Odd TV Tropes confessions

That feeling when I've sandboxed two drafts for the same concept, one called Faked Neutrality and the other Third Party Traitor, only to miraculously discover Neutral in Name Only has been launched in between those brainstorms.

Sometimes I wish users could just upload videos without mod approval.

Sometimes I want barge into the EB thread and answer all the stupid questions there, such as the "why get no response yet?"

I didn't think the Fidough Cult stuff was funny honestly

It was a very weird time of my life because while at first it was mostly just people I consider friends and I goofing around, it spread to the point where I started to confuse myself for other tropers and vice-versa, which is why I eventually made the inverted avatar. I thought it was Actually Pretty Funny for a while but eventually I just wanted to stop being copied.

My Fidough in Pokémon Scarlet even got tired of the cult and evolved into Dachsbun to escape it.

I had actually never even heard of Buffy the Vampire Slayer before joining this site.

same for me, and I don't plan on watching it.

I think at one point I was planning to actually add things to my troper page, but honestly, now I feel content with just leaving it empty.

My personal pet peeves:

• When someone points that my sandbox needs more work even after I've already said it.
• When someone interprets my curious question as an argument or as leading.
• When someone presents something as a rule when there's no such policy.
• Inbounds getting in the way of the maintenance.

TBF, for the second one, it's easy for someone (especially a neurodivergent one) to misunderstand the tone of what a person says online since it's all text.

Whenever I see a new trope launched, I always check the draft to make sure it was actually launched by the sponsor.

I've already said my pet peeve is when a trope name misuses a preexisting term in a way that's more specific than the offsite meaning at best and completely incorrect at worst. I'll probably do a wick check for Grandfather Clause at some point (after I'm done with the one I have lined up for Dead Horse Genre, which is on hiatus), because it's specifically for characters who are still allowed to use an outdated trope after it became outdated because the trope was grandfathered in, but even on the site the preexisting meaning of the term appears to be significantly more prevalent than what whoever launched it had in mind. It's also telling that Square Peg, Round Trope, the official list of common ways tropes are misused, doesn't list it despite listing other common forms of misuse. (I think expanding the trope to what the term means in everyday usage would be the easiest, but splitting off Grandfather Clause Character wouldn't be out of the question if that definition is common enough.)

I like it when I see the pages I made (mostly Creator pages) get linked to on other pages. It makes me feel like I really made an impact on the wiki.

I feel that way when people start editing pages I've made. At least four of them have gotten picked up by multiple editors who weren't me (Dad, Andy's Apple Farm, and Pikasprey and Summoning Salt), and it's always fun to see.

I hate it whenever a cut trope had a great image (e.g. The Pennyfarthing Effect).

Aren't all zero-context examples frowned upon anyway?

probably, but that just really grinds my gears

It's also a pain when people think keeping an example from being a ZCE is a matter of how much text there is instead of what the text says, leading to examples that feature a lot of Word Cruft, but don't actually explain how something is an example.

I don't like using Image Pickin

I used to at least sort of be a regular there, but I gradually lost interest for reasons I can't pinpoint. I started posting there not long after I started posting on TRS, but with TRS I ended up with more of a presence there over time, which is sort of the opposite of where my IP activity went.
