    # — B
  • Abstract Apotheosis: She became an Alicorn goddess of Dark Magic, Potential, and Defiance by defying people's fears and expectations of her as War Rock's daughter, encouraging her students' innate potential despite others trying to suppress it, and using dark magic for good rather than evil.
  • The Ace: Much like her father, War Rock, she's an extremely talented musician — though trained in classical music, she found her place in Symphonic Metal, a then-niche Sub-Genre of Heavy Metal that she revolutionized after discovering it. She has a great auditory memory despite not being a Music deity like some of her friends, and can improvise and compose new songs entirely from scratch. Her music videos from the Second Age were artistically elaborate as well. She is a talented violinist and has a Magitek violin named Sfida, which she uses as a channeling point for her magic in order to weave complex spells. Her 'Ace' status is what made her a 'prodigy deity' after Ascending, with abnormally accelerated physical and magical growth rates on top of the massive growth spurt she had in her foalhood.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Blue Suede Heartstrings calls her "Lil' Winny" or "Winny". Even after becoming a Prince and later a King, he still does it.
  • All Witches Have Cats: She has a pet cat, Mitzi, who is her Familiar and an ancient yet benevolent 'divine creature' from the Second Age. She got rather annoyed upon hearing of the stereotype that all witches who own cats like her are evil or, at best, weird and creepy.
Princess Winter Opera: Yes, I am a witch. And yes, I have a pet cat. Shut up.
  • Animate Dead: With dark magic, she can raise the dead, but she avoids using it often so she wouldn't anger Death deities. She does allow her followers to practice necromancy, as it has the potential to be used for good, but advises them to be cautious in wielding such magic.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's an Alicorn goddess who embodies Dark Magic, Potential, and Defiance.
  • The Archmage: Much like War Rock, her birth father, she's talented in dark magic. In her mortal youth, this made her a target for both supervillains like Overmare who were interested in her great power, and puristic superheroes who believed she's a potential threat due to her heritage. After Ascending to godhood, she became a goddess of Dark Magic, giving her access to elemental spells as well as other branches of magic that are mostly considered 'dark', like necromancy. Fortunately, Luminiferous taught her how to use her dark magic for good, influencing her to become a benevolent goddess and witch. While mostly a controversial figure in Equestria due to her domain, she's also famous for her good deeds; Knowing Child, an aspiring witch herself, was shocked to discover that she would be learning under her.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: She would receive one from a disguised Luminiferous during their first meeting — after she angrily and bitterly accused Luminiferous for claiming to understand her situation of being ostracized for being a villain's daughter, Luminiferous reveals his true Alicorn form and explains to her that he is the clone/'son' of Morning Star, which also caused him no shortage of grief. This horrifies Winter Opera into realizing that she judged Luminiferous unfairly as others had done to her, and she starts sobbing and blubbering apologies from the guilt.
  • Badass Boast: While meeting the resurrected War Rock for the first time in person, she taunts that the only thing separating them is that she's a goddess, while her father lucked out and became a Vampire Lord instead. This infuriates War Rock into wanting to kill his daughter.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: She's an Alicorn goddess who embodies Dark Magic, but she's also a benevolent and nurturing person who enjoys teaching others. It's deconstructed in that her powers made her the subject of distrust and ostracism among superheroes who knew War Rock when he was alive and expected his daughter to become evil like him, especially with supervillains trying to recruit her for nefarious means. And by her own admission, she finds the idea of researching her own powers to unfettered extremes incredibly tempting, which worsened when she became a goddess. Thankfully she has lots of friends to rein in her worst impulses, including her mentors Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings. It's also noted many of her spells are not 'dark' in themselves, as it's how they're used that makes her spells 'dark'.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness: She's an incredibly beautiful Alicorn goddess whose natural beauty could rival Beauty deities like Princess Praline, despite not being one herself. She's a benevolent and nurturing mare who is incredibly sympathetic towards those who were bullied/ostracized like she was, and a good teacher who tries cultivating her students' full potential despite facing people Abusive Parents. Ironically, many believed she was destined to be evil by virtue of being one of War Rock's illegitimate daughters, but she defied them and became a hero thanks to the love and support of her mentors and loved ones.
  • Big Good: She eventually became a joint-member of the Church of the Stars upon learning that Blue Suede Heartstrings/Caerulus Melodia Equestria is there, partially to look after her mentor's wellbeing. As one of the Church's main requirements is a willingness to teach others, Winter Opera's experiences and love for teaching made her qualified for membership.
  • Blessed with Suck: She saw her divinity as this. Besides outliving all of her mortal loved ones, she found it incredibly easy to manipulate her fans into doing whatever she wanted, which gave her some understanding as to why War Rock wanted to become a god in the first place.
  • Blood-Splattered Innocents: She got drenched when a bucket of blood got dumped on her in the middle of one of her concerts as part of a cruel prank to humiliate her for being War Rock's daughter. Although her friends and mentors were furious over what happened, she instead chose to improvise and compose a song dedicated to both War Rock's victims and the heroes who killed her father. She received a standing ovation for her performance while her detractors (the ones behind the prank) were humiliated.
  • Blow You Away: Her Dark Magic domain gives her air-based spells.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Pun aside, she's an Alicorn goddess whose azure-blue mane and tail are made of rippling Dark Magic energy. She's also a Goth who wears a blue and black ball gown adorned with blue roses, and her Cool Crown is made of blue roses. She's also a benevolent goddess who, despite being the daughter of a villain, managed to overcome her heritage and do many good deeds, which allowed her to Ascend to godhood and fulfill the potential that her father squandered. For bonus points, one of her mentors who helped her Ascend is King Caerulus Melodia Equestria-Corporatum, formerly known as Blue Suede Heartstrings.
  • Broken Pedestal: Discovering that Blue Suede Heartstrings had been suppressing his own traumas and negative traits for three Ages, with her and others contributing to them knowingly/unknowingly, hit her pretty hard and left her feeling guilty over not noticing his mentor's problems sooner. However, she refused to let her feelings get in the way of helping Blue Suede when he needed it most, which played a role in freeing Blue Suede from the Colonel and making him accept his pride. That being said, while she and Blue Suede — now King Caerulus Melodia Equestria-Corporatum — still remained very good friends afterwards, she now knows that her mentor is not perfect and tries to help him with his problems as best as she can. She also sought out psychiatric help from Mentálne in order to deal with her guilt over not noticing Blue Suede's problems sooner.
  • Bucket Booby-Trap: She once had a bucket of blood dumped on her by a group of detractors in the middle of one of her concerts. Although it was for a cruel prank designed to humiliate her (by covering her with the 'blood' of War Rock's victims), Winter Opera instead used the opportunity to compose a song that she dedicated to War Rock's victims and the heroes who killed her villainous father. The fact that she didn't snap from the prank at all is impressive and a testament to how well Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings taught her.

