District 1

    Districtwide Tropes 
  • City of Gold: The most luxurious district in Panem.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: District One's tribute colour following the Reclamation is scarlet red.
  • Popularity Power: How District One chooses its tributes, they vote for which of the volunteers would be allowed to represent their district.
  • Spin-Offspring: Many of the tributes competing in the 100th Games are related to past District One Victors. This includes Sapphire (Silica), Charmeuse (Ferro), Lord (Flint), Denim (Cobalt), Opulenza (Emerald), Patent (Skarn), Optimo (Augustus), and Plush (Flash)
  • Total Party Kill: None of the pre-Reclamation District One Victors are alive by the Reclamation.
    • Silica, Kutter, and Skarn die sometime before the 75th Hunger Games.
    • Flint is murdered by Salazar Gaul weeks after her Hunger Games..
    • Cashmere and Gloss both die during the 75th Hunger Games.
    • Ferro, Scoria, Cobalt, Emerald, Flash, and Augustus are presumed to be dead by the end of the Second Rebellion.
  • Undignified Death: A common fate for District One's tributes between Estelle and Mirai's respective victories. Notable ones include both tributes being killed by someone impersonating a Career (90th Hunger Games), one tribute being ran over by a trash compactor and another dying in an explosion caused by it (91st Hunger Games), and both tributes falling into a piranha pit made by a twelve-year-old outlier (92nd Hunger Games)
  • Wealth's in a Name: Common among its population as it's the luxury district. Averted with Mirai, Kyan, and Heliodoranote , since their names means "future" in Japanese, "ancient" in Gaelic, and "gift of the sun" in Ancient Greek respectively.
     Silica Jones (3rd Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Children Forced to Kill: Sixteen when she entered her Games.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Silica doesn't make a further appearance in the series. Her death is confirmed during the District One reapings for the 75th Hunger Games where her name is crossed out.
  • Doomed by Canon: She's one of the 16 Victors who passes away before the 75th Hunger Games.
  • Improvised Armour: As tributes fight in the clothes they were reaped in, Silica uses the boy from Four's thick coat as one.
  • Kill Tally: Two confirmed tributes - the District Four boy (Seel) and the District Two boy (Linus).
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Her son, Siliconote , was later killed by Bluebell during the 21nd Hunger Games.
  • Teen Pregnancy: She was pregnant while in the arena.
     Ferro Angstrom (4th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • An Arm and a Leg: Lost the use of his hand and accepted a prosthetic from the Capitol.
  • Children Forced to Kill: Seventeen when he entered his Games.
  • Kill Tally: Eight kills - the District Two boy (Lazarus), the District Six boy (Missouri), both District Nine tributes (Zara and Rake), the District Five girl (Hydra), and three other unnamed tributes.
     Kutter Bates (7th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Children Forced to Kill: Eighteen when he entered his Games.
  • Descent into Addiction: Becomes a morphling addict following his Games.
  • Kill Tally: One confirmed tribute - the District One girl (Nephrite). Also mentioned that he killed a handful of other tributes, including some from both Two and Four.
     Skarn Carter (12th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Children Forced to Kill: Sixteen when she entered her Games.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Skarn doesn't make a further appearance in the series following her Hunger Games. Her death is confirmed during the District One reapings for the 75th Hunger Games where her name is crossed out.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: She's quickly able to take down the remaining Career pack and Rubius. Justified because she's the only person who has a weapon.
  • Darkness Equals Death: Invoked. Skarn quickly stabs her now-former allies when the arena had a blackout.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Skarn vows to never eat rabbit again following her Hunger Games due to her experiences in the arena.
  • Doomed by Canon: She's one of the sixteen Victors who died before the 75th Hunger Games.
  • Kill Tally: At least three kills - both unnamed boys from District One and Two, plus the District Six boy (Rubius). She may have killed more tributes during the bloodbath, where it's said that fourteen died.
  • Killer Rabbit: Skarn's arena featured many of them. Several rabbits killed the District Two girl (Pegasus) in retaliation for shooting one with a bow.
  • Retired Badass: Skarn goes on to become the manager of a leading emerald mine.
     Scoria Jones (19th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Kill Tally: Two confirmed tributes - the District Five girl (Melatide) and one of the District Six tributes (Kansas).
