    In General
  • Oddly Small Organization: The number of people working as the staff never goes above the double digits in any of the seasons. The beta has whopping two staff members, the host and Jensen, which then becomes three with Derek and Trevor taking over for Jared in Season 1. Season 2 begins with Kristal, Marcus and Nina alone before Oliver joins them, bringing it up to four. All-Stars has the biggest staff crew so far, with Kristal, Oliver, Marcus, Nina, newcomer Emily, and a returning Trevor and Derek, but that's still only seven people in total.

Season 1 Crew

Jared Johnson (Unmarked Adventure Camp Spoilers
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jared_johnson.png
Voiced by: Michael Horowitz (English), Luis Burciaga (Spanish)

  • Adapted Out: He's replaced by Derek and Trevor in the remastered version of Season 1. Likely in order to avoid lawsuits from FreshTV for his connection to Chris McLean.
  • Affably Evil: Jared looks like a perfectly nice guy at first glance, but the finale reveals that he's a kidnapper who's willing to kill his captive once the show's over.
  • Alliterative Name: Jared Johnson.
  • And Then What?: He, with Jensen's help, kidnaps Chris, uses his money to host a bogus competition, and plans to get rid of him once it all ends. There's no discussion over what he'll do after that, however, considering the authorities would definitely be on the hunt for him due to Chris' popularity.
  • Connected All Along: The first part of the finale reveals he used to work as an intern for Chris McLean. His Revenge plot in general connected the story to Total Drama.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: The first part of the finale reveals that he was fired by Chris merely because the host didn't like his coffee. Jared tried to protest because he needed the money to pay for his mother's medication, but to no avail. As such, he swore that Chris McLean will regret it should anything happen to her. Given that he went along with his Revenge plot in the end, he likely lost his mother.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: He was fired from being an intern by Chris because the host didn't like the coffee Jared made for him.
  • Downer Ending: He got fired over a petty reason, which ended with him not having enough money for his mother's medication and the implication that she died off-screen. At the end of the season, he got sentenced for 30 years for his Revenge against Chris McLean, unlike his partner in crime who got to be a Karma Houdini.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: The reason he became an intern for Chris was because he needed money to pay for his mother's medication, and when Chris fired him, it's implied she passed away, which caused Jared to crack and seek revenge on the TV show host.
  • Evil All Along: The finale eventually reveals that Jared actually kidnapped Chris with help from Jensen, used his money to create the competition, and was planning to get rid of him once the competition was over.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: He was originally a lowly intern working under Chris McLean, only to eventually kidnap him and become a TV show host using Chris' own money to fund it.
  • Healthcare Motivation: The reason he took up the job as intern for Chris was because he needed the money to pay for his mother's medication. Chris firing and depriving him of the way to get them led to his mother dying, and alongside Chris acting like an apathetic jerk about it, causes Jared to lose his marbles and make a plan to kidnap him.
  • The Intern: This was his job back when he worked for Chris, only to be fired by him when he didn't like the coffee he gave him.
  • Jerkass to One: He treats mostly everyone with an air of decency and affability, but holds nothing but contempt for Chris McLean.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: He's sentenced for 30 years in prison for his Revenge plot against Chris McLean.
  • Momma's Boy: He took Chris' abuse, and the job of an intern, to pay for his mother's medication, and losing her not only devastated Jared, but made him swear revenge against Chris himself.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: He's the main antagonist of Adventure Camp, being not only the main showrunner but having also kidnapped Chris McLean and used his money to finance the show, but unlike Jensen, he has no combat skills whatsoever, meaning the police manage to arrest him with ease once they show up to deal with him and Jensen.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: He kidnapped Chris, stole his identity and money, and intended to get rid of him once the show was over.
  • Revenge: With the help of Jensen, he kidnapped Chris McLean, stole his identity and part of his money in order to finance the show, planning to get rid of him afterwards.
  • Revenge Before Reason: His plan to get revenge on Chris for firing him involves kidnapping him, stealing his identity, and using his money to host a Fake competition, all without considering what he was supposed to do once the authorities eventually came looking for him.
  • Spanner in the Works: By revealing her confessional, Jared exposed Fiore's true nature to everyone, which the remaining contestants would otherwise struggle to find out given her Villains Blend in Better.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Chris firing him over coffee, depriving him of the money needed for his mother's medication, is something that Jared is so irate about he willingly kidnaps Chris and uses his money to host a false competition just to spite him.
  • Tragic Villain: He only became a villain because his mother died after he didn't have enough money for her medication following being fired by Chris McLean for a petty reason. He's not even that much of a Sadist compared to later hosts of the series (Trevor excluded) and he was outright malicious only towards Chris McLean.
  • You, Get Me Coffee: This is actually the reason why he was fired in the first place; Chris ordered him to get him coffee, but he disliked it so much that he outright fired him over it, even after Jared begged him to let him stay.