    C — E
  • Celibate Hero: Justified, as she's asexual. It's deconstructed; when she came out, she ended up attracting a lot of negative attention from those who felt entitled to her beauty and sought to 'fix' her. Fortunately, many of her friends and family (including her Ascendant half-siblings) are willing to defend her, and she gained support in those who previously hid their asexuality for fear of discrimination.
  • Close to Home:
    • She hates people who judge and attack others for the wrong reasons, whether because of Sins of Our Fathers or Fantastic Racism, as she went through the same thing as a mortal. Because of this, she is a fierce enemy of judicial extremist factions like the Poenan Pantheon, and racial/tribal supremacist factions like Tribalists and Autorists. Princess Radiant Rapier mistreating her friend Princess Opera Tide for being an Oceanaiad despite not being involved in her people's destruction of the Third Age led to Winter Opera chewing out the former for her judicial hypocrisy.
    • She hates being accused of being compared to villains of any kind. Because she was constantly expected (even by some superheroes of the Second Age) to follow in War Rock's hoofsteps when she was younger, she prides herself in being her own person and succeeding where War Rock didn't, so being compared to her birth father is a quick way to anger her. When High King Irminsul accused her of being like Grogar I just for embodying Dark Magic, she eviscerates him with a furious tirade that leaves him shaken by the end.
  • Color-Coded Eyes: She has azure-green eyes, something she inherited (along with her azure-blue hair) from her birth mother, Mint Delight. She's a beautiful Alicorn goddess who defies the in-universe stereotype of Wicked Witches by being a benevolent witch and goddess of Dark Magic. She also prides herself on not being like her villainous birth father and hates those who demonize her in relation to her heritage and/or her talents in dark magic. Her eyes also make her "exotic" in the sense that she is a living representation of what War Rock wanted, yet ultimately failed to get: Godhood and the undying admiration of his audience/worshipers.
  • Cool Crown: She usually wears a 'crown' of blue roses, similar to Sola Mors' red rose crown. However, it's noted that she's known to wear stylish hats as well.
  • Cuteness Proximity:
    • Her love for bentos started when she spotted some Kyaraben bentos in a bento shop during an overseas tour in Neighpon, and thought they were adorable.
    • Both she and Healing Song fawned over Blue Suede/Caerulus Melodia's adorable infant son, Prince Perfect Tone, while the latter was feeding.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Pun aside, her past was full of hardships. She's an illegitimate daughter of War Rock, but was unaware of this as she was put up for adoption after she was born. Her relations and beauty got her scorned and bullied by both foals and adults alike because she was a living reminder of War Rock's actions, with even some superheroes of the Age expecting her to follow in her father's hoofsteps due to War Rock being a villain. Out of spite, she turned to dark magic so she can Pay Evil unto Evil, kicking off an argument with her parents that would lead to her taking a DNA test. She learned that War Rock really is her birth father, prompting her to run away from home. Luckily, Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings would enter her life and help her, but she still had to put up with people blaming her for War Rock's actions and supervillains trying to recruit her for her skills in dark magic. After years of good deeds, she Ascended to godhood, gaining the immortality that War Rock craved, but some people accused her of doing it so she can be worshiped forever. As she told a disgusted and horrified Queen Eclaira some centuries later, she wished she was ugly for a time so people wouldn't bully her anymore.
  • Dark Is Not Evil:
    • Despite being a Goth Alicorn goddess who possesses the domain of Dark Magic, she's actually similar to Luminiferous in origin, being benevolent and heroic offspring of notorious villains who wasted their own potential for good by becoming evil out of selfishness. They even have similar domains like Potential and Defiance/Self-Determination. She acknowledges this In-Universe, believing that even those who are assumed to be "bad" like her have potential to do good.
Princess Winter Opera: Even 'bad' creatures like me have potential to do good, no matter who they're born to. And buck those who say or think otherwise!
    • This can also apply to her religion, the Order of the Blue Rose. Despite its adherents being practitioners of dark magic who wear black and/or blue clothes/armor in emulation of their patron goddess, they're heroic and principled because of the standards that were designed to prevent them from abusing their power and going mad in the process.
  • Deity of Human Origin: She was once a mortal Earth pony who eventually became an Alicorn goddess. It's noted that Ascending to godhood was something her father War Rock could've done himself if he simply swallowed his pride and changed for the better. She also rubs this in War Rock's face after he's resurrected in the Fourth Age by Mistletoe Dreamer, stating that despite being a powerful vampire lord now, he'll always be lesser compared to his daughter, who is a legitimate goddess. Naturally, War Rock flew into a rage afterwards.
  • De-power: One of her powers granted by her Dark Magic domain. Much like Kúzelník and Princess Twilight/Amicitia, she can strip her victims of their magic indefinitely.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Played for laughs in one incident. She once approached Healing Song and asked for his opinion on a dress Princess Praline made for her... only to realize too late that Healing Song is blind and facehoofs over her blunder. She even lampshades this.
Princess Winter Opera: Hey, Healey! What do you think of this dress? Praline made it for me.
Prince Healing Song: I think it looks pretty great, Winter!
Princess Winter Opera: Why thank... (realizes that Healing Song is blind) you...
    Prince Healing Song: Hehehehehehe!
Princess Winter Opera: ...Ugh, I should've KNOWN this would happen...!
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Her Dark Magic domain gives her earth-based spells.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Her entry ends on this note. After living much of her life as a target of scorn and bullying for being a daughter of the villainous War Rock, and enduring much tragedy and hardship (including nearly losing one of her divine mentors to his own traumas and flaws), she would Ascend to godhood and join the Equestrian Pantheon, after which she would found a successful Order of benevolent Black Mages and enjoy a beloved (if controversial) reputation.
  • Elegant Classical Musician: Double-subverted. She's an extremely talented musician who was trained in (and inspired by) classical music as a filly, and she behaves like a refined mare with Silk Hiding Steel traits. However, her Proper Lady behavior is a stage persona she puts up whenever she performs live, and she's much more casual with her friends. That being said, it's noted that she still can be well-mannered and composed at times.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: As a Goth, she often wears fancy ball gowns onstage as part of her stage persona as a Proper Lady, with her most prominent outfit being a blue and black ball gown adorned with blue roses and a Cool Crown made of blue roses. She's more casual off-stage, but she can still be well-mannered and composed at times.
  • Elemental Powers: Her Dark Magic domain gives her elemental spells like fire, water, earth, and air. However, she has a strong preference for ice and lightning spells.
  • The Empath: Being a goddess of Dark Magic gives her empathic powers, though she's less powerful than purely psychic deities like Mentálne and Emperor Golden Scepter.
  • Evil Counterpart: Inverted.
    • She's the good version of her Mirrorverse counterpart, who is implied to be an evil daughter of the Alicorn god Peaceful Paladin, the good version of War Rock. When Peaceful Paladin meets Winter Opera in person, he sincerely expresses his wish that his own daughter is more heroic like her.
Peaceful Paladin: Kid... I, like, wish my girl was like you.
