[up] How about: "In his pre-fight cut scene, he have the power to disappear and re-appear at will, but he never uses that power when you fight him."

For the Youtube subtitles, I'm talking about the subtitles of every single Animator VS antimation videos. Youtube has an option to let people put subtitles, that's what I'm talking about.

Okay, then it'd be great if you could re-write the example to clarify that fact about the subtitles.

I'm not sure how to do it but her's my try.

Word of Dante: While most videos have no dialogues, they all have subtitles on Youtube made by fans, giving dialogues to characters, jokes and even fan names for the five main character in Animation Vs Minecraft. While this is all fan interpretations since anyone can add subtitles on the Youtube videos, many people think the subtitles are actually official when in reality, Alan didn't write any of them and even made a videos where he reacted to them for the first time.

I don't really know how to explain better that the subtitles on the ""Animator Vs Animation'' videos are fanmade and not canon. I suggest you watch a random one with subtitles activated to see what I mean.

Dialogue does not need to be pluralized. I'm also assuming "a videos" refers to a single video. If not, replace "a video" with "videos."

Word of Dante: While most videos have no dialogue, fans often provide subtitles that add extra content, such as dialogue, jokes, and Fan Nicknames for the characters. Although anybody can add subtitles to the YouTube videos, many people believe these are official canon, not just fan interpretations. Alan did not write any of them, and even made a video where he reacted to them for the first time.

Hello. I am not suspended or anything, but may I request some assistance? I recurringly see tropers using the word "electrocution" to describe events in which characters are hurt by an electric shock, even if it's something as minor as touching a wire from a household appliance. However, pretty much every online dictionary I checked describes the word as a shock that kills (or at least severely injures) the victim. So, has the word undergone semantic change, is this colloquially acceptable or is it just plain incorrect word usage?

I'd say if it's a mild shock (like touching a metal doorknob with wool socks) it probably isn't electrocution, but if it sends electricity down your whole body, like the type of shocks to cause X-Ray Sparks, "electrocution" is probably the right word. A specific example could help determine if it fits. I've seen more mild shocks (like a faultily wired lamp) still have serious enough long-term effects that I'm not averse to using "electrocuted" but I've never really thought much about the semantics...

^ Actually, you nailed it. X-Ray Sparks is the very page that confused me. Several examples there talk about characters being "electrocuted" when in reality they only suffer Amusing Injuries and are shown to be fine mere seconds afterwards. Guess I'll just leave the page alone, then. Thanks!

Amusing Injuries doesn't mean the injury wouldn't be serious in real life, so I think "electrocution" to refer to a visibly painful and serious electric shock that hits the whole body would still quality.

  • The Simpsons: Homer Simpson does this mockingly in "Stark Raving Dad" after Leon tells him that he wore one white glove covered in rhinestones.
  • The Flintstones: In "The Little Visitor," Fred thinks that Wilma is going to have a baby. After the "little visitor" Fred hear about turns out to be the Flintstones' paperboy, Fred burbles his lips from the shock of the news.

Thanks! This example come from The Troll Hunter by Demon Duck Of Doom

  • Downer Ending: Our heroes defeat the rabid troll, and are about to go home... Then the government comes and disappears all of them.
For me, I was baffled that someone use the word disappear as a verb . I mean it's like saying "a person disappear a dog" instead of "a person kidnaps a dog". I don't know if I'm wrong but what do you think? Also sorry for spoiler tags.

There are contexts where "disappear" can be used to describe the government making somebody disappear, so that might be correct.

Henry Stickmin Series

  • Cartoon Cheese: In Diamond, Henry can eat a classic cartoon cheese. for some reasons, it counts as a fail even if nothing bad happen to him, he just ate a cheese.
  • Whoopee Cushion: In Complex, during the "ghost" route, Henry can distract 2 guards by throwing a whoopee cushion tied to a rock in the room. The two guards will then fight each others thinking the other farted, giving Henry an oportunity to sneak past them.