    Derek Johnson and Trevor McGregor

The Bad Host
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/trevor_5.png
The Good Host
Derek as of All-Stars
Trevor as of All-Stars
Derek voiced by: Luis Burciaga (Durango Cosplay) (Spanish), Steven Gordon (English)additional VAs
Trevor voiced by: Freddy Guevara (Spanish), Silly Billy (English)additional VAs
Label: The Bad Host (Derek), The Good Host (Trevor)

Derek is one of the hosts of our favorite campsite! He will certainly make sure that no one gets bored at the camp... and of course he has no plans to make anything easier because we know from unknown sources that he loves masochists. Who doesn't like his sarcastic sense of humor? The contestants in Disventure Camp are clueless!

Trevor is the second and nicer host! He cares about our participants or at least tries to give that impression. More sensitive and less sadistic but is that better or worse? Hmmm... You'll have to check it out for yourselves by watching Disventure Camp!

  • Affably Evil: Trevor is complicit in the criminal business he and Derek have created but his friendliness seems genuine. He's also considerably kinder than Derek and tries to keep him in line when he leans into being a cruel host. It's even suggested in All-Stars that he feels guilty about killing multiple animals, unlike Derek who doesn't show any remorse for it. He also seems to find Riya voting off Connor behind his back repulsive and seems to genuinely care for Derek.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Derek at least. While Trevor was confirmed to be bisexual during the Pride Month 2023 announcement of the show's creators, whether Derek is likewise bisexual or not is currently unknown, as the image that confirms the sexual orientations of most of the show's characters have Derek wear a flower necklace with the bisexual flag's colors, but his annoyed expression can give the impression that he merely wears it to support Trevor who enthusiastically holds a bisexual flag.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: According to Episode 11, they've been killing animals, which shows how evil they are (especially to Gabby) and it clearly isn't meant to be funny.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Despite Trevor's bubbly and silly personality, he's still participating in the killing of animals around the camp.
  • Butt-Monkey: Trevor becomes this in All-Stars, something that gets more noticeable starting on "Strike a Chord": he feels isolated since Derek and Kristal are spending more time together, he tries to sing a song only for Derek to interrupt him and call him a bad singer, and after the Yellow Team causes the lights to catch fire and destroy the stage he's the one forced to clean the mess up alongside the eliminated contestant, with Derek rubbing it in his face when he tries to ask why he's the only one cleaning up. Later in "Ball Busters" he is the one tasked with testing that episode's challenge, and is the one that has to carry Riya's ball after she finds a free pass. Kristal even uses money from his paycheck in "Give Me Some Space!" to buy a ship for a challenge.
  • Canon Foreigner: They were not present in the original version of the first season, replacing Jared Johnson as the hosts of the remake.
  • Captivity Harmonica: While in prison, Trevor played a harmonica seemingly to pass time.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: In Episode 11, Derek (a Sadist who participates in a criminal business) happily suggests he views himself as a villain when stating he and Trevor "aren't complete monsters". It's also implied Trevor, despite being more Affably Evil than Derek, views himself the same way since he smiles when Derek says this and doesn't try to protest.
  • The Corruptor: Derek is being setup as this for Kristal as of episode 5 of All-Stars, trying to get her to return to her old sadistic ways after being disappointed in how Kristal has been softened thanks to Oliver's influence.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Derek is prone to making really sarcastic comments about the challenges and contestants.
  • Decomposite Character: They're essentially the original host, Jared, split in two, with Trevor taking over his apparently friendly nature, while Derek takes over his last name, criminal connections and malicious side of his personality.
  • Demoted to Extra: In universe as both of them are now interns instead of hosts by the time of All-Stars.
  • Depraved Bisexual: Both Trevor and (possibly) Derek have been confirmed in anticipation of the season that much like Jared Johnson from the first season's original version, they are using the show for a criminal business, though how ruthless the enterprise actually is remains currently unknown.