      Princess Winter Opera: ...The same.
    • She's also a good counterpart to Queen Eclaira. Aside from being a victim of bullying and abuse for completely different reasons (Winter Opera for being born beautiful, Eclaira for being born 'ugly'), Winter Opera represents what happens if Eclaira actually overcame her terrible foalhood and psychological issues in healthier ways, used her great beauty and powers for benevolent ends, and Ascended to godhood with a heroic morality.

    F — I
  • Face Palm: She facehoofed when she asked Healing Song for his opinion on a dress Princess Praline made for her, only to realize too late that Healing Song is blind.
  • The Fashionista: Besides her Goth fashion tastes, she loves trying on new dresses in general. One incident had her receive and try on a dress Princess Praline made for her, only to make the mistake of asking Healing Song (who is blind) for his opinion on it.
  • Flower Motifs: She's associated with blue roses, which are on her ball gown and flower crown. Due to blue roses being artificially colored, they represent mystery and/or attaining the impossible. Despite being War Rock's daughter, she broke away from his villainous legacy in healthy ways thanks to her mentors Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings, and achieved her dream of becoming a musician in defiance of negative public expectations of her. Eventually, her heroic deeds and character allowed her to Ascend to godhood, giving her the immortality that War Rock died trying to obtain for himself.
  • Foil:
    • To Sola Mors: Both are Alicorn goddesses who wear Gothic clothing, except Winter Opera is a musician while Sola Mors is an actress. Winter Opera acts like a refined Proper Lady onstage as part of her stage persona, and can still be well-mannered and composed at times, whereas Sola Mors is an emotionally wild Large Ham. Both suffered vicious bullying as mortals, except Winter Opera was bullied for the actions of someone else (in her case, her villainous birth father, War Rock) whereas Sola Mors was bullied for traits that made her eccentric and "weird" such as her Large Ham tendencies. Sola Mors also represents what happens if Winter Opera didn't have people to support her during her darkest moments and instead gave into her desire for revenge — after committing suicide, Sola Mors came back as a Vengeful Ghost who tried rounding up everyone who was involved in her bullying, even in the smallest ways, so she could publicly execute them. Her would-be victims were saved when Blue Suede and Bossa Nova talked her out of it and made her remember her happiest memories, making her realize that she became a monster.
    • To Prince Crystal Clear: Both are children of (in)famous prodigy musicians, except Winter Opera is an illegitimate biological daughter of War Rock, a villainous mortal, while Crystal is an adoptive son of Blue Suede Heartstrings, a heroic Alicorn. Both hated their parents, except in Winter Opera's case it was out of anger and bitterness towards being 'damned' just for being related to a villain, while in Crystal's case, it was out of inadequacy and resentment towards everyone pressuring him to become a 'clone' of his father. And while War Rock played a significant role in their lives, Winter Opera spent much of her life breaking away from her father's posthumous legacy, while Crystal joined War Rock (at least for a time, as he was unaware of what War Rock's truly like and immediately betrayed the latter once he learned the truth).
  • Former Teen Rebel: She was once a bitter, angry, and vindictive filly in her teen years, and among the things she did was using dark magic to Pay Evil unto Evil against her bullies and running away from home after discovering she's one of War Rock's illegitimate daughters. It's a very far cry from the heroic, benevolent, and successful Alicorn goddess of Dark Magic, Potential, and Defiance that she is now.
  • Freudian Excuse: Deconstructed. As a teenager, she was angry, bitter, and vindictive, and initially used dark magic to give people hell for bullying her. This came from being constantly bullied by other foals and being looked down upon by both adults and puristic superheroes who believed that she'll someday turn out just like War Rock on account of being his daughter. While her Codex entry does place blame on the public for wrongly judging her based on War Rock's actions, it points out that regardless of her heritage, some of her actions do end up validating people's concerns, such as her use of dark magic as a tool for revenge. She also has the choice to separate herself from her father's legacy and do good things instead; all she needed was just the right push in the right direction.
  • Friendly Rivalry: At one point, she became musical rivals with Princess Belladonna Heartstrings, a biological daughter of her mentor, Blue Suede Heartstrings, and the Canicorn goddess of Poison, Arthropods, and Music. It later evolved to Sibling Rivalry after she became the joint-daughter of Blue Suede and Luminiferous, but they still remained on amicable terms.
Princess Belladona Heartstrongs: So, Winny, looks like we're sisters now.
Princess Winter Opera: Looks like it, Bella.
Princess Belladona Heartstrings: Well, don't expect me to go easy on ya just because you're my big sis now.
Princess Winter Opera: Hehe. Wouldn't expect anything else.
  • Gene Hunting: During a heated argument between them, she begged her adoptive parents to let her taking a DNA test, feeling that finding her birth parents would help her understand why she was constantly bullied and ostracized by everyone around her. While her birth father's identity enraged and embittered her, she also discovered the identity of her birth mother and took great pains to locate her. They had a tearful reunion once she finally found her birth mother.
  • A God Am I: Subverted. While she did brag to War Rock about herself becoming a goddess while he didn't just to get under his skin, she was also telling the truth. Being faced with the fact that one of his illegitimate daughters got the immortality he long sought pissed off War Rock to no end.
  • God Is Good: Despite being a goddess of Dark Magic, she's a benevolent witch who seeks to use it for good and defy social conventions revolving dark magic users like her. She is also a Cool Teacher who believes in her students' potential for greatness and helps them cultivate it by teaching defiance of toxic beliefs/people.
  • Goth Girls Know Magic: While she didn't start wearing Gothic ball gowns until she became a professional musician in adulthood, she was already a talented user of dark magic, something she discovered when she was an angry teenage filly bent on giving her tormentors hell for bullying her. In fact, the fact that she was talented in dark magic worried a lot of people since her birth father, War Rock, was a villain who also used dark magic, and both feared and expected her to turn out like War Rock. Fortunately, Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings would intervene and help guide her onto a better path, influencing her to use dark magic for good and eventually Ascend as the Alicorn goddess of Dark Magic.
  • Groin Attack: In response to Coltalian agents trying to recruit her into service for Overmare, she made it clear that she is not her father, War Rock, and then fried their 'nards' with lightning spells.
  • Happily Adopted:
    • Her adoptive parents, Tone Passion and Gentle String, were far better parents than her birth father, War Rock, would've been, which led to Winter Opera becoming emotionally and morally stable. They also serve as contrasts to War Rock's parents, as while they also encouraged Winter Opera's musical talents/pursuits, they never constantly pushed Winter Opera to succeed and instead let her take breaks and do whatever she wanted in the meantime.
    • Later in the Fourth Age, she would be adopted again, this time by both Luminiferous and Blue Suede/Caerulus Melodia following the latter's crowning. While teaching her, both Luminiferous and Blue Suede/Caerulus came to see her as their own daughter, but while they each wanted her in their respective families, the Luminiferi and Caerulidae, they loved her too much to make her choose sides. They ultimately decided to Take a Third Option by adopting her as their "joint-daughter", much like how she's a joint-member of different pantheons. Her joint-adoption also led to her getting a third father in Blue Suede/Caerulus' husband, Prince Stoltur Skjöldur. Despite this, she has accepted the adoption wholeheartedly, and loves her new adoptive siblings (who love her back).