     Cobalt Townsend (28th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Kill Tally: Three confirmed tributes - the District Two boy (Lucifer) and both of District Seven tributes (Honeysuckle and Lumbra).
  • Named After Somebody Famous: His surname is tied to a Career Academy scholarship for gifted District One children, which Flint Harrison was the recipient of when she was twelve years old.
  • Training from Hell: Becomes an arena designer at the training academy who puts extremely harsh conditions in mock Hunger Games arenas.
     Emerald Rivalta (34th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Animal Stampede: The main event of her arena, as it's in a zoo.
  • Kill Tally: Three confirmed tributes - the District Two tributes (Amadeus and Sabina) and Ruth. May have killed other tributes as part of the Career Pack.
     Flash Malone (37th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Badass Teacher: He takes on a teaching position at the training academy, where he specializes in "psychological espionage".
  • Improvised Weapon: Flash uses a sharpened tree branch as a makeshift spear.
  • Kill Tally: Three kills - the District Six boy (Cricket), District Ten girl (Ariana), and District Two girl (Antonia).
  • Odd Friendship: After abandoning the Career pack, Flash makes an alliance with Ariana, an outlier girl.
     Gloss and Cashmere Ritschlund (63rd and 64th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Blatant Lies: Cashmere claims that the reason why she burst into tears was due to a mix of relief of survival and happiness at winning this year. Knowing what she dealt with, her claim is obviously a lie.
  • Chekhov's Volcano: Cashmere's arena is located near a volcano that erupts later in the Games.
  • Intoxication Ensues: Heavily implied that Cashmere replaced Ferra's water with a tasteless alcohol during the debates, disqualifying her from the selections and banning her from volunteering.
  • Kill Tally:
    • Gloss: Seven kills - the District Seven boy (Ashin), the District Eight girl (Lacie), the District Twelve girl (Daisy), the District Six tributes (Austin and Michigan), the District One girl (Larima), and the District Two boy (Alblus)
    • Cashmere: Five kills - District Six tributes (Robin and Jenee), the District Three girl (Twitch), Timbo, and the District Two girl (Diana)
  • Named After Somebody Famous: The post-Reclamation Career Academy Phenomenon attended before participating in the 90th Hunger Games was named after the twins.
  • O.C. Stand-in: First introduced in Catching Fire as District 1's tributes in the Third Quarter Quell.
  • Sex Slave: As implied in the canon, Gloss and Cashmere suffers this fate.
     Augustus Braun (67th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Canon Foreigner: First appeared on the Capitol Couture website, but is not mentioned in either the books or the films.
  • Kill Tally: Two confirmed tributes - the District Twelve boy (Dawson), Valario, the District Seven boy (Wolver), the District Four girl (Loach), Keenan, the District One girl (Ambrosia) the District Eleven girl (Heaven),
  • O.C. Stand-in: First introduced in a propaganda poster featured on the Capitol Couture website.
     Flint Harrison (72nd Hunger Games Victor) 
  • The Ace: Was the highest-scoring female in her class and is proficient in a variety of weapons.
  • Doomed by Canon: She's one of the 16 tributes considered dead (or presumed dead) by the time of the 75th Hunger Games.
  • Kill Tally: Seven kills - the District Twelve girl (Dahlia), the District Five boy, the District Eight girl, the District Two boy (Vitus), Jeni, the District Ten girl (Cathara), the District Nine boy (Samson).
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Rue (as "Ruby") claimed that she attended a Career Academy in District One named after Flint as part of her cover story during the 90th Hunger Games. Phenomenon later suses her out when they're alone, as there is no Career Academy named after Flint.
  • Never Found the Body: After criticizing the Hunger Games system, she disappears weeks later after moving to the Capitol. Following the District One preliminaries of the 100th Hunger Games, a data breach done by UNIDAD reveals that a then-seventeen-year-old Salazar Gaul killed her and had his father dispose of her body.
  • Scholarship Student: She got the opportunity to attend her local Career Academy for free after winning a scholarship that allows her to do so.
  • She Knows Too Much: It is revealed that she was killed by a teenage Salazar Gaul following his Accidental Murder of his ex-girlfriend, the latter not wanting to face consequences for his actions and the former being the only witness.