Riddle School - Characters (Phil Eggtree)

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: In Riddle Transfer 1, he describes stars as being "gigantic gyrotastic gaseous galactic gravity globes".

You Gotta Have Blue Hair

  • Most characters in Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun have unusual hair colors, such has Iruma who has blue hair, Azz who has pink hair, Clara who has light green hair and many other characters. Iruma stands out the most because he's supposed to be a normal human in a world of demons.

The Legend Of Zelda CD-i games - Character (Hektan)

  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: He teleports a lot in his pre-fight cutscene, but he never uses this power in an actual fight.
  • Off-Model: He appears to have cyan hair in cutscenes, but his sprites show him having white hair. He also looks a bit fatter on his sprites than in cutscenes.
  • One-Hit-Point Wonder: One single sword strike is enough to kill him.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: His long beard and the few scalp hair he have are cyan.

Sock Series

  • Acid Attack: Ceriazibus uses a rather gruesome variant. When their guts are flailling around out of their body, they spew gastric acid everywhere.
  • Body Horror: The series as a whole is ripe with this
    • After Ceriazibus slices a giant plant that crushed them, they have a big hole in their belly and their organs are flailling around. Their big wound also appears to have teeths.
    • People affected by Sock's radiation powers become horrific masses of flesh.
    • When Sock's owner find the receipt for his evil hamster, he suddenly starts to cry lava, then when Sock is turned into a cross by his cultists and seemingly brings the apocalypse to Earth, the owner's head turns into stone with a big hole spewing lava. It's like a became a fusion between a stick figure and a volcano.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: All humans look like actual humans in a stylized artstyle like you would expect to see in a children book (even if this series is ''anything'' but that). Sock's owner however, looks like a stick figure with thick arms and legs.
  • Skewed Priorities: At the end of Empire, Sock's owner is looking in his house's wreckages for Sock's receipt, all while sporting a mildly annoyed expression, despite the fact that the city he lives him just got completely destroyed by a demonic hamster, an army of monsters from hell and three gods. He's even happy to find the receipt as if bringing back his evil hamster to the pet shop would change anything.

Here's a start.

  • Cartoon Cheese: In Diamond, Henry can eat a classic cartoon cheese. For some reasons, it counts as a fail even if nothing bad happens to him.
  • Whoopee Cushion: In Complex during the "ghost" route, Henry can distract two guards by throwing a whoopee cushion tied to a rock into the room. The two guards will think the other farted and fight each other, giving Henry an opportunity to sneak past them.

Riddle School example looks good.

  • Most characters in Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun have unusual hair colors. Iruma has blue hair, Azz has pink hair, and Clara has light green hair, for example. Iruma stands out the most because he's a normal human in a world of demons. I'm not entirely sure if the trope counts in a setting where everybody has multicolored hair, though.

  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Looks good.
  • Off-Model: He appears to have cyan hair in cutscenes, but has white hair in his sprites. He also looks a bit fatter in his sprites than in cutscenes.
  • One-Hit-Point Wonder: Looks good.
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: His long beard and the few hairs he has on his scalp are cyan.

  • Acid Attack: Does "they" refer to Ceriazibus? Is Ceriazibus a plural entity or single thing? Is "they" a plural pronoun or a gender-neutral single pronoun here?[down] In that case it's good.

[up] Ceriazibus is a single creature whose gender is unknown (they also have 3 heads but that's a bonus for the choice of using the "them" pronoun). I prefer to not use "it" when the creature do have a name.

I went on Trope Talk and You Gotta Have Blue Hair still works if most characters have unnatural hair colors.

Need your help with my grammer for my new example from Rumble in the Bronx :

  • Clothing Damage: Played for Laughs. In the last scene, Keung riding a hovercraft along with Nancy and Elaine to run over White Tiger in the golf course. Shredding the back of his clothes, leaving him butt-naked.

Not thrilled using passive voice for "clothes get shredded" but I don't know exactly what shreds Keung's clothes in this context so I'm playing it safe.