  • Didn't Think This Through: In Episode 3 of All-Stars, Derek suggests to add eels and sharks to the underwater challenge...while he and Trevor are the interns this season, meaning they'll be the ones to test it. Emily and Kristal laugh at him for this while Trevor calls him out on it.
  • Doomed by Canon: They're indirectly mentioned in Season 2 as their unsavory behavior being the reason the show stopped airing for years before Kristal took up the host position, which means that whatever happens in Season 1, they're not sticking around past it. The epilogue of the season 1 remake shows that both of them were arrested, leading Kristal to take over as host.
  • Dreadful Musician: Especially to Derek, Trevor has a painfully bad singing voice, as shown in the sixth episode of All-Stars.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: While he did play a part in killing many animals, Trevor genuinely cares for Derek. He also suggests in "Give Me Some Space!" that he enjoyed working with him in season one.
  • Fear of Thunder: Despite usually not being scared, it's later suggested that Trevor is terrified of thunder; he hides behind Derek in fear when he hears some in Episode 10.
  • Genki Guy: Trevor can be this at times, being very energetic and positive.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: As the showrunners who double as animal serial killers and criminals, they're the main antagonists of the first season in theory, but the Villain Team-Up between Alec, Fiore, and Grett serve as the main drivers of conflict among the campers.
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: It's not clear exactly what running the show has to do with their criminal business, only that it's linked to it.
  • Laser-Guided Karma:
    • In a similar vein to Jared Johnson, the host of the original version of Season 1, they're both arrested in the finale after killing multiple animals.
    • In the third episode of All-Stars, Derek sadistically suggests to add sharks and eels to the challenge. However, while doing so, he apparently forgot he's one of the interns and thus has to test the challenge.
  • Moment Killer: While apparently accidental, Derek interrupts a romantic moment between Tom and Jake when he tells the contestants a challenge will start.
  • Mr. Exposition: As the hosts of the show, they explain how challenges work.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: The second episode of All-Stars suggests Trevor feels terrible about killing many animals in the remake of season one; while working on a challenge that involved helping animals, he states it'll help him "ease [his] conscience a little" and looks sad as he says that.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: Since they're not contestants, the campers never directly confront them during any of the challenges, and Tom was sent to investigate them and their criminal connections with Jensen.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite his less-than stellar traits, Derek tells Miriam after she wins that her prize money is "well-earned" when giving it to her.
  • Sadist: Unlike Trevor, Derek is a more typical host of the show who revels in the contestants' misery and pain.
  • Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: During the water fight challenge, Derek only lets the Purple Team to fight with wooden sticks or with their fists while the Teal Team can use jousting sticks, but once Lill uses Gabby's jousting stick to knock her off the platform and win a point, Derek lets the Purple Team keep the point despite Dan's protests because it must have hurt.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Trevor (sensitive) and Derek (manly).
  • Spanner in the Works: By showing the voting confessionals in Episode 8, Derek reveals the Big Bad Ensemble trio's strategy, which the remaining contestants would struggle to figure out for the time being otherwise.
  • Those Two Guys: It's extremely rare to see them apart from each other, and even rarer to see one of them alone without the other one showing up soon after.
  • Villainous Breakdown: When he realizes he's going to be arrested for his animal cruelty, Derek starts losing it and pulls out a gun. However, he calms down after Gabby beats him up.
  • Villains Want Mercy: While being arrested, Trevor tries to beg Miriam to use her winnings to bail him and Derek out of jail. Of course, she shuts this down immediately.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Derek has a surprisingly high, teenage like voice for a man who's 29.

The Bus Driver/The Production Assistant
Beta poster and design
Voiced by: Brave Oe (Beta, English), Jairo Ordaz (Ordartz) (Spanish), L.J. Aitken (English)additional VAs
Label: The Bus Driver/The Production Assistant

Sometimes looks can deceive, but is that the case with him? Unfortunately, you won't have a nice chat with him. What we know about him is that he is quite scary, intelligent and. dangerous. So what do you think, would you like to buddy up with him?