  • Sea of Sand: Her arena is a burning desert that doesn't appear to have any flora in it.
     Estelle Van Rusch (84th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Badass Teacher: After she successfully mentors Mirai to victory, she co-teaches some courses at the Kobayashi Self-Defence Centre.
  • Butt-Monkey: The District Two Victor team wouldn’t say it out loud in public, but Estelle is implied to be this internally before Mirai won her Hunger Games. Maxima speaks in detail about how much she dislikes her, while Ennius “privately” makes a snide comment at her after a 12-year-old kills both of her tributes during the 91st Hunger Games.
    Christian: “A minor controversy was also triggered when Ennius incorrectly believed his microphone to be turned off, but was heard to say, ‘take that Van Rusch’, clearly referring to Estelle Van Rusch, the only living victor and mentor for District One”.
  • Eye Patch Of Power: Estelle wears one following her Hunger Games.
  • Kill Tally: Six confirmed kills - the District Eight boy, the District Six boy, the District Four girl (Karla), the District Eleven tributes (Robin and Magnolia), and the District Ten boy (Bolton)
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: In-universe. Her Hunger Games are looked on unfavourably due to a lack of action and an arena malfunction.
  • Teacher/Student Romance: Marries her mentor, Grenadino following the Games.
     Mirai Kobayashi (94th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Badass Teacher: She's not only the owner of the Kobayashi Self-Defence Centre, but also teaches there along with Estelle.
  • Dartboard of Hate: As part of her talent display, Mirai doodles another tribute candidate (Star Firoza) on the centre of a target, that she backhands a throwing knife at "Star's" forehead.
  • Dual Wielding: Her signature weapon is twin butterfly swords. She relies on them for her talent display and her feast bag also contains a pair of them.
  • Family Business: The Kobayashi family runs a jewelry line that Mirai models for. She later on takes over the business years after her victory.
  • Interclass Friendship: She bonds with her district partner Kyan, who's a worker of a local emerald mine to support his sister and ill father.
  • Kill Tally: Two kills - District Fourteen girl (Nessa) and District Six boy (Delaware)
  • Odd Friendship: Mirai and her district partner Kyan form an alliance with the District Seven tributes (Teak and Lilac) instead of the usual District Two tributes (Lucretius and Mellona).
  • Old Money: Implied. The narrator says that Mirai is next in line to a legacy of jewelry modelling. In the arena, Mirai also mentions to Kyan that she has been raised in a family of wealthy jewellers.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: Mirai wears a silk dress that has one of each District One gemstone sewn into the fabric.
  • Powerful Pick: Before Mirai was sponsored her preferred butterfly swords, she relied on an ice pick as her main weapon. Justified because her arena takes place in a snowy area and that they were present at the cornucopia.
  • Smoking Barrel Blowout: Downplayed. Mirai pretends to do this with her remaining knife following the conclusion of her talent display.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Mirai always wears a lilac necklace in memory of Lilac, the District 7 girl she fell in love with during her Games.
  • Young Entrepreneur: Mirai opens up a successful self-defence school for the general public called "The Kobayashi Self-Defence Centre" shortly after her Hunger Games.
     Dollar Crusoe (95th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Chained Heat: As part of the Quinquennial Quell, he's "chained" to Quartz using a lightweight belt that doesn't break until there's eight tributes remaining.
  • Fanservice: Dollar's talent display integrates fanservice, where his demonstration involves gradually taking off articles of clothing to reveal Hidden Weapons underneath that he'd throw at multiple targets.
  • Sex Slave: Heavily implied to have been one. His account notes that his presence was noted at Capitolian events, and he'd have an array of Capitol mistresses.note 
  • Worthy Opponent: Dollar speaks favourably of his competitors during his post-Games interview with Eugenia.
     Optimo Braun and Dazzle Martello (100th Hunger Games Victor-Tributes) 
  • Berserk Button: Allura's death seems to be this to Optimo, who's revealed to be his late sister. When Resina taunts him about how Allura's death during the 96th Hunger Games was hilarious due to coming third to a "block-head" (Janus) and a "lunatic" (Atomica), Optimo didn't hesitate to lunge his pickaxe at her.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The diamonds are this to Dazzle during her District Games. They're casually mentioned as part of the arena description but Dazzle is the only tribute who uses them to her advantage - first to test if the water is drinkable and second as a weapon.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Downplayed with Dazzle. After being mocked and belittled by Octavia, Dazzle snaps at being called "the rock girl" by Octavia after she kills Begonia and slices the tendons in the back of her feet. Octavia's immobility gives Tibo a chance to avenge his late wife by tying her up and torturing her to death.
