vee to bring some towels so they can dry off and then she tends to their wounds, she serves them dinner but they're usually not particularly hungry, one or more of the kids has a Heroic BSoD, then they all have a sleepover since none of them are willing to sleep alone.
    • As an extension of this, fics that act as interquels to the events of "Thanks to Them". Since most of the characters' time on Earth is simply skimmed over during the montage in the Cold Open, many writers like exploring in-depth everything that might have occurred during that time, from the general comedy that would come from the witches adapting to living in Gravesfield to more dramatic story beats such as Vee, who was tortured by the Emperor's Coven, learning Hunter was the Golden Guard.
  • Many fans make the witch that Caleb Wittebane (likely) knocked up either a member of the Clawthorne family or their progenitress, thus making both her and Caleb distant ancestors of Eda and Lilith. Word of God would later confirm that this was the case.
  • In the aftermath of "King's Tide", it become popular to write stories about the characters that remain on the Boiling Isles under the Collector's reign. These stories usually focus on Eda, Raine and Lilith, but sometimes also the younger characters that weren't seen in the episode, like Boscha, Viney, Mattholomule, and Skara.
    • Another popular idea since "King's Tide" is for The Collector to undergo a Heel–Face Turn.
  • There have been two particularly popular fanfic plots following the Grand Finale:
  • Humans adapting to the Boiling Isles is a semi-common motif in fandoms. On the lighter end is the idea of a human slowly growing a bile sac over their heart, while in more extensive examinations, humans will undo a Slow Transformation into Witches the longer they stay in the Boiling Isles, sometimes automatically and sometimes based on the Titan's will. Naturally, Luz would be more on board with this than Philip.
  • In stories featuring Masha, writers will usually have them be aware of Vee being a basilisk, and by extention, know about magic and the Demon Realm.
  • When it comes to fan fictions that retells the series, Once Upon a Swap will almost always be Adapted Out due to the episode being perceived as a glorified filler that doesn't add anything to the overaching story.