  • Adaptational Curves: He is a lot stronger and brawny than in the original version of the first season.
  • Adaptational Villainy: His beta self kidnapped Chris McLean, which is pretty bad, but the remake makes him complicit in killing animals around the camp to make the show safer to film, which puts actual blood in his hands.
  • Bad Guys Do the Dirty Work: He's the one tasked with kidnapping Chris McLean in the beta and killing forest animals to make recording the show safer in the remaster of Season 1.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: At least in the beta version of Season 1. He flees away from the police with either winner's prize money and is never caught. Downplayed in the remastered version where he still manages to run away from the law, but this time the prize money is successfully taken away from him.
  • Karma Houdini: In the original Adventure Camp, he flees from the police on a bus with either winner's money prize and is never seen getting caught. While Tom manages to take the prize money back in the remake, his final fate is left unknown.
  • Moment Killer: Subverted. He interrupts a kiss between Gabby and Ellie when he arrives on the Bus of Losers to pick up the former (though it didn't seem intentional). However, they soon kiss anyway.
  • Never Found the Body: He drives the bus off a cliff during his escape from the police. Though Tom survived this by jumping off right before the bus went over, there is no mention of what happened to Jensen, and Oliver confirms to Kristal that they never found his body.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Jensen has an outright permanent scowl on his face at all times. The only time he smiles is in the beta where he watches the news about the aftermath of Disventure Camp while hiding from the police.
  • Uncertain Doom: In the remake it's stated that following him driving the Bus of Losers off a cliff after attempting to run away from the law, his body was never found, and nobody knows what became of him.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: His whereabouts by the time of the second season is completely unknown in both versions of Season 1. In the remake epilogue, Oliver tells Kristal that his body was never found.

    Kristal

The New Host
All-Stars
Voiced by: Noemy Cyrman (Spanish), Poulette Aref (English)
Label: The New Host

Kristal is the daughter of one of the most famous reality TV hosts of our time and always has been in his shadow, even if they don't have the best relationship. Disventure Camp will be Kristal's first appearance on TV, and she wants to break the legacy of her father and host in a different way.