  • Hates Their Parent: Understandably, she hates her birth father, War Rock, for all the terrible things he did as a villain in life, which made her a target of completely unwarranted scorn, abuse, and bullying from both foals and adults alike. While she prides herself in breaking away from his legacy, she also feels both guilt for her father's crimes and obligation to make up for them however she can. Various people in her life are helping her build up her self-esteem and encouraging her to not pay attention to people's negative opinions of her.
  • Heavenly Blue: She's strongly associated with blue, whether in her physical appearance or her attire, and she's a powerful Alicorn goddess of Dark Magic, Potential, and Defiance. And despite being a witch, her ties to the color blue also pegs her as heroic, since she believes in using dark magic for good. This is in stark contrast to her deceased birth father, War Rock, who is both an Evil Sorcerer and an Evil Red Head who tried and failed to become a god. For bonus points, one of her mentors who helped her Ascend is named Blue Suede Heartstrings. It's noted that her blue mane and tail was inherited from her birth mother, Mint Delight.
  • Heroic Bastard: She was born out of wedlock to War Rock and Mint Delight, and she has hundreds of half-siblings she didn't know of until later as a result of War Rock's hedonism. But unlike her father, an arrogant musical prodigy who became a villain out of narcissism and fear of death, Winter Opera was influenced to become heroic thanks to the presence of benevolent individuals who genuinely meant well for her, and broke out of War Rock's shadow to Ascend to godhood, something that War Rock himself failed to do.
  • Hot God: Gender-inverted. While she was stunningly beautiful in her mortal life, she became even more beautiful after Ascending to godhood. Her entry notes she could potentially rival Beauty deities like Princess Praline, who is very attractive even by divine standards because of her domain.
  • I Am Not My Father: Understandably, she wants nothing to do with War Rock at all due to the horrible things he had done to others in his lifetime, and has pretty much disowned him as her father despite being biologically related to him. When agents of Overmare tried recruiting her for her talents in dark magic, she makes it very clear that she is not War Rock, and fries their 'nards' with lightning spells.
Princess Winter Opera: (to Overmare's agents) Make this very clear to your boss: My father may have worked with you once. But his actions, and his legacy, are NOT mine. I am Winter Opera, and THIS is what I think of your offer!
  • An Ice Person: Her entry notes that she has a strong preference for ice spells as well as lightning spells.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: As she told a horrified and disgusted Queen Eclaira, she was bullied so much for heavily resembling her handsome yet evil and sociopathic father that she wished she was ugly for a time. Fortunately, she would grow out of it thanks to her mentors and loved ones, with deities like Mentálne and Amour-De-Soi building up her self-esteem.
  • Immune to Fate: As a goddess of Defiance, she has the ability to break malicious prophecies and ward off Doom-related powers, which makes her immune to fate by default. This is thematically tied to how she overcame her father's villainous legacy and negative public expectations of her to become a benevolent heroine/goddess.
  • Insult Backfire: She once had a bucket of blood dumped on her in the middle of one of her concerts as part of a cruel prank. The ones responsible, a group of detractors, did it so they could humiliate her in front of her own audience by drenching her with the 'blood' of War Rock's enemies. Instead of breaking as expected, Winter Opera improvised on the spot and composed a song that she dedicated to both War Rock's victims and the heroes who killed her father. Result: Winter Opera received a standing ovation, while her detractors were humiliated.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: A few known friends are younger deities. Sola Mors and Princess Opera Tide are "Tier III"-ranked goddesses.
  • Interspecies Friendship: Some of her divine friends are of different species; Temnobog, Kúzelník, and Phoenix King Naur are divine Deer, and Princess Opera Tide is an Oceanaiad goddess. All of them became her friends over their shared experiences of being abused and ostracized by others for things beyond their control.
  • I Shall Taunt You: Despite being furious with Mistletoe Dreamer for resurrecting War Rock as a vampire lord, she instead chooses to taunt her father by rubbing in his face the fact that she's the one who became a goddess, not him. This succeeds in making War Rock fly into a rage, as his failure to become a god like he wanted is a rather sore spot for him.
Princess Winter Opera: Now now, you may be a powerful vampire, Daddy Dearest, but there is one thing that'll always separate us: I'm you, but a goddess.
War Rock: Grrr... I should have aborted you myself when I had the chance all those years ago!
  • It's All About Me: In-Universe, her act of Ascending to godhood after years of good deeds got her accused of doing it so she could be worshiped forever, like her father War Rock. However, it's actually averted, as her Ascension is a sign that she's not her father at all.
  • It's All My Fault: She blamed herself for not noticing Blue Suede Heartstrings' issues and unknowingly contributing to them, until he snapped and nearly turned into a Fallen Alicorn. Part of the reason why she sought out Mentálne is so she can deal with the trauma that came with the incident.

    J — O
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Deconstructed. As a teenager, she was bitter, angry, and vindictive, and used dark magic to punish her tormentors for bullying her. While she was still a good person then, it's noted that if people like Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings hadn't intervened, she would have eventually become as bad as her birth father, War Rock, which is what many people expected of her. Fortunately, it's averted when Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings became her mentors, influencing her to control her worst flaws/impulses and get out of his shadow in healthier ways.
  • Journey to the Center of the Mind: On advice given by Prince Night Shade, she and a group of friends do this to save Blue Suede Heartstrings from being overtaken by the Colonel after both he and his twin brother, Bossa Nova, fall into a shared Angst Coma thanks to their empathic bond. While they fail in fighting the Colonel, they do succeed in helping Blue Suede defeat it by reminding him of his achievements, which leads to him and Prince Stoltur killing the Colonel together.
  • Karmic Jackpot:
    • While she started off as an angry, bitter, and vindictive teenage filly who doubted her self-worth and place in the world, Winter Opera would meet Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings, who curbed her worst flaws and encouraged her to follow her musical dreams regardless of what people thought of her. She eventually became a famous and beloved professional musician who revolutionized the then-niche Symphonic Metal genre after years of hard work, and she made great efforts to be what her father War Rock was not. She also fought back against the supervillains who tried recruiting her despite being seen as 'evil' by the Second Age's superheroes, and protected her own fans from them. Winter Opera's good deeds eventually allowed her to Ascend to godhood, turning her into an Alicorn and giving her the immortality that her birth father, War Rock, coveted for himself.
