Question: should Jeremiah Valeska/The Joker remain a Complete Monster? He’s rather Ambiguously Evil if you ask me. Yes, he claims that the Joker Toxin did nothing but alter his appearance but at the same time... he’s under the influence of whatever Jerome put in the insanity gas, so he’s clearly not right in the head.

I'm also confused as to why Hugo Strange of all people is a Complete Monster when he was willing to die at the hands of his own nuke rather than let the monsters he'd created loose on the world, making him very much a Noble Demon and an example of Even Evil Has Standards even though bad writing reduces him to a Dirty Coward Butt-Monkey for the rest of the series. I would have thought Jervis Tetch would be in there considering his atrocities were every bit as awful as Strange's and he sexually harassed his own sister.

Though I was not the one to add it there in the first place, why was the Broken Base entry about the reaction to the Penguin's romantic interest in the Riddler removed? I did some scouring of the internet and it seems like there is a fairly significant number of fans who don't like the development. Perhaps not enough to bump the ship down from Fan-Preferred Couple status, but definitely noticeable. And if it appears that this is simply due to homophobia, that's not exactly the case either; common reasons I've seen are that it's cliched drama that reduces Oswald's arc in S3 to pining over Ed and being catty (which would further the perceived Badass Decay), the two characters had nice chemistry as friends and this twist seems forced/too quickly rushed, and both men are straight in the source material, with Penguin in particular being a known lover of the ladies (aka comic purism, which Gotham admittedly is loose with already). (This link provides some insight, for reference.)

It was (rightfully) pulled because it wasn't a Broken Base entry, it was straight up complaining.

It can certainly be readded, but it can't be readded as "People disliked this twist" but rather "this was polarizing, some people liked it, some did not" which in my limited experience (I haven't finished S2) definitely applies. It was just written in a way that does not.

  • Jervis is shown targeting and later murdering two different couples. Two different interracial couples. While it could be that Gotham is a diverse city, what are the odds of him killing two different couples with a white guy and a black woman?

Pulled this from under Unfortunate Implications. Citation is required.

Fish was listed under both The Scrappy & Ensemble Dark Horse, which are mutually exclusive. I'm leaving her Base Breaker entry, as it's a compromise between the two tropes.

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Fish Mooney appeared to have acquired quite a fanbase despite the hatred she'd receieved for being "over-the-top" and a pointless addition to the story. She gets to show her guile and eventually becomes a Dark Action Girl from Episode 13 and so on.

  • The Scrappy: Fish Mooney has a considerable amount of haters for being a Large Ham with a short fuse, was a clear Creator's Pet and failing to realize her place in her attempts to usurp Falcone. Hell, some viewers even wrongfully criticize her actress Jada Pinkett Smith herself, when Smith is just doing her job, and are ecstatic when Oswald pushes Fish off a building in the Season 1 finale.

Even if they weren't mutually exclusive Fish isn't a minor character, so she wouldn't be an Ensemble Dark Horse.

Can anyone find even 1 citation for these claims? Anyone?

  • Unfortunate Implications: It's been noted by a few reviewers like the AV Club that Oswald can easily come off as a classic Depraved Homosexual with his effeminate mannerisms and obsession with Gordon. On top of how the explicit homosexual relationship between Barbara and Montoya is portrayed as extremely unhealthy and something Barbara is well rid of, you've got some nasty undercurrents building up.

If not, we need to follow wiki rules and keep it off the page. Really, just a simple link to another website will do.