  • Abusive Parents: Her father is Chris McLean, that's self-explanatory. Downplayed in that while she knew he was her father, his involvement in her life was minimal due to his job and all she had to know him by was her mom and TV.
  • Bad Boss: She only treats Oliver slightly better than her father did his interns; she has him work overnight on challenges, yells at him when she gets frustrated, and tends to ignore his advice or attempts to rein her in, despite that being the reason she hired him in the first place. This eventually leads to her firing Oliver, leaving Kristal to do the handywork herself and come to realize how much she needed him in the first place.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Her version of the typical shirt worn by Total Drama's host and interns is a more feminine one also worn by Dakota from that show.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": She yells at Lake to shut up when she refuses to take off her wig for the Queen challenge.
  • Didn't Think This Through: In a moment of frustration against Oliver, she fires him on the spot, even though he's been in charge of creating the challenges for the contestants. Since Marcus and Nina are too busy with the bus, Kristal is forced to make the challenges herself, and it doesn't take long for her to realize she needs Oliver back ASAP.
  • Doom It Yourself: Kristal brushes off Oliver’s claims of how hard his job is and how unfair the treatment and workload she gives him is, but once he quits and it’s on her to build the challenges, she has to feel the workload herself. However, she proves to be an absolutely terrible handywoman when everything ends up breaking in the next challenge; the dodgeball runs out of air, one of the platforms collapses, and her ball turret ends up stalling and firing haphazardly. By the next episode where she can’t even get the go-karts for a planned challenge to work, she’s forced to admit that she underestimated how hard the job was.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Kristal has her own streak of sadism and, being a host, it's practically her job to put the contestants through the wringer in order to get the most ratings, but after Season 2 she's comes to see Oliver as a genuine friend and values his opinion.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Despite her cruelty, she initially doesn't want to end up going as low as her father did back when he hosted the show. This can be seen when, after making a mean comment regarding Oliver's mistake at the relay race, she comments how it sounded like something her father would say, and seems to regret it a bit before ignoring it.
  • Evil Is Bigger: Easily the tallest member of the production crew of Season 2, and without Oliver around to rein her in, she proves to be just as sadistic as the typical host.
  • Evil Is Sterile: Downplayed. Of the first few challenges of Season 2, the relay race is the only one with notable creativity to it. Episode 2's challenge is a slightly tamer Awake-A-Thon, episode 3's challenge involves the contestants kissing, episode 4's challlenge is a simple trivia quiz, and episode 5's challenge was gonna be a talent show before Kristal said "screw it" and turned it into the Queen's Game, with her as the queen.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: One of the signs that trying to be nicer as per Oliver's request is taking a toll on her are her getting some notable eyebags, which become quite notable by episode 10 of Season 2.
  • Family Theme Naming: Her name is Kristal and she's the daughter of Chris McLean.
  • Generation Xerox: Just like her father before her, Kristal works as a sadistic TV show host who puts her contestants through dangerous challenges. Though to Kristal's credit, she has enough self-awareness to recognize the trope and hure Oliver to try to rein her in. Keyword being try.
  • Hates Their Parent: Let's just say her father and she don't exactly see eye-to-eye. In fact, her difficult relationship with her father is what allows her and Lake to bond to an extent.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: Her treatment of Oliver and Marcus is considerably better in All Stars but she is still a big sadist willing to do anything for the ratings not caring about the campers safety.
  • Impossible Hourglass Figure: The best example, having the most voluptuous body out of all the girls with slim physiques which is more visible when she wears her bikini.
  • Lack of Empathy: Just like her father, Kristal isn't the most empathetic person with the contestants, though she at least has Oliver around to keep her in check and not go overboard. For just one example, the Queen's game has her take away Riya's perfume, her most valuable object, while she has Ally, Lake, and Tess burn her gaming consoles, books, and medication respectively.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: Both her and her father have hosted reality shows, are arrogant, have Screw the Rules, I Make Them! moments, and possess sadistic streaks.
  • Missing Mom: We all know who her father is, but her mother doesn't get a single mention. When Lake asks about her, Kristal simply says that her father never told her anything about her mother.
  • Ms. Exposition: As the hostess of the show, Kristal's job is to inform the campers about the episode's challenge, how it works, and what they have to do to win.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's a busty and leggy voluptuous woman who exposes her cleavage, bares her midriff, wears a short skirt, a bikini in two episodes, and a rather revealing short dress in the finale.
  • Never My Fault: Much like her father, Kristal would sooner deflect blame onto someone else than admit to her own mistakes and cruelty. Even when it became apparent that she couldn’t build challenges on her own the way Oliver could, she initially refused to go out and apologize to him or hire a new intern because doing so would mean admitting that Oliver was right to call her out. It takes Marcus and Nina confronting her and Marcus telling her that there’s no shame in admitting when we’ve messed up for her to finally swallow her pride and go out to look for Oliver.
  • Odd Friendship: A rather subtle one, but she develops one with Lake, an initially timid contestant who's nothing like her, after their heart-to-heart conversation about their problems with their parents. Made even more ironic, given that Lake was the one who delivered "The Reason You Suck" Speech to her during the Queen challenge, triggering the hostess to end it.
  • Pet the Dog: She has her moments of displaying a heart underneath her sadism, which later gets lampshaded.
    • Lets Oliver stay on the show as an intern after his elimination and eventually acknowledges his worth and apologizes for treating him badly, even promoting him to challenge supervisor for the next season.
    • After a heart-to-heart conversation with Lake about their problems with their parents, she refuses to let Lake leave the show per the demands of the latter's father.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: In the second episode of All-Stars, she helps repopulate a forest. However, this seemed to be more because she wanted to reduce the chances of her getting in trouble with the law should the camp be inspected rather than kindness.
  • Sadist: She enjoys others' sufferings. Her sadism is sometimes even on par with her father, Chris McLean, much to her dismay.
  • Sanity Slippage: She knows about how sadistic her father became, so she has her intern let her know when to be rational towards the campers. However, she starts to ignore her plan and becomes sadistic and ratings hungry like her father. This comes to a head when Oliver gives her a "The Reason You Suck" Speech and quits, and the next episodes give her a big dose of humble pie when she’s forced to see how hard an intern's job really is under her employ.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: She manages to convince the nun watching over Fiore to let her join the jet by giving her a wad of cash.
  • Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: Not as often as her father, but she still has her moments. Examples include announcing a double elimination last-minute in Episode 3 for no real reason, letting Hunter win in Episode 7 even though Lake had completed the challenge before him even if her ring fell off quickly afterwards, and deciding that Hunter wins in Episode 9 for being the only person to cross the finish line, ignoring the fact that he lost his partner along the way and accidentally got his blindfold taken off.
  • Schrödinger's Canon: She was the biological daughter of Chris McLean in the show before every explicit influence from Total Drama was removed, but nothing indicates this is no longer the case.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Part of her arc in Season 2 involves becoming nicer to Oliver, the one character she tasked to keep her in line, and after firing him for a while and coming to realize how much she actually needs him, not only does she swallow her pride and apologizes to him, but even makes him the challenge supervisor for the next season.
  • Women Are Wiser: Played With. On the one hand, Kristal can be every bit as sadistic and impulsive as the previous hosts on this show. On the other hand, she's not only aware of this, but even asks Oliver to act as a Morality Chain to her in order to keep her line.

