Misused (new crowner 15 January 2022): Wiki Tropes

It's been no extra progress despite the second plug. I still think it's time we start wrapping up. Do whatever isn't done yet (if there's anything) and save the unresolved cases for future threads.

Should we ask the mods if we should move the unresolved entries to Tropes Needing TRS, followed by locking the thread? I wouldn't be against that if we got no extra activity even with the ATT bulletins.

I can see punting these with split views to other TRS threads but all of them sounds more like procrastination. In particular things like Missing Supertrope which don't have a lot of proposals.

Attached a crowner and am beginning to fill it. Unless specified, the options are not mutually exclusive [and some merge options aren't; it means we disambiguate or mention the page in two pages].

Also called Wiki Walk ("keep"), Walkthrough Mode ("keep", no consensus on index changes)

Inclined to punt Wikipedia Updater, Dr Pedia And Mr Trope and Wikipedia Syntaxer to a new thread given how mixed opinions are.

So Good We Mentioned It Twice is essentially a badly-written policy page for "do not add duplicate examples". Even if we need that page, this is not the name we want for it.

Maybe the information on it could be put on How to Write an Example (such as under a header called "Check to see if an example is already listed" or "Do not add duplicate examples"). Though maybe that's not the right page; I'm kind of disoriented at the moment due to a combination of being sick and my eyes and brain having to adjust to the new glasses I got yesterday.

Edit: Case in point: I accidentally typed "write" instead of "right". Fixed.

tbh (we) mostly just use So Good We Mentioned It Twice as a predefined message for edit reasons

that might be the only purpose it serves?

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.

I added Wikipedia Updater and Wikipedia Syntaxer to Tropes Needing TRS per what Septimus said. Dr Pedia And Mr Trope was already on there.

Edit: Also advertised the crowner on ATT since it doesn't look like anyone else did (the sandbox was, but that didn't get much attention).

So Good We Mentioned It Twice is dewicked (except for sandboxes) and cutlisted.

Edit: Crap... misread the post and thought it was called. I'll put it back on the Wiki Tropes index and other indexes, but most of the wicks were sinkholes or misuse (i.e., the misuse was from works other than wikis, which isn't covered in the description and falls under Department of Redundancy Department instead), so I'm pretty sure they can stay gone.

Update: Index wicks were put back (I checked my browser history to see which ones I edited).

Edit: To make up for my blunder (hopefully), I posted a second crowner advertisement on ATT (the last was posted a little under a week ago), with an extra line asking people to vote on every option in the post above this one if possible.

It looks like the second bulletin attracted some new votes, but here are the ones that have a mostly positive ratio, but still don't have at least ten votes:

• Merge Fannage into Forum Speak
• Add Missing Supertrope to Trope Tropes
• Cut Tropers Block
• Split Wall of Text into trope and policy
• Cut Fannage

Previously 13 entries were under ten votes, but now it's down to five (assuming I didn't miss any).

It looks like adding Missing Supertrope to Trope Tropes is the only one that isn't within consensus range while still having a positive ratio.

Edit: Also, while So Good We Mentioned It Twice was cut, its redirect (So Nice We Mentioned It Twice) hasn't been cut yet, but I cutlisted it earlier.

Edit: Also, cutting Fannage and moving it to Forum Speak are tied.

I took care of Missing Supertrope and Tropers Block, except for a wick on Administrivia.Permanent Red Link Club in the former's case (since the page is locked). Everything that needed to be cutlisted has been cutlisted.

Edit: Glossary entries are done. I'll redirect the pages, but I don't feel like going through the wicks at the moment, since I took care of Missing Supertrope and Tropers Block.

Edit: The pages that were merged with the Glossary are now redirects to it.

I copied the description of Main.Wall Of Text to Sandbox.Wall Of Text so we can sort through the description to see which parts apply to walls of text on TV Tropes, and which parts will stay on the trope page. I didn't make any actual changes yet; I just made a copy of the description for convenience's sake.
