During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. " to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Cut the Misfits dude
for Giuseppe Gorgiano. A murder mystery story where the intended victim kills the murderer before he can commit any (on-screen) murder? That’s a new one.
for Schrott.
Cut the Misfits guy.
I have no idea and I'm starting to wonder where you pull this line of questioning from: wait until discussion, play the game yourself, watch a video of it from start to finish... there are a thousand resources to get the answer to that yourself and constantly asking us here stuff like this—especially before it can even be discussed—isn't gonna do it. This is one of a few times I've seen you jump discussion date to ask some random question so maybe you can help me understand what's prompting this?
Put the King back up and insert a note saying playing around with the entry before it's kosher for discussion is mod actionable.
I have hollered the offending post. May have jumped the gun.

Feels good, don't it?Cut Misfits dude, calling the likely Quantic Dreams' Star Wars game, David Cage's a creep but I want that.
Tonight I dine on monkey soup.for Schrott and cut the Misfit duo.
So since Rick and Morty was discussed in the MB forum and people where getting off topic and talking about the possibility of a cm in the show, I might as well discuss it here now, especially since I did reserved discussion of it. Evil Morty could have had a chance if he in any other show but in the this show, he's way too pragmatic to really be considered heinous, especially compared to Rick who also doesn't count and will never count as a result of having lost his wife and daughter to another Rick. Long story short no one counts with the heinous standard being way too high as it is, and Rick and Morty has as much chance of getting a CM as South Park does (which is for those who don't understand the comparison, that's a 1 out of a 1,000,000,000).

Sky, might be best to stop announcing you've 'hollered the offending posts' and please give people some time to correct their mistakes.
Schrott.
Why so serious? Also I think it was asked and said that we're not allowed to mention that were calling mods on people.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Yeah, it's kinda like both public shaming and almost like giving anyone who made a post they shouldn't have get time to cover it up and act like they didn't do anything: doesn't really help on either end.
Also Lighty you wanna suffer through the Riverdale-Sabrina crossover with me?
Cut that music entry.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsSchrott. Cut the Misfits guy.
Cut the Misfits dude. I thought he didn’t qualify as well but there were other people on the board at the time and they decided against it. It’s a bit more contentious with Jack The Ripper since he’s not played for laughs like the other one but the song lacks much detail at all so he’s also a cut for me.
Speaking Music CM’s, I’m considering doing an EP on “Devil’s Son” by Big L, but the problem is that horrorcore is really gruesome in general. The song has more narrative detail than “OOH AHH I KILL PEOPLE”, similarly to “Mind of a Lunatic”, which got 2 characters in here due to being more narrative.
cut the Misfits dude
This is exactly why I don't like candidates coming from songs and I tend to abstain on those.

Who exactly proposed the Misfits dude? Cut him though.
CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesThe EP, if anyone’s curious - the idea that the song lacked substance was raised, but it was ultimately side-stepped

Speaking of cuts, I think it's about time we cut The Joker... the Gameboy version anyway.
Here's a Longplay I used for reference
Here's the current writeup
- Batman: The Animated Series (Game Boy): The Joker plots to smuggle a bunch of teddy bears containing bombs filled with Joker Venom into Gotham to have them go off and kill many people, openly telling Batman about his plan in advance so as to lure Batman in an attempt to kill him. The Joker later shoots the Batplane out of the sky in an attempt to kill Batman and Robin, not caring about potential collateral deaths caused by the crash.
The reason why I think he should be cut is pretty much nothing he does in this game stands out compared to what other Jokers have done and more. In the first level of the game, he tries to set a bunch of explosive teddy bears on Gotham... and that's it. And trying to kill Gotham citizens is just Tuesday for him (Especially because in the show Joker has done much worse, and in the context of the game, Mr. Freeze also attempts to destroy Gotham). We don't even see any of the bears endanger any civilians, so the threat they pose is kind of fridge and offscreen.
The second part he shows up in, the final level, he blows up the Batwing and attempts to kill Batman and Robin... and that's it. He just shows up out of nowhere and attempts to kill them, and there's no given reason why. Also, the part where it says "not caring about potential collateral deaths caused by the crash", well not only does The Joker not care, but the game doesn't care either, as it's not even mentioned as a possibility that civilians will be harmed. Once again, fridge.
In short, I don't think this version of The Joker counts because everything he does in this game you'd see in a kid's comic about Batman, anything that could make him more vile is just fridge horror, and all his crimes are nothing other versions of The Joker could do much worse, and with much more crimes to add on top of that.
Cut Misfits Guy and GB Joker. Yes to Schott.

Misfits guy seems like a cut.
Just wanted to let people know, someone cut King's entry from YMMV.Deltarune - I've restored it with an edit reason saying to not remove the entry without coming here first
