Lights of Potential

    open/close all folders

    General
  • The Chosen One: Deconstructed. All of the Lights were experimented on by the Alicorn Ascendancy and their spin-off factions, as well as forced to serve as heralds for Ponykind's golden age. This left them with considerable trauma by the time they were rescued by benevolent individuals, with some either having become resigned to their fates or afraid of fulfilling their abusers' expectations anyway.
  • Deity of Human Origin: This is what the Alicorn Ascendancy and their spin-off factions wanted the Lights to be, but because of their cruelty, the Lights never Ascended. It's only after the Lights were rescued and tutored (and in some cases, adopted) by benevolent deities that they were able to Ascend for real.
  • Happily Adopted: As shown with Breaking Dawn and her friends, some of the Lights were adopted by benevolent deities who both want to nurture their potential and raise them right. This helped ease the Lights' issues significantly, allowing them to Ascend to godhood (or demi-godhood).
  • Harmful to Minors: Many of the Lights were mortal children who were kidnapped by either the Alicorn Ascendancy or their spin-off factions, and cruelly experimented on by them. They were also psychologically abused and conditioned into becoming heralds for a planned golden age for mortal Ponykind. Understandably, the Lights were left with considerable trauma by the time they were rescued.
  • It Sucks to Be the Chosen One: All Lights were children from all races, previously chosen by either the Alicorn Ascendancy or their spin-off factions specifically for their potential for godhood. Unfortunately, the methods used to bring out that 'potential' usually involve experimenting on the children and conditioning them to serve as heralds for a golden age for mortal Ponykind. Those who survived the experiments and were subsequently rescued were left with considerable trauma as a result, and needed both support and psychiatric help to get through it.
  • Meaningful Name: Their group name, the Lights of Potential, refers to how each of them has the potential for greatness, even godhood, no matter what evil factions like the Alicorn Ascendancy and their spin-off factions think.
  • Winged Unicorn: A few examples like Crystal Prism and Breaking Dawn are Alicorns, which is what the Alicorn Ascendancy and their spin-off factions want for Ponykind. Ironically, it's after being rescued from them that the Lights were able to properly Ascend.

"Sometimes, the more you change, the more you stay the same."

Crystal Prism, born Page Wheel (his old entry entry here; his new entry here), is the Alicorn demigod of Rebirth, Butterflies, Transformation, Spirit, and Change, and is a young member of the Coltic Pantheon.

Crystal Prism was once a Unicorn colt who worked as a newspaper delivery boy in Hornbridge, a Grittish town populated by Unicorns. When his mother became extremely ill, Crystal Prism, then Page Wheel, wished he was more grown-up so he could take care of her. One day, an Earth Pony filly named Midnight Bell moved into Hornbridge. Page Wheel teased Midnight Bell for being clumsy, kicking off a series of events that eventually led to him being kidnapped by Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, two disgraced teachers and criminal fugitives who were also members of the Alicorn Ascendancy. Wanting to create an Alicorn god who embodied Rebirth and Change, Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker experimented on him, aided by the Unicorn trio Decepticolt, Zappityhoof, and Goldencap.

Things went horribly wrong when Page Wheel instead turned into a gelatinous, magic-eating monster. After draining Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker of their magic, the corrupted Page Wheel did the same to countless others as he rampaged across the Grittish Isles. Midnight Bell, who deeply regretted her role in Page Wheel's kidnapping and transformation, tried distracting him by talking him down. Both Luminiferous and the ruling Equestrian Alicorn Princesses took the chance to kill Page Wheel, ignoring Midnight Bell's warnings about the monster's true nature until after the deed was done. Miraculously, Page Wheel was revived when the magic he devoured reacted by incubating him in a magical cocoon, Ascending him to demi-godhood in the process. Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker were caught and arrested, but Page Wheel's death and Ascension traumatized him so much that he developed intense PTSD, developing a grudge against his "creators".

Because he Ascended with a "blank" portfolio, Page Wheel was free to choose his own path. So while he was targeted by Alicorn Ascendancy members who wanted to study him, he also received protection from many deities who were equally interested in his potential. With proper training and therapy, Page Wheel recovered from his PTSD and learned how to use his new powers correctly. He also realized his grudges were becoming toxic, so he let them go and forgave everyone who hurt him. During the "Temptation Unbound" event, Page Wheel confronted Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker after they were freed by Ispita, and resolved to stop them to protect innocent people. This finally allowed Page Wheel to develop his own domains. He killed Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, and they were dragged off to Nekelmu's Hell-Realms for breaking Primeval Laws regarding magic.

