It's been discussed a lot at the Video Uploading
thread that a lot of poor videos are slipping through the cracks, and that a clean-up effort is necessary if we are to combat the problem.
Common issues are:
- Videos spoiling major events from a work
- Videos not actually fitting the trope they're attached to
- Videos in which the important part doesn't happen until halfway through, with the length being ultimately pointless
- Videos that use the entire work, breaking copyright; this can be done either with one video showcasing an entire short video, or multiple videos that add up to using the entire work in piecemeal.
- Videos lacking the proper media source, or any media source at all.
- General quality problems, like audio issues or artifacting.
So, we've got our work cut out for us; but this is at least a place to discuss problems and come to solutions.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.
The person setting the thumbnail has to upload it themselves, so I'd assume that if requesting a mod make this sort of change, one would have to first upload it somewhere so the mod has a specific image to upload.
Think of it as requesting an image change to a locked page. You wouldn't ask them "please change this to a pic of Bob wearing his hat", you'd give them a specific image file to work with.
Personally I feel that when it comes to duplicate videos they should remain for now until a option for writing a different description for each trope is included as there are duplicate videos that have so many tropes attached to them that it would be impossible to describe them all in the video description section as the description can only fit so many letters before it runs out of room. Perhaps I should go to the wishlist with that idea soon.

In-universe examples can illustrate the trope quite well, like an in-universe meme or a reviewer talking about a meme. Unfortunately, several examples are just the meme with no context.

I think I’ve said before that I don’t think Audience Reactions should have videos. I hate to jump the gun, but they’re not tropes—they’re reactions to tropes.

I agree with that to a point. I believe Moments shouldn't have videos, and that we can't have videos on things like Ensemble Dark Horse, The Scrappy, or Broken Base, but Memetic Mutation is weird since the memes objectively exist. They just can't have videos because how do you capture it in 2.5 minutes?

The best thing would probably be a montage of memes, show the variation and how they have truly gone viral. Otherwise, just showing the scene unedited might not give enough context to how it became a meme.

Hmm, there's a clip from a recent The Nostalgia Critic commercial special that I might clip for that trope now, just because it discusses a meme and shows a variety of examples.

It seems that the Secondary Trope feature did not actually stop people from uploading duplicate videos.

That’s admittedly happened with me (when I uploaded a video on BSoD Song that was already on "I Want" Song). I don’t know what to do with it now that I know I can delete my own videos.

The Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas video for Girls Have Cooties does not fit the trope. Aunt Gertie is too old to qualify as a "girl", and the concept being illustrated is "overaffectionate relative who kisses sloppily", not "girls are icky".

That's what I'm thinking — if it can be flagged for a title and description clean, then that seems like the best solution. But how does a thumbnail get changed? And is it okay for a video to be uploaded as being attached to a recap page?