    • She herself would later invoke this with her mentor, Blue Suede Heartstrings. After Blue Suede nearly turned into a Fallen Alicorn and fell into a coma shortly after, taking Bossa Nova with him, Winter Opera was among those who repaid all the good things Blue Suede did for them by psychically entering his mind to help him wake up. They encountered the Colonel, and while fighting him didn't work, Winter Opera and her friends encouraged Blue Suede to defy the Colonel and regain his lost pride by reminding him of his achievements. This led to Blue Suede teaming up with Prince Stoltur Skjöldur and killing the Colonel for good with a combined energy attack of Pride and Humility magic. And after Blue Suede becomes a Prince and joins the Equestrian Pantheon, he personally thanks Winter Opera for "everything", after which they shared a hug.
    • Later, she founded the Order of the Blue Rose, a faction of spellcasters that believes in using dark magic for good. Their deeds, as well as her efforts in keeping her followers from becoming corrupted by their power, eventually impressed Princess Amicitia/Twilight enough to legalize the Order as an official religion.
  • Karmic Transformation: As a goddess of Dark Magic, she can use her transformation spells to punish people of wrongdoing.
    • One incident had her curse a group of Poenan deities with horrifying, rotting appearances for trying to punish and kill then-Prince Blue Suede/Caerulus for marrying Stoltur, the Bogolenya Deer-Draconequus god of Pride and Evil. It's noted that the curse is similar to what Pakak did to Sunnytown for murdering an innocent filly out of baseless paranoia.
    • Another incident involved her casting a two-fold curse she created together with Caerulus to punish a group of captured Alicorn Ascendancy scientists for experimenting on Pony foals. The curse turned the scientists into 'Pseudoalicorns', giving them the appearance of true Alicorns, yet left them completely without magic so they wouldn't harm anyone in their new forms. The only way to get out of the curse is to acknowledge their wrongdoing and genuinely atone for their crimes, upon which they'll be turned back to normal with their magic restored. While it drove some scientists to do more horrible things in reversing their curse, the rest denounced the Alicorn Ascendancy as depraved criminals and defected from the organization entirely.
  • Lady of Black Magic: She is an Alicorn goddess of Dark Magic and a Goth who wears lavish ball gowns, though her personality is zigzagged — she has a stage persona where she is a refined Proper Lady, but off-stage she is rather casual with friends and family. That being said, she can still be composed and well-mannered at times, and when teaching, she is very kind and nurturing towards her students. It's justified as while she is skilled in dark magic, she was taught how to approach it with ethics and rightful behavior by Luminiferous.
  • Life Drain: One of her most dangerous abilities is the power to drain the life from her enemies to replenish herself.
  • Like Brother and Sister: Cultura describes her relationship with Prince Healing Song as this. Although Healing Song distrusted Winter at first, he later realized he was wrong to judge Winter prematurely based on what War Rock did, and warmed up to her after personally spending time with her. They bonded over their shared love of music and teaching, and Winter treated him like she does his other friends despite knowing he's blind, something Healing Song appreciates. They're also not above teasing each other, either.
  • Loser Son of Loser Dad: Deconstructed. From her teen years all the way to adulthood, she was bullied and shunned a lot simply for being a daughter of War Rock, a music prodigy who became a villain out of narcissism and fear of death. Fillies spread rumors about her being a Succubus out of jealousy of her beauty, with teachers turning a blind eye towards the bullying because they thought she "deserved it". Even some superheroes expected her to become evil like War Rock did. This initially made her angry, bitter, and vindictive enough to use dark magic to make her tormentors' lives hell, and though Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings helped curb her worst impulses/flaws, she suffered from a lot of issues that stayed with her for three Ages, including the need to redeem herself in the eyes of others for her father's crimes. Fortunately, the benevolent influence of those who did care about her motivated her to rise above her parentage in a healthy manner and became a leading figure in Symphonic Metal, even opposing other supervillains who tried tempting her to their side. Her Ascension to godhood is treated as proof that War Rock's actions and legacy are not hers, as she wouldn't have done so otherwise if she was truly evil as people claimed. However, even that wasn't enough for some people to accuse her of obtaining godhood just to be worshiped forever.
  • Magic Hair: Her mane and tail turned into rippling Dark Magic energy post-Ascension.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Defiant Symphony", due to defying her father's villainous legacy and embodying Defiance as a concept post-Ascension.
  • Making a Splash: Her Dark Magic domain gives her water-based spells.
  • Malicious Slander: As a teenage filly, she became the subject of rumors of her being a Succubus that were spread by other fillies who were jealous of her great beauty. This in part contributed to her bitterness and trauma.
Princess Winter Opera: When I wasn't bullied for looking like my Father, I was shunned for being a Succubus, stealing fillies' boyfriends and making grown stallions weak at the knees.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: Exaggerated and justified.
    • She was one of many illegitimate foals War Rock sired between the height of his career and the last years of his life, and the sheer number of mares War Rock impregnated gave her hundreds of half-brothers and sisters. She first discovered this in her teens, but it wasn't until she became a professional musician that she started reaching out to her half-siblings, donating things to them like wealth and gifts to ensure that they're loved and supported.
    • Later on, she would gain even more siblings from both the Luminiferi and the Caerulidae after being adopted into them by Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings as their "joint daughter".
  • Master of Illusion: As part of her Dark Magic domain, she can cast illusion spells.
  • Meaningful Rename: Defied and averted. While she did choose to take the title of 'Princess' after Ascending in the Second Age, she refused to take an Alicorn name because she felt she would forget the struggles that led to her Ascension. In the Fourth Age, when offered an Alicorn name by Princess Twilight/Amicitia during the divine Equestrian coronation that saw Blue Suede Heartstrings and Bossa Nova Heartstrings become Princes Caerulus Melodia Equestria and Rubeus Stella Equestria, respectively, she declined it again.
  • Mentor Archetype: Much like Prince Healing Song, she's a teacher who loves teaching, though she first discovered it under Luminiferous' tutelage instead of Blue Suede Heartstrings like Healing Song did. She's very nurturing to her students and tries encouraging their fullest potential, but that means defying forbidding, Abusive Parents who want their children's potential squashed for various reasons.
    • In one Codex drabble, Winter Opera became the teacher of a young Knowing Child after Pinkie Pie/Princess Thalia called her in, having discovered that Knowing Child wants to be a good witch but feels insecure about herself. Knowing Child is rather shocked to learn her mentor is both an esteemed witch and Alicorn goddess.
      Moon River: Hey, Knowing-san!
      Knowing Child: Yes?
Moon River: Thalia-sensei heard what you're into and she called in a favor from a friend of hers!
      Knowing Child: (shocked) You're... you're...
Princess Winter Opera: Hey there. Thalia tells me you wanna be a good witch?
    • Winter Opera would also become a mentor for Prince Maestro II/Metal Maestro, who was introduced to her by his clone-sire/'father' Prince Maestro I after the former developed issues over being 'related' to High Roller/Mr. Scratch and being feared/ostracized for it. Winter Opera helped Maestro II overcome his issues and taught him how to play music after he showed talent for it, leading to him becoming a Power Metal musician.