Following the end of the "Temptation Unbound event", Page Wheel would join the Coltic Pantheon and change his name to Crystal Prism to reflect his growth. He was also offered to join the Church of the Stars, though he declined feeling he wasn't ready for it yet. Even so, he became a known hero in the Grittish Isles, protecting young children from the Alicorn Ascendancy, their splinter factions, and other villains.
  • Abstract Apotheosis: Crystal Prism became an Alicorn demigod after dying and being revived by the magic he devoured. While initially believed to have embodied Rebirth, Change, and Transformation from the get-go, in truth Crystal Prism Ascended as a blank slate because he didn't he didn't have a dharma, or conviction, that would help shape his domains. It's after overcoming his traumas and choosing to spread constructive change that he comes to embody Rebirth, Butterflies, Transformation, Spirit, and Change.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Unlike what happened to Peter in Mary and The Witch's Flower, Crystal Prism was greatly traumatized by his canon experiences, as well as dying in his monster form. He had nightmares where he actually died instead of being revived by the magic he devoured, and developed a grudge against those responsible for his situation. He also became despondent over his future, feeling that with his life and childhood ruined, he had no other option but to be the herald of a golden age for Ponykind. In addition, Peter's canon desire to become an adult becomes a prominent feature of Crystal Prism's character arc, as it informs much of his choices and behavior.
  • Adaptational Badass: In Mary and The Witch's Flower, Peter briefly transforms into a young man with godlike power, then devolves into a magic-eating Blob Monster before he is restored to normal when a spell removes his magic. Here, Crystal Prism goes through a similar process, but dies and Ascends to demi-godhood upon being revived by all the magic he devoured. While initially a "blank slate" due to lacking a dharma, Crystal Prism comes to embody Rebirth, Butterflies, Transformation, Spirit, and Change after growing as a Pony and making a series of epiphanies. He also has a lot of adventures, like helping Button Mash free CreepEntity513's victims, protecting his town from Tribalists, and befriending Katastrofa, Ispita's nihilistic son.
  • Adaptation Species Change: In canon, Peter is a human. Here, Crystal Prism is a Unicorn colt who became an Alicorn demigod.
  • All Your Powers Combined: As an Alicorn demigod, Crystal Prism has the combined magics of all Pony tribes, including Flutter Ponies.
  • Animal Eye Spy: As a demigod of Butterflies, Crystal Prism uses butterflies as his eyes and ears, maintaining a Psychic Link with them via telepathy.
  • Animal Motifs: Crystal Prism is heavily associated with butterflies, which symbolize change, death, and rebirth. He loved studying and breeding butterflies in his youth, and his transformation and rampage as a magic-eating monster is reminiscent of a caterpillar. After he is killed, Crystal Prism is revived when the magic he ate incubated him in a magical cocoon, and he later comes out of it an Alicorn demigod. He also develops the domains of Butterflies and other concepts that are symbolically related to butterflies, such as Rebirth, Transformation, and Change. His domain of Spirit also echoes certain beliefs that butterflies are either souls or messengers of the dead.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: Originally, Crystal Prism was believed to embody Rebirth, Change, and Transformation, though in truth his portfolio was a blank slate due to how he Ascended. During the "Temptation Unbound" event, he came to embody Rebirth, Butterflies, Transformation, Spirit, and Change.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: During the "Temptation Unbound" crisis, Crystal Prism would give one to Katastrofa, asking if he ever tried stopping the bad futures he constantly foresaw. This caught Katastrofa completely off-guard.
Crystal Prism: Have you ever tried to stop that bad future?
    Katastrofa: ...Stop it?
Crystal Prism: You know it might happen... maybe you could stop bad futures from happening.
Katastrofa: I... I never thought about that.
  • Back from the Dead:
    • This happened in his backstory - after he was killed by both Luminiferous and the Equestrian Princesses while in his corrupted form, the magic he devoured reacted by encasing him in a magical cocoon that revived and healed him for several days, Ascending him in the process. It was noted that the experience traumatized him and gave him nightmares of what could've happened if he was killed then and there.
    • Post-Ascension, he gained the ability to do this to those who died via "cocoon-healing". However, he can only do it if they've just recently died, as reviving someone who had been long dead would not only possibly rob them of the good afterlife they deserved, but would also anger the Death deities as well.
  • Barrier Warrior: As a demigod of Spirit, he can use spiritual energy to create barriers. He can also do the same with spiritual light magic.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Crystal Prism wished to become a stallion so he could care for his sick mother. Thanks to Midnight Bell's lies and circumstances beyond his control, he ends up being kidnapped, subjected to horrible experimens, and transformed into a magic-eating monster. Then Crystal Prism is killed and revived as a physically older demigod, but it happened at the cost of devouring everyone's magic and leaves him with severe PTSD.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Since Ascending, Crystal Prism has become more impish, playing pranks on people. He's also a powerful demigod with lots of potential, and has killed his "creators", Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, during the " to prevent them from harming more innocents.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Despite being far younger than Ruby Heart chronologically, he has become somewhat of a surrogate older brother figure for her. In one incident, when Poena tried getting Ruby to agree with her views on Justice, Crystal went into Tranquil Fury and angrily yet calmly warned her of the consequences that would ensue if the divine Tulpa tried forcing Ruby to side with her.
  • Big Damn Heroes: After CreepEntity513 was killed by Button Mash and its victims freed, its video-game realm started falling apart, causing Button Mash to realize that it made the realm tied to its power just to have one last laugh. Cue Crystal Prism galloping in with the divine help of a "few friends", and leading everyone to safety in the real world.
  • Birds of a Feather: Platonic example. It is believed In-Universe that the reason why he easily befriended Katastrofa, one of Ispita's children, during the "Temptation Unbound" event is because his domain of Rebirth is quite similar to Katastrofa's domain of Creation.
  • Blinded by the Light: With his light magic, he can do this with various methods, such as creating magical flash-bangs, manipulating reflective surfaces in an area to make it look brighter than it is, and channeling his light magic through his body, intimidating his enemies into lowering their guard whenever they try fighting him in close quarters due to being so bright.
  • Blue Is Heroic: As a mortal unicorn colt, he was described as having a pale-blue pelt with white spots. Post-Ascension, he gained a blue-black pelt with white markings and bright areas on his legs, muzzle, and underbelly. He's also a heroic and benevolent, if psychologically broken individual who is still recovering from the traumas he endured.
  • Body Horror: Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker's experiments transformed and mutated him into a blob monster that devoured all magic it could sense, including those held by sapient creatures like Ponies (which led to Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker becoming his first victims). He did manage to Ascend to demi-godhood after he was killed, but it's noted he was heavily traumatized by the experience.