    Marcus and Nina

The Bus Driver and his Puppet
All-Stars
Marcus Voiced by: Julian Alfon (Spanish), Scott Phantasm (English)
Nina Voiced by: Daiannie Vera (Spanish), Natosaosa (English)
Label: The Bus Driver and his Puppet

Marcus is a man of few words, often letting his puppet Nina do most of the talking. And while Nina is a puppet, she often seems to have a mind of her own, and a rather sadistic one at that…

  • Ambiguous Situation: Though she looks at first like a ventriloquist puppet, Nina can be seen talking and moving on her own even when Marcus isn't around. Whether she's a Demonic Dummy or maybe a highly advanced robot controlled by someone is currently unknown.
  • Berserk Button: Don't take Nina without Marcus's permission. He'll threaten to take off your fingers if you do so.
  • Big Ol' Unibrow: Marcus is the only character with a unibrow, quite big at that.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Nina, Marcus' puppet, has a lot of rude comments to say to everyone, and enjoys being a sadist.
  • Cool Shades: Marcus wears them all the time. Might overlap with Sinister Shades since they add to the somewhat unnerving mysteriousness of his character.
  • Creepy Doll: Nina looks rather uncanny, especially when she talks and walks on her own without Marcus around.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Episode 8 gives them a lot of focus as the two host the challenge.
  • Demonic Dummy: Basically Nina's stereotype.
  • Demoted to Extra: While initially set up as the co-host of the show, Marcus (and Nina as well as a result) gets less screentime the moment Oliver becomes an intern since their roles are mostly interchangeable, except for Marcus also driving the bus. This becomes noticeable when Marcus and Nina get the aforementioned A Day in the Limelight in one of the episodes during which Oliver is missing.
  • Good All Along: Downplayed as she isn’t exactly Good per say but Nina isn’t actually interested in murdering the campers despite what the Killer Challenge implied. Marcus is especially rather affable, provided that his Berserk Button isn't pressed.
  • Good Hair, Evil Hair: Has a long and curly beard with a mustache which adds to the mysteriousness and untrustworthiness of his character.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: It's left ambiguous whether Nina is a Demonic Dummy or just some sort of advanced AI/robot controlled by someone.
  • Never Bareheaded: Marcus is never seen without his hat.
  • Older Than They Look: Marcus is 55, but he still has solid blonde hair. He is a few years older than Jensen, whose hair is already completely grey.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Nina's irises turn red when she claims Episode 8 will be the last one in the recap.
  • Sadist: When given the chance to host the show, Nina proves herself to be as sadistic as her predecessors.
  • Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: During Nina's time as the hostess of the show, she lets an eliminated player return and allows two contestants who failed the challenge to win immunity alongside the "killer," ordering said returning player to choose Ally and Hunter specifically, so as to increase the drama among the cast.
  • Spanner in the Works: Per above, by telling Karol to share her immunity with Ally and Hunter, Nina effectively switched the target of elimination for the episode, forcing the alliance between Aiden and James and the trio of Lake, Riya, and Rosa Maria to vote for one of them, allowing the remaining alliances to be balanced and thus ensuring more drama.

