Find a Trope:
openIn-universe Never Live It Down + interactive books
Firstly, I feel like I remember us having an in-universe version of Never Live It Down. Do we, or am I misremembering?
Secondly, what's the trope where (usually children's) books include instructions for activities that are related to the content of the book? For example, the last page of Thunder Cake is a recipe for the titular thunder cake.
Edited by rachiebirdopenKillerKids
Do we have a trope for where a murderer is a minor?
For example, the episode in Law & Order where they caught a girl who murdered a boy For the Evulz.
In Bones, the murderer of this teenager boy turned out to be his girlfriend’s younger brother, who didn’t want to be separated from his sister and misunderstood the whole situation.
Edited by partner555openCovered wrist of vulnerability
When a character is feeling very vulnerable, his or her long sweater sleeve covers the wrist and part of his or her hand. Examples: In Doctor Who, Rose's sweater when Rose and the Doctor are separated forever in Doomsday. In Veronica Mars, Logan cries; sweater covers wrist and part of hand.
Edited by smalletopenVictory roar
Is there a trope where a monster or beast does a roar after winning a fight? I can't seem to find anything like it and the only things that come to mind is Roar before beating and Mighty Roar
openThey're both oblivious to each other
We probably have this one, but I can't remember the name of it: two people are attracted to each other, but they both think their target of affection isn't attracted to them.
openMemory Trigger
An amnesiac character gets their memory back upon seeing an important aspect of their previous life. Sort of like Trauma Button, but the retrieved memories aren't negative.
openAside Glare
Person A says something stupid, and Person B shoots a Death Glare at the camera, as if said camera (or it's operator) is to blame.
Edited by GofastmikeopenBoth sides are cheating in the competition
Is there a trope for when two (or more) people are in some sort of competition and they're both cheating at it?
For example, the poker game in The Sting: Lonnegan is cheating to insure that he gets a winning hand and gets beaten when Gondorff cheats to give himself a hand that beats Lonnegan's?

Is a game having a free version, then an improved paid version, is that Updated Re-release?
- The Logomancer
- Brave Hero Yuusha
- Fairy Bloom (Perhaps.)
- Soma Spirits
openYou Guys Are So Dead Once I Learn How To Fight
Threatening someone with what you will do if you can actually fight back.
Edited by AndermannopenDetermined Sole Survivor
A Sole Survivor who is not fettered by Survivor Guilt, to either continue the mission they were given or because of "that's what they would want" case. Possibly both.
Bonus points if they're trying to make the dead live on in some metaphorical way.
Edited by PinkCelebiopenPilot > Mech Anime
An Ace Pilot pushes his ride so hard that it starts falling apart around him.
openFirst Girl, but not romantic?
I'm trying to see if this is a trope: one where a female was considered the main heroine, until subtle hints throughout the story showed someone else was all along.
Edited by WilliePete36openIncompetent AI
An Artificial Intelligence is either incompetent, or is viewed by other people as such. At first I put those examples in a work under A.I. Is a Crapshoot but I don't feel so confident, since they're not evil. I didn't transfer them in the main trope page.
Edited by LermisopenCant save past the ending Videogame
Once you finish the game and the credits roll it takes you to the main menu, when you load your file, you start from your last save point like nothing happened
open'Power Piggybacking'
You know when a character is essentially borrowing powers/abilities from a more powerful character? Maybe Character A is a Human-shaped Soul-jar for Character B? Examples are stuff like how in the first Kingdom Hearts, most of Sora's abilities are being unconsciously drawn from Ventus or in Devil May Cry 4 Nero starts using a lot of Virgil's abilities once he gets Yamato.
A comedy trope where a woman is instantly attracted (or even goes from prude to lustful) after an extremely minor romantic act by a man. Pretty much Always Female, men being assumed to be always horny and unromantic by default.
In Kaamelott, Mevanwi learns that Arthur takes multiple baths per week, asks if he's just saying that to turn her on, and jumps him right after he confirms it (being previously married to a man who keeps a live pig in their bed in case of a siege).
In Futurama, a woman immediately falls for a male robot after he says "my favorite things are commitment and changing myself" (and a watching Leela asks if the robot has a brother).