  • Butterfly of Death and Rebirth: Crystal Prism is not only a demigod of Butterflies, but is also quite fascinated with them. Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker specifically chose him because they wanted to create an Alicorn who embodied Rebirth and Change, who would then herald a golden age for Ponykind. Fittingly, the process Crystal Prism went through to become a demigod is reminiscent of a butterfly's lifespan — he transforms into a magic-eating monster; he dies and the magic he devoured responds by incubating him in a magical cocoon (pupa/chrysalis); he comes out of the cocoon alive and fuly healed, Ascending to demi-godhood in the process. Due to how he Ascended, he doesn't fully develop his domains until much later, after which he became a proper demigod. One of his domains is Rebirth, which goes hand-in-hand with his new title, "the Butterfly of Rebirth".
  • Children Are Special: It's believed that Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker often experimented on young foals because they had a greater capacity for potential and magic than adults did, which gave them the perfect excuse to try mass-produce Alicorns for the greater good. Page Wheel/Crystal Prism was kidnapped for this reason because they believed Midnight Bell's lies about him being the "real" child prodigy.
  • The Chosen One: While talking to Celestia after her ordeal with Tyrantlestia, he brings up how his "creators", Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, intended to have him be "the herald of a New Age or something" after he paid them a visit in prison. It's ultimately played with; while Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker intended to create an Alicorn that embodied Rebirth and Change, it's implied that the holder of the role could've been anyone. As Page Wheel, him ending up in a magical cocoon after spending a short time of his life as a magic-eating monster was proof to them that he had the potential and power to become an Alicorn. Fortunately for Page Wheel, Scarlet Bell and Midnight Bell intervened before Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker could do anything about it, and after he Ascended, several benevolent individuals like Golden Scepter would encourage him to forge his own path instead. Unfortunately, the success of his Ascension has gotten the wider Alicorn Ascendancy's attention, which resulted in the organization becoming active and daring in retrieving "the success" despite its general secrecy, which in turn caused the world at large to direct attention upon them and focus efforts on stopping them.
  • Cool Big Sis: Gender-inverted and implied. Despite the sheer gap in chronological age, it's mentioned that Crystal has somewhat become a surrogate older brother figure for the ghostly Ruby Heart. He is wiling to protect her even from divine entities like Poena.
  • Creating Life Is Bad: Crystal Prism's backstory involved him being used as a test subject in an attempt by two disgraced teachers, Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, to create Alicorns for the greater good of Equus. It's played with though, as while both the circumstances that led to his Ascension and the intentions behind them were bad, Temnobog sees Crystal Prism's very existence as a "positive" one, born from the great evil and hubris of mortals trying to play god. In Temnobog's words, if Crystal Prism hadn't been "born", Equus would've been a little worse off without a hero.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: His mother had become gravely ill at some point, causing him to secretly wish that he was a stallion so he would take better care of her. Then after Midnight Bell lied about him, he was kidnapped and experimented on by two disgraced teachers and wanted criminals, Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, which first turned him into a magic-eating monster, then went through a traumatic Ascension after both Luminiferous and the Equestrian Princesses were forced to kill him, unaware that they were attacking a transformed colt until it was too late. His PTSD was so bad that it took him a long time as well as lots of therapy sessions with Mentálne to stave off the worst parts of it.
  • Deity of Human Origin: He's an Ascendant deity who was transformed at a young age, though in an unorthodox manner rather than Ascending naturally. His "creators", Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, wanted to invoke this by mass-producing Alicorns for the greater good of Equus, so they kidnapped him and made him one of their test subjects, but this backfired in a horrible way. Only after he was killed by Luminiferous and the Equestrian Princesses did he revive himself and Ascend. The fact that he successfully Ascended while most test subjects failed has caused the Alicorn Ascendancy to gain interest in him and devote their efforts in retrieving him, so they could perform more experiments to learn how he managed to do it.
  • Divine Parentage:
    • It's rumored In-Universe that he's related to Canteros, the oldest son and child of Amareros, the Love Primeval, due to both of them being Alicorns (whenever Canteros appears as one, anyway) with butterfly motifs.
    • It's later revealed that he's a Fourth Age descendant of Prince Crystal Clear, the Alicorn god of Sound, Technology, and Stage Crews, through one of his lovers. This means that he is also a descendant of Crystal's father, Blue Suede Heartstrings (now King Caerulus Melodia Equestria-Corporatum), via adoption.
  • The Empath: While he doesn't have the reading abilities of traditional empaths, Crystal Prism can technically still be considered one. Namely, his foresight only works if he displays strong emotions/sentiments towards someone before going to bed.
    • Crystal was able to get Midnight Bell some psychiatric help because he foresaw her falling into a depression over guilt. This is how she ended up with Mentálne, who helped her recover from her PTSD.
    • Shortly before the CreepEntity513 incident, Crystal befriended Button Mash during a visit in Ponyville and was introduced to video games, even receiving a game as a gift. His strong emotions towards Button Mash gave him a troubling vision in which CreepEntity513 was attacking Button Mash and dragging the colt into its video-game dimension, and told Luminiferous about it. This resulted in Button receiving a trinket that would allow Luminiferous to lend him his future potential in the game world, ultimately leading to CreepEntity513's defeat.
  • Entitled Bastard: Due to their collective Lack of Empathy and selfishness, the unicorn trio Decepticolt, Zappityhoof, and Goldencap assumed he was being entitled and keeping the secrets of the Ascension process to himself, due to being a young Alicorn. This enraged Crystal, who actually endured cruel experimentation and being killed as a monster before he Ascended, and thus was understandably angry that the unicorn trio only cared about the power he held rather than the trauma he suffered to get where he was.
  • Expy: Crystal Prism/Page Wheel is described as being inspired by Peter, the deuteragonist of Mary and The Witch's Flower. Like Peter, Page Wheel was a delivery boy who teased Midnight Bell (who was inspired by Mary) for being clumsy, which initially created an antagonistic relationship between them. He would also be kidnapped and experimented on by well-intentioned but unscrupulous people in their attempt to create godlike beings, only for him to turn into a magic-eating blob, which is what happened to Peter towards the end of the movie.
  • Family Theme Naming: Before his name change, he and his mother followed the "___ Wheel" formula, with his name being Page Wheel.
  • Forced Transformation: Being subjected to horrible experiments in an attempt to mass-produce gods caused him to devolve into (in Luminiferous's words) a "dangerous, blue, blob-looking monster thingy that absorbs any type of magic it came across" which is what happened to Peter in Mary and The Witch's Flower. After Luminiferous and the Equestrian Princesses succeeded in killing him to stop his rampage, the magic leftover incubated Page Wheel's body in a magical cocoon before opening to reveal a butterfly-like Alicorn several days later.
  • Forgiveness:
    • Much to Mentálne and Queen Dazzleglow's great delight, he eventually forgave Midnight Bell for her actions that led to his trauma, while in turn apologizing for previously teasing Midnight for her clumsiness. It shows how far he's come in recovering from his PTSD.
    • However, it's subverted with Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, who he still hasn't forgiven yet. He even goes into terrible rages whenever he sees someone forcing change on others like they've done with him. It's understandable given his experiences, though he's working on it.
  • Friend to All Children: While he tries to help those who are dealing with stressful and traumatic changes, he feels closer to children, whose fragile mental states often leave them overwhelmed in the face of change. His initial Trauma Button involves them, as he gets angry whenever he sees someone trying to force change on a child just like how he was before, though he's getting better at handling his anger and recovering from his issues thanks to Mentálne.
  • From Zero to Hero: He was once a mortal unicorn colt named Page Wheel, but after Midnight Bell lied about him, he was kidnapped by Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, who proceeded to experiment on him to replicate the Alicorns' Ascension process. While the experiments did corrupt Page Wheel and turned him into a magic-eating monster, it wasn't until after he was defeated and killed by Luminiferous and the Equestrian Princesses that he became the Alicorn he is now, having been revived by the very magic he devoured. Nowadays he helps promote Change and Rebirth, as he embodies it, by helping people and even befriending "evil" deities like Katastrofa, instead of heralding a "new age" like Noble Grace intended thanks to benevolent individuals encouraging him to forge a new path for himself.
  • Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: He finds it baffling that Evil as a concept would have a constructive purpose in Equus, even wishing there were better motivators to make people do good things, though he does come to an understanding during a talk with Temnobog, the Bogolenya Deer god of Evil.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Is normally a very empathetic Alicorn who is good with children. But he has periods of "terrifying" rage whenever he encounters those who try to force change through nefarious means. He's getting better at handling his anger, though, thanks to Mentálne and Yarost.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: After dying and Ascending upon revival, he would gain hybrid pegasus-butterfly wings, as shown in his folder image. While his unique wings represent his heroic character, they also represent his domains of Rebirth, Change, and Transformation - appropriately, he Ascended into Alicornhood by dying, and helps people deal with stressful changes and improve themselves.
  • Guilt Complex: His entry notes that he would develop one post-Ascension, believing that his own wishes to become a stallion led to his undoing and caused so much pain and destruction for everything else, even though his transformation and stint as a monster was entirely out of his control. Fortunately, Mentálne has been working with him in overcoming this.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: He has radiant gold hair. Even as a mortal unicorn colt, he still had blond hair, though it was a dirty yellow color. He's also a heroic Alicorn demigod, albeit still recovering from the severe trauma he went through. His blond hair color is later revealed to be something that he inherited from his divine ancestor, Prince Crystal Clear.
  • Harmful to Minors:
    • He was kidnapped by two disgraced teachers, Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, and experimented on in their attempt to mass-produce Alicorns for the greater good. Unfortunately, he ended up turning into a magic-eating monster, causing him to go on a rampage across the Grittish Isles. Then, he was "purged" by Luminiferous and the Equestrian Princesses to stop him from rampaging across Equus, though they didn't know who or what he was until it was too late to do anything else. What saved him was his magic reviving/Ascending him by incubating his body in a magical cocoon. The incident gave him nightmares where he was still killed but didn't come back to life like he did.
    • He also opposes those who engage in this trope by forcing change on others, especially young children, for nefarious means, to the point where he has "terrifying" periods of fury (though he's getting better at handling his anger).
  • Healing Hands: He has an ability called "cocoon healing", in which he encases the wounded in magical cocoons that heals injuries and eliminates most curses. How long it takes depends on the severity of their condition, with reviving the dead taking several days or longer.
  • Holy Hand Grenade: He can use his magical cocoons to cure mundane forms of curses and dark magic. When he learned that the Alicorn godling, Prince Léon, has similar purification abilities, Crystal noted that they're somewhat not so different.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Implied, as his profile described him as this. When he laughed at Midnight Bell's clumsiness, it soured Midnight Bell's perception of him, and indirectly led to a lot of trauma in short order. After everything, though, he apologized to Midnight Bell for teasing her after she apologized for ruining his life, allowing them to reconcile and become friends.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: His Odd Friendship with Katastrofa, Ispita's youngest son. Katastropha is a Tier 3-ranked divine, which means he's much older than Crystal Prism, who is the equivalent of an infant demigod due to how recently he Ascended.
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: Talisman referred to him as "the success" while looking for him, largely due to being the only publicly-confirmed success of their experiments. This sets alarms for Prince Shamrock, who correctly suspected that Talisman is a member of the Alicorn Ascendancy and warns Celestia and Luna of Talisman's presence.
  • It's All My Fault: Shortly after becoming a young demigod, Crystal Prism developed a guilt complex similar to Princess Luna's, blaming himself for causing a lot of deaths and destruction as a monster just because he wished he was a stallion. Thanks to therapy sessions with Mentálne, he's gradually overcoming this.
  • Light 'em Up: He's described as having a developing talent in light magic, and some of his capabilities include firing searing light beams, creating barriers and light-based illusions, and having butterflies made of light guide him and his allies through dark places. He can also blind and disorient people with light through magical flash-bangs, manipulation of reflective surfaces, and channeling his light magic through his own body so he looks brighter than he initially is. During his rescue of Button Mash and the victims of CreepEntity513 from its collapsing game realm, he made a series of light-based platforms so they could cross a bottomless chasm and enter a portal into the real world.
  • Magic Eater: His stint as a "blob-looking monster thingy" made him react and eat any sources of magic he came across, leaving them completely powerless. It's theorized by Princess Twilight Sparkle that he absorbed so much magic that it ended up saving his life after Luminiferous and the Equestrian Princesses killed him, by reviving him in a magical cocoon that also Ascended him.
  • Manchild: Justified and zigzagged. Despite being a demigod that looks like a teenage Alicorn, he is still the unicorn colt he once was in age. So while he acts mature and wise because of Mentálne's therapy and the Character Development he went through after his Ascension, he still sometimes shows elements of his original childlike personality that befits his actual age.
  • The Magnificent: As people learned more about him and his heroic exploits, he would eventually gain the title of "the Butterfly of Rebirth", due to being a butterfly-like Alicorn demigod who embodies things like Rebirth, Change, and Transformation.
  • Meaningful Appearance: He's described by his profile as a butterfly-like Alicorn whose magic is centered around butterflies. Later Codex entries, as well as art illustrated by randomfan11 (shown in his folder image), would reveal that because of the nature of Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker's experiments, he would end up gaining hybrid butterfly-pegasus wings after reviving and Ascending.