The Intern
All-Stars
Voiced by: Barnabya (Spanish), Michael Kim (English)
Label: The Intern
Team: Orange Team
Placement: 14th
Eliminated in: Episode 1

Oliver is one of the previous season's former interns. Kristal took pity on him and decided to choose him for the new season after he auditioned. Oliver has worked for the host’s family since he finished high school and his low-paying job has taken up most of his time.

  • Acrofatic: For someone of his size and height, Oliver is the fastest runner in the cast when he reaches the campgrounds first and is about to win the foot-race portion of the challenge for the Orange Team until his panic attack kicked in. Given the physically demanding nature of his minimum-wage jobs, he must always be on his feet if he wants to maintain them.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Oliver wasn't present in the original first season, but became a Recurring Extra when it got rebooted.
  • Ascended Extra: A lowly, low-paying intern of the previous season to a contestant in the next which didn't last long when he was eliminated first. However, Oliver's actual big break is when he was hired back as an intern for Kristal and essentially became her trusty co-host and moral conscience. He was later promoted to production manager at the end of the season.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: Has one of the biggest eyebrows of the cast.
  • Black Bead Eyes: The only one in the second season and the second person after Dan series-wide to have dots for eyes for his character design.
  • Call-Forward: Oliver mentions to Kristal in season two that he doesn't want Disventure Camp to shut down and not be broadcasted for years a second time because of the host's shady behaviour. Since he personally experienced this as an intern working there with the first season rebooted and aired in achronological order, it would be a matter of time before the fate of Tipiskaw Camp comes to be.
  • Character Tic: He does a rock-and-roll hand sign whenever he's excited about something.
  • The Conscience: Upon Kristal's request, Oliver tries reigning her sadistic tendencies to keep the competition relatively safe but alas his efforts are shut down when Kristal lets all power of being the Game Show Host go to her head anyway. She finally starts listening to Oliver after driving him away and production goes immediately south without him.
  • Demoted to Extra: An interesting case since he's an Ascended Extra chronologically but for airing order, Oliver goes from having a major role as Kristal's assistant in the second season to brief cameos as the nameless intern demonstrating the challenges in the first season.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: He does decently during the last stretch of the relay race, only to see a hallucination of his previous boss halfway there, causing him to drop his flag and beg a tree for mercy. This never happens to him again, even as he goes on to work as an intern.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Due to the first season rebooting after the second season finished airing, Oliver frequently cameos in the former as the intern demonstrating the challenges to those watching the show in chronological order.
  • Guest Fighter: Since there was an uneven number of competitors, he temporarily rejoined the game in "Sabotage Below Zero" to assist Karol in the blindfolded sled challenge. Even though he used to be a contestant, he has been an intern for far longer to count as the trope.
  • Hallucinations: This is how he winds up losing the delay race; just as he's reaching the finish line, he suddenly gets a hallucination of his former boss, which causes him to beg him, actually a tree, for forgiveness long enough for Riya to cross the finish line and win the challenge. This never happens to him again, even as an intern.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: Serves as this to Kristal once he becomes an intern. While he does have his limits and is shown to struggle a lot, the challenges are always up and running no problem when the time to do them comes. This becomes more pronounced once Kristal loses her temper and fires him before he quits, leaving Kristal alone to make the challenges and their setpieces and proving that she's terrible at it. So much so that she goes to Oliver to apologize to him and hire him back.
  • The Load: His panic attacks is a huge hindrance to his team and challenge performance which is why he was eliminated first. The opposite is true when working as an intern, however.
  • Mirror Character: He's this to Jared Johnson from the original version of Season 1, Adventure Camp. Both used to work as interns for Chris McLean. However, while Jared was fired for a petty reason and orchestrated his Revenge to avenge not being able to afford medication for his mother, Oliver got to be a contestant before being hired as an intern for another season, having a much better relationship with the new hostess of the show, even acting as her The Conscience by helping her grow as a person and learn to respect him.
  • Morality Chain: Invoked. One of the clauses that Kristal gives Oliver when he becomes her intern, which she tells him in private, is to act as a sort of conscience to rein her in when she starts becoming too sadistic during her challenges.
  • Nervous Wreck: Oliver tends to freak out at the sight of his past and can be scared of Kristal at times.
  • Nice Guy: He's very patient with people, and unless pushed, he's a pretty friendly guy.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: The Nice to Kristal's Mean and Marcus and Nina's In-Between as he looks after the contestants' safety and tries acting as The Conscience for Kristal's more sadistic behaviour.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: We never do end up seeing who was his former boss during the hallucination that costs him the relay race.
  • Older Than He Looks: He has the appearance and height of a Tiny Schoolboy which could mislead you into thinking he's 16 or even younger. However, his character bio mentions he not only already finished high school, but spent years working as an intern for Total Drama and then the previous season of this show afterwards which would put his age somewhere in his late twenties.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Kristal sometimes shuts down Oliver's suggestions to tone down the more dangerous and sadistic aspects of the competition by reminding him of how he got eliminated first so he shouldn't be one to talk.
  • Out of Focus: In All-Stars he takes a bit of a backseat when compared to the other members of the crew.
  • Put on the Bus: Once he has enough of Kristal's growing sadism, Oliver leaves midway through "Broke & Back Mountain" after the host fired him and spends the next two episodes offscreen finding his way to the hotel where the eliminated contestants reside.
  • Rank Up: Season 2 ends with Oliver being promoted to the Challenge supervisor, ensuring that the challenges are safe for the contestants.
  • Recurring Extra: Oliver appears in every episode of the first season but is greatly reduced to silent cameos as the intern demonstrating the challenges during the hosts' explanation.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Kristal not only ignoring him for the umpteenth time but firing him for standing up to her causes Oliver to straight up quit his job and go out of the camp to do some soul searching.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: To Dan, who were both beady-eyed, glasses and hoodie-wearing nerds that got eliminated first but became Ascended Extras.
  • Tempting Fate: Oliver's first confessional is dripping with Irony after he became the first eliminated in the season:
Oliver: I will make my team victorious! After years of well-deserved failures of low-paying jobs, I'll finally do something that will be remembered!
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Over the course of the season, he is allowed to stay as an intern after his elimination, Kristal apologizes to him for treating him badly and acknowledges his importance Connor offers him a job as a manager after the show is over, and gets a job as the production manager for the next season of the show.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: The Tiny Guy to Kristal's Huge Girl. Kristal is as tall and developed as you'd expect from a full-grown woman, while Oliver doesn't even reach her waist.
  • Token Good Teammate: He's easily the nicest member of the production crew in All-Stars, as Marcus and Nina are more on the neutral side, Emily's implied to be on the nastier side of things, and Kristal's back to her old habits.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Averted as while he's eliminated in the very first episode, Oliver manages to stay on as an intern which allows for his characterisation and relationship with the host to develop. According to the writers, they didn't want to leave Oliver as a disposable character like Dan was in the original season.