    • Winter Opera's love and experience in teaching led to her becoming a joint-member of the Church of the Stars, whose members are all dedicated to teaching future generations so they can break Vicious Cycles. By her own admission, though, she partially joined to keep looking after her mentor, Blue Suede/Caerulus, who is also a joint-member there.
  • Mind over Matter: Being a goddess of Dark Magic gives her psionic telekinesis, though she's less powerful than purely psychic deities like Mentálne and Emperor Golden Scepter.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Her true Alicorn form contains traits of all mortal Pony Tribes, such as the chest gem of a Musical Pony, the butterfly wings of a Flutter Pony, and the aquatic gills and tail of a Sea Pony. After learning she can manifest these traits at will, she has taken to appearing with a chest gem, while alternating between butterfly wings and Alicorn wings depending on her mood.
  • Must Make Amends: Despite priding herself in not becoming a villain like War Rock, she feels guilty for all the crimes her father committed when he was alive, and feels obligated to redeem herself in the eyes of his victims even though she's completely innocent. Fortunately, she has friends like Blue Suede and Luminiferous to remind her that she's still her own person regardless of her parentage.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: When she first meets Luminiferous, she yells at him for trying to connect with her, assuming that he didn't understand her pain over being judged simply for being a villain's daughter. However, when Luminiferous reveals his true form and reveals his own parentage, she realizes with horror that she wrongly judged him the same way other people have judged her, and breaks down crying as a result. Quite fittingly, it was raining during the meeting, too. Luminiferous forgives her by simply hugging her.
  • No-Sell: As a goddess of Defiance, she is essentially Immune to Fate because she can magically ward off Doom-related powers by breaking any prophecy, including malicious ones.
  • Offing the Offspring: Averted. War Rock wanted to have his then-unborn daughter aborted once he learned Mint Delight was pregnant, then dumped his fillyfriend when she refused. This bit him in the ass when said daughter, now a full-grown mare and goddess, confronts and taunts him about not becoming the god he wanted to be in the Fourth Age, sending him into a murderous rage.
  • Oh, My Gods!: In the Second Age, she uttered "By Mag'ne!" when she found some cute-looking Kyaraben bentos in a bento shop while touring in Neighpon.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. She shares the second part of her name with her friend, Princess Opera Tide.

    P — S
  • Parental Abandonment: Her birth parents were out of her life — her father, War Rock, wanted nothing to do with his unborn child and wanted her aborted, but her mother, Mint Delight, gave her daughter up for adoption instead before moving to another country and changing her name in case War Rock tried doing bad things to her. It wasn't until years later that Winter Opera found and reunited with Mint Delight... and three Ages later that she finally met War Rock in person after the latter was resurrected as a Vampire Lord by Mistletoe Dreamer.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: In her teen years, she tried paying back her tormentors for their bullying by using dark magic to rain curses and hexes on them. It's deconstructed as it strained her relationship with her adoptive parents when they found out, and it's noted that she would have gone off the deep end eventually due to how tempting it was to use her dark magic for unfettered extremes. Fortunately, Luminiferous intervened and helped curb this tendency by teaching her to reserve her worst spells for the genuinely evil and unrepentant.
  • People Puppets: One of her abilities involves turning people into puppets of her will. She only reserves this for the worst of her enemies.
  • Personality Powers:
    • Her domain of Dark Magic is thematically tied to how she was influenced by good people in her life to break free of her father's villainous legacy and do good things, despite being seen as a potential villain-in-the-making by even puristic superheroes in her time. As a result, while many of her spells are considered 'dark', she uses them to help/protect others.
    • Her domain of Potential is thematically tied to how her mentors, Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings, tried cultivating her potential for good, leading to her to become a teacher who cultivates others' potential for good in turn. She can receive precognitive visions of one's potential for good and evil, empower people with their future selves, and see what's preventing them from reaching their full potential.
    • Her domain of Defiance is thematically tied to how she defied her father's villainous legacy, as well as public fears and expectations of her to become a villain, too, and rose to become a beloved hero, teacher, and goddess. She is Immune to Mind Control, can inspire people with Rousing Speeches, and, more dangerously, break herself and others free of malicious prophecies.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: Her entry notes that as a Goth, she wears lavish ball gowns during concerts. Her most prominent outfit is a blue and black ball gown adorned with roses.
  • Playing with Fire: Her Dark Magic domain gives her fire-based spells.
  • Point of Divergence: Had Luminiferous not found her, she eventually would have fulfilled everyone's expectations of her by becoming a supervillain like her father.
  • The Power of Love: This is what motivated her to save her mentor Blue Suede Heartstrings from his Angst Coma. Despite being hit rather hard by the revelation that Blue Suede had been hiding his traumas and worst flaws from everyone for three Ages, she still loved her mentor enough that it made her determined to save him from himself, specifically 'The Colonel'. She (along with a group who came with her) soon succeeds in this endeavor by entering Blue Suede's mind and encouraging him with reminders of all his accomplishments and the things he did for everyone.
  • Pretty Butterflies: As an Alicorn, one Pony trait she can manifest is the butterfly wings of a Flutter Pony. After learning she can manifest these traits at will, she has started alternating between butterfly wings and Alicorn wings depending on her mood.
  • Pretty Princess Powerhouse: She's a complete Statuesque Stunner of a goddess, and she's an Alicorn Princess. She's also a very proficient wielder of dark magic, which she embodies... though initially it was subverted when she was a Squishy Wizard who only fought with her violin. Fortunately, she decided to resolve the problem by learning how to fight with rapiers.
  • Pride: One thing she inherited from War Rock is his pride. She is proud of her musical achievements, and she prides herself on not becoming a villain like her birth father, though at times this can make her act haughty and determined to separate herself from War Rock's legacy in every way. Thankfully, the influence of Blue Suede Heartstrings and Luminiferous (especially the former) has tempered her pride and made her humble enough to restrain herself.
  • Proper Lady: Her stage persona is that of a refined mare with a sharp wit and a deceiving intelligence. She's far more casual off-stage, but she can still be composed and well-mannered at times.
  • Psychic Powers: Her Dark Magic domain gives her psychic powers like telepathy, empathy, teleportation, and psionic telekinesis, though it's noted that she's less powerful than purely psychic deities like Mentálne and Emperor Golden Scepter.
  • Ritual Magic: One of her abilities granted by her domain is knowledge of ritual magic. This includes Summoning Rituals.
  • Royal Rapier: Double-subverted. She was born a rather ordinary (if stunningly beautiful and talented) Earth pony, but years of good deeds allowed her to become an Alicorn goddess, after which she chose to take the title of 'Princess' (but declined an Alicorn name). Her main weapon is a Magitek violin that allows her to combine music with magic, but due to having been a musician first, she's a Squishy Wizard. That being said, she decided to overcome her lack of combat skills by training herself in rapiers.
  • The Runaway: Of the "Vagrant" type. After discovering that she's really one of War Rock's biological children, and realizing that she'll be 'damned' for it no matter what she did, she ran away from home unsure what to do with her life from then on. Fortunately, Luminiferous would find her and help her return home to her adoptive parents after a talk.