  • Meaningful Name: It's noted in his entry that his name is based on a glass prism - just as a prism turns light into rainbows, Crystal Prism predicts the potential of people.
  • Meaningful Rename: He was once known as "Page Wheel", a unicorn colt who worked as a newspaper delivery boy. Post-experiments and Ascension, he took on the name "Crystal Prism" after he developed the ability of "emotional foresight". It's implied that another reason why he renamed himself is because he sees his old life as being broken beyond repair, as he had Ascended and could no longer resume things the way they used to be.
  • Mind over Matter: He's described as still having the typical unicorn telekinesis post-Ascension.
  • Morality Pet: During the "Temptation Unbound" event, he would form an Odd Friendship with Katastrofa, Ispita's youngest son and child. Because his foresight only lets him see bad outcomes, Katastrofa's normally quite apathetic and nihilistic, believing that he's only good at causing destruction. However, when around Crystal Prism, he would display a kinder, and more creative and intelligent side. This is justified, as it is believed In-Universe that Katastrofa's domain of Creation is similar to Crystal Prism's domain of Rebirth, so naturally they would hit it off.
  • "Not So Different" Remark:
    • He often helps children deal with stressful changes because he had gone through the same thing. He even goes into terrifying rages whenever he sees someone inflict harmful changes on them, though Mentálne is trying to help him control his anger and overcome his traumas to resolve his anger problems.
    • One reason why Luminiferous took Crystal Prism in as his student is that like him and his father, Morning Star, Crystal Prism was created by an unscrupulous/evil person as a wheel to carry out their own agendas.
    • He also compared Tyrantlestia to the school bullies that would torment his friend, Midnight Bell, because they would both bully people to make them feel bad about themselves. He goes on to state that "living good" is the best revenge against bullies in general since it reveals how pathetic and petty they are.
  • Oh, Crap!: During his talk with Temnobog, it slowly dawns on Crystal Prism that Queen Dazzleglow would likely not react well to hearing that Evil has a constructive place in Equus, and that her goal of breaking the Cycle might be foolish all along. Thankfully, Dazzleglow takes it in stride and privately clears up everything with Temnobog, leading to a better understanding of her motives on the dark god's part.
  • Odd Friendship: He would befriend Katastrofa, Ispita's youngest son, during the "Temptation Unbound" event. Katastrofa is an older deity and a apathetic nihilist whose catastrophic foresight made him believe that he's only good at destroying things and making people miserable with his catastrophes, even though he is very intelligent and kind and also embodies Creation. Crystal Prism is a young Alicorn demigod who has empathetic precognition, but actively helps people deal with stressful changes despite the incredible trauma he suffered in the past. Despite their differences and beliefs, they would hit it off easily, and it is believed In-Universe that Katastrofa's Creation domain is quite similar to Crystal Prism's Rebirth domain.
  • One to Million to One: Befitting his portfolio, he can quickly change his body into a swarm of blue butterflies as a quick, alternative evasion method in case using his wings isn't an option.
  • Overnight Age-Up: As a colt, he secretly wished he was a stallion so he could take care of his sick mother. After he was kidnapped and experimented on by Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, he would transform into a magic-eating monster that rampaged through the Grittish Isles, and would be revived and healed by the magic he absorbed after he was killed by both Luminiferous and the Equestrian Alicorn Princesses. This resulted in him Ascending and coming out a physically older Alicorn demigod, though his entry that he would be heavily traumatized by his experiences. However, it's subverted in that, as his entry notes, the healing/revival process that Ascended him actually took several days to complete.
  • Pals with Jesus: He's the "Jesus" part of the trope, being an Alicorn demigod who is friends with Midnight Bell and her great-aunt, Scarlet Bell. It's justified because both of them knew him as the mortal Page Wheel because they're neighbors, though he and Midnight Bell initially got off on the wrong hoof after he teased her for her clumsiness. After a series of horrible events that ultimately led to Page Wheel Ascending, his friendships with the Bells would play a huge role in helping him recover from his post-Ascension traumas.
  • Pen Pals: With him frequently away from town due to being Luminiferous's student, Midnight has become his "wing pal"; since Crystal Prism uses Telepathy to control butterflies and make them his eyes and ears, Midnight keeps him informed on her life and what's going on at home whenever she sees a butterfly.
  • Pink Girl, Blue Boy: Crystal Prism is a young black-pelted Alicorn demigod with blue and white markings, though as Page Wheel he had a pale blue pelt with white spots. His friend, Midnight Bell, is a pink-pelted Earth pony filly with a wild orange mane and tail.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • In-Universe; post-Ascension, Crystal Prism would often have nightmares where he was killed by Luminiferous and the Equestrian Princesses, but didn't come back to life like he did. These nightmares gradually lessened as he continued seeing Mentálne for therapy.
    • It's implied that if he hadn't teased Midnight Bell in the first place, he likely wouldn't have gone through a lot of crap that ended with his traumatic Ascension.
  • Pretty Butterflies: He has become associated with blue butterflies after Ascending to demigod status, due to having magic that revolves around them. In turn, his butterfly agents became symbols of good fortune and good changes.
  • Psychic Powers: He has telepathy (which he uses to control butterflies), precognitive empathy, and can cast light-based illusions. He also has the same telekinetic magic that he had when he was Page Wheel the unicorn colt.
  • Rage Against the Reflection: In an emotional conversation with her mother, Twilight Sparkle mentions that Crystal Prism couldn't look at himself in the mirror without freaking out; one such incident required Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Twilight herself to calm him down. It's heavily implied that Crystal Prism's strong reactions to his reflections are due to wishing he was a stallion so he could take care of his (at the time) sick mother, only to have his wish granted in the worst possible way and thus, his reflections serve as Trauma Buttons for how he changed and what he went through.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Peter of Mary and The Witch's Flower isn't related to Elvis Presley. In the Codexverse, however, Crystal Prism is related to Blue Suede Heartstrings by virtue of being a descendant of the latter's oldest adoptive son, Prince Crystal Clear.
  • Resurrective Immortality: While he's ageless due to being an Alicorn, his magic would always surround him and incubate him in a magical cocoon whenever he's killed. It's noted that it takes "several days or so" for him to fully revive himself, during which he's a complete sitting duck that needs efficient protection from those who wish him harm. It's implied that the first time doing this was what partially added to his initial trauma.
  • Screw Destiny:
    • According to research notes and police interrogations, Noble Grace had intended to create an Alicorn that embodied Rebirth and Change to herald a "new age" for Ponykind, which became Crystal Prism's role once he Ascended. However, he turned away from it after Golden Scepter encouraged him to determine his own path.
Crystal Prism: Well, I guess she still got what she wanted, in the end... I Ascended and became the Alicorn of Rebirth and Change, heralding a 'new age' and all that. I suppose it's my only destiny now... right?