  • Crystal Landscape: Their District Hunger Games arena consists of hundreds of water-filled caves that's filled with thousands of multicoloured diamonds, some of which are as big as a newborn baby.
  • In-Universe Nickname: Optimo and Dazzle are known as "The Separator" and "Diamond Dazzle" respectively.
  • Javelin Thrower: Optimo chooses to use throwing spears as part of both his talent display and his interview. Subverted in-arena where there's no throwing spears. Double subverted during the Grand Final where he opts to use one as his choice weapon.
  • Kill Tally:
    • Optimo has four direct kills officially (Lord, Resina, Scabal and Plush) tied to his name during his District Games. He gains two more kills from Delila and Clara during the Grand Final.
    • Dazzle has three direct kills (Graff, Bounty, Rock) and one indirect kill (Amethyst) tied to her name during her District Games. She gains two more kills during the Grand Final from throwing a knife at the heads of Lumo and Olive.
  • Mercy Kill: Implied with Dazzle and Lumo during the Grand Final. When a crocodile was attacking Lumo in the swamp part of the arena, Dazzle throws a knife at his head that kills him instantly.
  • Meaningful Name: Discussed in-universe regarding Dazzle. She has radiant blonde hair and bright blue eyes, which complements her name.
  • Powerful Pick: The arena contains pickaxes whose shaft and blades easily detach. Both Optimo and Dazzle both rely on pickaxes to finish off their opponents, although Dazzle doesn't get her hands on one until after she encounters Graff and Bounty.
  • Raised by Grandparents: Implied with Dazzle. Her parents aren't mentioned in the series. However she requests that in return for helping Optimo kill Rock, Mayor Braun donates enough money to her maternal grandparents so they can stop working.
  • Spin-Offspring: Optimo is both the younger brother of Allura (District One female tribute of the 96h Hunger Games) and a descendant of Augustus Braun.
  • Swarm of Rats: A swarm of them are released from the cornucopia at the tributes during the District Hunger Games, including Dazzle and Optimo. Dazzle uses them to her advantage during her battle with Amethyst where she throws a rock at her chest, knocking her to the ground and letting the rats bite her to death. Meanwhile, Optimo avoids them with his allies by moving to higher ground.
  • Victory by Endurance: How Dazzle "won" her District Hunger Games and became her district's female tribute. She was the only female tribute remaining after Optimo kills Plush.

District 2

    Districtwide Tropes 
  • Academy of Evil: Following the Reclamation, District Two has an advanced course in their training academy nicknamed "The Dalton Elite" that "fine-tunes" children's skills to kill other children and nurture a handful of them to become Ax-Crazy sociopaths.
  • Badass Family: The Dalton family has produced two Hunger Games Victors, several female candidates who fought in the pre-Reclamation volunteer Games, a mayor, six post-Reclamation Hunger Games tributes who made it to the top eight of their respective Games, and six tributes for the District Two preliminaries for the 100th Hunger Games with one of them representing them in the grand finale.
  • Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: Played straight with the female post-Reclamation District Two Victors. Alisia is described to be blonde, Selena is said to have red hair, and Maxima has jet black hair.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: District Two's tribute colour following the Reclamation is gold.
  • Mud Wrestling: District Two's way of choosing their tributes following the Reclamation.
  • Total Party Kill: None of the pre-Reclamation District Two Victors are alive by their arc's end.
    • Cassius dies sometime before the 75th Hunger Games.
    • Vita is presumed to be dead after she changed her name and became a peacekeeper in another district.
    • Brutus dies during the 75th Hunger Games.
    • Justus, Claudia, Julius, Septimus, Flavia, Lyme, Tatianna, Plato, Mars, and Artemis are presumed to be dead by the end of the Second Rebellion.
    • Enobaria perishes in the 76th Hunger Games arena after Johanna beheads her.