  • Screw Destiny: As a goddess of Defiance, she can break any attempt to bind her and her allies with malicious prophecies, making her a powerful enemy of Doom deities and others like them. Her entry notes that this power is thematically tied to how she overcame her father's villainous legacy to start her own.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Invoked. As a goddess of Defiance, she has powers that pertain to defiance as a concept, such as breaking malicious prophecies and psychically sensing discontent in others, allowing her to encourage people to defy the source(s) of their discontent with a Rousing Speech. One of the core tenets of her religion, the Order of the Blue Rose, revolves around defiance — her mortal followers are encouraged to question and even defy orders, including her own, that they deem to be morally unsound. However, she's well aware of what defiance can do if used for the wrong causes, and instructs her followers to only do it if there is clear and solid evidence of wrongdoing.
  • A Shared Suffering: Many of her friendships with other deities stem from sharing personal experiences with Abusive Parents and/or public ostracism for their very existence. Some of said deities include Temnobog and his older brothers Kúzelník and Phoenix King Naur, Sola Mors and Moon Ray Vaughoof, Princess Opera Tide, and Cloudy Brush. Upon joining the Church of the Stars, she became friends with Princess Grizelda II, who was similarly ostracized by society, but for being related to a pacifistic, tolerant Queen in a militant, imperialistic, and xenophobic Griffon kingdom rather than being related to a villain.
  • Shock and Awe: Her entry notes that she has a strong preference for lightning spells and used them often. In one incident, she fried the 'nards' of Overmare's agents when they tried to recruit her for their boss's nefarious plans.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Her Friendly Rivalry with Belladonna Heartstrings, a punk rocker and a biological daughter of her mentor, Blue Suede Heartstrings, evolved into this once she was co-adopted by both Blue Suede and Luminiferous. Despite it, they still maintain a healthy competition between them.
  • Signature Headgear: She usually wears a flower crown made of blue roses, which is not only tied to her onstage persona as a Proper Lady, but also her haughty yet benevolent and heroic personality. And because blue rose symbolize mystery and/or attaining the impossible, her flower crown could also refer to her accomplishment of Ascending to godhood in an Age where magic didn't exist; her birth father, War Rock, coveted godhood for himself but because he did horrible things trying to get it, he ended up damning himself upon death.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: Deconstructed. In her mortal life, she was bullied, shunned, and attacked a lot by many people just for being biologically related to War Rock, even though she didn't do anything to truly warrant such mistreatment. Even many superheroes, especially the puristic ones, sought to deal with her to prevent the chance of her inheriting War Rock's legacy. In one pre-Ascension incident, she was even persecuted by a small crowd of Blue Suede Heartstrings' fans who hated War Rock, only for Blue Suede himself to protect her and chew out his fans for their hypocrisy. The fact that she heavily resembled her father, War Rock gave her a lot of insecurities regarding her self-worth and future as a person, which wouldn't be fully resolved until the Fourth Age even though the worst of it was curbed by benevolent figures in her life. Fortunately, she was able to prove her detractors wrong and Ascend to godhood, something she otherwise wouldn't be able to do if she was truly evil like her father. Her experiences also led to her befriending those who went through similar situations, such as Temnobog, Cloudy Brush, Princess Opera Tide, and Sola Mors.
  • So Beautiful, It's a Curse: Deconstructed. She was extremely beautiful even as a mortal teenage filly, which made her the target of bullying, abuse, and scorn as her beauty was, in the eyes of Ponyland, a painful reminder of her father War Rock, who was a very handsome yet villainous sociopath in life. As she revealed to a horrified and disgusted Queen Eclaira, when she wasn't bullied for being one of War Rock's bastard daughters, she was shunned for being a Succubus, which was a result of other fillies spreading vicious rumors about her out of jealousy towards her beautiful looks. Her act of becoming a goddess also gave her accusations that she only did it just to be worshiped forever.
Princess Winter Opera: (to Queen Eclaira) For a time, I wished to be ugly. My father - may he rot in hell — was a very beautiful stallion, and as one of his bastard daughters, it was only natural that I inherit a huge portion of that beauty. But all it ever did for me in my younger years was cause me pain. When I wasn't bullied for looking like my Father, I was shunned for being a Succubus, stealing fillies' boyfriends and making grown stallions weak at the knees. And when I became a goddess after years of good deeds, some Ponies accused me of doing it so I could be worshiped forever like my Father.

Even though I have wonderful mentors, friends, and other creatures in my life who support me and assure me that I am my own creature, the pain I endured for being beautiful never really went away. At least, not all of it.
  • Speak Ill of the Dead: Sometime after running away from home, she found War Rock's "grave" (which only had a plain plaque with his name on it since his body was reduced to ash long before then) and proceeded to curse her father’s name with “every single word in the book” she could remember. It was then she would be found by Luminiferous, who greatly sympathized with her struggles being in War Rock's shadow just as he struggled in the shadow of his clone sire/'father', Morning Star.
  • Squishy Wizard: Her entry notes that despite being an Alicorn sorceress who embodies Dark Magic as a concept, she's still a musician first and foremost, and her main violin weapon, Sfida, doesn't give her many options in terms of physical combat since it's primarily a musical instrument. Fortunately, she decided to resolve this problem by learning how to fight with rapiers as a secondary weapon.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Much like War Rock in his youth, she was a tall and stunningly beautiful Earth pony mare when she was a mortal. This did give her some problems early on, as other fillies would spread vicious rumors about her being a succubus out of sheer jealousy. Becoming an Alicorn as a result of her good deeds both made her even more taller (she's slightly shorter than Blue Suede Heartstrings, who's a far older deity) and even more beautiful to where she could potentially rival Beauty deities like Princess Praline. At one point, as she later revealed to a horrified and disgusted Queen Eclaira, she wished she was ugly if only so the bullying would stop.
  • Stop Worshipping Me: Justified. She learned pre-Ascension that many of War Rock's crimes were done out of deeply-ingrained narcissism and a desire to be worshiped forever. After becoming an Alicorn goddess, she saw just how easy it was to manipulate her adoring fans into fulfilling her whims. Because of this, after founding the Order of the Blue Rose, she encourages her followers to approach her directly for aid and even question/defy her if they find her orders to be morally and ethically unsound.
  • Summoning Ritual: One of her abilities granted by her domain is summoning rituals. This is included in her overall knowledge of Ritual Magic. However, she is very much aware of the dangers involving this type of magic, and has been advising her followers on proper use of it. One incident involved a brash and cocky Blue Rose initiate who didn't listen, and caused a powerful Archdemon to go on a rampage after they tried summoning it without proper help or means to restrain it. Said Archdemon was then personally defeated by Winter Opera and banished to whence it came.
  • Supernatural Floating Hair: Being an ancient Alicorn goddess, she has an azure-blue mane and tail composed of rippling Dark Magic energy to denote her age.