Emperor Golden Scepter: "No... no, my little pony. It is not the only destiny you have... far from it, actually.
Crystal Prism: What makes you say that, Emperor?
Emperor Golden Scepter: I have the power to see the future of every pony on this planet. And yet, an old friend of mine taught me that 'nothing is truly set in stone'. Every person, divine and mortal, has the power to change and determine their fate, including you.
Crystal Prism: But... how can I do that if... if...?
Emperor Golden Scepter: You embody Change, do you not?
      Crystal Prism: Er... yes?
Emperor Golden Scepter: Then you have your answer. What that old mare and her crony did to you was wrong. However, you have more roads open to you now. What you will do with your life and your new divinity from this point on, is entirely up to you.
    • He would also receive advice on forging his own destiny from his divine ancestor, Prince Crystal Clear, who was enraged by what his young descendant went through.
Prince Crystal Clear: Change and Rebirth ain't bad by themselves. Yeah, bad changes happen, an' that always sucks. But good changes happen, too. If some flank-hole can change yer future and take control of yer life, then what's stoppin’ ya from doing the same?
    • Later on, he himself would suggest the option of directly averting bad futures to Katastrofa, who would become his friend during the "Temptation Unbound" event/conflict. By Crystal Prism's reasoning, Katastrofa already knows what's going to happen, so there's nothing stopping him from trying to change things. Katastropha, who is normally The Fatalist, was noted to have been caught completely off-guard.
  • Seers: He has what the Church of the Stars called "emotional foresight", which is actually an extremely rare type of empathy that gives prophetic visions about someone whenever he thinks strongly of them before going to bed. However, his emotions and sentiments must be strong enough for it to work.
    • He foresaw Midnight Bell falling into a deep depression over guilt towards her role in his Ascension, so he recommended Midnight to Mentálne, the young Bogolenya Deer-Draconequus goddess of Psychology, knowing that she needed help as much as he did.
    • He also foresaw Button Mash getting in trouble with the game-based Eldritch Abomination, CreepEntity513, and told Luminiferous about it. This is what allowed Luminiferous to help Button Mash fight CreepEntity513, by giving the Earth pony colt a trinket that'll allow him to aid Button from outside the game world and lend him his future potential.
  • Semi-Divine: Much like King/High-Prince Thorax, Crystal Prism is considered to be the equivalent of an infant divine, having ascended extremely early in his life. As such, while he's rendered physically ageless, he's extremely weak and inexperienced compared to many other deities of Equus. Many deities, including Rhiannon of the Coltic Pantheon, are interested in helping him Ascend to true godhood.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: While they're distantly related, he strongly resembles his ancestor, Prince Crystal Clear, as he has the latter's blond hair, white markings, blue pelt, and brown hooves. The resemblance lessened after he Ascended to demi-godhood, but it's still there.
  • Telepathy: He has telepathic abilities that allow him to summon butterflies for various needs. He can even talk to people through them.
  • Tranquil Fury: In one incident where he protected Ruby Heart from Poena, he angrily yet calmly warned the divine Tulpa that bad consequences will await her if she tried making Ruby change her beliefs to side with her. Mentálne saw his reaction as a major improvement for his recovering psyche, considering he used to display "terrifying" rages towards people who tried to force change for nefarious means.
  • Trauma Button: Deconstructed. While he eventually forgave Midnight Bell for her part in his transformation, the same couldn't be said for Noble Grace and Bubbling Beaker, and he tends to go into "terrifying" rages whenever he sees people subjecting others (especially young children) to horrible situations similar to his own. When the unicorn trio Decepticolt, Zappityhoof, and Goldencap wrongly assumed he was an Entitled Bastard who kept the secrets of Ascension to himself, he was enraged by their collective Lack of Empathy — a fact made worse by Decepticolt, Zappityhoof, and Goldencap's previous participation in the experiments that made him the way he presently is. However, through Mentálne's therapy, he's gradually getting over this, realizing that his anger towards such people might be unhealthy.
Crystal Prism: Back at home, two ponies thought it'd be a great idea to kidnap and use me for their experiments so they could create Alicorns, yet ended up with a monster. I was so angry at them for what they did to me that I would get super mad if I saw others do the same thing. I thought people like them were beyond forgiveness."
Ruby Heart: ...But now you don't?
Crystal Prism: ...Kinda. Still working on it, but I don't get angry as much as I used to. Mentálne helped me a lot... She taught me that not all people who do monstrous things are monstrous at heart, that they might actually regret what they did. She also said that those who don't feel sorry might be seriously messed up in the head.
  • Trauma Conga Line: He was kidnapped by two disgraced teachers/wanted criminals, subjected to horrible experiments in an attempt to turn him into an Alicorn, destabilized and became a dangerous magic-eating monster instead, killed by Luminiferous and the Equestrian Princesses to stop his rampage, and then revived/ascended when his own magic incubated him in a cocoon, turning him into an Alicorn. All because he teased a young Earth pony filly for being clumsy, which later caused Midnight Bell to lie about him to the aforementioned people responsible for his situation in the first place to save her own skin. Is it any wonder he came out so traumatized after all this?
  • They Would Cut You Up: In light of his Ascension, the Alicorn Ascendancy is looking to retrieve and experiment on him so they could learn how he became an Alicorn. Fortunately, he has many people on his side who are willing to protect him from the nefarious organization, such as the Coltic Pantheon and Scarlet Bell.
  • Winged Unicorn: He was once a Unicorn colt, but Ascended to demi-godhood as an Alicorn with hybrid pegasus-butterfly wings following a brutal Trauma Conga Line. Because Alicorns are generally divine royalty, he gets mistaken for one by "CreepEntity513"'s victims (except Button Mash, who had previously befriended him) when he arrived to lead them to safety. Unfortunately for him, the fact that he Ascended as a direct result of his creators' experiments gained the attention of the Alicorn Ascendancy, whose members have devoted themselves to looking for "the success" so they can perform more experiments to learn how he successfully Ascended.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Played with. Currently he's a demigod who looks like a teenage Alicorn, but chronologically he's still as young as the colt he once was and sometimes acts like his actual age. The reason why he tends to act mature and wiser than his age is because he went through a lot of bad experiences that required therapy to recover from, causing him to experience Character Development at the same time.
  • Younger Than They Look: Implied. His demigod form looks like a teenage Alicorn, but chronologically his age hasn't changed from when he was Page Wheel the unicorn colt. He's also roughly the same age as Midnight Bell, his neighbor and an Earth pony filly. Temnobog notes that he looks far too young to have Ascended into Alicornhood, implying that Ascension usually happens much later in life. This would make Crystal Prism almost literally the equivalent of a newborn divine.
  • Youthful Freckles: As shown by his folder images, he has white freckle-like markings all over his body as a sign of his youth. It was more pronounced in his life as Page Wheel, as it shows how innocent he was pre-Ascension. He still has them, but it contributes to his ethereal look as an Alicorn demigod now.