  • Tyke Bomb: According to Flavia, District Two children start training for the Hunger Games once they start school.
  • Wretched Hive: Downplayed with "The Salt Flats" area of Two. Rubius describes it to be poverty-stricken and filled with "degenerates" of an undisclosed type when Ismene is reaped. It's also used as a slur by more wealthier people, as seen with Julius calling Ismene "salt flat scum".
     Cassius Heath (1st Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Children Forced to Kill: Sixteen when he enters his Hunger Games.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Downplayed. Cassius disappears from the series, and the visual shown during the District Two reapings of the 75th Hunger Games has his name struck out, confirming his death.
  • Doomed by Canon: He's one of the sixteen tributes who passed away by the time of the 75th Hunger Games.
  • Kill Tally: Four confirmed tributes - District Eleven girl (Liliana), District Twelve boy (Bruce), District Three girl (Elektra), and District Eight girl (Loom)
     Vita Perez (5th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • All of the Other Reindeer: District Two shuns her following her Hunger Games for how she turned on Claudius.
  • Children Forced to Kill: Sixteen when she enters her first Hunger Games.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Downplayed. Vita disappears from the series after she applies to become a peacekeeper elsewhere. The visual shown during the District Two reapings of the 75th Hunger Games has her name struck out, confirming her death.
  • Doomed by Canon: She's one of the sixteen tributes who passed away by the time of the 75th Hunger Games.
  • Kill Tally: At least three tributes - Claudius and two other undisclosed tributes. She may have killed more while she was with Claudius.
  • Starting a New Life: Vita changes her name so no one from District Two can find her.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Vita applies to become a peacekeeper following her Hunger Games, so she can move to another district to avoid the backlash in her tribute.
     Justus al-Fayed (8th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Children Forced to Kill: Seventeen when he enters his Hunger Games.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Downplayed. Justus isn't seen for most of the pre-Reclamation arc, but the visual for the District Two reapings of the 75th Hunger Games confirms that he's still alive.
  • Kill Tally: Eleven confirmed tributes - District Eleven girl (Magnolia) and ten undisclosed tributes.
  • The Night Owl: Justus becomes one during his Hunger Games where he sleeps in a secure position during the day and wakes up at night to kill his opponents.
  • Slain in Their Sleep: Justus's strategy was to kill as many tributes as he can while they were sleeping.
     Claudia Schmidt (13th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Bears Are Bad News: The arena features "playful" bears whose personality and strong paws would severely injure those close to them. Claudia and the rest of the career pack takes advantage of that to chase tributes into a park of full of them, so they'd die from any injuries from those bears.
  • Bludgeoned to Death: Claudia uses a stone in her pocket to bludgeon Ramses to death during the final battle.
  • Call-Back: Another earthquake has also happened in San Francisco prior to Claudia's Hunger Games.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Downplayed. Claudia isn't seen for most of the pre-Reclamation arc, but the visual for the District Two reapings of the 75th Hunger Games confirms that she's still alive.
  • Guile Hero: An Informed Attribute, but Claudia uses her sponsor gifts to lure other tributes to her hiding place so she can drop bricks on them.
  • Improvised Weapon: Claudia used the bricks from the ruins to both smash against the heads of other tributes and drop on tributes' heads. Her opponent, Rameses, also uses some jagged metal during their final battle.
  • In-Series Nickname: She's known as "Smasher Schmidt" by Capitol citizens.
  • Kill Tally: At least five kills - District Three boy (Ramses) and four unnamed ones from her falling brick trap. It's likely that she killed more during the bloodbath and during her trap with the bears.
  • Literal Cliffhanger: Claudia survives the Golden Gate Bridge's collapse by hanging on to the side wiring of the bridge.
  • Urban Ruins: Claudia's arena takes place in the ruins of San Francisco.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Her Games are considered one of the most popular in the history of the Hunger Games. She also helped found the training academies in her home district following her Hunger Games.
     Julius Galloway (24th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Downplayed. Julius isn't seen in the rest of the pre-Reclamation arc after he moves to a mountain commune near the Capitol, but the visual for the District Two reapings of the 75th Hunger Games confirms that he's still alive.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Julius and his district partner, Priscilla both simultaneously stabbed the back of the heads of the District One tributes.