Voiced by: Natosaosa (Spanish), Spilled Ink (English)
Label: The Production Assistant

  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Much like Kristal before her, she bears her midriff. It also suggests she's aware of her beauty and is meant to add to her other typically feminine traits, such as her long hair or wearing heavy make-up.
  • The Gadfly: Part of her job is to stir up drama from confessionals and interviews with the cast, so she purposefully goes out of her way to provoke the contestants.
  • Lascivious Beauty Mark: She spots a beauty mark, which is meant to add to her Ms. Fanservice appeal.
  • Makeup Is Evil: Emily wears heavy makeup and she's implied to be one of the nastier production crew members, given how she throws Marcus, Nina, and Oliver off a plane in the opening.
  • Ms. Exposition: This is at least part of how her interviews with the contestants work, catching the audience up on what they've been doing between their seasons and All-Stars.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's quite easy on the eye, fashionable, exposes her cleavage, and bares her midriff, just like Kristal did before her. She also seems aware of her own good looks.
  • Proud Beauty: She's attractive, plus seems aware and proud of this.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Despite debuting in All-Stars, Emily is never really properly introduced to the audience, with Kristal and the contestants acting as if she had always been there.
  • Sadist: In the opening sequence for All-Stars, she pushes her fellow staff members Marcus, Nina, and Oliver off a plane for her own amusement. In the first episode, she does the same thing but to Trevor and Derek instead. She also seems fond of Derek's idea to add sharks and eels to the second challenge (which involves the contestants scuba diving).
