During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

As it looks like Marie L'Angelle's been heavily agreed on, should we go ahead and add her to the Complete Monster Drafts? Or do I need to cut it down further? Or any other details from the evaluation post I should add in?
- Preacher (2016): Marie L'Angelle is the head of the Angelville plantation, the grandmother of Jesse Custer, and a major source of pain in Jesse's life. A very long time ago, Marie made a Deal with the Devil himself to make herself virtually immortal by consuming the souls of others, stealing said souls from clients who don't pay their debts for her voodoo services. After her daughter, Christina, eloped with John Custer, Marie ordered her stomach cut open when she tried to hide a photo of Jesse from her. After ordering the death of John Custer, she forcefully took Jesse under her wing, physically and emotionally abusing him while trying to keep him under her thumb and forcing him to participate in her twisted family business. Many years after leaving that life behind, Jesse returns to Angelville to have Marie bring Tulip O'Hare Back from the Dead, but it comes at the price of a blood contract. With her holding Tulip's life as leverage and threatening to consume her soul out of a sense of ownership, Jesse is forced into Marie's service and subject to the same abuse once again until he can get his soul back from the Grail. Motivated solely by her desire to live forever and someone who sees people, even her own family, as little more than tools that she can dispose of once she has no further use for them, Marie L'Angelle is a cruel, selfish, vengeful, and manipulative human being that sticks out like a sore thumb in a setting that runs on Black-and-Gray Morality.

I think it looks fine, though you could change the Abusive Parents pothole to Offing the Offspring, since Jesse's mother died after being cut open, since Marie ordered T.C. and Jody not to stitch her up and let her bleed out.

Actually, for Marie, does Wicked Witch actually work?
Mir: Done. And while I'm at it, here's a de/re-potholed Vindi:
- Dr. Nuvo Vindi, from the season 1 two-parter "Blue Shadow Virus" and "Mystery of a Thousand Moons", is the Mad Scientist who recreated the titular virus, a disease that kills all who contract it and which no lifeform is immune to, after it had been wiped from the galaxy. Vindi not only brought the virus back, he converted it to an airborne strain so it could spread more easily. Vindi's ultimate plan is to send a virus-laden bomb to each key Republic star system, creating a galaxy-wide plague that could kill entire planetary populations. When his operation ss put at risk by the Republic, Vindi just decides to prematurely activate the bombs while they're still on world, with the intention of killing everyone on Naboo, himself included. Though hired by the Separatists to perform these actions, it's clear that Vindi takes great joy in his work, and sees unleashing the revived virus as passing judgement on the galaxy that once "murdered" it.

- Chaos Dragonlord Vath not only enslaved the dwarves, but also his own dragon. He doesn't care how much pain and suffering he's causing the dwarves in the slightest and doesn't even care if they starve to death, as long as they can forge enough Chaos Gemeralds to keep him happy. Worse yet, Vath even threatens to enslave the rest of Lore and will throw the bodies of anyone who tries to foil his plans down to the dwarves as a demonstration of what happens to those who oppose his might.
- Chaos Lord Krellenos chaorrupted his brother Antiphuus and allowed his kin to blame the Horcs for his death. He proceeded to steal an Arashtite ore of the Accord of the Dark Sun from the Ravine Temple to chaorrupt friends and family alike, doing so to his family and to the Horcs as well.He began using the chaorrupted generals of both sides of the Alliance to try to shatter said Alliance and get the Hero blamed for it all. Krellenos proved willing to sacrifice anything — even family — for Chaos power all while starting a huge war.

So, funny story. I started replaying Summon Night: Swordcraft Story for a few hours to make sure if a certain villain from the game is a CM, then I checked the YMMV page and found out said character got proposed and accepted months ago. Something like that ever happen to you guys?

But I believe the biggest of them all would be Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple, The Rising Of The Shield Hero, Lord Marksman And Vanadis and Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. I was originally going to check those works until I saw both examples getting approved to the point I turned it down and make myself hard founding some examples :/

For the Holmes page, I won't request locking until all the pending entries are done (no rush). The Elementary writeup needs to go to the Drafts, Scraggle's got his Ripper one, and I think Lighty said he's got one from the original stories.