  • Improvised Weapon: Julius throws stalactite at Bruno's head.
  • Kill Tally: Three confirmed tributes - an undisclosed District One tribute, District Two girl (Priscilla), and District Eight boy (Bruno) during the finale. He may have killed more tributes before that.
     Septimus Paddick (29th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Doomed by Canon: He's killed during the Victors' Purge.
  • Exotic Entree: Septimus is seen killing and cooking the owls while in the arena.
  • In-Universe Nickname: The districts call him "Psycho Septimus" over his kill count.
  • Kill Tally: Eighteen confirmed tributes - both District One tributes, the District Two girl, both District Five tributes (Mariah and Joules), and eleven unnamed tributes (seven of which was during the bloodbath).
  • Machete Mayhem: Septimus uses machetes to kill seven tributes during the bloodbath. It's presumed that he also used them to kill his other eleven tributes.
  • Ominous Owl: The owls are described to be "cunning" in the arena.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: His son, Severus, was killed by Haymitch during the 50th Hunger Games.
  • The Quisling: Septimus becomes a training master following his Hunger Games.
  • The Stoic: Capitol historians report that Septimus did not show any emotion during or after his Hunger Games.
  • Villain with Good Publicity - He's a Capitol favourite among their citizens.
     Flavia Nixon (41st Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Badass Teacher: She becomes an instructor at the local training academy following her victory.
  • Do Not Touch the Funnel Cloud: The tornados in the arena can be programmed to target specific tributes.
  • Kill Tally: At least three tributes - District Three girl (Meggiebyte), District Twelve girl (Aneeta), District Five Girl (Helga). The narrator said that she killed an unspecified number of tributes following the bloodbath, because they're easier to catch due to tripping on the rocky ground.
  • Odd Friendship: She strikes up an alliance with Aneeta, a District Twelve girl. Justified because Flavia's career allies were killed during the opening minutes.
  • Victory by Endurance: She only wins her Hunger Games because her final opponent (Othello) was pierced in the head by a wayward stick.
     Brutus Gunn (47th Hunger Games Victor) 
     Lyme Christie (51st Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Abandoned Hospital: Lyme's arena takes part in an abandoned hospital whose grounds are infested with cats.
  • Cats Are Mean: Lyme's arena contains "crafty" and flea-infested cats who collectively clawed at one of her allies' faces.
  • Kill Tally: At least three kills - District Four boy (Rasputin), District Two boy (Sirius), and District Three boy (Faraday). The account also mentions that the career pack she was in also killed nine tributes, including the District Ten boy (Wagner) and the District Eleven girl (Dolly).
  • Improvised Weapon: She and the Career tributes use bed bars and old curtain equipment to make a makeshift spear.
  • Medication Tampering: Lyme replaces a syringe's medication with a flea-infested cat's blood and gives that to her district partner, Sirius. Unsurprisingly, he dies from blood poisoning.

  • Death in the Clouds: The epilogue for her Hunger Games says that she died in a hovercraft explosion nine years later.

    Christian: She [Alisia] then approached Dougal and told him that he has been an 'extremely worthy adversary' before apologizing and stabbing his head, which sounded his cannon just seconds later.

  • Conspiracy Theorist: Implied with Lumo. Following his escape, he believes that everything he sees (including Rubius, Glitch, and the Grand Final arena) isn't "real".

  • Dead All Along: It's revealed post-series by Christian that the real Glitch died after Lumo breaks out of the arena. The "Glitch" in the Grand Final is actually a Capitolian girl who looks like her who is kidnapped, given an education on who Glitch is, and told that she can return back to her family if she wins the Hunger Games.
  • Dying Declaration of Hate: Exaggerated with Glitch, according to an account by an ancestor of the narrator, who was allowed to watch the finale in Snow Square. Word of God says that it's justified because she's actually a Capitolian citizen who is forced to compete as her.
  • Kill Tally: Both victors do not have kills officially tied to their name. However, Lumo's bullets did kill Rooter, Electress.
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: Lumo is attacked by an alligator who bites his foot and his arm, causing him to scream in pain. Dazzle throws a knife at him 30 seconds later to end his misery.