    T — Z
  • Tears of Remorse: She began sobbing and blubbering apologies after Luminiferous reveals his true Alicorn form and explains to her his own struggles with being feared and hated for being Morning Star's clone/'son', causing her to realize that in her bitterness, she judged someone unfairly as other people did with her.
  • Teens Are Monsters: In her teen years, she became a bitter, angry, and vindictive filly who displayed a willingness to use dark magic to make her bullies' lives hell in revenge for tormenting her. Shortly after discovering her biological ties to War Rock as his illegitimate daughter (one of many, in fact), she ran away from home. Thankfully, Luminiferous found her, and his influence (and later Blue Suede Heartstrings') helped curb her worst impulses and shaped her into becoming a much better person.
  • Telepathy: Being a goddess of Dark Magic gives her telepathic powers, though she's less powerful than purely psychic deities like Mentálne and Emperor Golden Scepter.
  • Teleportation: Being a goddess of Dark Magic gives her teleportation powers, though she's less powerful than purely psychic deities like Mentálne and Emperor Golden Scepter.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: Her entry notes that if Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings hadn't found her and intervened, she eventually would have snapped from the mistreatment she suffered and become a villain like War Rock did, thus fulfilling everyone's expectations of her following in her father's hoofsteps.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: She loves eating bentos, which are essentially Japanese home-packed lunchboxes. What started it was when, during a tour in Second-Age Neighpon, she found some Kyaraben bentos in a shop that sold them and thought them to be incredibly adorable.
Princess Winter Opera: By Mag'ne! They're so cute!
  • Unpleasant Parent Reveal:
    • Her birth father War Rock was long dead in her lifetime, but after taking a DNA test, Winter Opera discovered that she is one of many illegitimate foals sired by War Rock through hundreds of mares. In addition, further research revealed the full extent of War Rock's crimes, including working with Overmare and joining the Sinful Seven, and turning himself into a vampire. This understandably left her angry, bitter, and insecure about herself, but thankfully, the benevolent influence of Winter Opera's mentors and friends gradually helped her defy her father's villainous legacy.
    • Her birth mother Mint Delight, on the other hand, is an inversion. After learning about Mint Delight and what happened to her after giving birth, Winter Opera took great pains to find her and eventually succeeded. They both had a tearful reunion after Winter Opera introduced herself to her mother and explained why she wanted to meet her.
  • Villainous Lineage: Deconstructed. Because she's one of War Rock's illegitimate children who heavily resembles her father, many people (including the superheroes from the Second Age) believe that Winter Opera will become evil like War Rock, too. As a result, Winter Opera was shunned, bullied, and even attacked well into adulthood despite not doing anything to deserve it, leaving her angry, bitter, vindictive, and doubtful over her self-worth and future. Discovering her true parentage made it even worse, and she once ran away from home at some point to find herself. It's eventually defied — while Winter Opera did inherit some of War Rock's traits like his beauty and pride, she was able to break free of his villainous legacy thanks to her mentors Luminiferous and Blue Suede Heartstrings, who curbed her worst flaws and helped her see there's more to herself than just potential for villainy. She became a leading figure in Symphonic Metal and hero, and her good deeds and defiance of expectations would allow her to Ascend to godhood, something that War Rock desperately sought but could never achieve.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • She was furious with Princess Radiant Rapier for mistreating Princess Opera Tide out of Fantastic Racism, and proceeded to call her out on her judicial hypocrisy.
    • She chewed out a group of Poenan deities for trying to punish and kill her mentor, then-Prince Caerulus Melodia Equestria, for marrying Prince Stoltur Skjöldur, the Deer-Draconequus god of Pride and Evil. She then proceeded to curse said deities with horrifying, rotting appearances to reflect their puristic beliefs and actions, which is noted to be similar to what Pakak did to Sunnytown. Both Caerulus and Pakak were proud of her for what she did.
Princess Winter Opera: You think you're so 'good' and 'righteous', but you're just as bad as the villains you face! You're all willing to let my mentor die, just to keep him 'pure' and satisfy that so-called honor of yours! So let your appearances be as rotten as your hearts and actions, until you learn the error of your ways! ABRACADABRA!
    • She was also 'supremely pissed off' by High King Irminsul's accusations of being little different from Grogar I just for embodying Dark Magic, and proceeds to verbally eviscerate him for it. It's noted that Irminsul comes out shaken by the end of it.
Princess Winter Opera: I'm 'no different' from...? You know what, I'm tired of hearing creatures say that of me! Since fillyhood, I had to deal with Ponies always comparing me to War Rock and how being related to him made me no different than my father! And it was only thanks to Luminiferous and Blue Suede that I was kept from jumping off the deep end!
High King Irminsul: You are ignorant of what atrocities that goat had committed against us with his foul magics! If you did, you would have controlled yourself more!
Princess Winter Opera: You're right! I don't know what Grogar did, but I know what my father did! Knowing that War Rock brainwashed Ponies for his own benefit was just the tip of the iceberg! But you know what? Just because some flankhole like War Rock or Grogar misused dark magic doesn't mean it can't be used for good! My Blue Rosers wouldn't have come to being if dark magic was strictly evil! And here's another thing: I know exactly one creature who decided to misuse light magic! You!
High King Irminsul: Watch your tongue, you corrupted wretch!
Princess Winter Opera: No, you shut up! Using purification magic to defile your own child? Just to fulfill your ideal fantasies of the perfect ruler? That's just sick and wrong! Abusing your kids for not being pure like you are? Even worse! If anything, you're just a colorful Deer version of Grogar!
High King Irminsul: How — how dare you?! I-I did not-!
Princess Winter Opera: Did not what? Do the same horrible things Grogar did? You're right. You didn't brainwash creatures like War Rock did, or corrupt and twist other creatures for funsies like Grogar. But I'm a goddess of Potential, and right now I can see your potential for good and bad. Which means that, more than anything, you are quite capable of standing on the same level of your enemy later on if you keep shoving your head up your own flanks.
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: She discovered the hard way that being immortal has its downsides when her mortal friends, half-siblings, and loved ones grew old and died while she remained forever young, which understandably left her depressed and grieving for some time. She even notes the irony of gaining the immortality War Rock sought, only to for her to see it's not all that it's cracked up to be. Fortunately, Blue Suede Heartstrings introduced her to his twin brother, Bossa Nova Heartstrings, who helped her come to terms with the losses and understand Death.
Princess Winter Opera: I finally got the immortality that Father wanted... I wish there was a way for me to give it back.
  • Winged Unicorn: Post-Ascension, she became an Alicorn goddess with an azure-blue mane and tail made of rippling Dark Magic energy, and her wings have gradients going from white to azure-blue. Because she's a 'prodigy deity', she's slightly shorter than her mentor Blue Suede Heartstrings, who is far older, because her physical/magical growths are abnormally accelerated on top of the massive growth spurt she went through as a teenage filly.