    Paragon Diamond, the Diamond Alicorn

Character: Anti-Villainous (Formerly)/Heroic

'Alignment: Lawful Evil (Formerly)/Lawful Good

Type: Homunculus, Crystal Golem, Pseudoalicorn, Artificial Being

Faction: Alicorn Ascendancy (Formerly), Grittish Isles

Paragon Diamond (her entry here) is a member of the Lights of Potential, and a creation of the Alicorn Ascendancy who broke free from their unfettered goals.
  • Our Homunculi Are Different: She's described as a homunculus, being a pseudoalicorn composed of magical crystal that is still nonetheless alive.

    Patchwork, the Living Tapestry

Character: Heroic

Alignment: Neutral Good

Type: Flesh Golem, Homunculus, Divine Champion, Pseudoalicorn

Faction: The Coltic Pantheon, the Grittish Isles

"Life dear to me. Will defend it!"

Patchwork (his entry here) is a "pseudo-Alicorn" who managed to become the hero of the Grittish Isles, and a divine champion of the Coltic pantheon despite his horrific origins.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Patchwork is a kind, heroic creature with the mind of a small child, but he's an extremely powerful and brutal when enraged. He ultimately ripped his creator's wings and horn off before snapping his neck to protect people.
  • Berserk Button: Do NOT hurt innocent children in his presence. He will go into a feral, violent rage to protect them.
  • Escaped from the Lab: Made a particularly violent one upon being enraged at the discovery of his 'father' Binding Stitch kidnapping and planning to experiment on children, releasing said imprisoned children and causing a fire that burnt it down in the process. While it was assumed that both of them perished, Patchwork would survive and end up wandering aimlessly around the countryside.
  • Frankenstein's Monster: Inspired by it, being a stitched together amalgamation of corpses created by a Mad Scientist and reanimated by lightning.
  • Gentle Giant: Patchwork is a hulking, extremely powerful stallion the size of Princess Celestia, but he's a kindhearted, gentle creature who just wants to be loved. The only time he turns aggressive is when he sees innocent creatures in harm's way.
  • Horrifying Hero: Being a stitched together collection of corpses tends to make one frightening in appearance, but he's a genuinely benevolent guy.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: Despite being feared and scorned for his unnatural existence, at the end of the day Patchwork is just a lost child beneath his horrific appearance and origins, wanting to be loved by others who care for him as much as he care for them. Fortunately unlike Frankenstein's monster he actually gets it thanks to Crystal Prism, Midnight Bell and Scarlet Bell.
  • Mix-and-Match Man: He was stitched together from various corpses, specifically those of gifted ponies of every pony race except for Flutter Ponies (who were believed extinct at the time).
  • Neck Snap: He killed Dr. Binding Stitch by breaking his neck. Then Patchwork threw his body down the castle walls to be broken by impact on the hard ground just to be absolutely sure.
  • Self-Made Orphan: He killed his creator Dr. Binding Stitch, but did so to protect innocent people from him. It's deconstructed as while it was a necessary act and no one blames him for it, killing his creator still traumatized him due to his childlike mindset, and needed therapy to get through it.
  • Super-Strength: Patchwork is freakishly strong, and his strength is further increased when he is struck by lightning thanks to his unique 'Neo-Galvanist' artificial biology.
  • Winged Unicorn: He was made to be an artificial Alicorn, and thus has the wings of a pegasus and unicorn horn among his components. However, he lacks PQ, though his creator was smart enough to graft a Musical Pony gem, Sea Pony tail, and Earth Pony muscle into him.
  • Younger Than They Look: He looks like a massive stallion about Celestia's size, but he's only a few years old with the mind to match.
  • You No Take Candle: Justified. Though he's physically an adult "Pseudoalicorn" that's taller than Celestia, he's mentally a small child and was never taught to speak properly, having been created by Dr. Binding Stitch for the sole purpose of studying the process of Ascension and treated like such. This is subverted later, as he's actually very intelligent; once he finally receives an education, his sentences become more coherent.

Professor Breaking Dawn, the Teacher of Life

Classification: Elemental/Ascendant

Portfolio: Dawn, Life, Future, Teaching

Rank: Divine (Tier I/Godling)

"Just like plants, children require care and proper nourishment in order to become something greater."