  • Battle Couple: Becomes one with his district partner, Fresca. Justified because they were dating before they entered the arena, combined with how Jonah volunteers so he can protect her.

  • Died on Their Birthday: It happens to be his birthday when he was reaped. Finnick's ex-girlfriend also lampshades this.
  • Doomed by Canon: He's mauled by the lizard mutts during Mockingjay.
  • O.C. Stand-in: He's the District Four male tribute of the 75th Hunger Games who protects Katniss while she's in the arena.
     Annie Cresta (70th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Afraid of Blood: Implied. She's squeamish when fish is being cut in the District Four market.
  • Children Forced to Kill: Eighteen when she entered her Hunger Games.
  • Kill Tally: One tribute - District Two boy (Gladius)
  • O.C. Stand-in: First introduced in Catching Fire as the reaped District Four female tribute of the 75th Hunger Games before Mags volunteers for her. Christian also uses the picture of her as portrayed by Stef Dawson.
  • Sole Survivor: Downplayed.
    • She's the only District Four Victor left by the end of the pre-Reclamation arc. Justified because she didn't take the offer from the Capitol, and allowed them to reap three girls from her district in her place.
    • She's also the only canon Victor alive at the end of the series, due to Beetee dying of old age following the 93rd Hunger Games and the other fivenote  dying during the Reclamation.
  • Spiders Are Scary: Annie screams when a tarantula is put on her forehead.
     Finnick Odair Jr. (80th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Children Forced to Kill: Finnick is sent into the arena when he’s within reaping age.
  • Dead Guy Junior:
    • Is named after his late father, Finnick.
    • Has a daughter who he names Mags.
  • O.C. Stand-in: Annie gives birth to a baby boy near the end of Mockingjay.
  • Spin-Offspring: He’s the mentioned son of both Finnick and Annie.
  • Vague Age: Unlike most other characters in the series, Finnick Jr’s age is not revealed and canon does not state when he was exactly born.
     Limerick Manx (88th Hunger Games Victor) 
  • The Alcoholic: Becomes one by the time of the 100th Hunger Games, where he’s seen being drunk in front of the tributes and even when saying goodbye to them.
  • Call-Back: During the District Four preliminaries of the 100th Hunger Games, Limerick shows up drunk and is heard bringing up a “Ms. [Devon] Jimenez”. Devon was his former ally during his Hunger Games who he was forced to kill when they remained.
  • Children Forced to Kill: Eighteen when he entered his Hunger Games.
  • Kill the Ones You Love: Limerick and Devon are forced to turn against each other when they reach the final two.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Is described to be both attractive and have long hair tied into a ponytail.
     Sandy Sellick (93rd Hunger Games Victor) 
  • Alliterative Name: Sandy Sellick
  • Artistic License – Biology: Sandy pees on a sock that she would use to heal her right hip that was stung by a jellyfish. There's no scientific evidence that urine helps cure jelly stings. Some claim that it worsens the sting.
  • Children Forced to Kill: Seventeen when she enters her Hunger Games.
  • Disney Villain Death: Sandy's feet smacks the top of Venus's head while jumping to the nearest bar, making her lose her grip and fall to her death.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Sandy is shown wearing a homemade jumpsuit instead of a dress like the other women.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Sandy admits to Eugenia that a handful of girls have been interested in her.
    Narrator: "...but Sandy quickly turned to them and assured them that 'there's been girls as well, don't be shocked.'"

  • Children Forced to Kill: Shell and Baffin were fifteen and twelve respectively when they entered their district’s Hunger Games.
  • Deserted Island: The setting of their arena is a small C-shaped island that no one has inhabited. May or may not be an artificial island.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Baffin is stabbed in the throat by Restoro, marking the collapse of the outlier alliance.
  • Improvised Weapon: Shell uses a turtle shell to hit Dwayn’s knees and ankle, causing him to drown.
  • Instant Waking Skills: Shell was able to wake up before Sirena was about to attack her.
  • In-Universe Nickname: Shell and Baffin are known as “Turtle Shell” and “The Toxic Twelve-Year-Old respectively.
  • Kill Tally:
    • Shell has three direct kills (Marinetta, Ling, Sirena) tied to her name. One indirect kill from Dwayn if you count it, although Christian doesn’t list it in her listing on the official stat sheet.