Professor Breaking Dawn (her entry here) is the Alicorn goddess of Dawn, Life, Future, and Teaching, and is a product of the Advent Arcana's unfettered quest to unlock the secrets of godhood.
  • Abstract Apotheosis: Twice.
    • After letting go of her grudge towards Celestia and reconciling with her, she decided she wanted to be a gardener and teacher later in life. These things would both culminate in her Ascension to demi-godhood... though she's not really sure on exactly how old she is biologically.
    • After confronting a mortal, magically-weakened Arcane Nexus, she would denounce her foalhood tormentor, pointing out that it was her and her friends' adoptive parents and teachers who helped them all Ascend, not the Alicorn Ascendancy, the Advent Arcana, or any of its rival factions. This would lead to her Ascending to true godhood, to her father Bossa Nova's joy and Arcane Nexus' utter shock.
  • All Your Powers Combined: As an Alicorn, she has the combined magics of all mortal Pony tribes, though she generally uses Earthpony magic because it gives her earth magic in addition to plant magic, both which are very helpful to gardeners like her.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's an Alicorn goddess who embodies Dawn, Life, Future, and Teaching.
  • Badass Teacher: She works as a teacher at Princess Amicitia's School of Friendship, and specializes in teaching Herbology. She's also a young but powerful Alicorn who embodies Dawn, Life, Future, and Teaching, and she survived a lot of horrors to get to where she is now. Among the things she did was break herself free of ancient, divinely-made artifacts designed to imprison full-blooded deities despite being a mere demigoddess.
  • Barrier Warrior: As a goddess of Dawn, she can create barriers made of morning light.
  • The Beastmaster: As a goddess of Life, she can achieve this to a degree via controlling Timberwolves. Her entry states that this is due to having plant magic as part of her domain, and Timberwolves are a species of Planimals.
  • Caring Gardener: She is an experienced gardener who knows how to cultivate a large variety and plants, and can enhance her skills with Earthpony magic. Despite her trauma and other flaws, she is a compassionate teacher who deeply cares for all of her students and sees them as plants to be nurtured and cared for. In her free time, she enjoys gardening and keeps a private garden in the divine realm she calls home. By her admission, she loved growing plants as a filly, which is why she quickly took to using plant magic when the Advent Arcana tested her. Because of her love for gardening, she would end up connecting with other gardeners with Princess Wysteria and Smellba II, the three of them sharing notes.
  • Deity of Human Origin: She was once an ordinary Pegasus who was used as a test subject by the Advent Arcana. However, it's not until she's adopted by Bossa Nova Heartstrings and mentored by Celestia that she Ascends to demi-godhood. After denouncing Arcane Nexus and the Advent Arcana, she Ascends to true godhood.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Being an Alicorn, she has access to Earthpony magic, which gives her earth magic. This helps her garden more efficiently.
  • Don't Split Us Up: Despite her group being rescued by various benevolent deities, she resisted being adopted because of a prophetic vision she had of a crowd taking away her friends one by one until she was the last to go. For their part, some of said deities were reluctant to separate them, but they ultimately agreed it was the lesser of two evils, since the alternative (having the children stay together and risk them being kidnapped all at once) is even worse. Fortunately, she and her friends would be adopted by loving parents (in her case, her adopter is Bossa Nova Heartstrings), and they are all allowed to remain in contact with each other so they won't feel so isolated and lonely in their new lives.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: Justified; she's a Seer, even before she Ascended to godhood and gained the Future domain.
    • While living on the run with her group of friends, she had a nightmarish precognitive vision where she and her friends are surrounded by a huge crowd and taken away one by one, with her completely helpless to stop it. The vision terrified her so much that she began devoting more effort in staying away from large settlements even when it's less convenient, and later resisted adoption after she and her group are rescued by various benevolent deities.
    • After the last of her friends Ascended to godhood, she would receive another precognitive vision where she and her friends are playing, when dark shadows came to try take them all at once. Instead of running off on her own as she did previously after learning of Celestia's involvement in the Alicorn Ascendancy's rise, she informed her father and her mentor, leading to Bossa Nova and Celestia warning everyone about what was believed to be an impending attack from the Advent Arcana.
  • Energy Weapon: As a goddess of Dawn, she can manifest her light magic as searing beams.
  • Goggles Do Nothing: Averted. She wears a pair of safety goggles (among other protective gardening gear like hoof gloves, an apron, and boots) to protect her eyes from being affected while gardening.
  • Green Thumb: As a foal, she proved herself to be exceptionally talented with plant magic, which spurred the Advent Arcana to begin experimenting on her. Post-Ascension, her domain of Life gives her some degree of plant manipulation, as she can move them and control their growth through their life-force. It also allows her to be The Beastmaster to a degree, as she can control Timberwolves through this power.
  • Healing Hands: As a goddess of Dawn, she can heal people with morning light. When combined with her Life domain, she can heal withered plants by touching them with morning light. During the morning, where she is at her strongest, she can even revive the dead.
  • Holy Hand Grenade: As a goddess of Dawn, she can generate morning light that has purification properties, allowing her to counter foul magics and entities. When combined with her domain of Life, she can kill malicious, darkness-thriving plants.
  • The Leader: Of her Ragtag Bunch of Misfits when they were living as fugitives. During this period, she looked after the foals she escaped from the Advent Arcana with, and made sure they were all fed, sheltered, and safe from shady people. She would also teach them many ways to survive, including thievery (much to her shame later on). When her group enlarged due to other runaways joining it, she would have the older members help her look after the younger ones. This allowed her group to survive as long as it did, which is noted to be impressive given the harsh circumstances at the time.
  • Light 'em Up: As a goddess of Dawn, she possesses powerful light magic, being capable of manifesting it as searing beams, barriers, constructs, and other things. In her case, she can generate morning light, which has its own unique properties such as making optical reflections appear brighter, purifying foul magics and entities, and healing people. She can also make extremely hot flashes of light that instantly incinerate anyone unlucky enough to be caught in them, though this can be disadvantageous if her allies are within the vicinity.
  • Magic Hair: Post-Ascension, her mane and tail became composed of rippling Dawn energy, resembling the morning sky and possessing a gradient going from golden-yellow to sky-blue.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Teacher of Life", due to being a goddess of Life who teaches her students valuable lessons through gardening.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is a term that refers to a time that indicates it's almost dawn/morning, which is also when the sun starts rising.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Her true form as an Alicorn contains chimeric traits of all mortal Pony tribes, such as Musical Ponies, Flutter Ponies, Sea Ponies, and the lesser-known Night Ponies.
  • Modest Royalty: Subverted. While she refuses to wear barding, she does wear a golden-yellow suit to formal events. Many traditionalist deities have tried making her wear divine barding so she can look more respectable and dignified, but she refuses to listen to them.
  • Past Experience Nightmare: She would have guilt-fueled nightmares over killing some Acolytes with her own power, even if she did so to protect her friends from them.
  • Patricide: Invoked by Bossa Nova Heartstrings. When she threatens to burn her friends and family with her light magic if they continue getting in her way, Bossa Nova offers her the chance to kill him. While killing her own adoptive father is disturbing on its own, she was horrified when she learned that doing so would also kill her uncle, Blue Suede Heartstrings, due to him sharing a twin bond with Bossa Nova. This causes her to break down in tears, realizing she actually doesn't have it in her to kill those she loves.
  • Playing with Fire: As a goddess of Dawn, she can manifest solar flames.
  • The Power of the Sun: As a goddess of Dawn, she possesses some degree of solar magic, such as manifesting solar flames and controlling the Sun to prolong mornings. She is also at her strongest in the morning, her powers enhanced to the point of reviving the dead.
  • Rage Against the Mentor: After learning Celestia founded the Alicorn Ascendancy, making her indirectly responsible for the Advent Arcana's rise and all the suffering she and her friends went through, and kept it a secret for years, she verbally tears Celestia a new one and disowns her as her mentor, seeing Celestia as a lying, selfish Hypocrite who is not so different from the Acolytes who experimented on her. Understandably, they wouldn't reconcile until Celestia gives her a heartfelt apology for her own actions and acts on her promise to make it up to her and her friends.
Breaking Dawn: All my life, I was LIED to! Told that if I did this or that, every-Pony's lives would be happier! MY LIFE would be happier! I thought you'd be different, but NO! You're just like THEM!
Celestia: Breaking Dawn, please, listen to me-!
Breaking Dawn: BUCK OFF! You started all this, and for what?! Because you were LONELY?! I HATE you! I HATE liars and selfish Ponies like you! I don't want to see your ugly, lying face EVER AGAIN!
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: Before being rescued and adopted, she was the leader of a group of fugitives that contained members of various races, including Ponies, Diamond Dogs, Deer, Dragons, and Griffons. They're all children who fled captivity from the Alicorn Ascendancy's various sub-factions, and while on the run, they became very tight-knit. They're eventually rescued by various benevolent deities following a fight with pursuing Acolytes from the Advent Arcana; while they resist being adopted at first, they relent after some convincing, and are allowed to remain in contact with each other so they won't feel isolated and lonely.
  • Secret Project Refugee Family: She, the Pony foals she rescued from the Advent Arcana, and other child escapees from various rival offshoots would band together and slowly become a tight-knit group after spending some time living on the run. However, it's later subverted when they are adopted into different pantheons by various benevolent deities following their discovery and rescue. While the children did resist adoption at first and some of said deities were reluctant to separate them after what they've been through, it was ultimately agreed that separation is the lesser of two evils compared to the alternative (which was risking the children getting kidnapped all at once if put together in one place). They're also allowed to remain in contact with each other so they wouldn't feel isolated in their new lives.
  • Self-Duplication: As a goddess of Teaching, she can make magical clones of herself for multitasking.
  • Semi-Divine: She would become an Alicorn demigoddess by letting go of her grudge against Celestia for indirectly creating the Advent Arcana and choosing to become a teacher and gardener. A series of events afterward would culminate in her Ascending to true godhood.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: She wears reading glasses due to being a teacher. She's also a skilled gardener, cook, and teacher who specializes in teaching Herbology.
  • Stop Worshipping Me: Unlike most of her family, she refuses to become a divine sovereign because she feels extremely uncomfortable with being worshiped and receiving special privileges just for being a goddess. She fears that if she does become one, she'll end up fulfilling Arcane Nexus' intentions for her to be a leader anyway. Her adoptive uncle, Blue Suede/Caerulus, has been helping her overcome her fears regarding this, having recognized the same fears that contributed to his near-Fall.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: She's an avid lover of pizza and sandwiches. By her own admission, when she first discovered pizza, she loved it so much that she ate a lot of it. Being a gardener and a cook helps, as she can create her own pizzas and sandwiches.
  • Winds of Destiny, Change!: Luminiferous believes that her domain of Future might give her other unique abilities like probability manipulation or outright changing people's futures.
  • Winged Unicorn: Post-Ascension, she is a beautiful Alicorn with a golden-yelow and sky-blue mane and tail composed of rippling Dawn energy, resembling the morning sky. Her wings are dual-colored; on the outside they're black, but underneath her feathers are made of golden sunlight (she lacks a wing gradient like many of her adoptive family members, though, due to her young age). Her golden body and facial markings shimmer like stars, and her overall presence has a faint glow.
  • World-Healing Wave: As a goddess of Life, she can restore dead lands, making them grow plants again while granting them increased fertility. This allows her to increase production of fruit, vegetables, and other edible plants. However, she can make the lands barren again just as easily to punish wicked individuals.
  • World-Wrecking Wave: As a goddess of Life, she can render fertile lands barren to punish wicked individuals.
